La La Land Kind Cafe - Review - 12 South - Nashville - The Infatuation

"This Dallas-based cafe chose 12 South for its first Tennessee location, bringing its heavily yellow-leaning decor with it. Also along for the ride: a host of lattes and pastries like a strawberry cloud foam matcha, a french toast latte, and truffle burrata and avocado toasts. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

We happened upon this little spot while waiting an hour and a half to eat at The Buttermilk Ranch. It was about 11am on the first day of LalaLand’s soft launch . All drinks were 50 percent off . I had never heard of this place before , but it was apparently all the rave as I listened to customers chatter about how they couldn’t believe they opened one in Nashville . I only heard good things . The wait on day one wasn’t too bad because the line seemed to move pretty steadily . We went back on day 3 and that’s when it got real . But I’ll get to the good part first . Let me preface this by saying I don’t drink coffee because caffeine makes me extremely ill. I was there for a snack and a non caffeinated beverage . All of the coffee drinkers I heard while I visited were amazed . They loved what they ordered . The atmosphere is so trendy and cute . It’s like a casual , classy , carefree type of place . The servers were really personable and told us they loved us a few times - apparently that’s what they do in LalaLand . Thr first day I ordered two jaleapeano cheddar biscuits , chocolate chip cookie , and a hibiscus cooler . The jalepeano biscuits were AMAZING. I thought about them so much I had to go back . The chocolate chip cookie was suggested to me by someone waiting in line with us - she seemed to be impressed with the size of it . Not going to lie - it was a nice sized cookie . It was on the larger size. It wasn’t a C. Cookie size but it was larger than average . I wasn’t impressed with the flavor . It was a regular chocolate chip cookie . Nothing that stood out . The Hibiscus cooler … now I expected a cooler - meaning that it was more than hibiscus tea … this was hibiscus tea on the rocks … nothing added . I had to unload three packs of stevia in it … now my companion got a mango passion fruit cooler and was asked if she wanted a white tea base or a lemonade base … I wasn’t asked that . I don’t know if mine didn’t have that option or what . I did taste the mango passionfruit cooler since my companion was so impressed. She got a lemonade base and it was 10/10. My second experience- day 3 of the soft opening - I went specifically for the mango passion fruit cooler and avocado toast . I planned on picking up some jalepeano biscuits to take on the road as well. The line was brutal . The heat was not kind - but it wasn’t traumatizing … it didn’t move as fast this time . The parking was awful . Be prepared to walk because up close spaces are few and far in between. It’s a community that seems to not mind the exercise . You’ll see a lot of runners and walkers in the Gultch. Servers were spectacular as I remembered. Came outside to pep us up in the heat as we waited . Their air conditioning is phenomenal by the way . I get to the register and they are out of the mango passionfruit coolers . I was not happy . They had a couple of items marked “sold out” on their menu - but not that . The banana chai latte was marked sold out - it’s one of their popular items . I still ordered The Queen avo toast and two jalepeano biscuits . My friend had to switch to another drink choice as well and was talked into ordering a vanilla banana matcha something or other . She had to load it with stevia - and there was no banana in it … well of course not - they were out of the banana chai latte so how could they top her matcha with banana ??? It was a horrible suggestion . The Queen Avo toast is absolutely freaking amazing . Like nobody should ever eat avo toast plain in their entire lives . That’s how good it was . I hate that I didn’t allow them to top it with an egg … yes … I was being a big back for a few hours . They messed my friend’s order up and didn’t give her the Queen - but gave her the Classic and we were too far down the road before it was realized . She liked it , but definitely not as much as The Queen. Our second experience wasn’t as good because we both thought that they should inform those of us who were baking in the sun to patronize them that some items were sold out . I’d go back certainly.

Oh my latte love! ☕✨ This has to be one of the cutest coffee spots in all of Nashville! The vibes are absolutely dreamy—cozy, charming, and just the kind of place you’d want to curl up with a good book or your bestie. I tried their vanilla latte and I swear it was like a warm hug in a cup—the best I’ve ever had! 💖 I was a little worried about long lines, but to my surprise, it wasn’t crowded at all—just peaceful and perfect. The menu is full of tempting treats, and the pastries looked so delicious (definitely trying one next time!). Can’t wait to go back again and again!

Was sent here for my wife to get her a Banana Cloud Latte. The employees were super nice and friendly. They had a long line but it moved fast. Super clean and nice looking inside. My wife loved it. I tried it and liked it (not a huge coffee person). Probably needs more banana flavor but not a real issue.

We’d been hearing the buzz about this trendy new coffee shop that just popped up in Nashville, so of course, we had to check it out for ourselves. Located in the heart of 12 South, we rolled in around 7:30 a.m. on a Sunday—and the place was already alive and kicking. The line was out the door, filled with early risers and coffee lovers, and the energy was contagious. We waited about 15 minutes to order, and another 15 for our food—not terrible considering how packed it was. Food & Drinks La La Dream Toast – This toast is not playing around. It comes stacked with chili flakes, chili sauce, burecuta cheese, and a dreamy dollop of avocado mash, all perched on a hearty slice of toast. The combo was wild in the best way—spicy, creamy, crunchy, and a little sweet. Every bite hit a different note, and we were hooked. A must-try. Iced La La Latte – One of their signature drinks, topped with a cloud-like cream that gave it a fun, silky texture. The coffee underneath was smooth and solid, with a syrupy sweetness that might be a bit much for some (like me), but it paired surprisingly well with the savory heat of the toast. Yes, the wait was a bit of a haul, but everything we ordered delivered. If you’re into bold flavors and don’t mind a crowd, this is a solid spot for a weekend breakfast or brunch. We’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

The banana latte is amazing ! The food was great ! The wait is ridiculous. I know it’s new but, still insane . They really should get a better system of letting you know when your order is ready. Other than that it was really good and I’ll go back.

A dream in a cup and 💞 to boot! What a delight to order from. The staff absolutely make this place special! Worth the wait! And worth the return visits! Love you La La!

We stumbled upon this place on our trip to Nashville. I will say I’ve never waited so long to order (about 45 minutes) but I this was due to the sheer business and the queue being out the door. When we ordered the member of staff Sarah who served us was so kind and ended up giving us our drink and cookies for free which absolutely made our day. The warm cookies were amazing and the coffee was great. Every member of staff we interacted with was so kind and the atmosphere was great.

Google
Honestly everything is a 10 for me, from the drinks to the atmosphere to the customer service everything is amazing. A sweet girl named Kaitie helped me out and helped me find 2 drinks to try and I have been hooked ever since! It’s worth the wait however long the line is and it honestly moves very fast even in peak times. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The drinks and toast were worth the wait!! We ordered the la la latte, strawberry cloud latte along with classic Avo Toast. Very cute & fun atmosphere! Love all of the yellow. Maddie H was the sweetest & helped make our experience so fun. She answered all of our questions & helped us with our order. She was a very genuinely kind young lady!

Yelp
Perhaps the most Instagram-worthy coffee shop that genuinely lives up to its hype. I've stumbled across a few videos highlighting La La Land Cafe, which just recently opened its newest location in Nashville. When I drove by on a Sunday morning to find the line out the door, I was a bit disheartened. However, I was on a mission and I refused to let a long line deter me. No exaggeration, I waited in line for 45 minutes to place my order and get my drink. Call me crazy, but I'd absolutely do it again. Yes, it was that good. What we ordered: -JLo Latte (birthday cake edition; limited edition) There were actually pieces of birthday cake on top! -Banana Cloud Latte Sometimes banana flavoring can taste artificial, but this was incredible! Both drinks were so good. We both ordered a large, which came to a total of $16 for both drinks. They're very sweet, but I have zero issue with that. I'll definitely be back here next time I'm in Nashville! It's in a super cute area with lots of shopping too!

Yelp
Lalalooooooooong lines all darn day. Ok, this place is clearly trendy--I get it. Skip the line and order online for pickup. Just don't plan to pick up your order for at least two hours after you order. Yes, my strawberry matcha was delicious... but probably not worth the $10 price tag plus the brain power needed to order and strategizing the pickup time, then waiting at the counter for the girl to call my name, to finally clutch my great prize of a drink..well at least the counter girl told me she loved me (along with every other customer) in a very Paris-esque tone. Now just left wondering if this mass spreading of love is just the counter girl's thing or if this is a Lala thing???

Yelp
Typically, I wait for the buzz to die down before visiting popular cafes and restaurants, but for La La Land, I decided to skip the wait. Vibe- I love the location of the cafe. At 12th South, you have multiple dining and parking options. La La Land Kind Cafe is a visually stunning place with a yellow and white color scheme. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and the cafe is pet-friendly. Crowd - I'm always excited to explore new cafes, but personally, waiting in line (sometimes up to 45 minutes) even for a good one, isn't for me. So I decided to arrive at 7 am, and trust me, it was an unusual sight- there were barely any people. Sips - I got a Lavender Bloom Matcha and a Strawberry Field coffee. I can drink matcha, but it isn't something I feel strongly about. At La La Land, they source " The highest grade of Matcha that is also used for traditional Japanese tea ceremonies", hence the name - Ceremonial Matcha. Moreover, I love lavender, so I had to give this a try. It did not disappoint me; the matcha wasn't bitter, it was refreshing, and the lavender added floral notes that only complemented it. Unlike most lavender Matcha lattes that I have had earlier, this one wasn't overly sweet at all! The Strawberry Field Coffee was an out-of-the-box choice for me, but I decided to trust La La Land, here. The coffee was good in terms of the flavor and proportion. The fruit was quite prominent in the drink, but contrary to my expectations, it tasted good together. I'd say it was dessert-like, although not excessively sweet or artificially flavored. They also had fresh-baked croissants and biscuits, but those were decent, nothing unique or memorable. Was it worth the wait? Well, I understand why this place is so popular; their menu and quality of ingredients set them apart. The beverages are genuinely good. While one could argue that they are priced a little higher, I feel it is justified because they use premium ingredients, which come with a cost. Again, I wouldn't wait in line, and if you don't wish to, then you can either visit the cafe before 7:30 - 8 am or perhaps order online (early) and schedule a pick-up time. Soooo, did it live up to the hype? I guess, yes!

Yelp
This was my first time going to La La. The aesthetic is very clean and I love all the white and yellow accents. The 3 glass chandeliers give a fancy feel to the more modern decor. There are two bathrooms that are nice and tidy... sadly the wait is long if you want to use them, but also La La is all the rage right now since it just recently opened, so they are super busy! I was boring and just got an iced caramel latte and a butter croissant. They both were very good! I haven't had a croissant this good in a while... so I for sure recommend trying them. I am looking forward to trying a hot drink the next time I go. The cashier was super sweet and helpful. Did not rush my friend and I on ordering at all. Plus, she gave us suggestions.

Yelp
La La Land Kind Café just opened its doors in Nashville for their soft launch, and you can already feel the buzz. This Dallas-based café isn't just about great drinks -- their mission is to spread kindness and create change by hiring and training foster youth. You can feel the good energy as soon as you step in. Yes, the line was long, but it moved surprisingly fast thanks to the super friendly and efficient staff. Everyone was so upbeat and welcoming, you can tell they're really living out the café's mission to "spread the love." Now the drinks: As for drinks: 7/10: Strawberry Fields matcha-- subtly sweet with a fresh strawberry note that paired beautifully with the earthy matcha. 9/10: The Banana Cloud Chai-- uniquely creamy, spiced, and just sweet enough without being overpowering. Treats: Cookie- warmed up it was delicious and had a homemade taste, lots of chocolate chips and a generous size. The vibe is playful, colorful, and full of positive energy. That said, this is more of a sweet treat stop for me -- the drinks lean on the indulgent side, so it's not necessarily an everyday coffee shop, but definitely a fun, feel-good spot for when you're craving something different.

Yelp
Soft launch today! Very busy but makes sense for the half off deal. The cafe is very clean and spacious. The decor is very yellow, gives honeybee. The people were nice, Emily at the door was very fun to talk to and people are very attentive. Cute logo of an angel doing a heart with its hand. Drinks were very good! The banana cloud chai latte was very good, on the sweeter end. The strawberry cloud matcha was good, matcha was overpowering the strawberry tho. Overall good experience!

Yelp
I join in on the anesthetic pleasing, yellow joyful place. Loved the ice banana matcha latte. But I wouldn't spend my time standing in a long line waiting for a matcha latte. Came for the vibes and the outside table seating view. Seeing everyone walking their doodle dogs was the highlight.

Yelp
La La Land has landed in Nashville! My spouse and I went today at 6:30 AM for their soft opening. We waited about 45 minutes in line to order. The cafe is clean with cute, bright yellow branding. The staff were SO friendly and knowledgeable considering it's their soft opening. We ordered a La La Latte, Banana foam latte, Matcha Squared and Matcha Latye with Strawberry foam. Our drinks were ready quickly. Each one tasted decadent and dreamy. The matcha flavor was strong. The banana flavor was subtle and not artificial tasting. They were worth the wait!

Yelp
**DISCLAIMER: REVIEW IS BASED ON MATCHA ONLY** I discovered La La Land through Tik Tok and decided to give it a try. The place itself is very aesthetic with a white interior with yellow accents. We ordered the Banana Cloud Matcha and the Matcha Squared they are both perfect 10/10, which we decided makes it very well worth the wait. The Banana Cloud Matcha was delicious if you like something sweeter, has a very good balance between both the banana and matcha flavors. It's light, yet creamy and the cinnamon sprinkle on top ties it together very nicely. Meanwhile, the Matcha squared is a matcha lovers dream which really emphasizes the matcha flavor in a very complimenting way. It's not overbearingly sweet and is not bitter at all. The froth from the cream top is light and does not take away from the rest of the drink. Other notes I have include the bathroom, wait time and service. The bathroom was very tidy, with a vanity mirror and large sink. The wait was a little long ~25 minutes, but very well worth the hype. Last but not least the service, the baristas and staff know the line is going to be long especially with the hype and recent opening so they had someone outside with water cups. The cashier was kind enough to give us their recommendations, and although they said to try the espresso with the banana cream top we opted for matcha instead, so maybe we'll come back next time we're in Nashville. TLDR: 10/10 Experience, drinks made it well worth the wait.

Yelp
As I waited in line, the staff assisted with questions and gave suggestions. The coffee I got was "the upside down", an iced latte with vanilla and caramel. It was very delicious! The aesthetic of the place is also really cute!

Yelp
The banana cloud latte is to die for. I would have got 6 of them if all that espresso wouldn't stop my heart lol Their giant cookie was a hit with the toddler too. Very friendly staff, quick too. I was shook how they were getting through that line with all those people in it. Way to go, La La Land. Now your girl doesn't have to miss back home in Los Angeles so much.

John D.

Yelp
What a find. It was recommended by a local and exceeded my expectations. I had the truffle burrata avocado toast which was fantastic. I got there early and when I was done eating the line went outside the building amd down the street. It's a great spot in the trendy area of 12 South in Nashville. Check it out!

Jess G.

Yelp
This was worth the wait! We only waited 20 min and the drinks came out fast. I loved the banana cloud latte! It tasted exactly how it's titled.

Yelp
Yo went Saturday great coffee and drinks and food don't miss this place long lines but worth the wait kid from Brooklyn and I approve this message

Yelp
I've been to one of these in Austin but this one was even better! The drink suggestions were amazing and we loved the vibe in there. Will be going again!

Anonymous B.

Yelp
Food, service and vibe are all 10/10. This place definitely lives up to the hype. Yes it's pricy but it's absolutely delicious! It's sweet though so I went home and added a bit more coffee to the La La Late to even out the taste.

Yelp
This was my first visit to any LaLa Land and i thought the hype was well worth it! it's not your typical sit quietly and work on your laptop type of coffee shop... it's loud and it's got its own vibe with music playing and lots of bright yellow and crisp white tones! The line goes pretty fast and they have a great team of baristas to take care of you! I especially liked Maddie H who helped my friend and I get what we needed and had plenty of great suggestions for our first order! I chose the matcha w the strawberry cloud and it was delicious! That cloud should be called crack cloud haha it's so good! Also got the basic avo toast and it was perfect and easy to share w a friend! We did a mobile order and while it still took quite a bit of time I'd suggest ordering that way, grabbing a table and enjoying the atmosphere! The bakery items in the case looked really good and I'd like to try something like that next time! Definitely will be back! Stand in the line ... it's worth it!

Lily S.

Yelp
Oh my - so delicious AND exceeded the hype!! Some of the best coffees and breakfast food we've had. The banana cloud latte was divine - will be thinking about this. The vanilla and birthday lattes were delicious. Egg bites, strawberry pop tart, and croissants were excellent. Service was great. Will be back!!

Jessie L.

Yelp
Loved the Keith Lee matcha and the truffle burrata toast. The team was so nice even though the line was so long.

Myra W.

Yelp
This place is wonderful!! Has the best drinks I've had in the country--unique and yummy. Very beautiful inside and special to visit!

Phillip A.

Yelp
We waited for over an hour in line, and while the drinks weren't worth that, Maddie H was so nice that she offered to cover our drinks the next time we came in.

Sarah D.

Yelp
All of the staff were super welcoming and helpful navigating the menu! The selection is great and most people would be able to find a drink and/or food they would like. The cups and straws are so cute and being in the coffee shop instantly brightens your! They have an app with order ahead and rewards similar to Starbucks. 10/10 recommend.

Olivia H.

Yelp
We got two lattes, one with almond milk and one with non fat milk. The almond milk one was fine, pretty good, however; the non fat one..... I am shocked it is called world's best latte. We are 99% sure it was rotten milk. The smell alone was unbearable. Had to throw out after one sip.

Jesse E.

Yelp
BRING EARPLUGS AND BINOCULARS The good: The staff seem nice and the drinks are tasty. The bad: 1) The music is WAYYY TOO LOUD inside. Like comically loud. I even felt bad for the nice people working there. You have to literally yell over the music to place an order, and it's practically impossible to have a conversation with people standing even right next to you...I couldn't wait to leave as soon as I got my drink because my ears were hurting. This is supposed to be a coffee shop, not a club in Ibiza.... 2) The menu is in teeny-tiny font and placed next to the register at the very front of the line. This makes it practically unreadable until you finally get to the front and it's time to order, which undoubtedly slowed down the (already extremely long) line because people didn't know what to order until the very last minute. I think this place could be great if they just addressed these two glaring issues.
