These Are the 2020 Restaurant Closures That Broke Bay Area Food Insiders’ Hearts | Eater SF

"I was heartbroken when Locanda closed right out of the gate — I wanted to eat that spicy-fatty amatriciana forever, and the trouble at the Delfina group felt like a bad omen for the whole year." - Eater Staff

Service was a bit slow but okeish. Waiters were smoking on the terrace which is disturbing. Food was ok but nothing special. Prices were moderate. Terrace was charming but some of the furniture was really worn-out and dirty.

We had a really nice evening here. It’s a bit out of the way but charming once you get there. Very friendly service and the menu was interesting. Good was good. Overall a nice experience. Prices also fair.

Oh, wow! Let me tell you this: i was trying to find a restaurant with Pasta with Vongole. But instead i took what they recommended to me, some Fresh tuna slices and then Ravioli with fresh raw shrimp on top - mama mia! The best dish i’ve tried in Nice so far! No really! The BEST

This place is gorgeous! the way everything is laid out and decorated is pure style, and it just feels wonderfully welcoming. The food is excellent and the servers are warm and helpful. It's a hidden gem, and we would definitely come back.

Google
Very positive experience. Great food, friendly staff and cosy environment. The tiramisu is to die for and generally, this restaurant offers great value for money. 35€ for starter, entré and desert. Hard to beat that.

Google
Amazing food, lovely terrace and great staff. We took menu option (appetizer+main dish+dessert) and the food was super delicious. Everything is homemade, from pasta to desserts. Definitely a local place to visit!

Yelp
I wanted a non-tourist, local neighborhood restaurant with home style cooking for our first dinner in Nice. La Locanda was a perfect choice. Upon walking up to the restaurant, you notice the different outdoor seating areas. Each with it's own little cozy vignette, especially at night when it's all lit up. Our server spoke English and graciously explained the menu. Appetizers Marinated tuna Warm cheese with honey and pignolli nuts Octopus salad Main course We all had the ravioli special stuffed with asparagus and cheese in a very light sage and butter sauce Desserts Profiteroles with fresh, hot chocolate sauce Panacotta Affogato The food was excellent along with the ambiance and slow pace of the evening. La Locanda is definitely worth the trip.

Yelp
We needed help from google maps to find this hidden Italian gem since the restaurant is placed in a residential area away from the crowded part of town.. Such a nice and local place with a very homely vibe to it. The staff was really nice - as were the surroundings. The food was simple and delicious We finished our Italian pasta dinner with a lovely tiramisu. This place is definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
Absolutely love this restaurant. The set up with a yard and a terrace is beautiful. The service is professional and inspired (also in English). The menu is short and sweet with 4 starters and 4 mains you can combine. The wine list is very good. The food is one of the best experiences I have ever had in Nice; fresh, seasonal, creative, beautifully displayed and made with love. They have their own parking - don't worry about the obscure location. All in all - a gorgeous place with amazing food. Extra star for the fact that Portishead was playing when we arrived.

Yelp
Well, to join to chorus of reviewers, yes, this restaurant is excellent. We had dinner there just last Saturday. We arrived about 7pm without a reservation (NOT recommended), but the staff made room for us on the terrace. Service was as wonderful as you'll ever find. Friendly, yet professional and fast. Towards the end of the meal, however, the restaurant got very busy and the staff was a bit harried. Still, no problem. The night we were there they had two "menus" (i.e., as opposed to a la carte). One menu was four small appetizers, a pasta course, and a dessert. The other was the appetizers, a pizza, and a dessert. I went for the pasta menu; my friend went for the pizza menu. The appetizers included a serving board of cured meats, roasted red peppers, and salad. The pasta I chose was paccheri with salt cod. My friend chose a white pizza with soft-ripened paglierina cheese with pine nuts and drizzled with honey. Both my pasta and my friend's pizza were VERY rich but delicious. House red wine was delicious. Dessert was tiramisu. The meal was excellent and reasonably priced. The menus, however, are a LOT of food. Unless you've just escaped from prison (as they say in French), I'd forego the menu and order a la carte. Just the antipasti and a pasta or a pizza would make a fine, filling meal unless you're a dessert fanatic.

Yelp
You do not expect to find such a good restaurant in this isolated area. I recommend antipasti, with their original and various tastes. Menu is simple with not to much items. Food is excellent and home made. Decoration is also original, with this apparent wine cave inside the restaurant.

Yelp
Found this place using Yelp after reading the reviews. We didn't have a reservation and walked in and they found us a table right away. The place is super cute! The woman owner was our server and she was very hospitable. They only serve seasonal food and therefore they change the menu often so they write it on the chalkboard. They bring it to your table to help you make your selection. We ordered fresh burrata which was creamy and yummy. We ordered baked Brie topped with honey and nuts which was great with the charcuterie plate. For dinner, we shared the fresh pasta (cheese bacon pepper) prepared in the Parmesan cheese wheel. We would totally recommend this place to anyone! Great find thanks to the other Yelpers.

Yelp
This restaurant is a well kept secret and off the tourist path. We were seated in the beautiful outdoor garden. The prix fixed menu was the best choice. Our waiter was knowledgeable about wines and made good recommendations. We shared entrees, which were all fresh and tasty. The main courses and desserts were also excellent. High lights were chèvre bruschetta, charcuterie, pasta arrabiata, tiramisu. All round an excellent restaurant.

Yelp
Alan, Patricia, Bob & Jane EXCELLENT local restaurant with the best Italian food we have had in years. Patricias' family is from Ragusa in Sicily and has run a cooking school in The Provence part of France for years so we know good food. We have found that the best Italian food is the simple, family kind and that's what we found at la Locanda Excellent service by professional waiters and a fixed price menu for 30 euros of three courses was also excellent A carbonara of pasta with wild squid is to die for and a combination we had never had before Not a tourist restaurant but filled with locals who know great food! We have added this restaurant to our "not to be forgotten list !!!!!!!

Yelp
What can I say. The food, the ambience and the staff were wonderful. Felt completely at home. Would return here in a heartbeat. Don't miss out on this hidden gem in Nice
