Google
New to the area worst customer service ever. Both times I went, I payed for extra cheese on a burrito and they didn’t add it and when I told the lady she said we did do it when they really didn’t why would I complain if they did do it , now today I gave that place another chance I ordered carne asada fries with extra cheese and sour cream since that’s how my kids like it and there was no extra cheese or sour cream I called and the lady had the audacity to say “next time order it separate so you can see the difference and they said they did add it” what kind of customer service is this if pay extra for something add extra point blank. I’m not asking for free xtras or anything I’m just asking what I payed for. And yes my kid had already ate little but I don’t see extra cheese or any sour cream do you ?

I used to go here religiously but lately the service has been so rude and so disrespectful. I stopped going. I can not support a taco shop with bad service. I used to tell everyone to come here because of how good it was. Now im telling them to not go anymore. So disappointed.

Google
I used to order from this place probably two times a month on average. Today I tried the Plaza burrito which is supposed to contain bacon, steak fries, cheese and chipotle sauce. Instead what I got was just huge chunks of cold, fat balls of pork with some cheese and sour cream and chipotle sauce. I asked them to make something else if that is their "bacon and steak", but they refused. They don't have to and I also don't have to go there again for shitty food. Went down the street to Epic Wings instead. Why did I ever come here?

Found a piece of wire in the burrito I will be contacting the health department about this issue. I had request to speak with a manger- owner, and was told that they could speak with me.....

Google
This was my first time getting food from this place. I ordered the carne asada fries, rolled tacos and a surf and turf burrito, not pictured because I ate it all before I could even take a picture. Their meat is good on the items. I was not disappointed =)

Google
Disappointing shrimp burrito and customer service - my burrito was mostly rice and pico de gallo with 4 pieces of shrimp. Went back for carne asada fries and a veggie burrito. The fries were some of the best I've ever had. Very nice salsa verde. Pros: cheap and opened late. Cons: not enough shrimp on shrimp burrito. RECOMMEND: 5 roll tacos and carne asada fries.

My second time here,I ordered Surf and Turf fries and it was the most delicious meal ever! The portion was huge and everything was very fresh and tasty. Great service too

Google
Clean place, Best carne asada fries I've ever had very quick serving.

Yelp
Ordered from La Lomita via Uber Eats and was really impressed! I got the carnitas burrito, wet with green sauce and extra cheese. The carnitas were perfectly tender and flavorful, and I loved that everything was well-seasoned. The burrito was a good size with a generous amount of meat - definitely no skimping here! My only tiny suggestion would be to put the extra cheese inside the burrito. I'm a cheese fanatic (seriously, cheese is more important than my health or future), and while I appreciated the extra portion, having it melted throughout would have been even better than just on top. My partner ordered a shrimp burrito and was equally happy with the proportions and flavor. Overall, the food was delicious and reasonably priced. We'll definitely be ordering again and exploring more of their menu. Some of their combo plates and unique creations look amazing, and I'm excited to see how they stack up against other taco shops in the area.

Yelp
A small neighborhood joint located along a busy street in National city that serves amazing Mexican food. My go to is the California burrito, it is always a must whenever I'm in the neighborhood. Many may disagree, or have their favorite joints, but believe me this should be on your to visit list if you love a good California burrito or Mexican food in general. The burrito has a sauce that I just can't pinpoint what it is that really elevates the burrito and distinguishes it from the rest. Service as well is always prompt, and staff in the front are friendly. Definitely try this place out!

Yelp
Was in the area and stopped bc we were hungry. We got three rolled tacos, kids meal, and two taco plate. They have a salsa bar with carrots. Service was nice. This is a take out taco shop that did the job ok.

Ada M.

Yelp
I give this place another try the food is worst than last time! Had their nanchos cheese chips their chips tasted stale/burnt. Look like they just cut up their own corn tortillas and fried it. Tasted grossed! Chicken still low quality! Shredded chicken tasted so old!

Raul E.

Yelp
I love the breakfast plates and those are go to. But their rolled tacos are cooked perfectly in my opinion (a mixture of a nice crunch and tender inside)... service is nice but even nicer when you dine in and the food is brought to your table (I like to meet the girl halfway) ambience is chill

Angelica B.

Yelp
This place was great. The customer service from Lupita at the counter was outstanding. The food was delicious and we will definitely return when in the area!

Angie C.

Yelp
Delicious Chile relleno burrito. The sauce is just right, not to spicy. The Chile is tender and the tortilla is then, perfect! It has rice, cheese, shredded lettuce, very very good. Service was good, they playing great Mexican music and the menu has all the good Mexican dishes. Ill be back. The green pepper is a little spicy but still good.

John A.

Yelp
1. Bad service. 2. Forgot to make my order with no apology. 3. Wtnessed a pizza guy come in with several pizza and left with a big bag of food.

Char B.

Yelp
We ordered surf and turf burrito, pollo asado quesadilla, 2 fish tacos, and Horchata. The tortillas for the fish tacos (2 tortillas per taco) were slightly bigger than mini taco size but the fish pieces were mini. It came with pico de gallo and crema. There was a lot of pollo asado inside the quesadilla and some big juicy pieces too that were flavorful. Not as much cheese as other places but still a good amount. The surf and turf burrito was ok. The temperature was atomic hot and stayed too hot for a long time which makes me think some/all of the contents may have been microwaved. (The other items were a regular warm temperature.) The inside of the burrito came with rice, corn/peas, and cheese. The shrimp seemed pre-cooked and didn't look or taste fresh. Either that or they were very overcooked. The horchata was good, the usual that comes from the machine. Refills are $1. There is a $0.50 charge for all credit card transactions and the sign for this is right in front of the register. We sat next to the drink dispenser and it was really dirty :(

Rockie E.

Yelp
Not a crowded place and pretty clean. Quickly takes your order. They have a self serve salsa bar too

Madelaine A.

Yelp
This is the place where you want good mexican food late at night and you know it will hit the spot. This is a great local place, the food portion is bigger than usual and service is always fast. The restaurant itself is older but they don't matter when the food is good. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Jay T.

Yelp
Capuchana fries is amazing.!!! Waaayyy better than tacos El gordo. Guaranteed. My kids always get the cali B with no pico. We go there least twice a week. But when they out out the capachana fries. We had to get It also.

Terrence S.

Yelp
I had the carne asada breakfast burrito to go on a Monday morning. The place was empty but at least there's plenty of parking. Although the price was pretty average, the burrito came out piping hot and fresh, and big and long. There are various sauces at the sauce station, but only allowed to take two. I had the habanero and the verde, and they're solid, though I think the habanero could've been a bit spicier personally. The contents of the burrito were not bad as well, though I wish the carne asada beef was a bit juicier. Still lasted me two meals since it was so big. Overall not the best I've had, but I would be down to try some of their other items on the menu next time.

Roy D.

Yelp
$13.25 for a burrito, it says $12.25 on the menu inside the restaurant Extra charge for guac , for me and my girlfriend for just only 2 burritos was $31.97 with no drinks ...... $4

Bianca O.

Yelp
I like their breakfast burritos and rolled tacos with their chile de arbol salsa! There's so many taco shops to choose from but you never know if they're gonna be good. This one is good!

Jordan S.

Yelp
Every time we came here the burritos were packed! They are definitely larger sized burritos and SUPER good! Parking is very limited here and in a small area, a bit of a tight squeeze.

Hin D.

Yelp
SHOOT ME IF I EVER ORDER A CALIFORNIA BURRITO FROM ANYWHERE ELSE! THATS NOT ME. la lomitas has one of the best, juiciest, flavorful california burritos in all of SD i SWEAR TO GOD! i assure you you will leave la lomitas with the best burrito ever + leave only 5 minutes after you order, their service is FAST. just look at this BITE. normally i hate burritos because of how dry they are but godddd la lomitasssssssss

Samuel C.

Yelp
So disappointed. Went in and ordered fish tacos and a shrimp taco. When I got home I noticed the tortillas had mold and I had already taken a bite out of the taco. I immediately called the place and was told to bring back the food and I would either get it replaced or refunded. I went took the food back and got it replaced. Got home again and again took a bite and noticed again mold on the tortillas. I called about 5 times and no answer.

Arielle C.

Yelp
One of my favorite places for carne asada fries and other Mexican food. Tonight I ordered the carne asada fries with a side of chipotle sauce for here. Sat in my favorite booth seat in the corner and w joyed my meal! Their carne asada fries comes with sour cream, shredded cheese, and guacamole. Their guacamole tastes fresh and is one of the only National City taco shops that doesn't serve American guacamole (avocado and sour cream). The cashier was very nice and cleaned the table for us before we sat down. She made light conversation with me before serving other patrons. I love how this taco shop is always clean, there is a bathroom, and an open salsa bar with limes, hot peppers, and pickled carrots. The portions are pretty big but part of me feels like the dine in portions are a bit bigger. Love you La Lomita! FYI the to-go order was from a previous night and was just as delicious.

Daniel F.

Yelp
We were recommended here by a good friend. Thanks to her we love this place. To La Lomita team great job.

Jhenny B.

Yelp
Honestly one of our fav spots, hands down! Surf n' turf, highly recommend! Flavor is soooo good, and the quantity is hefty and generous. Quality is A+ Every time we come here, they're consistent with their food. Service is great, usually Uber eats and food arrives fresh and fast!

Heci L.

Yelp
The california burrito was whatever but the surf and turf fries was delicious. Surf was perfectly grilled and turf was well done (some pieces were cooked a little too crisp though). Comes with cheese, guac, sour cream, and Chipotle sauce. ( ask for sour cream and sauce on side, so the fries maintain crispiness on the drive home). Self serve sauce station with 4 difference sauces, radishes, lemons, pickled onions, and pickled carrots. The Verde was passable but the 1st red sauce was good. Majority people buy to go, customer potty room available, easy to find parking. Would come back again. Total cost around $3.0

Personal R.

Yelp
Pretty good for the price!! Great for Lunch or Dinner!! The wait time for food preparedness could use improvement.

Shalini G.

Yelp
solid... there are 2 taco shops near my work that I will go to. This is one of them. I wouldn't say one is better than the other, it's a mood thing. I can say the salsa here is better and the place seems cleaner and more inviting. food always comes out quickly. I haven't tried to order ahead, but I haven't needed to. la Lomita makes me happy and I hope they keep up the good work as long as I work in national city.

Jay T.

Yelp
I used to always come here when I lived in national city but I moved more up north two years ago, they always had the best burritos and carne asada fries. Although recently, I came in around 8PM and I ordered their Carne asada fries but the quality of their food has really gone down.. paying $16 for soggy fries, barely any guacamole, and barely any meat as well. I was really disappointed because I loved this place.. Service is ok as well

Jay P.

Yelp
Just went tonight I got the veggie burrito with no lettuce and Mexican salsa add enchilada sauce. The flavor was good but compared to other places the burrito had more tortilla than filling! The lady at the counter was very rude and not welcoming at all. She acted like I would have an issue paying extra for enchilada sauce. The facility was typical nothing out of the ordinary or really memorable about it.

Eunice A.

Yelp
Service is bad. They want to charged $1.08 for an extra small ziplock. You cannot make complaint to the owner.

Vivian T.

Yelp
Been coming here recently for my late night Mexican cravings. What I like about La Lomita is their hot sauce bar has all types of sauce from green to orange, bright red, and dark red. They offer carrots and pickled onions, which go well on everything. You can get as much hot sauce and garnish as you like but I try not to over do it. I've had their Carne Asada nachos which has nacho cheese and is sooo delicious. Their carne Asada fries are a safe choice. I tried the Carne Asada Plate (#11) and it was filled with Carne, lettuce, cheese, beans, rice, and guac! Really worth it in my opinion as they give you warm tortillas wrapped in foil too. There's lots of Mexican food all over San Diego, but spots like La Lomita stand out a little more.

Marianna F.

Yelp
We ate here four years ago, and on this trip we made a stop here even though it was 40 minutes away from our hotel. The food here was good and still is! There's a salsa bar and I love their habanero sauce the best, it's the spiciest one they have. My carne Asada plate was seasoned great and the rice was so good I ordered my plate with all rice. I ate mine with a flour tortilla that came with it. My mother-in-law wasn't impressed with the menudo and didn't even finish it, but it was something warm for a cool evening. My husband said his carne asada torta was good and that the bread was really good, crispy outside and soft inside. We dined in, and it has indoor seating. The service was great and place was clean inside. I can see parking being a little tight since we saw people coming and going the whole time we were there! Highly recommend This place if you want good, fast, and cheap eats at dine-in quality!!!

Yelp
Was super hungry after the gym today, and decided to Yelp a new place for breakfast burritos. I got a Bacon and potato burrito, and a deluxe for the kids. The flavor was good, I liked that the bacon and potatoes were crispy. It was an arm length burrito (well for me anyway) and the tortillas were fresh. The filling was a bit on the skimpy side, although the flavor was there. Not greasy at all, and the bacon added enough saltiness for the egg and potato. Salsas were flavorful as well. I usually favor the green salsa, but this time I kept grabbing the red for the smokiness and heat. I bought 3 burritos and they gave me 6 salsas, which sufficed because my kids don't salsa haha. I paid $23 and change plus tip in cash, I didn't pay an extra 50 cents to use a card. The lady at the counter was friendly, and it was a pretty steady flow of customers coming in and calling to place orders at 11am-ish. While waiting for my order, I heard the most people order carne asada burritos, then breakfast burritos, carne fries, chile relleno, and tacos de cabeza. Perhaps if im starving and in the area, I will try one of these next time. As for the parking, it's a shared lot and very tiny. I was lucky to get a spot right away and it stayed full occupancy. Trying to leave this place was even worse. People blocking the way so I couldn't back out, and then when I started to, some other dude next to me started to back out, not even waiting his freakin turn. And then he takes like 3 minutes to get out! Anyway, there you have it. My experience. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. (;

Roger S.

Yelp
No matter what I have tried, the food is flavorful and never disappointing. The service is relatively fast. The salsa bar is not for the casual salsa consumer.

Ed M.

Yelp
Dropping a star. If you are doing a 3rd party app driver pick up this isn't a problem. However if you are doing a self pick up from a 3rd party app there is a older lady there acting like the phone police demanding to see your order on the phone, physically touching your phone to check each item, then handing it off. I'd have no problem here with this if this were done "every" time but that's not the case. I've been here times where they have NOT bothered to ask for my phone to check the order. Now it's get your phone or I'm not giving you the food you ordered. Wanna know the funny part? I unknowingly showed her a past order which wasn't even the order and she still handed me the food. Be consistent and stop wasting my time.

Liz V.

Yelp
Usually order from here and food is great not sure if cook changed but food today was so bad. Zero seasoning, i had to season my own plate, the very few potatoes i got in my plate all had black spots, had a hair in my food. My husband's burrito was dry and also extremely bland. Disappointed

Kerry S.

Yelp
Local taco shop. Nothing to write home about just a good solid taco shop. Reviews must be 85 characters so this is just useless fill

Honest Review S.

Yelp
One of the best taco shops In National City! Portions are huge, different types of salsa going from mild to extra hot, and food is delicious!! The restaurant is definitely outdated but you're not here for ambiance or a white table cloth dinner. You're here for a bomb a$$ Mexican food that hits every time!

Alyanna M.

Yelp
Great place for good cheap Mexican food. I always get my California burrito or carne asada fries fix here! Whenever I'm in the paradise hills area, I always try to get my Mexican food here! I also love their salsa bar here. I always try to call ahead to place an order, sometimes they don't answer, but that's okay because they still prepare your food pretty quick if you order at the restaurant.

Ricardo R.

Yelp
The best Mexican food in National city ! The portions are the biggest I've ever had and the food quality is over the top. I always recommend this place to ppl who go to San Diego/ National city

Yummy F.

Yelp
Had the carniasata burritos and fries. Food was good and fast. Fresh sauce and food. Price is fair.

Victoria R.

Yelp
Omg!! We were looking for a quick food spot and omg this place hit the spot! It's so good!!! Everything came out fresh and hot and the Jamaica was amazing too 10/10

Mike M.

Yelp
The cali burrito with the potatoes instead of fries is a nice twist it was Fireeeee. Also liked the sauce station and service food came out fast and hot!

Cherry E.

Yelp
I love their menudo & the special quesedilla, as well as their fried fish etc. One of the best Mexican resto. I loved. Highly recommended.

Daryl W.

Yelp
I often go here and get Carne Asada Fries and they're consistently delicious. TJ style tacos are also a favorite, highly recommend. All of their Salsa are also amazing. Big Fan.

Adriana M.

Yelp
Honestly i've been coming here since i was little but it's making me not want to come because of an employee that they have she is so rude she's a tall girl who wears glasses, she messed up on my order when i specifically asked for a certain drink and got mad when i asked her to switch it out i think costumer service is the top thing to have at any place if you want it to succeed but not with employees like this i hope this gets to the right person who can help this girl out.

Aloha A.

Yelp
Carne asada fries 2/5 (under cooked fries) Carne asada plate 2/5 (cold, bland meat & only 1 tortilla provided) Lomita burrito (cheese stuffed chille relleno with rice, beans & cheese) 1/5 Go to Humbertos's instead...was really hoping this place would be a contender-not even close. Not enough hot sauce, we had 3 different orders and only 4 hot sauces given. I think one red and one green per order is reasonable?? You get whatever they want to give you, even though you politely asked for extra. I would have gladly paid more for extra hot sauce.

Vicente R.

Yelp
Always good food! Can't ever go wrong with this place! For me it's far better and more consistent than others in the area !

Patricia M.

Yelp
Everything here is bomb as fu**! Only wish they'd shred their carnitas but everything is so good. Carne asada fries are bomb asf. Rolled tacos bomb asf. California burrito and big cali burrito bomb asf Sopes bomb asf Bean and cheese burrito bomb asf Tortas bomb asf Everything is bomb. Horchata is my fav. Habanero salsa and red salsa and green salsas are my favorites. They have Mexican coke in a bottle and jarritos in bottles. They give generous portions and not stingy with guacamole and crema. They use Mexican crema which is delicious. Prices are reasonable and not ridiculous. You definitely get what you pay for and I always recommend La Lomita to everyone I know. Please don't ever change. Your food is bomb.

Kat G.

Yelp
Came here a few times and the food was always good. I came the other day and the service I got was just off, the lady that took my order seemed out of it or just not really there? The food I ordered came out pretty quick since they just opened. I took the food to go and once I got home I took the burritos out which were nicely labeled, but they were labeled wrong. I began eating my burrito and I ordered a breakfast chorizo with beans added. What I received was one of the worst burritos that I've gotten from somewhere. It's honestly really hard to mess up a chorizo burrito but they did! My burrito was literally all beans (very salty beans too) and under cooked potatoes then burnt pieces of chorizo and egg. I don't even think they cooked chorizo for my order and I was just given burnt ends from someone else's left overs. Really upset about this order and it will probably be the last time I go.

Tom F.

Yelp
This is my go to for Carne Asada burritos! The Asada is marinated very well and I love how it has a little char to it. The staff is always friendly when I come in. I like how they have the hot sauces labeled with emojis letting you know the spice level.

Shahani O.

Yelp
A few days ago, we had carne asada fries from Lolita's and it was well over disappointing. And so today we decided to get carne asada fries from La Lomita and it totally hit the satisfactory spot! It was on point. The fries actually had flavor and crisp! The meat was well seasoned and cooked thoroughly. The fries to meat ratio was perfect! The amount of sour cream, guacamole, and cheese were just right to get just enough on each bite. Totally recommend this place!
