La Maison Carrier

"Part of the luxurious Hameau Albert I hotel, this typical farmhouse is home to a friendly restaurant. They serve a beautifully devised seasonal menu – sample the charcuterie that they smoke and dry on site, and take your pick from the legendary and lavish buffet of desserts ("vré de toutes les tartes de la Grand-Mère"), including biscuit de Savoie and blueberry tart. Pleasant terrace." - Michelin Inspector

All the staff at la Maison Carrier made us feel at home by their kindness to us. Their English was good which was lucky because our French is not so good. Our favourite main course was the trout ballotine with citrus fruits, artichoke and arugula pesto. It was melt-in-the-mouth and had a very punchy flavour. I had an entree which I adored that was egg, cream and cured meat. The serves were ample. We were recommended to the restaurant by our Airbnb host. The little extra things they gave us at the beginning and end of the meal were very tasty. As you no doubt realise from other reviews, they have an amazing dessert buffet called ‘Grandma’s tarts’ - all the French desserts you even dreamed of. People came into the restaurant looking serious but after the dessert buffet they were all smiling. I liked the fresh cherry tart and the oeuf en neige best. We felt the meal was good value.

We went for a leisurely lunch and enjoyed every minute and each bite. The food is rustic and honest, yet refined. My son ordered the beef special which was incredible, absolutely delicious. I had the fish which was also very good. Every single thing we tasted was superb, the bread and butter, the starters, the wine by the glass, the dessert buffet. Staff was super friendly and was patient while my son practiced his French. If there’s one place you go for a nice meal, make it here.

An amazing way to finish the holiday. A fine dining experience in a relaxed garden setting with beautiful food and lovely service. We both opted for the very reasonable daily 5 course menu - €59. Delicious. I would have paid more.

Really got an alpine dine experience here. We ordered the mushroom cheese fondue, the veal appetizer, the sea bass and pork as main dishes, and used the dessert buffet. The ambience was really relaxed and luxurious at the same time.

Wonderful Christmas Eve meal! It was a fixed menu. The fois gras and white fish tartare were delicious. The guineafowl was cooked perfectly. The cheese cart and dessert bar was a lovely touch. One could pick what they wanted according to their taste. The proportions were generous too. The whole setup was so festive! The ambiance was refined cosy and lively. Absolutely recommend!

This restaurant was highly recommended by a friend. We made a reservation a week before. The restaurant is elegant. We ordered the prefix meal which came with the buffet dessert. The meals were expensive; however, the prefix special was a good deal. The desserts were delicious.

Got a recommendation for this place from a local. Absolutely wonderful experience. The building itself was rustic and full of alpine touches. The food was delicious and they were really generous with the servings. The semi-buffet of grandmother's pies for dessert was excellent. We were able to try multiple things. Service was also excellent.

Yelp
Enjoyed a Saturday evening here while on ski holiday in Chamonix. Very friendly welcoming staff, after being seated and reviewing an EXTENSIVE wine list, our party was offered a gratuit charcuterie plate. Everyone in our party selected the 'daily special' options including parsnip soup, and herring salad as 1st course, 2nd course options included iberico pork over mashed potatoe with drzzled glaze, and fillet durade over mashed parsnip. Lastly, everyone selected the carousel dessert buffet rather than the formage cart. Both options had soooo many delicious items. From our perspective, standouts included passion fruit torte, a dense chocolate cake with vanilla sauce. An excellent meal, great service, and top-notch ambiance. My highest recommendation.

Yelp
Rustic food to match the settings. Service was top notch. Portion sizes were comically large. Unfortunately this was the meal that broke me, after 6 days of rich French food. Still, I could recognize the quality. Interesting amuses, had a soup appetizer that fed 2, and then got a large leg of lamb that fed 3...

Yelp
Always a pleasure ! A very warm welcoming atmosphere in an old barn. Their dishes are sublimes. I took their "pigs menu", delicious ! A very nice wine menu. I really recommend to visit this place.
