The Best Chinese Dumplings in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"You can watch as dumpling experts roll out the dough by hand in the front window of this compact option in La Petite-Patrie. The menu includes pork, chicken, beef, and vegetarian dumplings, plus the opportunity to do a tasting plate of all types. They also serve traditional salads, soups, and noodle dishes in newly renovated digs." - Eater Staff

The Best Restaurants in Montreal’s La Petite-Patrie | Eater Montreal

"The vast majority of Montreal’s worthwhile dumpling restaurants are located downtown, but there are a few outliers. Mademoiselle is one: its staff are regularly perched in the front window, hand-rolling pork, shrimp, and veggie options, which they serve by the plateful for low, low prices. Take them (and a delicious cucumber salad) to go, or order delivery via Uber Eats, as of September 10, when the restaurant reopens after being closed for renovations." - Eater Staff

Google
The food is very tasty, and the environment is super relaxing. There's also a small presentation at the front where you can watch how they make the dumplings. I'll definitely come back to this place whenever I'm in the area!

I was super excited to go to this restaurant, it looked very good from the reviews and even has hand made dumplings in front of you. I had a great experience up until I started eating which was when I was trying their sauces but accidentally ate sauce that had peanuts in it and had to seek medical attention. I would have loved to eat the food and I wish that their containers were labeled so I can clearly identify that it would’ve had an allergen in it. All around this place looks like it would be great to eat at, I just unfortunately had a very bad experience. I hope for the future that you clearly mark what the sauces are so someone else doesn’t have the same mistake.

A casual hand made dumpling restaurant. Freshly made at the store. Quick service and good atmosphere. And tasty dishes to boot. French menu only.

I was looking forward to try this place but unfortunately it did not meet my expectations! The good: the cucumber salad was really good! And the atmosphere with the employees rolling the dumpings in front of the window was really cool. The bad: we got the mixed dumpling plate to try a little of everything. The filling was for some with a weird after taste to the point we couldn’t tell what meat it was. They were pretty dry and the vegetables one was just not good at all.

We came here after my friend fell off her bike and cracked her tooth off. They were very accommodating and brought her miso soup. Dumplings were also delicious. Must try the mushroom salad!

Discovered this place while walking around plaza st.hubert. They make the dumplings fresh in front of you. The dumplings ( steamed) are really good. The peanut sauce and spicy sauce was good. Price quality right on! Will come back.

If you wany some fresh authentic Chinese dumplings made by hand, look no further. I was really happy with my dumplings. The only wish I have is they have more filling options. We ordered both pork (boiled) and beef (fried). Both are great! Recommended to my local Chinese friends already.

Google
Ordered pork and shrimp (seafood dumplings), everything was tasty. Liked all the different sauces. Clean and fast service.

Yelp
Being of Asian descent and tried numerous dumplings all over the world and in NYC, I do not approve this place. Not sure if they changed the flavor to cater to the French Canadian palate but this place was a huge disappointment. Got the pork dumplings and the vegetarian dumplings here and both was not good. The skin was nice and chewy however but the fillings was disappointing and bland. And the spicy soy sauce they gave was overly sour and just not good. My parents kept commenting how even the frozen dumplings we get in the Chinese supermarkets in the USA is better than this. Would not recommend

Yelp
We were looking to eat a light, late Tuesday lunch after running some errands. My aunt suggested dumplings and this place popped up so we decided to give them a try. It's a small hole in the wall with two workers out front making dumplings fresh. Always impressed how fast and efficient they are. Cute that they have a couple tables outside on the sidewalk to sit at. Found out they're originally from Harbin (north east China) which is why they have some northern Chinese dishes on their menu. Similar but different. - Dumpling style Szechuan ($7.00 for 8) - the peanut sauce was slathered on a bit too much for our liking but there was a nice heat level and the dumplings were tasty. - Salade de nouilles fraiches (D14) ($9.50) - cold noodles but not what I'm normally accustomed to. Much thinner and comes with peanut sauce and some thinly sliced vegetables. Heat level was nicely subtle. - Poulet (D4) ($9.90 for 12) - chicken and coriander dumplings. You can opt for pan fried ($2.00 extra) or boiled; we chose the latter. Steep to be charging $2.00 just to get your dumplings fried. We agreed the wrapper was nicely done but the meat inside was minced too finely. Pretty decent and cheap but this dumpling spot is a 3.5 stars for me.

Yelp
Good selection of dumplings and other small dishes. I loved the different sauces that came with them. The general Tao and seaweed salad were delicious. By far the best dumplings were the Szechuan style.

Yelp
Loved it. Too bad for the renovations, inside and out. The food was great!! They have a mushroom salad which is awesome. Love their sampler dumpling plate. Quick turnaround even at lunch. Hard to get to these days because of construction. Its seems popular with the locals and I understand why. Great option for uptown reasonably priced dumplings.

Yelp
La Maison de Mademoiselle Dumpling really made a name for itself in the Rosemont district, being one of very few dumpling restaurant. The restaurant is very busy at time with lines going to the front door and incessant calls for pick up orders. I've eaten there a few times and it does a pretty good job of filling my need for Chinese dumplings. The dumplings are freshly made at the window and cooked on order. You can also order frozen dumplings to cook them at home. The dumplings are fresh, well made - with the skin not too thick and the meat well seasoned - and the sauces that accompany the dishes very well. One my recommendation (and why I didn't give it 5 stars) is the very few choices of filling. It's competitor will give you 20+ choices of fillings (porc, chicken, tofu, beef, shrimp) and one of my favorite, coriander porc, is not offered there. Also their use of styrofoam take out boxes is a bit problematic. Overall a great place and a real gem in the neighborhood. Very few seating place so come early.

Yelp
Super disappointed in this place. After reading the reviews I thought I was in for a treat. Boy was I disappointed. All the dumplings tasted the same and their sauces literally tasted like water. I had the beef and coriander , the seafood, the porc and bokchoy and the Szechuan peanut butter dumpling entree. On top of that, if you want fried dumplings it's 2$ more which is a bit ridiculous in my opinion. There are so many better dumpling places out there. So don't waste your time. At least they let me use their bathroom during COVID times. Thanks !

Yelp
I was here with my friend. It was a small restaurant but with terrasse the tables are enough. We ordered two plates of dumplings to share and two salad. I like the shrimp one better because there was distinctive amount of ginger inside which I love very much. The salad is seaweed and black mushroom. They were pretty refreshing. There was a small market of Asian snacks, which looked very attractive to me. They also have raw or frozen dumplings to go. Raw one is the same price with cooked one but 25% more, which are three dumplings. If I am here for takeout, I will definitely grab the raw one and cook it home so it will be steaming hot.

Yelp
Always fresh. Simple menu which makes the quality always the same and always always real fresh. Home like. Not fancy but somewhat authentic

Yelp
I heard about that place from the book "300 raisons d'aimer Montréal". I lived in MTL for a couple years but I didn't get the chance to try out this place until now. I loved the dumplings, the cucumber salad and black mushroom salad too! The only downside was that there wasn't much vegetarian friendly options! Or any "seafood" only dumplings! I guess that would've made it a 5 stars for me! Will go back for sure!

Yelp
We enjoy this little spot. It can get very busy and the restaurant is quite small but we have always been able to sit within reasonable wait time. We have tried all the variety of dumplings over time and they all offer a different flavor profile. I like the ones with shrimp and the veterian ones with chineese mushrooms. Also the seaweed salad is delicious.

Yelp
Excellent dumplings for a good price. You can tell that these are freshly made dumplings and you can see that as soon as you enter the restaurant with the employees working the dough. I ordered the mixed boiled dumplings (dégustation) and it didn't disappoint. Each one was very tasty and good. They certainly compare to any dumpling restaurant around.

Yelp
Ay OK! But not the best dumpling I've ever had. Great place to have lunch if you're in the area. It's pretty small, so you might wait in line, but if it's nice outside don't be scared to grab it as take-out.

Yelp
I can't believe I've missed out on these dumplings this whole time!! Found them on yelp, drove over and parked my car and ordered 12 boiled dumplings! For 10$$$!! Also got it with spicy peanut butter sauce! I would just ask for more sauce next time! Do your self a favour and go there! You see three older ladies with traditions in their hands making fresh dumplings you will be eating in no time!

Yelp
A lovely addition to the neighbourhood. A small business - pretty much a hole in the wall - offering honest food. Word of mouth is making it often have lines, so it says something.

Yelp
Very good Chinese dumplings. Currently my best rating dumpling restaurant in Montreal. Although it cannot be compared with the best ones in China. Worth going.

Myla M.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere. This restaurant has a very warm and cozy feel to it. No matter what you get on the menu it'll be sure to be pack with flavor. If you are looking for a place to eat in Montreal this restaurant is a must.
