"A combined bistro-deli, La Maison du Magret is an essential stop for those can’t get enough duck: duck gizzard salad, duck foie gras torchon, duck confit, duck burgers, duck ravioli. It’s topped off with mercifully duck-free desserts like Basque cake and crème brûlée." - JP Karwacki, Holly Tousignant

A Treat

I really enjoyed this place. Duck served several different ways. Best duck I've had in years. My French is terrible at best, but the wait staff spoke English. I also recommend summer time because no human should be exposed to a Montreal winter!

This is the first place I ate when visiting Montreal for the first time, and it set the bar high. The decor is a quirky mix of rustic and rugby, and the staff is very nice. Duck is the name of the game here. My duck soup was excellent - like a light, duck chili - as was my duck confit.

Fine dining food for a great price! However, they were terribly understaffed. I spent 2 hours there, only 45 minutes of which was spent eating. The rest was spent waiting on the only waitress to come to me after I finished eating.

We came here on a groupon. It came with 1 amuse Bouche, 1 entree of your choice, 1 main of your choice, and 1 of 3 desserts. The amuse was a duck rillette, really more of a terrine but it was very good. Delicately seasoned, topped with a light jam. For the entrees, we opted for the 2 that were $5 extra, the duck tartare and the torchon foie gras. The tartare was delicious! Basically a traditional beef tartare with gherkins and mustard etc but with duck. It was nicely seasoned. The foie gras was nice but lacking the flavor of the alcohol and touch of fleur de sel. The side salads were not seasoned and had just oil on them, no vinaigrette. For the mains we has the magret and the duck confit. Both ducks were perfect! And came with vegetables that were cooked perfectly as well and seasoned nicely and spot-on fries. For dessert we ordered the basque cake and the grand marnier creme brulee...I didn't get the creme brulee, she gave me the apple tartine instead, which I'm not really a fan of but it was very good and the maple ice cream was very nice. The basque cake was dry. But all in all I did quite enjoy the night

Booked a reservation at La Maison du Magret during a recent trip to Montreal. The staff was very friendly and made recommendations as my friend and I weren't entirely familiar with the menu and language. The food itself was perfectly prepared and well worth the cost (we actually found a Groupon, which made it all that much more worth it). Would highly recommend stopping in.

This restaraunt specializes in Duck, and it was absolutely delicious. I would certainly reccomend this restaraunt. I especially enjoyed their poutine (duck fat fried fries with duck in the gravy). It was my first time trying duck, so I can not compare it to other duck, but I thought everything that we got was amazing. The hostess was very kind and attentive, even the mint we got after our meal was good! overall, a great experience

Really nice food and great service. Their menu is very diverse for different forms of duck but otherwise very scarce. If you can't eat duck or meat, there are literally zero options so be careful when ordering here!

The food is simply amazing. Staff is really nice. I will be back!
