"Sitting in plain sight in Silver Spring is La Malinche, a half-Spanish, half-Mexican tapas bar known for its happy hour specials, like $20 pitchers of sangria and $5 glasses of Tempranillo." - Tim Ebner

I stopped here for the first time on my way to a concert and I was very impressed. The food was excellent and very fresh. The service was great and overall a very welcoming atmosphere. The prices were reasonable for the quality of food as well. Definitely will be back when I’m in the area.

Google
Excellent food and service. We ordered several different margaritas, guacamole, patatas bravas, chicken empanadas, bacon wrapped dates, burrata, fish tacos, carne asada tacos and churros. Seriously, everything was so good and I don’t say that often. I also highly recommend their happy hour. Will definitely be back the next time we’re in Silver Spring. The owner was also very sweet and came around to ask about our food.

Google
One of my favorite restaurants to come for a casual brunch. It’s definitely a hole in a wall but I highly recommend. The owner Mr.Lucas is so sweet and welcoming. The service is also good. There is street parking available and parking garages near by but you do need to pay. I recommend using the park mobile app.

I love this restaurant! I come here all the time! I had brunch today with my boyfriend and we both enjoyed it. We sat outside because it’s pretty nice, but there’s socially distanced indoor seating as well. The food here is amazing! We tried the bottomless brunch option, which was great because it allowed us to sample multiple food/drink options. All the tapas are so delicious, and the staff are so welcoming. I highly recommend this place!

This place has AMAZING food, lovely staff. Loved it!

Google
Went for brunch with some friends and it did nod disappoint! The options are really good, especially their chicken empanadas and papa's braves! Service was good and they made sure that your drinks were full. They always checked to see if you wanted anything else.

Google
How has this hidden gem been here for years and I've never stopped by!now Iwanted to give this place a higher score but service here is horrid. We waited forever for food. Our waiter kept giving us the give me a sec finger. Food overall is really good. Order the French toast, dates and steak with eggs. Price is very reasonable for bottomless brunch. $35 for unlimited food and drinks is great value. I would recommend this place for large parties as well. Food quality is fresh and the kitchen is great with constantly refilling your table.

Google
Great meal outdoors! The mojito was particularly good. We had to wait a long time to get our bill, but it was excellent beforehand! Highly recommended, especially if you like tapas.

Yelp
Dropped in with no reservation on a Saturday for brunch. It was almost empty so I got a table immediately. The service was so friendly and fast. It's not much of a vibe and sadly the food is just okay. Mg biggest issue is how much you could taste that the empanadas were fried in old oil. I'm a little annoyed that they explicitly added an alcohol charge and tax to my bottomless meal when I didn't order a drink but I expect this place is struggling financially. Can't say I recommend and I probably won't be back.

Yelp
This one kind of pains me to have it be 3 stars. Here's the thing. We've just had better tapas other places. Also, we went for dinner, not Brunch, which people have said is amazing. Let's break this down: The good: All the food was nice. The Scallops main was good and the corn salsa was amazing. The Sangrias we ordered, the Tita and the Blanca were very good, the latter especially. We got a special soup and the seafood was nice and the soup had good flavor. Across the board the flavors were really good. The service was super friendly and absolutely lovely. The Meh: Honestly, the soup. But I think that's preference. We both just prefer heartier seafood soups. The Empanadas were fine, but my partner (for some reason she cant quite describe) did not like them. The chips with the guacamole felt store bought in bulk and not fresh. Food wise is was all just okay despite really good flavors. The funny: We were mistakenly given an order of the bacon wrapped dates that were clearly meant for another table. But we realized too late and couldn't find a server to flag them down. Honestly, I think they just misheard us. We didnt check if we were charged. Probably the most whelming dinner we've had since moving to Silver Spring. IT could've been what we ordered, but who knows.

Yelp
We tried their Bottomless Brunch for Mother's Day and they fix not disappoint. All of the good was amazing, great portions for tapas, and attentive service. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
The staff at La Malinche is super friendly, which is always a plus. For my visit, I had an easy, breezy margarita and happy hour nachos. The restaurant has a pretty generous happy hour special with food and beverages ranging from $5 to $15. I really enjoyed the nachos because they were made with queso blanco (I think). While my visit was very short, I'm looking forward to visiting again and trying out more dishes....and margaritas.

Ellen K.

Yelp
I went here with a Meetup group and found the food just Ok. I ordered a couple of small plates, and while the portions were decent, the food was not particularly exceptional.

Kerlin M.

Yelp
I came here after seeing the reviews and checking out their menu online. We went around 6pm on a Friday. To our surprise, the menu was cut in half and there was no happy hour. Now the review on the food, I would have to say everything was mid. My calamari weren't crispy, instead very rubbery. The spicy sausage I ordered was literally over cooked sausage with some siracha on top it seemed. The only thing I liked and thought was actually on the Spanish theme were the dates wrapped in bacon. The service is good, it's just the food that isn't worth it. Plus there is parking pretty much all within 5 minute walking distance.

Daniela H.

Yelp
Still just a good! Good portion sizes. Excellent flavors. The tinta is heavenly but if you like sweeter drinks go with the Cava. You won't be disappointed! Food is almost as authentic as it gets. The only tapa I didn't like was the croquetas de pollo. Taste more like a fish stick. Loved both empanadas but the chicken was the winner. Waitress was excellent!

Matthew S.

Yelp
Oh my gosh. A friend and I stopped in for their bottomless brunch and they were not kidding when they say bottomless. It includes both food and drinks and if you had room for more, they kept the plates coming. Tapas style plates and honestly everything we had was delish! Patatas Bravas came with a chipotle aioli that was to die for. You can't go wrong with their Huevos Rancheros. Platanos Fritos were caramelized on the outside, soft on the inside. Datiles were bacon wrapped dates that were stuffed with cheese. A perfect sweet and savory combination. Empanadas de Carne and Pollo were both amazing and also came with a delicious sauce. Drinks were equally delicious. Various types of sangria - red, white, rose, cava - all were great but if we had to pick a favorite, it was probably the cava. Would absolutely go back the next time I'm in Silver Spring - just need to make sure I don't eat anything beforehand or have any plans for the rest of the day because you leave this place STUFFED.

Claire F.

Yelp
A lovely restaurant, clean and well maintained. The music was at an appropriate volume for dining and talking. All the staff were welcoming and helpful. The food was wonderful. I recommend the lamb chops and the garlic shrimp. My only ding would be the 'pan a la catalana', which was a little soggy, but very flavorful.

Madelyne V.

Yelp
Delicious tapas-style brunch in the heart of downtown Silver Spring. This place is amazing for brunch. I came with a group and we all left very pleased. They do a good job their bottomless mimosas and food, we ate and drank plenty. My favorite dishes were the bacon wrapped dates, Spanish omelets, and patatas bravas. I highly recommend this spot!

Jamie B.

Yelp
I had the spinach salad, Pan a la Catalana y Platanos Fritos. Disappointed in the bread. I expected it too be crispy. The Fritos were fine but nothing spectacular. The spinach salad was spinach with a trail mix on top. Couldn't finish. Atmosphere was pretty odd. It was mostly empty. Artwork was interesting. I can't say that I would return although the servers seemed kind but very new at their job. I go the sense it was a family running the business that had no actual experience in running a restaurant. Disappointing.

Jonathan X.

Yelp
We had the chorizo and skewered chicken and frankly it was a rip off. $10 for two pieces of sausage. It wasn't even that great. The chicken was OK. But two skewers of chicken for that much?! This is not a real tapas restaurant. It's an insult. There are several main dishes that would've been great meals probably, but the tapas were mediocre, low effort small plates of over priced food. Insulting. With the flan, this meal should not have cost $40 edit: Came back to edit my review. The "suggested" tipping amounts on the receipt do not match the total on the bill. Either they cannot do math or it's a scam... Either way, RED FLAG.

Candice H.

Yelp
My friends and I went here yesterday for brunch and it was my first time at this restaurant. I tried 5 items off the menu. I loved the empanadas and pancakes the most. Sadly the chorizo omelette was too salty. It could have been the sausage but I couldn't finish it and felt a bit I'll afterwards. The staff were very attentive and we sat conveniently near the bar so they were always ready to refill our glasses. The decorations at this establishment are breathtaking. I absolutely love the artwork. The price point came out to about $52/pp for the three of us and that includes gratuity. That's a pretty great deal I'm my book. I want to try it this place again for dinner.

Mariann M.

Yelp
The tapas were so fresh and delicious including the shrimp, the bacon wrapped dates, the lamb chops and the yuca frita! The service is exceptional and the staff and chef most capable. A real gem! I will recommend it to my friends and family! Excellent birthday dinner

Kathea S.

Yelp
For years, literally, we've tied to come here for dinner before a show at the Fillmore. Every other time we've ended up at the Panera. This time we finally made it. Wow!! It was quiet and we were promptly seated. Started with a Negro Modelo and their Smokey Paloma. It was delicious. We are the following: House guacamole and chips Beef and chicken empanadas The scallops with corn salsa Chicken tacos Patatas bravas Churros Look this was delicious. Every dish was perfectly seasoned. Clearly fresh. Our server gave all the recommendations and she was on the money. Here's the proof in the pudding. We got the churros. They were amazing. My not super dessert loving and definitely not churro loving husband said he would get them again.

Sarah R.

Yelp
HAPPY HOUR. After several years of neglect, I came back... for Happy Hour (I was craving the croquettes de pollo). It's only served at the bar (which was dead at 5-6pm on a weekday). I was reminded of the quality and, actually, the reasonable prices here. Happy Hour deals aren't any cheaper than the menu prices. For example, I ordered bacon-wrapped dates ($7) on the Happy Hour menu and croquettes de pollo ($8) on the regular menu. The hibiscus margarita is SO GOOD ($9). I will definitely put it back on my go-to list.

Hitakshi S.

Yelp
Went for the first time after finding out La Malinche is a bottomless food and drinks place! Our group got a mix of everything on the brunch menu (ate some of the items before I could even take a photo!) Apart from just a couple of things like half the Mejillones being empty and the empanadas not having a lot of filling, the food was good. The drinks were also decent, but definitely not strong. We had to keep asking to have our drinks refilled so the service was a bit slow, but I guess that's inevitable during a busy brunch day. The waiters also aren't afraid of saying no to you for food if they see you have unfinished items on your table, which can come off a bit rude at times.

Pam K.

Yelp
Delicious food, nice ambience, friendly service. We came before a show at the Fillmore. Everything we ordered was delicious. Get the jamon iberico and the pulpa. A nice relaxing meal before the show.

Jasmine R.

Yelp
I stopped by La Malinche for a quick drink last night to kill a bit of time before a concert started. I was seated quickly as I had a reservation. They had a few tables open though so it doesn't seem like reservations are a must. I ordered the mango margarita and chicken empanadas to start. The margarita was strong but tasty, and the empanadas were light and flaky. For entrees, my friend and I split the steak tacos and chicken quesadilla. Both were absolutely delicious and very well-seasoned. The only reason I'm taking a star off is because the bathroom that I used was absolutely disgusting. Apart from that, I'd go back if I was in the area!

Sophia P.

Yelp
Wowowo! Secret hidden gem of a place! This restaurant definitely deserves all the high ratings on here. Do not be deceived by the outside appearance or decor. The food here is SO high quality and possibly one of the best tapas restaurant I've been for a good price. For 3 people, we ordered the octopus, calamari, salmon, strip steak, bacon wrapped shrimp, croquettes, and shrimp quesadillas. Everything was absolutely outstanding and honestly perfect. The octopus came with buttery mashed potatoes that just melted in your mouth; the steak was tender and flavorful, the bacon wrapped shrimp was the perfect combination of crispy and savory. I really can't say enough good things! We also had a pitcher of peach sangria, and the hint of cinnamon made it the perfect drink for the fall season. For desert, we got flan (on the house for a birthday), and tres leches. Highly recommend both. Honestly I'd recommend any item on the menu here. Was so highly impressed by this restaurant!

Donna S.

Yelp
I always enjoy the food here. Try the paella next time you go, the service is excellent!

Laura R.

Yelp
We have come to love this place! This is our 3rd time coming and we have been equally impressed each time. Service is good, ambiance is relaxing and semi casual, food is amazing! We will definitely come again!

Glenda M.

Yelp
Food spectacular !!!! Service omg best service ever had in restaurants Thomas is the best Ambiance super relaxing and peaceful really nice restaurant

M Z.

Yelp
We love the food here. There are many good options although we often go back to same ones because they are so good - Montaditos, Buey al Jerez, patatas bravas, esparragos, chuleta, veiras, to name just a few. With the great choices even the younger members of the family find food they love. And the staff is very friendly and welcoming. We've eaten here for many years and will continue to do so!

Anye S.

Yelp
We chose La Malinche for our weekly Friday date night dinner, and overall we're rounding everything out to a 4 star. We had several dishes and several drinks and there was a high amount of variability between them, but enough good to come back another time. 5* aspects Datiles - amazeballs. Literally, they're little balls and they are amazing, sweet and salty and savory at the same time. One order is two skewers of three bacon wrapped dates each. Gambas a la Cazuela - Trust me, you're going to need to order a side of toasted bread with this. The two pieces it comes with aren't nearly enough to lop up all the delectable sauce (garlic + wine) and you're gonna want to do that. We didn't let them take the dish after we ate the perfectly cooked shrimp, because it had so much sauce left but ordered some bread and that was the perfect amount to polish off the sauce. Side of toasted bread - See above. Empanadas de Carne - Yum! Comes with two smallish empanadas, they were delish. The cheese and steak inside worked really well. Mojito - this was the only cocktail I liked of the three drinks we had between us, and I loved it. If only it had been the one I'd ordered...but alas it was not. 4* Cauliflower con Ajo - If you're vegetarian, get this instead of the Gambas a la Cazuela - it's very similar. I probably would have appreciated it more if we hadn't already eaten the shrimp. The service was very good. 3* Tacos de Carne - If they'd had any appreciable marinade on the steak it would have been a 4, because the toppings were lovely. But, single thin corn tortilla falls apart (tradition is to use two so it holds together), and the steak itself was tasteless and overdone. Outdoor tables - While I appreciate the option for outdoor dining, and sometimes it's a necessity, it's not really the greatest date-night ambience because Colesville Rd is extremely loud right here. Price - Our meal came out to about $100 before tip. I'd say we got about $75 enjoyment out of it. If the other drinks had been better, I'd have been much happier with the price point. (See below) 2* Rosada sangria - hubby thought it was better than I did, definitely not a traditional sangria and it tasted just like a bad wine to me. Pass. 1* Mango Margarita - Talk about a disappointment! Second crappy margarita I'd had in less than a week. I don't know why MD seems to think a margarita should be 90% tequila and 10% something else, but clearly they've never had a good margarita. Margaritas should be sweet and sour and the alcohol should be detectable, but not overpowering. This monstrosity was tequila with some mango puree and no detectable sour mix / lime flavor at all. It was way too strong, after one drink I had 4-5 shots worth of drunk in me so I didn't order the mojito which would have been so much better, I still needed to be able to walk back to the bus stop afterwards.... So if you don't really want a margarita but want almost a full glass of tequila with a little teeny splash of fruitiness, have at it. I wish I'd ordered the Mojito. HARD pass. (Pun shamelessly intended.)

Jill G.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and it's always reliably decent food. We had Montaditos de Jamón y Queso and Tacos de Camarones to start - both tasty - followed by Camarones Cantinero (which were supposedly glazed with tequila?) and Patatas Bravas - the sauces on top were yummy. The service was fine, but the waitress seemed put off by our request for a side of guacamole and salsa to accompany our shrimp dinner (which we made clear we would gladly pay for). She said she'd ask about our (unusual?) request and eventually delivered it to the table (it made a big difference since the special shrimp dish was a little bland). The cocktails weren't great - the "Spanish-style" gin and tonic tasted flat. Overall, it's a fine place to dine.

A. B.

Yelp
This is an amalgamation of mostly Spanish and some Mexican food but they understand what tapas plates are and have a fairly large selection of possibilities. I'm very surprised that this place rates as high as it does, however, but let's start with the positives: - They have open air dining on the front sidewalk area which is a nice option. - The restaurant is fairly clean and nicely decorated And here's the negatives: - the cocktails were kind of weak but tasted good enough - the waitresses checked on us once but never offered any drink refills - all the plates, save the octopus, had almost no flavor to them at all. We tried the chorizo sausage, patatas bravas, the pan a la catalana, and the chicken tacos and none of it was remarkable in the least and the sausages, which were supposed to be spicy, probably were the most flavorless sausages I've ever had in my life. Besides one other group, there was no one in the restaurant either, which is probably an indicator of where they are headed. I'm still not sure how they got all these good reviews but I can't say I'd come back. Too expensive for unremarkable dishes.

L H.

Yelp
Never disappoints. Only complaint is on cold day the draft from door hits certain tables

Mary M.

Yelp
The tapas and desserts are delicious and very reasonable in price! You will love the attentive service. I have been going there for years!

Austin L.

Yelp
Decent Mexican/Spanish restaurant in the heart of Silver Spring. It's somewhat more upscale than other Mexican places in particular but not overpriced in any way. Even though it leans more towards tapas it's not the typical tapas place that is tiny bits of food for outrageous prices. I usually avoid tapas restaurants for this reason but this one was a welcome exception. I ordered the chicken tacos which were quite good. Not too salty or greasy and plenty of flavor. There was outdoor seating too which was good for being Covid-conscious and the service was friendly and quick. It wasn't mind-blowingly great but still solid. Would definitely come back here.

Sabrina R.

Yelp
Delicious food . Wonderful sangria . Excellent service . I'll be going back again soon .

Kenneth K.

Yelp
La Malinche is a great tapas place. I have been herr once for dinner and twice for bottomless brunch. The bottomless brunch has gone up a bit in price when my wife and I went on Saturday from what it was pre-pandemic which is understandable but still good deal for bottomless tapas and drinks. You have four sangrias to choose from as well as a mimosas and a Bloody Mary option and we tried them all. For food we had all the non-pork or seafood options and we were even hungry to order more for a second round. They have a great variety of Spanish, Mexican, and American brunch foods. Our favorite items were the beef and chicken empanadas, huevos rancheros, pancakes, French toast, and plantains. In fact, since Matchbox is no longer unlimited brunch and TTT/Buena Vida closing La Malinche's brunch is the only bottomless food option left in DTSS other than the mediocre Blue Pearl buffet. We look forward to coming back!

Alex B.

Yelp
The best food in downtown Silver Spring. Incredible service and flavor in every small plate. Really enjoyed the interior aesthetic and will for sure be back soon.

Nube J.

Yelp
My partner and I stopped by here before a concert at the Fillmore next door. I wanted to come in for their brunch but I arrived a bit late! It was still well worth the visit. We tried some ham and cheese toasts, ceviche, pulpo, pork chop, plantains, empanadas, churros, and sopapillas. Everything was soooo delicious!! Service was amazing, different service staff came by our table and we found it to be very hospitable. Even the owner stopped by once, he was very kind! We tried two different flavors of the half-pitcher sangrias, the cava and the rosado. They were both strong and delicious, for a great price! Our favorites were probably the pulpo, ceviche, and pork chop. We will definitely be back for brunch!

Stephen K.

Yelp
Great food and service. Family friendly to boot! The empanadas are great, as is the yuca frita and shrimp tacos.

Fernando C.

Yelp
Have been here 3 times that I can remember. Brunch, happy hour, and dinner. I feel that's the perfect amount of experience to give a valid review of a restaurant. La malinche is a downtown silver Spring staple. Hidden away in a Colesville Rd shopping strip, but it is not to be forgotten. The food, drinks, and service are all worth a stop in. Some menu items that stuck out in my visits are the patatas bravas for HH and brunch, paella for dinner, and the cava sangria. The cava sangria was one of the best sangrias I've ever had in the states. I highly recommend you give this place a try. Avoid the white sangria, though, as it is pretty bland. Red and cava are good.

Fran D.

Yelp
A pleasant place with a different kind of menu and atmosphere for Silver Spring - interesting tapas for a variety of tastes. Glad it has succeeded so long at its downtown location.

Enith M.

Yelp
Located in a small hole in the wall, this restaurant is not well known, but delivers. A great choice of Spanish with a few other Mexican dishes. Parking is nearby to walk from and the restaurant is not visible. A small menu to choose from but what you do choose not only fills you up but is delicious! Try the Sangria! Enjoy the tapas! Come in for brunch! Come in for dinner but just come check out this place.

Ria C.

Yelp
I came here with my daughter last night, my daughter was the one who actually recommended it and I'm glad she did! You can easily miss this place, thanks to my GPS it keeps bringing me to the back of the restaurant‍. With enough perseverance we pushed through and found the place. We opted to sit outside and we were immediately greeted by a nice server. He gave us the menu and asked if we needed help (he can probably tell we were newbies) and if we wanted something to drink. I ordered white wine cause I knew I wanted to eat some fish. So as a side note! My daughter and I had been looking for a Tapas restaurant to try, big serving is good, but we wanted a smaller plate in order for us to try and share different dishes. We ordered the: Montatidos de Jamon y queso (toasted bread, tomato spread, sliced manchego cheese with jamon serrano) it was sooooo freaking good! I love that I can tasted how fresh and sweet the tomatoes were, great contrast with the salty/sharpness of the meats and cheese. Chuleta de cerdo (grilled pork chops, mashed potatoes, sautéed spinach) the pork chops were nice and thin which really allowed the flavor penetrate the meat, I can taste the grilled flavor, I didn't eat much of this, my daughter hog the whole plate (she loves chuletas) I didn't even get to try the mashed potatoes. Salmon ( blackened salmon on a bed of brussel sprouts and fingerling potatoes drizzled with guajillo sauce) to be honest I enjoyed the brussel sprouts and the potatoes more than the salmon itself, the salmon was a bit dry and it lacked flavor on its own without the help of the actual sauce; however, I still enjoyed it and be willing to try it again. Mejillones al vapor (steamed mussels in white whine, garlic broth, with toasted bread My goodness! This was the best dish out of all of them! It was so good and they definitely didn't skimp on th mussels! The broth itself was so unforgettably delicious, I would literally sit there all day with my toasted bread dip it on their sauce, it was that damn delicious! Mussels were perfectly cooked, it wasn't the overcooked kind the one that's rubbery, who likes overcooked seafood? Not me! Love love this dish and this place! My daughter and I always get desserts and we can never decide on one, so we chose their sampler. Oh boy was I surprised when they brought big portions of 4 of their desserts: Flan, Tiramisu, Churros, and Sopapillas. All were equally good and all were taken home, cause they were a good portion size and we were stuffed from our dinner. Overall great service, great food, my daughter said 10 out of 10 she would come back! Try it out folks, support your local businesses. You won't regret it.

Michelle S.

Yelp
Hidden gem, hidden gem, HIDDEN GEM! Bottomless brunch includes drinks and tapas and the sangria's strong, the tapas options are both delicious and varied, and the service is quite hospitable. Definitely going to become a regular on weekends. We ordered patatas bravas, plantains, mejillones, huecos rancheros, and dátiles and they were all to die for. Support this local business!

Brian R.

Yelp
My wife and I really enjoyed our first visit to La Malinche the other night. Cute little restaurant in the middle of Downtown Silver Spring. Highlights included the Mexican Mule cocktail, chicken skewers, and chicken croquettes. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be visiting again.

Jasmine N.

Yelp
I came here last Friday with my parents who were visiting and we had a wonderful evening. One of the owners sat us and was super pleasant. I believe his name was Lucas, and he and my parents hit it off and chatted up most of the night! When we sat, my mother and i split a pitcher of sangria and my dad ordered a beer (both good). To start, we got plantains, calamari, and empanadas (all good). Then we ordered the pork chop with mashed potatoes and spinach, salmon, and the carne azada with chimichurri and mashed potatoes and spinach. All were so good! Especially the carne azada! The meat was tender and melted in your mouth! Then for dessert my father ordered a cappuccino and we got the sampler which came with churros, flan, tres leches, and sopaipillas. It was delicious! Especially the sopaipillas! It was my first time having them, and was pleasantly surprised! Def a must have! Overall, we had a great experience. My parents were visiting me so it was nice to show them a good time. Special thank you to the owner Lucas who ensured we had a good evening and made my parents visit enjoyable!

Kristen J.

Yelp
Had a reservation for brunch on Mother's Day. It is one of those restaurants where your whole party has to be seated before they will take your order. (One in our party of 5 was late so we sat there being ignored for awhile.) I only mention because the brunch menu has "Unlimited" Tapas if the whole table participates (which we did). They could have started bring food out as everything came out at different times anyway. Food was good but I'm not sure everything we ordered came out. However I left feeling full so it was all good. Food really was delicious. Restaurant is small and was packed. Service was okay... so I doubt I will go out of my way to go back.

Jillian R.

Yelp
I've come here so many times over the years & realized my original review is now 5 years old, and wanted to update it. This is my go to spot before a concert at The Fillmore & I can't tell you how many pitchers of sangria I've consumed here over the years. I finally tried the blush one a couple of months ago and I'm a convert now, it's by far the best one on the menu. The bacon wrapped dates, steak tacos, shrimp in garlic sauce, prosciutto wrapped asparagus, chicken croquettes, empanadas & chips & guac are some of my absolute favorites. I've never had to wait to be seated and all of the staff has always been great anytime I've been here. 10/10 will keep recommending and returning here!

Yelp
This is one of the best unlimited (or, "all you can eat) brunches that I have been to in the area, or maybe anywhere. The food is great quality which isn't always the case for unlimited brunches. Also, the drinks are pretty good and there are choices - not just traditional mimosas. Lastly, the service is pretty legit. I recommend arriving around 11 or 12 before the big rush around 1. I just wish my belly could fit more food so that I can enjoy many more options. However, my strategy is to start out with veggies and proteins, and work myself to the carbs, particularly the sweet potato pancakes and plantain. I definitely recommend this place if you are in the downtown Silver Spring area, and after you can take a walk around Silver Spring to burn off the unlimited drinks :) I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Dinner for 3 on a Friday night at 6. When we arrived the restaurant was empty. It filled within an hour. Speciality cocktails were very good, we had a second round during dinner. We ordered seafood soup and an appetizer of toasted bread. Both were very good. I had grilled chicken skewers, my dining partner had tacos. Service was very good. Total bill for 3, including drink was 120

Yelp
Food is fantastic. If they spruced up the place, I might come here to eat more often. Mostly, we order in for date night at home. Scallops are beyond and the tortilla espanola tastes like you're in Barcelona!

Yelp
This place is so darn good I had to take 2 groups of +10 people here within a week! I made reservations days ahead for bottomless brunch and the staff here is very accommodating. I made sure to try all 4 of the sangria's. Loved the tinta- red wine and cava- white grape juice. The tapas we kept re ordering we're the French toast, pan catalana, bacon wrapped dates, albongidas, calamari and the bistec Mexicano. The steak with the eggs were cooked to perfection and seasoned very well. The menu is not heavy on eggs and they have a nice variety of flavors. The combination of sweet and savory definitely satisfies everyone's tastes buds. Service here is great even with the hectic brunch crowd. Food comes out quickly and our drinks kept getting refilled. This is definitely the perfect bday celebration spot. If you're in the area looking for bottomless brunch this is the spot. Prices are reasonable and the food here is delicious!

Yelp
Great really good service. Great tapas the menu had. Of the classic . Ganbas aljillo, albondigaa pulpo a la plancha and on and on. All of the dishes we had were so good. The service by the entire staff was friendly and timely. My daughter love the churros The wife and me have Stella on draft and the glasses went on point. We definitely consider coming back ....

Yelp
Tapas & Tequila, what more can you ask for on Friday winter evening! La Malinche has been saved on my Yelp for Happy Hour for over a year so I was so excited to finally try it! Brought my friend here who recently relocated to downtown Silver Spring. This place is nestled right on Georgia Ave, a few doors down from the Filmore concert venue. I was greeted by many staff during my arrival, no reservation needed, just took about 5 mins or so to have seats by the bar. We didn't make happy hour time but the prices are still amazing, ranging from $6-13 for tapas options and drinks started from $8 which are their Sangrias. I tried 2 of their 4 sangrias and my favorite was the La Tinta. As for food, there are so many options, we ended up choosing 4 tapa plates to share: Calamari, Ceviche (I requested tortilla chips to go with it), Salmon w/ fingerling potatoes & brussel sprouts, and Gambas (Shrimp in white wine & garlic sauce). Everything was really good, my only suggestion is to fry the calamari a little longer. My favorite of the 4 was the ceviche, very delicious! We spoke to the owner Lucas, who checked on us and everyone in the restaurant quite often. Very nice, humble man who you can tell loves his business and appreciates his staff. The ambiance of the restaurant is really relaxing, light melodic Spanish music in the background. Great place for a date, HH, or to bring the family. I enjoyed my evening here and cannot wait to come back to try their margaritas this time and more tapas! I heard from some of their regular patrons the brunch is amazing so will try that soon as well. Love La Malinche!
