La MaMá

"The essence of this restaurant remains unaltered in its new location on Avenida de Brasil, where it is run with total dedication by María Brufau and chef Marcos Toranzo, the latter trained at the Luis Irizar cookery school and at the award-winning El Ermitaño restaurant. In this contemporary setting featuring touches of elegance, choose between an à carte featuring big-hearted traditional cuisine which is impressively complemented by two tasting menus (Los Clásicos and the seasonally inspired De Temporada)." - Michelin Inspector

A big applause !!! This place is incredible. We chose this restaurant for our last night and it was the best end for this trip. Honestly everything here was so good- top notch service, the yummiest food and a classic yet humble vibe! Love it. We truly enjoyed every bite we ate but if I need to recommend I will definitely get the cod tortilla (which we got two because it was so good). Save a place and enjoy your dinner here.

We treat ourselves once or twice each city we visit and this was our best in Madrid. There is an English menu for us non-Spanish speakers, and very helpful staff. We chose 3 start dishes, 2 mains (the steak 1/2 portion) and a dessert to share, and asked the wait staff to pick wines by the glass to suit. All very good. We arrived unfashionably early at 1:30pm and the restaurant was buzzing by the time we left 2 hours later, replete and happy. Probably best to book if they are this busy on a Thursday lunchtime!

Sadly the dinner was way too below our expectations. Despite very attentive and flexible service- shout out to a friendly blonde waitress- the tasting menu called “season” was very basic and tired-looking. Considering it’s spring we expected refreshing dishes, not root, grey root vegetables, bland tastes with no creativity how to put a twist and bring up the most out of the products. Shocked with their michellin recognition which made us book this restaurant in the first place…lesson learned

Went here on Saturday. Food was excellent, we had some appetizers that the waitress recommended and they were super good (see photos). As a main course, we had Iberico from Salamanca, Tuna Steak, Cod & Artichokes. They were all excellent, but the tuna steak was my favourite. We also had desert, cheesecake and a brownie. They were also very tasty. The service was also very good, very kind staff. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We tried the classic menu and it was superb. We really loved the artichoke starter and the chipirones. The price-quality ratio is perfect. Moreover the quality of the ingredients is exquisite and the taste is rich. The only thing I would point out is that maybe some dishes lack a bit of originality, but I guess that’s why it was called the “classic menu”. Service was also really attentive, accommodating and overall great!

overall nice and casual vibe! tried the 7-course seasonal tasting menu and my fav was the low-temperature egg with truffle, seasonal mushrooms and Iberian broth—super tasty soup base! moscato was really good too. only thing was that some of the dishes were a bit salty for me

Lovely restaurant with great and friendly service. We got an apperatif on the house, prawn wonton, anchovies and croquettas for appetizer and for appetizers and the pork cheek and iberian pork for mains. The food was good, I really want to stress that before I write my critique. With all the great reviews the restaurant got as well the the Bib Gourmand we were really excited to try this one. However while the food was good, we could not help but feel a little underwhelmed. Maybe it is because we had not gone with the tasting menu, we are not sure. Despite that our only real critique of the food is that one of the croquettas was still cold in the middle and the pork cheek was a little tough. Regardless the food was good, we just set our expectations too high we think.
