"La Mano Coffee Bar, an independent coffee shop in Takoma, is closing after nearly five years. It offers a variety of coffee options using beans from Ceremony Coffee Roasters and made-from-scratch bakery items. The decision to close was influenced by personal reasons, including co-owner Javier Rivas's desire to spend more time with family. Specials and sales are expected throughout February to move goods and merchandise. The shop's hours were reduced starting February 5." - Tierney Plumb

Great little coffee spot. The cappacino's are exceptional. And they have wonderful scones. The only slight downside is that there isn't much seating, so sometimes it's tight. Maybe not the best place to meet a friend for coffee (unless you're lucky enough to get the one table!) But I love the coffee and baked goods. Staff is friendly, too!

Small, locally owned and the Barista/os were very personable and knowledgeable with suggestions based on my chain store experiences.

I love this place! My son (infant) and I go every weekend. The coffee is amazing and the biscuit breakfast sandwiches are so yummy! Also, all the delicious (with gluten free and vegan options) baked goods are baked in house and are to die for - do not pass up the fig bars!

Small coffee shop with good espresso drinks and a surprisingly large food selection. I had one of their lattes which was very good as well as their kale and feta quiche. It's pretty small inside with limited seating, so it's good for a quick stop, not really to linger.

Great coffee spot right by Takoma Metro station. I had a breakfast sandwich and a mocha. They're fresh local and I'm so happy they carry Ceremony Coffee too! Staff is friendly and very good at remembering faces and your favorite order. Small spot with a big heart.

The staff is very rude. I've given them 3 opportunities. The coffee is decent and its awesome they open at 7. A few of other local coffee places open at 8 or 9 but that is too late for me to stop before my commute. I can't go back though. The staff is not only rude, they are slow. And don't about your pastry even if 15 minutes have passed and you have watched half a dozen people leave that came in after you. They'll let you know they will get to you when they get to you and point out it is rude to ask. Unbelievable experience....

It makes me laugh how hard they are trying to make this place a pretentious hipster spot. Even the most very basic thing you'd expect to find at a coffee shop (a cup of coffee), they've managed to complicate and the staff is all too eager to pejoratively tell you "our house coffee is an Americano." But I could get over that and learn to love this place if the service wasn't so atrocious. I've been here twice and both times the woman working treats me like I have no place being there and it's killing her having to serve people today. Also, they only have 2% or soy milk, so if you're like me and believe coffee deserves whole milk or creamer, you're out of luck my friend.

Coffee is amazing. The bagels are amazing - especially the cranberry orange. The donuts are SO GOOD. They've got a great variety of food - yogurt bowls, hand pies, quiches, biscuit sandwiches - all made in house.
