The 15 Best Oaxacan Restaurants In LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"This market and eatery in DTLA’s South Park is Expresión Oaxaqueña’s sister location, selling a wide selection of Oaxacan chocolate, meats, imported cheeses, baked goods, and produce. The shop’s long pastry case is enough to keep us transfixed for ten minutes, but their food is equally terrific. While both the tlayuda tortilla and bean paste are the same as the ones found at Expresión Oaxaqueña, La Mayordomía offers the option to add chapulines (a.k.a. fried grasshoppers) and minced moronga that’s crispy around the edges." - sylvio martins

Needs to consider changing management or re-train them. Bad customer service from the management today and cashiers around 2:30pm . We asked to get the managers name, and they refused.I don't need to get into too much details but, I have a handicap son that was disrespected today. I know I'm not the only one, and that's why I'm advocating for him, so in the near future, no one gets treated badly.

Let me tell you guys as an ex employee from this place unfortunately a lot of people don’t realize that a lot of their Masa, and mole etc has been dropped on the floor bagged up and still handed to the costumers. One time Infront of the owner the wife one of the employees spilled a pot of Chile an when I tell you the owner told the employee to put it all in the pot as they giggled they handed the pot to the customer like nothing happened I was very disgusted that day. The employees their well some of them are nice others are very rude and discriminate against each other which is why I left it was a very hostile envoirment and the owners didn’t care.

Google
It is a small Latino market. They have lots of products imported ( as I believe) from Oaxaca, Mexico. The staff is friendly but little unorganized. They have a sign in the door saying that only 5 people can be inside the business, but people keep coming and no one said a thing, I counted 11 people and they come after me to tell me to wait outside when I was trying to get something else, I left the place, but still 10 customers were inside, that's ironic.

Yelp
Amazing masa for tortillas. Different types of meat, chicken, carne asada, chicharron, queso fresco, frijoles, tortillas, fruits and vegetables. Pan dulce. They have a delicious cafe de olla that's not advertised but I saw a lady getting a hot cup once and I get it every time. Sometimes they have fresh tamales and chile rellenos and traditional oaxacan drinks on the weekends. It's s bit tight inside but they have lots of different spices, beans, fresh bread, candy, nuts, mezcal, tequila, etc. Service has gotten a lot better and just enjoy the experience of being there. It's mostly locals that go there all the time so they know the drill. It's a fun and convenient spot.

Yelp
If you're in need of fresh Mexican products, Oaxacan products to be exact this is the place to go. They have the bigger round tortillas you can use for tlayudas/clayudas (Oaxacan pizza), they also carry all the ingredients and the original yummy Oaxacan shreded cheese. Besides they have fruits/veggies, sweet bread (so fresh), seasonings, desserts, and all you can think of. Plus their cafe de olla (cinammon & dark mexican sugar coffee) is delightful. Service is very attentive even when they're crazy busy. It's very small inside, so try not to block anyone on the bread picking area. Parking in this plaza is a nightmare but be patient and give la mayordomia a chance, you won't regret it.

Yelp
First time disappointed! Their masa isn't good for making tamales! My mom worked so hard to make them and the masa just was awful! Spent over $70 in food prep for tamales and now we didn't have the tamales we usually get when we buy from them. So sad we don't even know where they could have gone wrong with the way they prepared the masa!

Yelp
No compren garbanzo molido tiene gorgojo. Y no te lo cambian pork según dan solo 24 hr para cambiarlo. . No me gusta el servicio ya. $10 tirados a la basura. Si pudiera no les daría ni una estrella.

Gema G.

Yelp
Beware they have no expiration dates on their flans, cakes or gelatinas. I bought a couple on 6/1/2023 and this morning when I was about to give to my toddler it had mold all on the top and I realized there was no expiration dates on any of the products, flan, pastel de tres leches, and the gelatinas. I called and they said oh yeah we know, I told them I'm calling the city and they said ok.

Yelp
Please do better!!!

Yelp

Yelp
MAKE SURE to take 3 forms of identification, Social Security number, Date of Birth Certificate, and Passport. I tried buying $13 worth of bread and they could refused to sell without proper identification. Go elsewhere. I felt like I was at the Bank or under investigation.

Yelp
Love everything except fathers way you have to order your meat in place and than you have to make a line to pay it

Janeth A.

Yelp
El servicio es terrible. La muchacha que esta chaparita y tiene cara de que vende dulces en oaxaca es la peor. No save comunicarse con los clientes y tiene cero idea de que es buen customer service!

Yelp
I stopped by for some tortillas, and they were fresh and amazing. Nothing tastes artificial or like chemicals, unlike Guerrero tortillas. Highly recommend the conchas and the tostadas as well.

Yelp
I am Oaxcan i loved coming here to buy oaxacan stuff but these ladies in here have a bad attitude there not specific and they are very rude never coming back here and on top they have long faces no smiles at all horrible!

Yelp
Very Rude! They're not friendly, rude, seem annoyed, and have horrible customer service. They act like it's not part of their job to answer questions about their products and make people feel bad for asking questions. Horrible Horrible Horrible. I can't say more than that. I'll be taking my business to "El Gallo Giro" They have great customer service and they're friendly!

Yelp
Very rude customer service...they're all in a bad mood...takes at least 20 minutes to purchase something...

Yelp
I always come to this place to buy three things because they are delicious. I buy their tortillas, quesillo, and tamales. I cant speak for the bread or other things they sell. To me the staff is always friendly maybe because I can be rude and sarcastic too if they try to act that way with me. Overall, I will keep coming back to this place as long as the items I buy are avaliable.

Yelp
Great Mexican market to get your Oaxacan delicacies! Fully stocked pan dulce (sweet bread) of all types. From chocolate to fruits & vegetables to simple groceries and butcher shop they can get most items off your grocery list.

Yelp
We love going there for the bread and they always have nice fresh bread. Today when we went though, the bread was super hard and stale. Our other ones were fine but the the pan amarillo they gave us was was hard and difficult to bite into. We drive all the way out there from the SFV so it was very disappointing. We will search for another place to find fresher bread.

Yelp
We recently moved to this side of the city. All the bakery's by our house either close early or the bread isn't good and expensive. This place is delicious. The bread is soft and not expensive. The staff was very friendly and they close late. I will continue going here.

Yelp
I wouldn't revisit this place even if I was paid. The customer service is awful. I made the error of coming to this place on Halloween . It was very busy but the cashier and attendants were rude and unprofessional. I was standing in line to pay 4 items for 15 minutes. The cashier had a long line and she kept letting people she knew go in and out of the line. When I was about to pay she allowed 3 of her friends or people she knew just cut in front of me saying Oh they were in line ahead of you. I think I would of noticed that before. Then when I asked for meat and masa she acted annoyed . I had already asked for the masa ahead of time. She sent me back to order even though I had already told her that I had already ordered it. She made me wait another 5 minutes while my items were right behind her. She apologizes to the other people in line like if I had done anything wrong . She should of apologized to me for making 2 transactions for items she could of charge me once for. Never again
