A neighborhood grocery with an in-house tortillería turning out fragrant nixtamal tortillas and a taco counter locals rave about. Spotlighted by the Raincross Gazette for its chicharrón and masa-driven menu.

Google
Best carnitas and cueritos tacos I ever had 💖 i get the lil tacos, with all toppings con todo. This is my comfort food, i'm so happy La Mazorca Market is on my street! They also are a grocery and convenient store with fresh produce and cleaning supplies. They have parking in back, and one table in front.

Google
This is truly a hidden gem, if your lo9king for carnitas this is the spot. I fell in love with their tacos mixtos (carnitas and cueritos) I have to come here at least once a week. The flavor is absolutely wholesome and comforting. They have the best price on fresh nixtamal and great tortillas made here fresh in the tortilleria.

Google
Absolutely the best Carnitas and corn tortillas 🤯

Google
La Mazorca Market is a mom & Pop business. The very first thing I noticed is the cleanliness of this place. They also have delicious meals from the take out menu. I usually order the small carne asada tacos and the carne asada burritos. They also make masa from scratch as well as selling the pork lard. Here is what Google has to say about the benefits of using pork lard: "Using pork lard in cooking offers several benefits, including its high smoke point, which makes it ideal for high-heat cooking like frying, its naturally rich flavor, a high content of monounsaturated fats considered heart-healthy, and the potential for added vitamin D if sourced from pasture-raised pigs; however, it's important to consume it in moderation due to its fat content." You can also call and order ahead of time.

Google
Their tortillas are delicious. Made daily everyday. When you open their doors you can smell the nixtamal amazing!!!

Google
Some of the best Carnitas I've had. They just need to work on their salsas to make it a great all around experience. They tortillas are fresh so that enhances the flavor of the carnitas. They also have a great selection of tamales on a regular not just during the holidays.

Google
Just discovered this little corner market. They have the best tortillas. Fresh, minimal ingredients like in the old days and the taste....like tortillas should taste. Meat is very good quality also.

Yelp
We stopped to pick up some food for our big bear trip, carnitas, cueritos, and chicharrones were all excellent the tortillas super fresh and the salsas complemented the food, highly recommended!

Yelp
La comida está buena pero la señora que atiende siempre está de malas. Siempre me quita las ganas de comer su modo de ser. The food is good but the lady who's always there is always rude and grumpy. She makes my appetite go away. Honestly I would only go back to buy tortillas

Yelp
They have really good carnitas. They recommended me to try the mix; buche, cuerito and carnitas mix and it was sooo good. I've bought the family pack a few times and my family also really loved it. The family pack includes rice, beans, tortillas and salsa

Yelp
If you are within walking distance, then I believe this is a great option for the carniceria. There is a lot within a small space, but the meat area is clean and the staff are friendly. I had one small carne asada taco and one small carnitas taco, along with a coconut aloe drink. The carne asada was somewhat spicy (for me), but I definitely liked the carnitas!

Yelp
They have great deals! Food is really fresh and delicious. Anyone that needs to budget can feed up 6 people with their special #2. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Like any other Mexican market, only more so. La Mazorca is feminine noun meaning corn cob. This market is tiny, and super packed with only the things one really needs in life. Their tamales rival those of Mrs. Yelper, their Chicharrón keeps me and my Signora in crunchy happiness (her doggie, too), their masa is richly fortified with manteca, and they make tortillas onsite. Add some great Carnitas and some other things that would make the squeamish uncomfortable and you have a solid winner. Among the best finds in Rivertown.

Yelp
Very bad service, owners and workers are super rude plus food options are limited and it's flavorless, ambiance it's also bad, once you enter, someone is arguing about something!

Yelp
One of those spots you walk into and know your food is about to make you shit, fart and cum all at once. Carnitas are a must.

Yoly S.

Yelp
Best corn tamales ! Reminds me of the ones they make in Michoacán.The carnitas are also delicious they are not so dry .

Yelp
Spotted this little gem when we were driving around. When we walked in, we immediately noticed the area where they were making tortillas. Continued to walk and saw the carnicería and hot food sections. We ended up ordering a carnitas sope, birria combo, and some tamales. Ended up getting some yummy pastries called alfajores. All the food was delicious.

Yelp
I go to this place for carnitas. They are good so are the maiz tortillas. But the lady behind the counter in the kitchen has been really rude. She snaps at you like you are bothering her when you are there to just buy something. She has a job because of us customers stopping buy. Makes it so uncomfortable to even go here because of her attitude. I didn't want to be rude and call her out on it. But maybe I should have mentioned it because if you are in the customer service industry you need to have a good attitude.

Yelp
The carnitas are always on point extremely juicy and full of flavor. Usually I go to a place and they loose there touch or inconsistent but not here. The asada is good apastor is okay but service is really good and they make the tortillas fresh there as well

Yelp
We have lived up the street from this market for a few years and never thought to pay them a visit. We are currently experiencing the coronavirus pandemic and there is no meat anywhere. Stopped in to see what prepared food they had for take out and was pleasantly surprised their meat counter was practically full! they also have a nice selection of groceries, snacks, and cleaning supplies. We grabbed tacos de pollo, asada, and pastor. All of them were EXCELLENT!! The tamales were also amazing! We got both elote and pollo. Pricing was very reasonable! Was able to grab all the supplies I needed to make pozole this weekend for the family. That was a plus! All the employees were extremely friendly, place was clean and organized. Im definitely returning again soon!! Parking is behind the building, not a ton of spaces but its enough for the amount of traffic they probably receive.

Yelp
The people at this place are wonderful, I have come to know and respect them. Their food is amazing and they know me by name. There is no place I return to as much as this one!

Anita A.

Yelp
Come here for my tamale making masa. Fresh and tasty, made on site. Have been getting my masa here for many years.

Yelp
If you're craving "carnitas" this place is the spot to go! Tacos, tortas, or burritos. Which ever you choose. They are all great, the savory flavors of the meat are mouthwatering and authentic!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent quality! I could come here everyday for the carnitas and cueritos. Best flour and corn tortillas around. The staff always does there best to get you in and out fast because they are always very busy! Favorite spot in our local area
google avatar

Carlitos W.

Yelp
Carnitas, buche and cueritos were great! The buche is my favorite and it was nice and soft. Tortillas were really good to

Yelp
This place has the best Carnitas! Besides it being a market with fresh meats and veggies, it has so many combo options of hot Mexican foods, fresh tortillas, tamales, birria, masa and guacamole and salsas. On weekends early AM they have menudo too! By far my favorite place that I've found in Riverside!

Noemi C.

Yelp
This is where I always buy my masa now. Giving it 3 stars because last time I bought it, came out too salty. Other times it was really good. Will update after Xmas when I see how this batch comes out

Yelp
At first I thought this was just a little market and when I went inside I was greeted by the kindest lady and she helped me to see what I wanted and I wanted some carne asada tacos and they were they best tacos i've ever had. Would highly recommend to someone seeking some amazing tacos!!

Enrique A.

Yelp
Was sent here to get some food and I'm glad it was recommended. Its a small market but the food here is delicious. Everyone is friendly and great carnitas with different combos available. It is a bit out of my way but will definitely make my way back soon! Good place to get some food instead of the fast food locations.

Yelp
We decided at the last minute to make tamales this year for Christmas. Pretty much all the grocery stores have gone downhill in making masa so I didn't know what to do this morning when the one popular place on Madison was sold out. (They were also VERY rude!) I remembered a recommendation from a FB post about La Mazorca. When I walked in I was greeted by the kindest lady. She helped me and had the workers prepare my masa exactly to my liking! When they were done preparing the masa one of the workers carried it out to the car for me and I didn't even ask. What a wonderful experience and a blessing! Thank you to the employees at La Mazorca and Merry Christmas!

Yelp
My co worker and I order a burrito half meat type...the lady there was rude and said we cant do that anymore? We have been here before and enjoyed excelent service and excelent burritos. A cook in the back over heard and told the lady make them thier half and half burritos the way they want. She was visably upset and barked to her assitant load up with rice and beens and very little meat? I understand spanish and was disapointed by her actions. I dont know if i will ever go back. I am new to this but felt the need to say some thing. Same on you mazorca market. Former loyal cutomer

Yelp
They have good food the only thing I don't like is that they don't use gloves to prep food but the ladies are nice and friendly
google avatar

Yelp
The best carnitas in town hands down. Fresh tortillas to top it all off too. They got some other good food as well.

Yelp
If you at all follow my reviews you know I like Tacos. Not those Fake ass taco bell tacos but real tacos. Sometimes I get these cravings and I just can't help it, I got to have them. This latest episode hit me at 9am, actually sooner and this was my first available opportunity. I hit up one of the most consistent average/good taco spot, Tijuana Tacos. I've noticed them open at this time and I knew what I would be getting. One thing bothered me though....No all you can eat bean with mystery meat and hot dog. I equate this to having a cheeseburger without the cheese and it is not going to happen, not on my watch. I panicked for a minute. I knew of one other place, actually a few but they would have been out of the way. So I finally scratched the itch. I went to La Mazorca. This place had caught my eyes for a few years. Not so much for its location or its building architecture, not so much on any of these. They make masa, so I assume they have fresh tortillas. This is the floor plan of a good taco. Without a good tortilla a taco is just meat with shit on it that you eat with a fork, hence not a taco, I don't know what you call that? I will say one thing. The outside of La Mazorca it does not overpromise! The carneceria/taco is hidden around the corner and took me a minute to find and this place is tiny. I was kind of tempted to leave but the guy had already seen me and I think It would bother me forever knowing I was so close to finally adding or omitting La Mazorca as one of my go to places, after all I had I high hopes...fresh tortillas. I never really found out if the tortillas were fresh or not and it probably didn't matter since they dipped them in oil, not a fan. I've had too many good tacos that eliminated this process and I don't feel it really ads anything other than greasy hands and fat/calories. The meat was just kind of sitting there and mashed up and cut up. At one point I really couldn't tell which I was eating and it tasted the same and I saw him get it from two different trays. One good thing did come out of this experience; I no longer pass this place in wonder of the greatness that I could possibly behold. I will say this on its behalf, I talked to a few people about this place and after I was shamed and reprimanded for my negative commentary, I was assured that their tacos are acutally good and it was my fault for going so early and eating yesterday's leftover meat and to top it off I was told I wouldn't understand because I'm not a real Mexican anyway. Either way I guess it's just more tacos for them....and anyone else who doesn't heed my advice/warnings/threats!

Yelp
The food is "eh"! Still haven't made up my mind about it because there is so much inconsistency with the taste. I know that food made from scratch will vary "slightly" each time you make a different batch but this place most certainly changes their recipes very often. Their tamales started off tasting good, then alright, then just plain nasty! Their menudo was decent ( I have high standards for that and no one has met them) and now its not! The carnitas are tasty but sometimes they're overcooked. The chicharron is almost always overcooked with a few pieces being spared and you cant even choose your pieces so forget about weeding out the good stuff, so you're sure to get the burned chicha! And don't even think of asking them for the good stuff because you'll get eaten alive! So there, I wont be returning here again!

Yelp
Their tacos are the best!!! Tamales OK- very nice but the AsadaTacos.. OH MY GOD they are good. and it´s inexpensive. I will go back.. it´s worth the drive . We sat outside at a table . It´s more of a store than a restaurant. so they don´t have many tables.

Randall W.

Yelp
I come every once in a while on my lunch break always good and delicious never no compliant.. This time the lady I never seen try to tell us we can only get 1 meat in our burrito when we always get 2 the guy over herd and said they can get 2 then she gave us a lot of beans and rice very little meet was very disappointed don't know if I will ever go back I guess we shall see!

Yelp
1:30pm on Saturday, its a little out of the way but the food is great, tried the buche, lengua and asada tacos and it was all good. They even throw in some roasted onions and peppers, parking is small and eating there can be challenge but it is well worth it. If you are lucky they will still have hot tortillas that you can take home and their meat prices are good.
