The 16 Best Wine Bars In Rome - Rome - The Infatuation

"La Mescita crams a bunch of tiny wooden tables into its space, with several more spots outside for when you want to fully embrace your Mediterranean vacation. The natural wine list and food menu are mostly Italian classics—think Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and ricotta toast—with a few wildcards thrown in, like a spicy mayo chicken taco and a Spanish white blend. There’s another location in Monteverde, but the Garbatella one is more lively—think a crowd in their early to mid-30s, who like to have fun but aren’t going to insist on chugging rosé." - annie replogle

The quality of this place has significantly declined over the past two years. The food is overpriced and lacks substance. There's an over-reliance on trendy ingredients like avocado, without any real depth in flavor. While the wine list may seem extensive in theory, in practice you're only offered 3 options, often pushing the house's "natural" wine, which tastes more like vinegar than actual wine. It's a shame, as this used to be an exceptional place. Now, it's a real disappointment.

Great food, great wine and wine knowledge to share with the clients. Peaceful and nice ambient/location even if it is close to the road. You can have both aperitif or dinner! For the wine and food qualities the prices are definitely worth it!

What a discovery! A neighbourhood wine and tapas bar that welcomed us like family. We arrived without a booking and they accommodated us without fuss. All wines were delicious and recommended to us well. The small plates were also fantastic. It was such a shame to leave at the end of the night; it felt like we were at a party! We got recommended here by a restaurant in the city and it’s worth the taxi out.

Amazing place. The best organic wine and lovely people. One of the worthest places to go in the heart of Garbatella district!

Careful choice of wines to excellent effect. Well prepared menu using fairly locally sourced ingredients. Delicious, well balanced. Will return again happily. Service quick and with a smile! A new favourite. Decent prices. Prebook advised. Rare in a busy bistro but they make you feel welcome and part of the local scene. Bravi.

I really appreciate the organic wines, they really do a great job on their selection. The service is quick and friendly enough but seems a bit better if you're Italian. If you come after 8pm it will surely be buzzing. Tables are a bit close together though, when the bar is packed moving around gets difficult. I'm actually glad they don't do aperocena but eventhough the portions of bruchetta or other antpasti could be a bit more generous for the price about €6-8 for three slices.
