La Mexicana Grill

La Mexicana Grill has been on my “want to go” list for so long before they offer tofu as a protein, which is pretty unusual! I finally picked up lunch here last week and got a vegetarian burrito with grilled tofu added. The burrito was loaded with perfectly cooked fajita veggies, guac, rice and beans, pico de gallo, and wonderfully seasoned grilled tofu. It was so good!! The service was friendly and fast, and they even provided me with a coupon for $10 off my next order because I was a new customer. Awesome spot!

Have ordered from here a handful of times and I must say the food has always been consistently great! Things I’ve ordered so far are the Chicken Enchiladas, Maduros, Steak Tacos, and Grilled Tilapia Bowl. Highly recommend especially if you’re looking for a healthier choice!

I had a party catered a couple of weeks ago and the food and service were absolutely outstanding. Everything was so delicious and fresh. The staff setting everything up were so polite and prompt. I've been eating their food for years, but this was my first experience with catering and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you all!! Christina

I’ve been searching for a California burrito since I moved to Chicago and this one didn’t disappoint! This place is a new favorite of mine. Have started ordering here for lunch a few times a week.

The food was good: however from maps, the site said I should download the app, so I did. The app then orders from another location at Wrigley, so I had to travel a good bit further than expected where parking is a lot harder. The app doesn't appear to allow pick up orders at this location. I wish that was clear before I placed the order. The app also shows a taco salad with sour cream and guacamole, but then says they are an extra charge. Kind of misleading... And expensive.

The food is really good. Fast service, great portion size. The place is very new, nice and clean.

We pickup or get burritos delivered, and they are always consistently great. Ordering directly through their website is easy, the delivery drivers are efficient and follow drop-off instructions, and you get points toward future orders. This is our go-to for a quick, filling, not too expensive dinner.

The food here is so delicious and well seasoned. We had the steak tacos and we had their surf n turf bowls with plantains. The owner is very friendly and cares a lot about his customers and place.

I was walking by the newly opened La Mexicana Grill and finally decided to give it a try after having driven past it a thousand times! It was night, so the outside colorful and brightly lit sign and large windows really drew me in the establishment. I was immediately impressed by the bright and cheerful decor of Aztec motif walls, nice new tables and chairs and a very clean floor. The two young guys working were extremely friendly and very patient as I looked over the rather extensive menu (even offering a cup of water) ...containing all the usual dishes offered at any decent Mexican restaurant. From quesadillas, tacos, burritos, chips, guacamole, to deserts of fried ice cream, tres leche cake and even a side order of fried plantain and much more!!! After quizzing my order taker about the fried plantains, I went with a side of plantains ($7.99) and a steak and shrimp burrito having rice, corn, avocado, avocado sauce and sour cream...if I forgot anything else on this burrito, just know it was REALLY DELICIOUS and well worth $13.99 because it was rather large. The steak was well seasoned and succulent of a good quality. Not at all chewy and the shrimp were not overcooked, but to perfection. The sign of a good young chef. You also get a choice of green or red salsa. A side note, I cut the burrito in half and had the remaining half for lunch the next day and it was as good as the day before! I'm a sucker for plantain anything and these didn't disappoint. They were nicely fried, covered with a tad of melted cheese (the right amount) and served with a side of sour cream. My order taker stated he'd hadn't tried them prior to seeing my order, but they looked so tasty he said he would...priceless! I very much enjoyed my first time experience in La Mexicana Grill and the young staff, such a great first impression. Looking forward to trying more delicious offerings!

My goal is to try 50 new Chicago restaurants in 2025! Restaurant: 53/50 Month tried: September Favorite dish: Quesadilla This flashy spot on Clark really stands out compared to some of the more hole-in-the-wall Mexican spots. They have a large menu and staff was very friendly. I got a chicken quesadilla that had lots of chicken and veggies in it, and it really hit the spot. The guac portion was small, but the chips were good. They notified me that my order was ready for pickup about 10 minutes before it actually was, so I had to sit and wait. Overall it was good and I definitely will come back!

Stopped in La Mexicana Grill after meeting some folks at Max's for drinks (Where Friends Meet Friends). I had a taste for Mexican food but didn't want to walk all the way down to Lindo, so I stopped in here to grab some food. The interior was shiny, new and clean. As you walked in, there is a kiosk where you can place your order. You also have the option of ordering from the counter and online. The gentleman behind the counter greeted me with a smile and took my order. The wait for the food was not that long. Once I got it home, I surveyed the goods. Everything was hot and fresh. The flavors were very nice and I loved everything except the rice. It wasn't bad, but just sort of ok, nothing to write home about. That said, I would definitely order from here again. The burrito was a nice size and had plenty of meat. The refried beans were good, with a nice consistency. I love their carnitas, very tender and flavorful. La Mexicana Grill has a point system where you can save points towards purchases and for first time users ordering online, you get a $10 off card to use towards your next purchase within 7 days of your purchase. Best believe I will be using that card.

Yummmmmm!!! When this restaurant first arrived, I was a little yikes! It's pretty hard to come to the neighborhood right in between two well established Mexican restaurants.... However, way to level up!! The food is delicious and staff friendly! I won't be going anywhere else!!

Great staff, clean and delicious food, and bright! Highly recommend giving them a try!
