8 Last-Minute Plans For Father’s Day In London

"Society? Terrible. Jeremy Clarkson? A certified knob. People in general? Never liked them. If any of this is reminding you of your old man then we have the perfect Father’s Day plan for you. Rather than forcing your beloved grump to leave the house, bring dinner to the house instead. Our favourite Italian mammas - the chefs at La Mia Mamma - opened a deli in Notting Hill a while back, and you can swing by from 9.30am to pick up cold cuts, cheese, and freshly made sauces with pasta that you can just heat up at home. They also sell wine, biscuits, and chocolate, which is great because, according to your dad, they happen to be the three things on the planet that ‘Boris Johnson hasn’t bloody ruined’." - heidi lauth beasley

I was looking for an authentic Italian restaurant and La Mia clearly meets the criteria. The pizza was amazing ( tasted similar to the ones I had in Italy) - I ordered tomato basil pizza with additional- artichoke ,olive and onion toppings. Pasta was a white sauce one which I found just okay but my parents liked it . They gave us a complimentary plate of bruschetta which was really nice of them . For dessert , we ordered tiramisu which was also quite delicious. The portions were huge and quite filling. We paid 50£ in total for all of the above which wasn’t bad for a filing lunch between 3 people. Not to forget, this place gets busy and you may need to book in advance . The staff was very kind to have accommodated us even without a booking. Great service . Will come again for sure.

La Mia Mamma – Honest Thoughts The food was truly amazing homey, authentic, and full of flavour. The chef (a lovely mother) was kind and warm, which made the experience feel special. However, the overall service felt a bit disengaged staff seemed to be doing just the bare minimum. I didn’t remove the service charge out of courtesy, but it did feel like they weren’t too invested. Would still recommend for the food but hoping for a bit more heart from the front-of-house next time.

The food was good. I tried the all-you-can-eat pasta meal. It was nice, though I'm not a huge pasta fan, so my opinion might not be the most valid. I wouldn't get that again, as it was a birthday and a set menu. I probably wouldn't have picked certain dishes. But if you love pasta and cheese, this is for you. And the service was second to none; the staff were very attentive.

Really disappointed starters to share - I would not order anything again. The only good thing on the menu which is hard to not fail was the slow cooked ribs with mash, and we just took that to have a safe choice. Unfortunately non of the “Italian” dishes left any good impression and I wouldn’t come back.

We had a very positive experience dining at La Mia Mamma. Cocktails tasted good and our server was great on providing ideas on wine selection for our meal which was appreciated. Appetizers, entrees and deserts were all good and enjoyed by all. Prices are what you expect for Notting Hill.

The food was amazing! And the concept of the place is marvellous, they hire grandmas to cook and they bring their recipes. Sizes are big and the food is really tasty. Service was really attentive and nice.

Amazing place, we fell in love! The food was 100% giving ITALIAN! Super attentive and friendly stuff, and delicious plates. Home-made sourdough and pasta, with Gluten-free options. There are many delicious dishes to choose from, and even the desserts were super good quality! 100% musn't skip if you are in Notting Hill and enjoy italian homemade food.

The pizza we had wasn’t the best — it could definitely use some improvement. However, the atmosphere of the place was lovely and the staff were very friendly. I’ve heard that during the winter season it gets even better, and a friend of mine who lives permanently in Notting hill had a different (more positive) opinion. So maybe it was just an off day. I’d definitely visit again, and if the experience is better next time, I’ll be happy to update this review.
