Where To Eat and Drink in Albany Park

"Expect long lines at this colorful paleteria and neveria, so use the wait to narrow down selections from the enormous menu. Will it be ice cream, one of the many fruit-flavored paletas, or a chamoy-soaked mangoneada? Anything that combines sweet and spicy, like the mango-chile paleta, is a winner. If eaters aren’t ready for dessert, there are plenty of street food snacks, including elotes and tostilocos." - aimee.levitt, Eater Staff

Been to this place before in the past. Had small miscommunication with the staff at times but nothing major. Was always still polite to them despite them not knowing English. Recently I went there and stood in line. A Hispanic couple came behind me and was served before me, then came another Hispanic girl also severed before me and then a white family came and all these people were served ahead of me. Not one of the girls came and said hello or asked if I was taken care of. I just ended up walking out. I was overlooked just because of being black. Don't like bringing racism into things but it couldn't have been anything else. Their lack of unprofessionalism was insane. If your a fellow black person I would not recommend going in there as you may also be mistreated for absolutely no reason.

Ordered a funnel cake with sliced fruit and no ice cream. Was sent a funnel cake with banana and ice cream. It was leaking all over the bag. Then when we're almost done eating it I realize they had put it hot in the container so it had melted the plastic container which is why it was leaking. This means we also unknowingly ate plastic. Beyond disgusting. See photo I attached of melted container.

This ice cream shop has variety kind of ice cream flavors. Plus there are some interesting Mexican foods make fresh. The shop is easy to get in from the street. The taste is really unique. You can taste the real fruit from it.

This was my first time visiting this place to buy some yogurt, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. When I arrived, there were no clear instructions or signs indicating how the process works or whether there’s a queue system. Not knowing the procedure, I unknowingly stood in front of a station. After about 10 minutes, someone finally told me I needed to wait in line. I accepted my mistake and got in the queue. Eventually, it was my turn and someone asked what I needed. I told them I wanted yogurt, and they directed me to the next station. I stood there for around 15 minutes, but no one acknowledged me or asked for my order. Meanwhile, customers who arrived after me were getting served before me. It felt chaotic and unfair. What bothered me most was that it seemed like they were giving priority to certain customers — especially Mexican customers — while others, like me, were being ignored. That made me feel uncomfortable and disrespected. I spent nearly 40 minutes there, and it was a frustrating and disheartening experience overall. This kind of service and inconsistency needs serious attention. Every customer deserves equal and respectful treatment, regardless of background.

So many flavors of frozen yogurt and ice cream. I bought the sour sap or guanabana frozen yogurt. It was as if I was eating the fruit. Although frozen the fruit maintained much of it's taste and texture. I truly appreciated that. There are smoothies there as well. You can choose from a variety of topping as well. Friendly customer service there is a big plus. Go there and live in your sweet tooth's dream.

Wife and daughters went after the reopening, staff wasn't exactly sure of the menu. Told them one thing then was given something totally different. When they let them know that's not what they wanted, they were told that it was already made. So they gave her a Ramen soup in a large cup , soup tasted just like styrofoam. Unfortunately they use their hands alot with no gloves and cross contaminate. I wanted to support this business cause I'm in the neighborhood, but probably not coming back!
