The ice cream is fantastic! Diamond in the rough nestled in the heart of Midlothian. All kinds of flavors, excellent service, and quick turnaround. The Mexican twist to their ice cream is indescribable, you will have to come try for yourself. I recommend the strawberry and yogurt and the key lime pie.

Jared S.

Google
Okay the ice cream here is amazing. The presentation of the different flavors is beautiful to look at. The flavor choices range from traditional to mexican flavor to surprises. The only thing this place needs to perhaps eliminate is the inclusion of other items from other food groups. They have nachos, weird other items as well... but I have heard their Mexican street corn is good. But again please do go and try their ice cream it will not disappoint!!

Google
The ice cream is so delicious and the staff are super nice! My toddler had a great time, definitely will come back!

Google
This was my first time at Hispanic Icecream store and I can say that I will be going back. The only downside was the language barrier, but it will NOT keep me from going back. She did not tell me a price of anything and there are no prices displayed. I tried the caramel chocolate flan. It wasn't that good due to the bottom chocolate part. The texture was a little old and not good. However, the regular flan part with the caramel was very delicious!!!! I wish the whole thing was just that. She did allow me to sample the BlackBerry Cheesecake icecream......and shall I say......I'm definitely going back for that. The taste and look of their icecream is so much better than our American made icecream with so much stuff in it. PLEASE don't keep passing by this place, stop and enjoy!

Brian R.

Google
There is a wide variety, and I tried the vanilla (very basic anns yellow in color) but the ice cream just didn't taste good. I thought it would be better based on the line inside. I wouldn't return to try anything else.

Jamison W.

Google
I haven't found better ice cream in Midlothian. There are so many good flavors here. I like that it's real, old fashioned ice cream!

Anayeli D.

Google
Today, my daughter and I visited this ice cream store. I was really looking forward to treating ourselves to some delicious ice cream. I ordered two ice creams and paid for them. However, when the lady who took my order came back with the ice cream, it was not what I had ordered. She handed me one cone and one cone with a double scoop, which was not what I had requested. I politely informed her that this was not what I had ordered, but she insisted that it was. I tried to reason with her, pointing out that it didn't make sense for me to order one cone and one double scoop when I clearly wanted two separate ice cream. After some back and forth, she finally agreed to remake the order. However, as I watched her prepare the new ice creams, I was shocked to see her simply take the top scoop from the double scoop cone and place it on the second cone, before serving it back to me. I was extremely disappointed by this experience. I even took a picture of the ice cream to document what had happened. This was, without a doubt, the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I would not recommend anyone to visit this location based on my experience.

Google
We got the corn-in-a-cup and the Ferrero Rocher ice cream. Both were delicious! We will be ordering from here again. Stop by and check this place out, if you’re ever in the area. 10/10.

Yelp
I got this cute little mangonada cup from Emart in the freezer section next to the check out. I was so excited to see it. Got home. Cracked it open. Made it halfway through and found this weird plastic thing stuck down in it. Totally bummed me out. Do better.

Yelp
Ok.. growing up in soCal in the 80's there's nothing better than Mexican Paletas especially the authentic flavors tamarind, mango, lime etc. Now living in The DMV i got a hold of a descent Paletas. THE mindblower?? $3.00 for a street cicle? I bought these for .17 cents each whole sale in LA selling them at county fairs in cali. As good as they were i guarantee I won't be buying these again for $3.00 freaking dollars each bar!!! Frickin outshine mango Tajín Is $4.99 a box 6 count at giant, Harris teeter, target etc. Seriously retiring on street popsicle??

Yelp
Ummm I'd like to apologize in advance, but this is just my opinion; I ordered the mango and strawberry ice cream and I'm not impressed at all. Idk if it's just a cultural thing, but this is not the type of ice cream I'm used to. The mango tasted like it was blended then froze it without adding any cream to it. Also, the strawberry was alright, but they could've added more of the fruit to it to add that tangy taste. Maybe their other flavors are good like the coffee, cookies n ,cream, and pistachios. Maybe I just ordered the wrong flavor. They are clean and they understood some English. Not sure if I'm coming back. We all have a definition of what is "good."
google avatar

Indira M.

Yelp
What a wonderful little ice cream shop. Lots of variety and flavors to choose from. The sherbet is quite good. I had mango and lime. They can be a little pricy - depends on what you select. I've been here twice so far and I will be back.

Yelp
Holy crap, I'm eating queso ice cream. I had NO idea this is even a thing but it's strangely amazing. What's better is that below the queso ice cream is a layer of key lime pie. I don't ever want normal ice creams again. I bet you're wondering what queso ice cream tastes like. To me, it kind of tasted like cottage cheese but creamier. I don't know, you'll have to try it. The key lime was very flavorful with not graham crackers per say but almost a softer texture. It was very creamy. My son got cookies and cream. His had hints of cinnamon and maybe nutmeg? It was a very layered flavor and unlike anything I've had before. There were so many flavors, it was hard to choose one (or two!). They had tres leches, gummy bear, mango, all kinds of flavors. Plus they had paletas (popsicles) that looked amazing too. When I get home I'm going to Yelp Mexican ice cream. For real.
google avatar

Meredith D.

Yelp
Perfect ice cream in unused flavors like Soursop, Key lime pie, and tres leches; all of which were amazing. Flavors were fresh and natural. The ice cream was creamy and not overly sweet. No wonder the place was packed at 9:30pm! Don't be intimidated if you don't speak Spanish, it wasn't a problem. Price was reasonable too. Highly recommended.

Gabriel S.

Yelp
Amazing cheese cake ice cream and friendly service! Tons of more options i'm excited to try

Yelp
"GET THAT CORN OUTTA MY FACE!!"-Nacho to Eskeleto in Nacho Libre movie. I simply cannot eat corn on a cob without thinking of that movie scene. Folks, LA MICHOACANA is also the absolute best ice cream in Richmond for many reasons, some which I'll mention. Did you know they make their own? All the wonderful myriad of flavors of ice cream and fro-yo are all homemade. While I couldn't have possibly tasted them all, the ones I've tried are incredible. Their paletas or pops are also delicious. I LOVE the coconut one, and one day live on the edge and try their tres leches or the one with the 2 oreos embedded within. I chose the corn on this day because I recently turned on a co-worker to their ice cream and he raved about the corn or "elote." You DO NOT have to speak Spanish as one reviewer stated with 1-star. Had they been patient, used google translate, made an effort, (as one oftentimes has to when travelling abroad), they would have been well rewarded. Go here for the amazing ice cream, paletas, and venture in to the savory land of their delicious street elote.

Yelp
i'm only visiting Virginia and i was craving something spicy (as always) but i was also craving some fresh fruit.... i came across this place that my girlfriend told me about and im glad she brought me here. she got some ice cream and i got this spicy fruit drink it was amazing !
google avatar

Jose M.

Yelp
Fantastic family ice cream shop. The service is really attentive, the ice cream is great, and the popsicles are extraordinarily unique and delicious. I'm so glad I don't live in Richmond or I'd be here again and again. One of my favorite ice cream and paleta places ever.

Jennifer V.

Yelp
super yum, nice atmosphere. would recommend to anyone looking for authentic desserts:)
google avatar

Thuy V.

Yelp
A little out there but really good! Soo many flavors that are a bit different. The service is friendly and ready to let you try flavors and suggest flavors. The scoops are generous. I got pine nut flavor (with a lot of pine nuts) and the Tiger Tail. One flavor I didn't care for was the pistachio, and just had the sample so no harm done. The place is in a strip mall and pretty plain inside. They also sell ice pops of the different flavors and some sort of drinks. If the place is out of the way I suggest doubling up and going to either Chicken Fiesta the street over, Korean Garden, or Dixie Chicken (8 minutes away). They might be cash only.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the ultimate place to go for dessert if you're looking for something new, delicious, and interesting. I'm so tired of ColdStone and the rest. The staff here are very nice. Their flavors are absolutely impressive. Parking is ample no matter what time of day or night. Hope to see them do very well in the future.

Stephanie D.

Yelp
What a hidden gem! The absolute BEST ice cream in RVA... Blows Brewster's out of the water (side note it doesn't melt all over you before you eat it) fresh ingredients and way too many flavors to even count. The coconut was out of this world. All fresh real ingredients and the most reasonable prices ever. Don't let the location deter you (plaza is run down) it is our new go to place!
google avatar

Tiffany N.

Yelp
I love this place. I was craving ice cream one day and stumbled upon this place hidden away in a small shopping area. I'd never had mexican ice cream until this place and I am pleasantly surprised. The fruit pops are what I highly recommend. They're thick and creamy, with a touch of whatever flavor you choose. I love fruits so I had to get the "fruit and yogurt" one and it was so good. I loved the pop of kiwi in the middle of the frozen yogurt. My favorite has to be the strawberries and cream. The cream kind of taste the same as the yogurt in the fruit and yogurt one but I just love the occasional frozen strawberry you get in your mouth. The best part is the price. They're about $2-$2.50 for each and it's definitely worth it! I recommend this place and I will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Jess S.

Yelp
Sweet frozen treats that include fresh fruit, REAL chocolate (none of that chalky stuff!), and surprising flavor combinations! I had a chocolate covered coconut cream pop. Please note that every ingredient used in this item was REAL. No fake chocolate, real cream, and tons of shredded coconut. It was so darn good! My family also enjoyed a strawberries and cream pop and a fruit medley. Both were lovely and chock full of fruit. Was very impressed and look forward to trying the ice creams and whatever it is they use the hot sauce for! I think they offer some hot foods as well. If it's as good as the pops, it'll be well worth the trip to the South Side.

Yelp
Hole in the wall spot in a strip mall with some of the best ice cream in Richmond. Decent prices and tons of unique flavors; everything I've had so far has been great.
google avatar

Allison E.

Yelp
This place has amazing ice cream 'popsicles' with incredible flavors, like coffee, kiwi, egg nog, strawberrry cream, egg nog with fresh fruit, ETC. And they are beautiful to look at, as well. I highly rec getting many of these for a party -- they are so beautiful and tasty, your guests will be impressed, and will have to know where you got them. I go get some every time I'm in Richmond.
google avatar

Rob P.

Yelp
Not cash only. They take credit. This is really the best value and best ice cream in town. My kids and I found this by accident today and absolutely loved it. Service was nice and our only regret was not trying more flavors! Try the pine nut ice cream!
google avatar

Carrie P.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in Richmond. Hands down the BEST ice cream I've ever had. Muchas gracias. Te aprecio
google avatar

Melva F.

Yelp
Delicious Mexican ice cream! If you haven't tried it then you're missing out! The only issue I have with it is that I think it can be a little pricey. Flavor wise it's delicious!
google avatar

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Love it ! So many different unique flavors and fresh ice cream. There are other sweets available as well like tres leches. They have fruit with chile on it. Elote loco. Very authentic and staff was friendly. I got coconut pineapple ice cream. Yogurt with strawberry.
google avatar

Danielle G.

Yelp
Staying in Richmond for a few days. I thought I'd look up a cool ice cream place and wow did we discover a gem! I can honestly say this is the best ice cream I have ever had. Totally handmade, creative and just delightful!!! We plan on going back everyday we're here! Key lime pie, coconut and pineapple. Just amazing! Recommend this 100%!!!
google avatar

Alexandra T.

Yelp
Delicious paletas ! Customer service was a bit meh the first time I went but it didn't stop me from returning lol. It was lovely.
google avatar

Yelp
The ice cream was pretty good - not too sweet and good texture. My friends and I went in and bought a single scoop on a cone each trying vanilla, strawberries and cream and dulce de leche. I'm reserve one star for bad service, one star for portion and one star for expensive price. The cashier served customers who came in AFTER us and it annoyed the heck out of me. We were ready to order but he took other customers who walked in after us. Frankly I was about to start speaking Spanish sonI could get better service. For one skimpy scoop, one cone came out to almost $4. I felt ripped off. It was ridiculous because the portion was less than one of those drumstick ice creams you can buy from the grocery store. I won't be coming back and will eat hagaan dazs over this.
google avatar

Tawheed H.

Yelp
So I have this condition called a sweet tooth and this place satisfies that condition. The ice cream here is very gelato like, very creamy. The portions are huge and the price is cheap. They also have more than 31 flavors, some odd ones that I'll try the next time around but this time I got good ole butter pecan. The butter pecan was rich n buttery and full of pecans. While enjoying my treat I noticed some hot sauce near the register and asked the cashier what it was used for as I didn't see anything but desserts on the menu, she pointed at a large tub of chicharones. The next time I'm coming here I gotta get some of those pork rinds and top it off with some dreamy ice cream. Forget that this shopping center looks sketchy n get you some ice cream.
google avatar

Sonia H.

Yelp
I have passed this place endless times and it's never peaked my interest until yesterday. The location itself is just a store front in a shopping center. It's very modest and no bells and whistles....just amazing ice cream. I ordered the pistachio ice cream which was rich, loaded with pistachios, creamy and really the best pistachio ice cream I've ever had. My little one ordered Oreo ice cream and the vanilla was infused with cinnamon & vanilla. Just so DELISH. It was inexpensive & the portions were generous. I can't wait to go back this summer! Moral of the story: don't judge an ice cream place by it's cover!
google avatar

James L.

Yelp
This place kicks ass. I love to eat some ice cream, and they have a million flavors. I have a thing for the key lime pie, and I have to get it almost every time. It has bits of graham cracker crust in it that adds that pleasant texture and bite to your cone. If you like a bunch of weird flavors, they have those too. I have a hard time trying the spicy ones, but it's nice to have friends get those, so you can taste theirs just get the key lime pie flavor. It sucks that it's out on Midlothian, but the trip is worth it. The prices are cheap and the shop is...cute (I hate using that word). So get a treat, take a seat, watch some telemundo and get out of the heat.
google avatar

Amber V.

Yelp
I first discovered La Michocacana in the dead of winter but that did not take away the amazing experience of eating this ice cream. The texture is somewhere between traditional american ice cream and gelato. It is slightly chewy, not overly sweet, and perfectly flavored. Fear not if you are less than familiar with traditional latin american flavors as you will be offered samples from the moment you walk up to the counter until you make your decision. I favor the cherries and cream (sweet cream ice cream with maraschino cherries) and my fiance fancies the chocolate chip (intensely butter flavored ice cream with dark chocolate flakes). We've tried many other flavors as well and have yet to come across one that disappoints. If you are not the ice cream fanatic that I am their paletas are just as fantastic. Both milk and water based paletas are available. Most are loaded with fresh fruit so just know ahead of time that you will never again be able to enjoy the popcicles from the grocery store. Everything La Michoacana offers is cravable and I wholeheartedly beleive it is the best ice cream in Richmond. If the taste isn't enough to bring you back -- and please see a doctor... your tastebuds are broken-- the prices will.
google avatar

Tracy S.

Yelp
This is worth the trip. Located in a nondescript, somewhat run down strip mall, the ice cream is a-mazing. My favorite is the blackberries and cheese. The servings are HUGE, my daughter and I get a small and 2 cups total are only $4.51 with tax. Wide variety of flavors like rice, tequila, coconut, strawberry as well as kid pleasing flavors like chocolate chip and gummy bear. Besides ice cream they offer pops (called paletas) in dairy and non-dairy flavors. There are a few tables inside. It's cash only. Service is good, employees are very friendly. Make a trip and hit up my other faves, Chicken Fiesta and La Sobrasita pretty much right next door.
google avatar

Suz G.

Yelp
I have been hesitant to write a review, because I hate it when hole in the wall places blow up and stop being as good/raise their prices, and if that happens here, I will cry. However, I've kinda been telling everyone I meet--even strangers at bars-- about how this is pretty much the best place ever. First off, double scoop, in a waffle cone, for 3.25$. Not a typo. Second off, real good. Real real real good. Also, fun&adventurous flavors and generous with the samples and so so so good.
google avatar

Dee B.

Yelp
Ice cream is one of my favorite desserts.La Michoacana Ice Cream is a hidden gem for ice cream lovers. The ice cream is really flavorful and creamy.La Michoacana Ice Cream has alot of unique flavors to offer customers like tequila, rice, and butter.I know the butter flavor sounds weird but its actually delicious. I choose the butter & strawberry, caramel, and pistachio flavors. I was impressed with the flavoring and smooth texture of the ice cream.La Michoacana has some of the best ice cream I've eaten Richmond. The staff scoops the ice cream very generous.La Michoacana Ice Cream has a family atmosphere. The service was excellent. La Michoacana has a small seating area. Yelp
I can't believe this place really exists and its not a dream. INCREDIBLE. Este lugar es un sueño hecho realidad. Los sabores que tienen, vas a flipar! El helado es muy muy rico y hay como 20+ sabores de helado, en serio.

Tu N.

Yelp
Definitely worth it! A ton of different flavors sure to satisfy all tastes! The ice cream is so smooth and flavorful. Did I mention that it is very inexpensive? I had the coffee and the angel kiss ice cream. Both were very good and I was allowed to sample the angel kiss ice cream before ordering it. I also saw that the offered tamales. I will have to ask next time if they offer any other types of food as all the tables had a container of forks and a huge bottle of hot sauce on them. Highly recommended! I can't wait to come back and try their other flavors!
google avatar

Kristen H.

Yelp
This one is a 3.5 for me. The ice cream is excellent, except for the mamey. Mamey is my favorite flavor, some of you might know it is sapote, it's somewhat akin to papaya, but without the vomit-like aftertaste and scent, ha! However, the mamey here is icy, and I couldn't get with it. Ice cream must be smooooth and creamy. I actually didn't go back for a whole year because of my first try being less than satisfactory with that mamey. After one of my students convinced me, I went back. This time, I tried the butter and strawberry. It was SoO deliciously creamy and flavorful! The price was very reasonable, about $3 for two scoops (why I got two is beyond me...I don't even eat two at home.) I took a peak at that mamey, and it was still not looking creamy to me. Everything else looked great. My ice cream was fresh, creamy, and everything ice cream should be, but not overly sweet. There was a great variety of ice cream flavors and homemade pops. There was even a variety of big sizes to buy for home. Why 3.5 stars? SANITATION! I was not seeing gloves, I was, however, seeing cruddy finger nails. That does not make me too happy. It makes me hesitant.
google avatar

Mike K.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream! Made in house with lots of different styles to pick from. Pro tip: go with the Rum Raisin.
google avatar

Kasey H.

Yelp
This place is awesome - and there are so many colors! Lots of really inventive flavors, like mango with ginger, but also a lot of traditional flavors for the less adventurous. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, as well - I have a nut allergy, and after asking if a flavor had nuts in it, the girl behind the counter gave me samples of at least 10 flavors that were nut free. I'm excited to go back and try one of their popsicles or have a glass of agua fresca.
google avatar

Michela W.

Yelp
This place has the best popsicles around! Some of the flavors are a unusual, but every one I have tasted I have really enjoyed. I have tried the rice pudding, strawberries and cream, mango with chili and the tres leches. All winners. They also have interesting and delicious looking ice cream, but I never make it past the popsicles.
google avatar

William C.

Yelp
Ice cream was great, we had the Mango con chile, coco, and Khalua. Visiting from SF and was not disappointed. We will come back before we leave.

Lily T.

Yelp
This place has the BEST mangonada's, it usually comes with mango ice cream on top but I got it without. The staff is super nice too!!

Kelly A.

Yelp
Don't go here unless you speak Spanish. The lady skipped us over because she didn't know English and told us one minute. The only English speaking person was working the cashier and we had to wait 10 minutes be served. I will never go here again.

Cristian S.

Yelp
nastyyyy asss food do not come here i came today and we got attitude worse michoacán in virginia
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
Hands down the BEST ice cream in Richmond. Flavorful, creamy and delicious. They have all the classics like Chocolate, Strawberry and Vanilla to enjoy. And if your looking for something new give Mamey,Guanabana,Tiger Tail and Angel Kiss a try. They serve Aguas Frescas,Elote and Chicharron as well if your need your snack fix. No matter what your taste there's something for everyone here.
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
Tequila ice cream! Yep, it's true...these guys have it. They also have a lot of other flavors that are so unique compared to the other ice cream shops. It's great quality too. I don't know the process that goes into making ice cream for commercial places but this shop makes a nice and creamy ice cream that has a bite to it -- I think that's a sign of a higher cream content than air but don't hold me to it. They're in a strip mall so you do need to look for them but they are well-priced and seem to keep long hours. Great place to stop for a break from the heat!
google avatar

Lizbeth D.

Yelp
Horrible customer service, I felt like my boyfriend was racially profiled. The ice cream was good but I will probably never return.

Ashley C.

Yelp
Very rude customer service- the short man was very rude. We decided not to purchase something and under his breath said "should've told me that in the first place" with an annoyed attitude. Did not understand what a mangonada was and refused to listen to us when explaining what we wanted. Rolled his eyes a lot- will not be coming back. Such a shame he's allowed to work with that attitude of his.
google avatar

Tee L.

Yelp
In RVA for work and stumbled upon this little place. Had no idea what to get, but after asking what this and that was I ended up ordering a scoop of lime and a scoop of mango. Oh my goodness were the good! Since I'll be around the area occasionally for work, I'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Cecilia M.

Yelp
Amazing Popsicles!! Taste just like abuela's fruit milk shakes! Very fresh and tasty! Loved it!
google avatar

Tony H.

Yelp
Deeee-lish! The flavors are terrific. Really great! They offer a large selection of ice cream. I'd also add, unusual! The sherbet ice cream is wonderful. The gelato is simply a treat. I have ordered the....."the Pineapple Piña Colada" ( w/ coconut ) each time but I've tasted a few others, amazing, in this case, quantity equals quality, try this new little gem. It's in the Rt. 60 shopping strip, just past Chicken Fiesta. I almost gave this a five!
