A family‑run paletería and kitchen where tacos meet mangonadas, elote en vaso, and house‑made paletas. A local go‑to for aguas frescas and casual Mexican fare.

Some of the best fish tacos in town, and great ice cream!!! Perfect local place for lunch. UPDATE- Also tried their food truck down town, just as excellent trying their burrito, elites in a cup, and waffle bowls.

If i could no stars i would. I called ahead of time and was given a 15 minute wait. I arrive and they tell me 15 more minutes which actually turned out to be a half hour! Spent 65$ at this place and not one item i bought was edible. Nothing had any flavor, portions are VERY small for the price, and my bfs food was literally SWIMMING in grease. The first red flag was that i order so much food, but when we walked in the restaurant you couldnt even smell any food in the air . Another red flag was as im waiting for them to make my food i hear a microwave beep SEVERAL times, makes me wonder if all my food was microwaved. Just dissapointed and upset that i spent so much money on literal TRASH.

Mangonada(Mango+ mango slush+ spicy red pepper) was total $6.9 include tax. It was my first Mangonada in my life so I cannot say it was good or bad.. The atmosphere of the restaurant made me feel like I’m in Mexico.

Incredible Birria Beef! The Coconut and Pine Nut Ice Cream is superb, as well. I will be back!

Google
Wonderful centrally-located stop for Mexican ice cream and other food items. The mangonadas and popsicles are worth the trip alone!

Yelp
A nice change of pace from your everyday ice cream. Very fresh and everything was super clean. The customer service was very welcoming and friendly. I'll most certainly be back.

Yelp
We heard a lot of hype about this one, but weren't terribly impressed by the food or ice cream. Staff was nice and courteous.

Yelp
I came here for my birthday on April 2021 and the lady had a disgusting attitude and face towards us we weren't sure why.. she didn't speak English so the younger girl took our order and as she was taking our drink order the lady kept looking back at us giving us dirty looks. Anyways we decided to leave because of it but I wish I would've confronted her because it felt like she was discriminating because my husband and friend are white I only say because with other customers she was smiling and attentive. NEVER BEEN BACK SINCE ANS NEVER WILL.

Yelp
Really old waffle cones, tasted funny and really old. Not overly friendly up in here for sure. Ice cream isn't very dense and watered down and melts as soon as you get it. Funny flavored too! the coconut...Yikes. Friend kept asking for samples to taste of the ice cream, the lady here kept taking his little spoons as he handed them back and she tossed them on the floor in an angry fashion. It was kind of weird. The waffle cones tasted older than the hills I end up throwing mine out the window. Tasted really funny. Not real friendly at all. Not a smile in the place, looked bitter and not real happy with our business.

Yelp
OMG IM IN LOVE!! This place is so adorable inside. I love that they homemade all their sweet treats with tons of options to satisfy your sweet tooth. They have daily lunch board items that is visual upon walking in. They also have a menu and as bonus it is in Spanish and English limited to 9 tables for in dinning options but it wasn't empty when we dined at 2 pm. They had tacos de lengua on the day we came. OMG OMG, the tongue was prepared perfectly. Tender, juicy and flavorful. It was enough to fill the two corn tortillas it came with. Only downfall is that their tortillas are not homemade. Which kinda sucked. But still tasted amazing. I would come here just for these tacos. If you love tongue this is the place to get them. They also had tacos de tripa but the tongue was making my Mouth salivate just thinking of them so I passed on the tripa tacos. I will have to try one next time. We also ordered the shrimp soup and although it was a taste worthy option it wasn't as good as I have had at other places. It was also served with corn tortillas that again were not homemade. Two tamales were ordered as well. One Chicken one beef and both were stellar options. Non spicy but came with a perfectly spicy verde salsa that made my nose water. Which is awesome in a salsa. This is a definite must stop and eat and splurge in some sweet pairings. However we did not stay for sweets. After all here is a Mexican bakery next doo!!

Yelp
There are only a couple things I have to complain about. Most of the menu is A'la Carte. Parking is awful, as there is no real parking on the main street, nor do they have a parking lot. There are no where near enough tables. Having said that, all is forgiven with the food. THE FOOD THOUGH -- obviously authentic, made-from-scratch, and tastes unlike any Mexican food I've ever had before! Definitely save room for the weird ice cream flavors afterward. You cannot dream of having a plate here without ordering a Jarisco (popular fruit flavored soda) to wash it all down. The tacos, however, were by far the best Fucking tacos I've ever eaten. I'm hoping the majority of you will agree, because if not, then I know NOTHING about tacos. AND THE PRICE is crazy reasonable. It was definitely a good time for our girl's lunch out. In summary, the overall feel of this place is of las concinas de abuelitas (some grandma's kitchen.) Yo quiero La Michoacana ahora! (I want La Michoacana now!)

Yelp
This review is based on three visits in 2017. We give La Michoacana 4.5 stars based on food quality, quick service, and fair prices/terrific value. The half star is because parking is iffy and the decor inside is a little faded. But parking and decor don't affect the food, which is delicious! Heads-up for first time visitors: this is not a "free chips and salsa" kind of Mexican restaurant. The chips and salsa are a side here...and they are TOTALLY WORTH paying a couple of dollars, because these are not mass produced anonymous chips out of a bag. They're crunchy, freshly fried tortillas, and they're a great way to get your appetite warmed up for tacos, tamales, and more. We love the steak tacos, and pork tamales. Two can eat, tip, and leave very happily full for around $20.

Yelp
First the taco chips were fried in oil that should have been changed. The salsa lacked flavor. There was a small portion of refried beans. The beef tacos had beef a little cilantro and a little bits of onion and nothing else. We won't be going back.

Yelp
Definitely won't ever recommend to anyone. The lady's that were there all had bad attitudes, I ordered a mangonada and there was a bug in there! So disgusting.

Yelp
We just ate here last night and were very impressed with the food. We had a pork tamale, chicken tamale, asada tacos, asada dinner, pastor taco and horchata drink, as well as sampled a pecan nut water. Everything was perfect. The portions are generous for the price, the food tasted fresh and authentic. The tamales were some of the best tamales I have ever had, and I have eaten them in Miami, FL. I cannot wait to go back and try their homemade ice cream. I'm knocking off a star for atmosphere - when we first pulled up, even though the sign said open, the storefront looked very dark as if it were closed. It's colorful inside, but could use a sprucing up. We will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food. Both of my tortas were fantastic. The steak was so flavorful. I will say this they called it steak but it was ground beef. That being said I will be back to try some of there other dishes including the Cuban Torta which looked very interesting. Especially since the most expensive thing on the menu is $8. Tortas were $6 and worth it

Yelp
Best authentic tacos in town. Chorizo is my go to, but the tongue and chicken tacos are equally delicious. Save room for horchata and ice cream!

Yelp
This place is located right next to the Indiana Mexican Bakery on Wells St. What's truly noteworthy is the homemade ice cream and the Mexican fruit drinks called "licuados" on the menu. I had the marinated pork tacos which were great. My wife and daughter had quesadillas and my son had a cuban sandwich. Everyone was pleased. Our waitress had difficulty understanding English, but that was not a huge problem. Prices were very reasonable and there's even a breakfast menu. Would definitely go back. Would have taken some photos had I known this place wasn't yet listed on Yelp.

Yelp
Had drove past many times. The tacos were amazing. The rice and beans were awesome. I highly recommend this place. It reminds me of food in Texas

Yelp
Great hole in the wall style place, with wonderful homemade ice cream, great Mexican food, and very authentic Mexican food. Overall I'm very pleased and will definitely be returning to this great establishment!

Yelp
Yelp kind of let me down on this one. I don't know if they had an off day or what, but the food was not very good. The asada tacos just ok, but the rice was bland and the beans were runny and pretty off-putting. Maybe their sweet treats are where they shine (I did not try any), but I really wouldn't recommend their Mexican-fare.

Yelp
Excellent tortas and Mexican style ice cream! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. And also uummmmmmmmmmmm

Gabriela M.

Yelp
The corn in a cup was terrible. It was from a can, had no cheese and was swimming in can water and the lady that helped me was rude. Will NOT be going back!!

Yelp
We have eaten here several times and love the food and ice cream! It's just great door and a wonderful spot to sit and watch the traffic go by.

Yelp
Fantastic, no idea why it took me so long to review. The staff is wonderful. They make me want to go more often. Their tacos, with sauce, and limes are perfect. Beans and rice are yummy and helped us get through my wife's third pregnancy. The drinks are at a whole other level. The horchata and fruits drinks are true standouts. The ice cream is homemade and puts all others to shame. Butter and strawberries, put me in. Overall a wonderful place. Do not miss it!

Barbara Z.

Yelp
It is wonderful to find quality food with tasty sweet treats and great service right at home! What a terrific find! Homemade ice cream and drinks. Tried the butter strawberry, strawberry, tequila cherry and pistachio raisin ice cream. All very good. Wide selection of flavored Popsicles. Yum!

Jo S.

Yelp
La Michuacana makes all their popsicles and ce-cream from scratch, and they make all other ice-cream seem subpar. Where else can you get strawberry ice creme that taste like real strawberries? Also the popsicles are amazing, they have all fresh fruit and any milk based popsicle can be dipped in chocolate and covered in your choice of topping! I honestly can't eat anyone else's ice-cream because it pales in comparison. If your adventurous you will try a mango with chile, as there is no greater sweet and sour combination on earth. But the combination lime and mango ice-cream is straight from heaven. The mexican food is pretty good, the menudo (soup) and chorizo torta (mexican sausage sandwich) are pretty flavorful, better than almost any other in town. They also have a mexican hot chocolate that will warm any cold winter day.

Sam A.

Yelp
Homemade ice cream is great! Not so great milkshakes. Too much milk is added and creates a runny consistency. But the people are really nice!
