New York Food Court in Flushing Is One of the City’s Best Food Halls - Eater NY

"An honorable mention is in order for La Mira Gelateria, which opened next door to the food court last fall but has a window inside the food court for ordering wheel pies, waffles, and other desserts. The main event here seems to be the scoops of gelato that are named after emotional springtime creatures. Happy bear, chirpy chick, little piggy, and lonely panda are all part of the family, but this time and last I took home behaved bunny, who had stale marshmallows for ears and a sphere of peach oolong gelato for a body. It tasted a lot like strawberry ice cream. — LF" - Luke Fortney

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Really good place. Didn't try the Gelato, but we tried the wheel pancakes. Those were delicious and they had a selection of fillings. Staff was friendly and offered recommendations. Recommend to both locals and travelers. Recommended: wheel pancakes. Braised pork and radish filling.

Google
We made sure to stop by for some cute ice cream scoops before heading home. Great selection of flavors like lychee rose, peach oolong tea, passion fruit lime, and white chocolate peaflower. All were delish and had creamy texture. Friendly service. Tastes tests available.

Google
The ice cream is very delicious and cute. The taste is very fresh. They will let you try any flavors before you buy it. They have many flavors to choose. Longan Rose and Watermelon is best. They have some flavors without dairy. Can't wait to come again.

Google
The first time there are a lot of ice cream I would like to order! They have so many special ice cream flavors that meet Chinese taste. I ordered Taro, but I also would like to order passion fruit and peach oolong! They are also very nice and friendly. It was such a pleasant experience. They told us they made the taro ice cream with real taro which I could tell from tasting it, and not too sweet, just right! Super delicious! We ordered two small cup, total is about $12.

Google
Cute store. The peach oolong is delicious. The uji matcha and chocolate are both good. Staff are nice and friendly. You can sit in the food court next door to eat your gelato.

Google
Absolutely to die for. Their gelato is just so good!!!! The peach is so amazing it’s like nothing I have ever tasted before. The workers are some of the nicest people in New York City and surrounding areas!!! They were so good at giving out samples and recommending flavors. It’s a must do in Flushing and I hope they open more stores around the states it would be AMAZING. I got the chicken with a scoop of peach and a scoop of taro!!! Both AMAZING

Google
This place is great!!! Highly recommend! The staff are friendly, they offer free samples of the flavors without us even asking, and look how adorable the character gelatos are!!! My fave flavor is the purple yam and taro one. And best of all allergy friendly and they even let me see the ingredients list for the decorative eyes to make sure it was safe for my son.

Google
Nice Gelato Store! Love Gelato~love Lychee Rose and Peach Oolong. I want to give service 10 stars. They will give to try before you buy it. It wont force you to buy it. See you next time,La Mira!

Yelp
Located by the NY Food Court, I saw people walking by with the cutest animal themed scoops of gelato. Bit on the pricier side at $9.50 per order for the gelato character option (bear/pig/panda). Regular 1 scoop is $5.75. I decided to try the lychee and rose flavor. I'm usually such a fan of ice cream but was disappointed with what I received. I thought the texture was a bit odd, and the flavor was very artificial.

Yelp
The cutest gelato's ever is at La Mira in NYC! Animal Themed Gelato's are the go to here and is made with natural ingredients to create that refreshing, sweet, delicious treat! So many unique flavors to choose from such as Uji Matcha, Strawberry, Banana Pudding, & White Rabbit which is my personal favorite! It tastes just like the candy I ate everyday during my childhood
google avatar

Hank C.

Yelp
They have little wheel cakes and gelato. They can make fancy animals in ice cream for $9 which is instagrammable, service is friendly while you take the photos. They make wheel cakes by splitting the halves and putting it together with various toppings on the inside. You have to eat it quick because some of the ingredients definitely hardened really fast like the mochi which was unfortunate, didn't realize that and it ended up tough. If you have a nut allergy be careful because some of the nut gelatos are really close to the other gelatos.

Yelp
I highly recommend the Longan Rose gelato! Sooo creamy and decadent. I have never had a flavor like this before. Better than lychee!! I would definitely come back for this! I really enjoyed the Blood Orange Jasmine Tea flavor too. Very refreshing and another unique option to try. A big highlight is their happy hour deal! Buy one get one free before 4 PM on the weekdays! This does not count for the character gelato though :( KEEP IN MIND: $10 minimum for credit card purchases.

Yelp
Super cute creamy gelato with unique flavors. I had their longan flavor decorated into a cute duck cone. I loved it- wasn't too sweet and had small pieces of longan fruit inside. Service was friendly and they offered samples for any flavor you're curious about. They also sell wheel pies that smelled really good, I would wanna try some next time I'm back.

Yelp
I freely admit it; I'm a sucker for some cute packaging and the animal gelato at La Mira just called to me. For $9.50, you can have two scoops of gelato (in up to 2 flavors!) that is shaped in your choice of six different animals. The staff was really sweet and let us try so many flavors. I ended up going with the peach oolong, which was heavy on the tea flavor so I sadly did not get any peach notes. The animal gelato was decorated with chocolate pearl eyes and little candy and marshmallow parts. Cute, but honestly does nothing to enhance the taste. The gelato itself is quite smooth and creamy. I really enjoyed the texture overall and there were no icy bits at all. I was told that they rotate flavors occasionally so I would love to return and see what is new. La Mira also sells wheelcakes too, both savory and sweet ones for those not interested in gelato.

Yelp
Got one scoop of peach oolong and was told it was their most popular flavor. It's really good! They let you sample the flavors and the other flavors were pretty good too, would try them next time. They said that they change up the flavors every now and then so very cool that they'll have different flavors next time I go!

Yelp
I came here exclusively to try the cute animal shaped gelato and was not disappointed. The shop has a lot of cool flavors that you wouldn't easily find at another ice cream shop. The shop also sells wheel cakes which I didn't try this time around but I might do so if I stop by next time! The animal shaped gelato was a bit expensive at a little above $10 but given that they took a lot of care into assembling it aesthetically I thought it wasn't too bad. Also, the unique flavors of the ice cream made up for the price! I got the bunny shaped gelato with the flavors passion fruit lime and uji matcha. They let you choose 2 different flavors. I really liked the passion fruit lime. There were even specks of green - I believe it was small lime peels in the ice cream! It tasted super authentic and not artificial at all. The workers were also super kind and offered to let us taste test as many flavors as we needed. I appreciated that as their flavors were super unique and I wanted to test them out first. 11/10 for the service!!
google avatar

Yelp
SUPER CUTE. We had ice cream in the shapes of pig & chicken. There are SO many other options to choose from (bear, rabbit, etc). You can make it using ANY ice cream flavor btw (but yeah, it probably makes sense to use flavors that matches the colors). TIP: bring cash! You can do card, but you'd have to round up from $9 to $10 to counteract the service fees (which I didn't mind doing since it's a small business).

Yelp
The staff was so welcoming and friendly! I was super indecisive on which flavors to get and the guy proactively offered me samples on whatever I was eyeing. He also explained that the animal faces could be done with whichever one we liked. Ended up getting peach oolong+dragonfruit sorbet with a chick design while my friend got passion fruit lime+uji matcha with a bunny design. They were both so adorable and tasted just as yummy! I believe the gelato is made in-house- the flavors were unique from other gelatos I've had, and you could taste the real fruit bits in it. The price is a bit steep at $9.50 pre-tax for two scoops, but it felt worth it to try at least once, with a result that's almost too cute to devour. The shop also sells wheel cakes at the front with a variety of fillings from savory to sweet.

Yelp
Really great stop to make especially in the summertime. There was a group of four of us and the guy working there was so kind in describing the flavors to us and providing samples. He was extremely patient with us because we did not know what to choose-- from the flavors to the desired decorated animals. He was extremely thorough and thoughtful in making the animals and asked us what flavor/color we wanted on the top because he knew we wanted to take a gelato group picture! We highly recommend the hazelnut, longan rose, and blood orange and jasmine flavors :)

Yelp
As an ice cream lover, I was really excited to hear that a new ice cream place opened up in Flushing, much less a gelato spot. It's located on the street leading up to the Skyview Mall. The outside is a bright yellow that's easy to spot. Unfortunately, just from tasting the samples alone I could tell it wasn't to my liking. A friend also had a few samples and came to the same conclusion and we left without purchasing anything. As someone who enjoys most ice creams, I was pretty shocked myself that I had to leave without buying anything. Firstly, I think the quality is closer to regular ice cream than gelato and it also didn't look like gelato you'd normally see in a specialty shop. While I commend them for having an interesting selection of flavors & bringing in more Asian flavors, they were not to my taste (although if you enjoy fruity flavors, it may be more for you). Not all the flavors were available at the time I went, a weekend afternoon. The flavors that I tried also had a kind of fake sweetness to it, like an artificial sweetener was used. From what I can remember, I might have tried the matcha and purple yam/taro flavor before giving up on purchasing. I had a hard time justifying paying for something I didn't enjoy, which was why I left. On the other hand, my boyfriend and a different friend both got the peach oolong ice cream and thought it was ok. I would be willing to give La Mira Gelateria another try some day but I'm not sure if I would pay for what I sampled. I currently would not recommend this ice cream place.

Yelp
I was passing by and craving some gelato, so we decided to stop in at La Mira Gelateria. There are many cool flavors, such as butterfly blue pea white chocolate and Dragon fruit sherbet. You can try as many flavors as you want. I tried the purple yam and dragon fruit sherbet and they were so good that I decided to go with those two flavors. The dragon fruit sherbet actually tasted like fresh Dragon fruit and was not too icy or sweet. It was a good consistency and did not melt too fast. The purple yam gelato also tasted like purple yam and I like how it was not too milky. The two flavors balanced each other out and the portion was quite generous. I would be interested to try other flavors in the future and to see what new flavors they come out with. They also sell wheel cakes and macarons. The place itself is small so there is no room to eat but you can eat in the food court that is right next door. The people are pretty nice and willing to let you sample any flavor you want. I'm glad that they opened up in between Main Street and skyview mall, as it makes for a nice "rest area."

Yelp
Longan rose is my new favorite ice cream flavor ever! You can get any ice cream in a wheel cake, like an ice cream sandwich. I also loved the custard and pork floss wheel cake, which has a great mix of sweet and savory flavors. The workers/owners are so nice and proactively helpful. There is a $10 credit card minimum. There is no seating inside but there are benches and tables at the park/housing community across the street.Try this place out - you will not regret it!

Yelp
New gelato spot in flushing!!! I heard about La Mira's grand opening through instagram and their cute character gelatos enticed me to check it out myself. This gelato shop is a small grab-and-go space (no seating) and they have a variety of flavors with an asian twist (lychee & rose, peach & oolong, purple yam & taro, sesame & seaweed)! Their regular cups/cones range from $5.75-$10 but their character gelatos sell for $9.50. I got the hazelnut flavor and the lychee & rose flavor and asked them for the piggy and happy bear characters! (You can also ask them for the sleepy bear and lonely panda characters if you want). I really appreciated the cute presentation and unique flavors! Although a bit pricey, I think it's a good experience and the flavors are delicious so it was well worth it for me! FYI their grand opening deal of BOGO is over but they have another offer going till end of this week 08/19 for buy one, get one 50% off! GOGOGO! I will be back for the peach oolong tea flavor-- got a sample and it was amazing! :)

Yelp
Tiny shop with huge variety of delicious ice cream at reasonable prices. Clean shop, fast service! Definitely worth to try!

Yelp
The cutest gelato shop right on Roosevelt Ave in Flushing. Aside from the most adorable animal shapes the flavors are delicious. Highly recommend the peach ice cream! Staff was so sweet too. Please support your local businesses!

Yelp
Cute little gelato shop that opened in Downtown Flushing located right between New York Food Court and Wave KTV (formerly DIY KTV) on Roosevelt Ave. Unfortunately, the day I came by someone just broke into their store and used their garbage can to steal all the money in the cash register. The thief was caught though! Anyway, all the staff were very friendly. I was looking at the menu outside the ordering window and the lady said I could carefully come in to view all the gelato flavors better. There are definitely some unique flavors! I got to try several of them including the White Chocolate Butterfly Pea Flower, Peach Oolong, White Rabbit Creamy Candy, Passion Fruit and Cheese Lime and Lychee Rose. Gelato tends to be a bit sweet and the same applies here, but if you were looking for a flavor you can't find anywhere else - you definitely need to come here! The white chocolate butterfly pea flower has that beautiful cerulean blue color and is a popular one here, but it's a bit sweet for me! The peach oolong has the artificial peach flavoring that I don't like mixed with a strong tea flavor which was a bit interesting. The white rabbit creamy candy did not taste like the flavor to me - even though I have to admit the actual white rabbit icecream that you can find at 99 ranch supermarket was a bit of a disappointment to me. The passion fruit and cheese lime sort of reminds me of a sour cheesecake. My favorite and safest choice would definitely be the lychee rose. A bit subtle and not too sweet! The have different sizes from S, M, L and a unique cup size if you want the cute animal faces. The faces added a nice crunch to the gelato which I liked. Lastly, they have a loyalty stamp card for when you purchase M or L gelato or if you purchase 2 S. Cute little gelato place! I would like to come back to try the cakes and macarons.

Yelp
My friend walked by La Mira Gelateria the week before and didn't want to order 3 scoops on her own, so we decided to go together. The staff was very inviting when we stood outside to look at the menu and offered us free samples for the ice cream. What makes this place unique is that the gelato flavors are mainly Asian based, and you really do taste the mix of flavors. We decided to order the black sesame & seaweed, lychee & rose, and passion fruit & lime. Out of the 3 my favorite was the black sesame & seaweed because it was just the most interesting combination. The passion fruit & lime had lime zest inside, so it was a little bitter. Would be interested to come back to try their savory items, along with other flavors.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on a hot day. We tried their White Rabbit ice cream. Unfortunately, it was too sweet and didn't taste anything like the actual candy. There's also no indoor or outdoor seating.

Yelp
NEW SPOT ALERT A new dessert place has graced us in flushing. Just a few blocks from the 7 train. La Mira provides us gelato with Asian inspired flavors. I want to just try them all. But luckily they give free samples!! The staff is very friendly and you can tell they're passionate about their product. There were many great flavors but I got myself the peach oolong tea. Flavor was light but tasty and the gelato is proper. The portions are very generous. Some other flavors that were good were taro & yam, matcha, blood orange. And there were so much more that looked great but didn't want to sample them all on visit haha. Wish I took better photos of the gelato but I got too excited. But this place is great. Worth the visit and REVISIT. Go show this place some love!!

Yelp
We came in to check this place out after lunch and we all tried a sample each. I chose lychee & rose. It tasted like vanilla ice cream. I've made ice cream from scratch before and I've tried so many different brands from Whole Foods as well since that's where I get my groceries from. This ice cream tasted a bit basic. This shop is cute but the ice cream was really plain, no lychee, no rose flavor. My brother chose the same flavor to sample and he agreed it tasted like vanilla. My mom had actual vanilla, and I asked her if she wanted more, she said she wanted an ice cream sandwich. Omg. The look on the guy's face. My mom gets the ones from Whole Foods, not the horribly processed ones at a regular supermarket. This shop's health score is a bit scary. What ingredient are being used that's prohibited..again if you're used to quality ice cream, this is just okay...definitely not worth the $$ they charge.
google avatar

Jiawen L.

Yelp
Decent gelato with decent service. The line was slightly long and they took a while to make the gelato (had to put the gelato back into the refrigerator because it wasn't keeping shape). The gelato melted pretty quickly and the cup was rather small, so it melted over my hands. The price was rather expensive ($9.5 per pig gelato). I only went because of a promotion (buy one get one fifty percent off), so the price was better. TLDR: decent gelato place, slightly expensive and it's gelato isn't anything revolutionary nor a must go
google avatar

Domily A.

Yelp
I got the medium size cup of peach oolong tea flavor. The character I asked for was the happy bear. My other favorite flavor from them was the lychee & rose. I wish they had the passion fruit flavor! Once I am in flushing, I will come back.
google avatar

Megane L.

Yelp
Super cute!! The peach oolong was definitely my favorite flavor out of the ones I tasted. As other reviewers said, the tea flavor is really strong so if you like that then this flavor is great for you! On the other hand, I felt that the matcha was pretty mild. The employees are super nice and let us sample as many flavors as we wanted. The character gelatos are $10 (with tax) but you do get two scoops.
google avatar

Connie W.

Yelp
Walked by Friday night on a very full stomach w/no desire for gelato. We were offered to taste some flavors, couldn't resist. We all ended getting scoops of mango sorbet & passion fruit gelato. Really creamy & fruity not too sweet either. Had been wanting to try since they opened. I'll definitely be back to try new flavors.
google avatar

Yelp
Words can't describe how much I love this place. It's walking distance from Skyview and Tangram Mall. The service is always amazing - the workers are always so kind. This place has so many different flavors to choose from, and has your trusty chocolate and vanilla as well. Right now what I've loved the most is their Uji Matcha. Great matcha flavor and creamy. Their peach oolong is super light with that deep tea flavor, and not overbearingly sweet. I've also enjoyed their white rabbit & lavender yogurt flavors. Lots of flavors to enjoy! And of course what drew me in was their animal art - every time I'm there I gotta choose a new animal. It ranges close to $10 for two scoops and a design. There's no seating, but definitely lots to check out on foot around the area while you eat. They also have a card special where if you buy 5 gelatos you'll be able to redeem a free medium. Will definitely be back even more!

Yara S.

Yelp
The ice cream is delicious here. I wanted to take my grandson and daughter for their first time. They love the cute characters and the flavor. I haven't tried the other flavors yet but it is cute idea! They are pretty quick with their service and clean place as well. My only issue would be that they are pricey for ice cream but other than that I would still come again!
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty interesting flavors, the lychee rose taste like sugar sorbet not that good. Peach oolong, sesame seaweed was good. Blood orange couldn't really taste jasmine but not bad.

Yelp
So yummy! Randomly walked past this place and wanted to try it, they have just the cutest ice creams. And it is so good!! the staff was also SO NICE. I would 100% come back again and again. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Very nice gelato store!!! I love Lychee Rose and Peach Oolong~ Delicious and excellent service! They will give you a try before you buy it. It won't force you to buy it See you next time, La Mira!

Yelp
Highly recommend!! My husband and I were walking around flushing and came across this gelato place. I've seen it previously on social media but didn't know it was by flushing so i had to try it. I got peach & oolong and rose & lychee. My peach oolong flavor is strong and you can taste both favors, it's my husband favorite. The rose lychee was more subtle. I will definitely come back to try the other flavors. We got two scoops for around 8$ and it's totally worth it, the portions were huge. We went to park slope the other day for gelato and I got two scoops for around 7$. It was like maybe four bites... like 1/4 the portion of la Mira. So this place was def worth it!! Would come back!!

Zhi Hao L.

Yelp
Cute spot with friendly staff and great customer service. They let you try all the flavors if you want and they have a lot of unique and yummy ones.

Yelp
Nice menu , I love there wheel cake and gelato , they also have macaroons and more. I will be going back. i went and got me some New Orleans chicken wheel cake , the ham corn and egg also Cantonese custard pork floss. They were yummy. Good service and easy to find. I like the decor inside.

Yelp
I tried the Longan Rose flavor and it was delicious! I was surprised by how much the flavors actually came out, and not to mention the employees were super nice! Their gelato is amazing!!

Natalie M.

Yelp
Decided to treat myself after a long day of classes and I was not disappointed with what I got. The woman was kind and generous with the samples, and I fell in love with their Purple Yam & Taro. It reminds me of ube ice cream but creamier given that it's gelato, and the flavor is still there that leaves a pleasant aftertaste on the tongue. Even though it's about $6.00 for a small scoop, I'd say it's worth it for the quality and the fact that they put extra on top of what fits in the cup. I hope La Mira Gelateria is here to stay!

Henry F.

Yelp
Was in the mood for something sweet and stumbled upon this shop. The staff were extremely friendly and inviting. The different flavors of gelato are uniquely asian based. I highly recommend you try the black sesame & seaweed. Weird. But very, very good. Their mango sorbet was a personal favorite. Their flavors are not overly sweet, and it's very addicting. Will be back again!

Leslie H.

Yelp
This place has really tasty Asian inspired flavors! I got the peach oolong but also had a sample of the mango sorbet. They were both really rich in flavor and you can taste that it's all freshly made. I will definitely be going back soon to try some of the other flavors. I wish this place success!

Emily H.

Yelp
I visited this weekend with my family! I was pleasantly surprised with all the unique flavors they had. I got the matcha and peach oolong they were both delicious and the texture was perfect. Also, the workers were very friendly. Would definitely come back here with friends.

Sharon J.

Yelp
The gelato comes in many different flavors and really cute designs. There's many different animal characters and they taste really good and they're so cute. The passion fruit and pistachio are my favorite flavors. I am so glad that a gelato store opened in flushing. We've really been needing a cute place like this.
