"My burrito jam of 2018 was La Mission on University Ave because I love the carnitas and how artfully they have transformed an old Taco Bell into an all-around terrific non-chain taqueria." - Ellen Fort

Drove by this place for years but never came in until this week. We loved our experience here: I had tacos 2 kinds and my husband had a burrito. Friendly staff took our order and we sat outside on picnic benches in the sun in a pretty setting. We will be back-there is more to try!

Delicious tasting Mexican food with a lovely patio in the back. Prices are a little more expensive than other Mexican places but they do have quality food. Recommend going to try their breakfast menu!

La Mission has excellent Mexican food with big portions. You would never know from looking at it because it looks like a fast food Mexican restaurant that has been renovated, in fact, long ago, it used to be other places. I wish they had more seating inside, there’s only enough room for maybe 10 people, and outside is usually too cold in Berkeley to go and hang out. But there is a lot of outdoor seating if the weather is decent. While everything I’ve had here has been good, the Baja fish taco might be my favorite. The posole is also good, but the portion is so huge. I felt like it was enough for five people. I wish the inside of the restaurant or a little bit warmer, but on the other hand, it stays open later than almost any place else around that has decent food.

Big Mexican menu with great options. The chipotle chicken sandwich is amazing! It's a generous amount of food and the chipotle sauce is the perfect flavor and right amount of spice. Each time I stay out here for work I stop here for dinner. They have a nice patio area to chill out on. Definitely worth a stop!

I came here on a whim and I liked it. The food was good and generous portions. They mainly have outdoor seating and limited indoor seating. Very friendly staff and a nice chill vibe with families and couples.

I always enjoy eating at La Mission! When I stopped by yesterday, I tried the green breakfast enchiladas with chorizo which was so so good. The burritos are always generous and delicious. You order at the counter inside and then take a number and find a seat- my favorite ordering system. Plenty of outdoor seating as well, some of which is covered by a roof.

I never regretted a burrito purchase until tonight… $20 for a burrito ($19.73 with tax), you gotta be kidding me… I thought at least it’s a hefty burrito, nope just wrapped up in two layers of foil. Like fully wrapped with two distinct sheets of aluminum foil. Unfortunately it appears that the same wrapping enthusiasm was missing during the construction of the burrito as it began to unwrap with the first bite and fell apart entirely by the end. The disappointments did not end there. They put salsa in the burrito, but you might be better off sucking on a handful of jalapeno seeds which probably have more flavor. Usually there is great reward with hot salsa as it packs so much flavor with the punch. This was just the punch again and again. Ask for the salsa on the side if you would like to taste your food. And you know what, I could let it all go if it was a $14 burrito but nope paid $20 for what exactly? What’s next? $30 burritos will be the norm before the end of the decade? This has to stop somewhere. So many good spots for a burrito in east bay and this is NOT one of t hem.

Great food and will definitely come back. In particular their chips and guacamole are delicious, crispy tacos and plantains are good and their horchata is delicious. I agree they have they have the best mole but they skimp on adding the sauce to their burritos and flautas. Both were a little dry and there was so little mole sauce I couldn’t fully appreciate its taste. Plus it would have made all the difference in enjoying both these dishes. I asked for more mole for the flautas.
