Google
Amazing Oaxacan (Mexican food) also the price is more than fair! If I were them I would charge more. Food is super fresh and is great for take out and reheated. Will keep coming back.

Google
Great food. Great service. From Texas and craving Mexican food. A little research on REDDIT and I found. Review by a local born and raised in Oaxaca. He shared that the food at this restaurant was authentic, like what he was raised on as a kid. Do I jumped in the car with my son in law and off we went. Walking into the restaurant I immediately thought it looked just like small family owned restaurants I have enjoyed all over Mexico. A quick look at the menu and it is easy to see that this is not a throw down Mexican American restaurant. This is the real deal - a true Mexican restaurant. I ordered the Chicken mole and my son in law had green chicken enchiladas. We had guacamole on the side and a green and a red salsa. OMG - it was all fantastic. The mole had a deep, rich and complex taste - incredible. The enchiladas were perfection. The guacamole was thick with big chunks of avocado - not a blended or over processed sauce. To drink - fresh juices that were absolutely delicious. So from someone that has eaten Mexican food all over Mexico, trust me, you will find great food here at a good price. Give it a try - experiment a little - its all good,

Great service! Atmosphere enjoyable. It seems a overpriced at first, but when you get your plate you can see it's well worth the price. The food is fresh and the portions are large. We took half our food home and ate the next day. The only complaint that I have is that they charge $3.50 for a can of soda or a bottle of soda, not a specialty soda. Coke and diet coke. It's a little ridiculous since there aren't any refills. Definitely overpriced drinks. However, we would definitely go again and not order sodas.

My husband and I had lunch here and we really enjoyed it. The server was very attentive and amiable and our food was really good. My husband is from the southeast of Puebla, very close to the state of Oaxaca, so he's familiar with the Oaxacan cuisine. We've struggled to find Mexican food that we can recommend to friends without hesitation and now we can sincerely recommend this place. We shared the enmoladas with eggs and two tamales: one with chicken and mole and the other one with pork in green salsa (or "guisado verde"). The server made a mistake with the tamales and gave us one with rajas (slices of chile) but after we let her know, she brought us the one we originally ordered. The portions were generous but not outrageous and the flavor was really nice. I especially enjoyed the taste of the mole and my husband agrees with me. It tastes very, very similar to the mole he ate while growing up in Puebla. Since it was a bit cold outside, we ordered a champurrado (basically a hot chocolate with milk and corn masa to make it thick and smooth) and a chocolate de agua (with water instead of milk; this is a very typical beverage of Oaxaca). Our beverages were warm and delicious without being too sweet. After our meal, we wandered into the adjacent grocery store and we found a few items from our childhood that we haven't seen in years. Overall, we really liked the food and the service and we are sure we want to come back again.

Came for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Wanted to try the chicken mole and it was very good. Worth the drive if you are a fan of this type of food. Located in downtown Hillsboro which is fun to walk around and shop.

Google
This food was really good! My husband got a burrito and it was really filling he only ate half. I got two mole enchiladas and the mole was really great, kind of spicy but very yummy. They were also really filling I ate one and took one home. I did have to ask the waitress for water, utensils and chips and dip after we had ordered and been sitting down for like 10 minutes (and it was just us and another couple), but she was young and could have been learning. We’ll definitely be going again.

Google
Service is slow. Had to go up front and ask for water. They don’t serve chips and salsa by default, you have to order it and when you do they feel wired and wonder if you also will order food. On the menu food looks good, haven’t had mine yet, still working on getting basic Mexican restaurant services that I am used to getting. Wow - after some wait time, what a great food. It is all made fresh, don’t go there expecting food immediately. This is truly an authentic Mexican restaurant.

Google
Stopped by to get some authentic Oaxacan food, and they did not disappoint! The food was amazing, and the service was impeccable! Highly recommended if you are looking for something other than the generic Mexican food. Try the mole and tlayuda you won't be disappointed. Show up hungry portions are huge!

Yelp
This is a very lively place. Bright and you know that you are in a Mexican restaurant! We both had "traditional" meals which were excellent. The staff knew the menu and could explain how foods were prepared. I'm GF, no problem. There is a market attached to the restaurant, worth the time to browse/shop. Easy parking.

Yelp
Utterly delightful and delicious time at La Mixteca! The food here is authentic Oaxacan cuisine which features rich, complex sauces, tender meats and lots of color! Don't know what to order? No problem! The owners, Lucia and Jose, and their children are informative, welcoming and patient hosts. Lucia honors her mother by cooking her traditional recipes. After sampling a spicy little grasshopper (slightly chewy with a crunch. A leg got stuck in my teeth but it wasn't unpleasant!), I enjoyed a delightful pork ribs dish. I thought it was a mole sauce but looking at the menu, it could have been the pork ribs in red sauce. In any case, yummy! No knife needed. Sauce was delectable! Small chunks of potatoes alongside soak it up nicely. Served with excellent flavorful beans and rice and three handmade tortillas. Also tried the Memelitas de Frijole appetizer, a triangle overflowing with black bean paste and cheese! Both dishes had a pleasant kick. I don't like extreme spicy. This was just right! Rounded out my meal with a passionfruit agua fresca, best way to cool that tongue down. Everything arrived promptly despite the fact I was there with a very large group. We basically took over the restaurant! Because of that, Jose served us complementary tiny shots of mescal with an orange slice and a refreshing dessert with 2 scoops of sorbet and tiny cubes of frozen mango. A refreshing way to finish an all-round unique, delectable and authentic eating adventure!

Yelp
It was our first time with my family, it was delicious My two kids got soft tacos with steak and I got the salsa verde pork plata. Everything is big portions.

Dana B.

Yelp
Friendly staff with attentive customer service. We had the horchata, a carne asada burrito and a pork taco plate. Everything was good and the rice & beans were delicious. I'll definitely return.

David F.

Yelp
Very good Oaxacan food. Tried several items including Picaditas, Menelitas, Carne Asada tacos and Green Enchiladas with chicken. Service (owner) was very pleasant and a great smile. They are on back side of a Mexican market with lots of parking. Will come back.

Mathias Z.

Yelp
Excellent mole. Food was really tasty and not the general American Mexican food. We really enjoyed our visit.

Dolores M.

Yelp
Three times I've tried to order thru door dash and three times my order was cancelled due to they could not fulfill my order. I ordered tacos and Chile rellanos. I don't understand why the order could not be fulfilled if the restaurant is open?

Yolanda R.

Yelp
Cute restaurant with delicious food. It was our first time visiting, and we were impressed and delighted with the food we ordered. The mole chicken dish I ordered was very flavorful and so delicious and similar to the one I grew up eating in my abuelita's (grandma's) kitchen. My kid loved their memelita with black beans - made from delicious fresh corn masa. I also had a cup of black coffee that actually turned out to be Café de olla, a traditional coffee beverage made with ground coffee and cinnamon. If you find yourself in the Hillsboro's historic district and you're hungry, I would highly recommend giving them a try. I'll definitely be back with my husband and daughter. Customer service was good - our server was very attentive and professional; their restroom is located outside of the restaurant space down the hallway from the entrance of the building, the key is located at the ordering counter. Parking is limited due to the construction across the street from the restaurant (one way street too - going west) - we parked on 3rd. Anyway, hope you enjoy this eatery.

Yelp
Very delicious, authentic Oaxacan cuisine! I ordered the Costillitas en Salsa (red or green sauce)-very tender Pork ribs and I picked the green sauce. My wife had two tacos (carne aside and al pastor) which were a meal because the were humungous. They offer very safe dine in spaced out well indoors and cute tents outdoors. Great service, delicious beverages, amazing free chips served with beans topped with fresh cheese, red & green salsas.

Lydia S.

Yelp
It was fun to try Oaxacan food as we had never had it before. Pictured is the Tlayuda which is a signature dish. Clearly, it could EASILY be split! While the website doesn't show it, there are margaritas on the menu and we enjoyed those. Service was ok....no waters for all or extreme attentiveness. Setting is very casual.

Ka'ala L.

Yelp
The pazole was flavorful and full of meat and hominy. The fresh plate of jalapenos, raw onions, radish, lettace and tostadas were an nice addition to the soup. I also tried the pastor taco which was equally as delicious l. The meat was moist and marinated nicely and the tortillas tasted hand made. I wish the place was closer to me, it reminds me of the food I used to have in Mexico.

Yelp
My friend and I went to this lovely place yesterday as I wanted mole. I didn't realize there were peanuts in it - a real no, no for me. I did ask but the server didn't ask the lady (owner) who makes the mole. Those mistakes are very easy to make. The owners were so very nice and I had a bit of my friend dinner so I know their food is delicious!! I intend to return with additional friends for a wonderful evening. And they have a location on Main St that is very convenient for all sorts of visiting, music, Farmer's Market I recommend this establishment because the food is good and the owners so very lovely. They will be adding a note about peanuts to the menu.

Pamela L.

Yelp
The first time I ate here, I loved it. I thought it was the best margarita I've ever had. I was excited to return. I showed up after work. I ordered a margarita and the young person at the cash register said they wouldn't have a bartender for an hour and a half. I left. The second time I went there I took a friend. I made sure that they were open at 11 o'clock on Saturday. We showed up at noon. The sidewalk advertising placard was out. The restaurant was locked. I called the number on the placard. I was told the staff were at the other restaurant. I drove from a distance and recommended the restaurant to my friend. If you don't have staffing, change your hours. Update your hours on your social media and website. Pull in your sidewalk placards. The community invested a lot of charity money getting this restaurant up and running after the fire. It's disrespectful to the other area merchants who are trying to revitalize downtown Hillsboro. Nothing will kill a business quicker than false advertising.

Alex P.

Yelp
We heard about this place from a friend so we gave it a shot last week. Very delicious! We got mole and pollo asada. Both were very good. The secret to a good Mexican restaurant is the rice and beans. If the R&B are not fresh then the restaurant probably isn't that good. The rice and beans here are good enough to eat as a main dish. We came back today and got chicken tacos and al pastor tacos. Both were amazing. Especially the al pastor.

Sonny B.

Yelp
Just got done eating menudo here it was good but very disappointed. I come here all the time but I will.be taking my business elsewhere this time their was barely any menudo meat in it.

TVAT T.

Yelp
Best Mexican food in the Hillsboro area. Mole burrito is my go-to. My only complaint is that the hours of operation isn't consistent. Sometimes they are open and often times closed or closed earlier than described--huge inconvenience. The food is worth the visit, but call ahead of time to insure that their open.

Helena Q.

Yelp
Overall, the sauces are top notch flavor wise, goat and beef okay, but the chicken is very dry. The by far standout was the Chile Relleno (13$), which was delicious. The Birra de Chivo (14$) and Birra de Res (15$) were both taste wise good, but a tad tough. Unfortunately they got one of the orders wrong and put chicken instead of chorizo on our tlayuda tradicional (19$), and the chicken there, and in the mole oxacaqueno (15$) and enchiladas verde (13$) was dry. However, it otherwise tasted great, so probably getting a different meat would be delicious!! Also the red salsa they gave was excellent. I'd categorize the red salsa as moderate spicy, and all the other dishes as mild at most. Overall, great, with the exception of the chicken. Would definitely go back

Daniela O.

Yelp
This place has great food! The owners are friendly, the decor and atmosphere is very nice and they have a variety of different dishes. Authentic, delicious and good sized portions!

Rick H.

Yelp
The food was very good with extra large portions. Atmosphere was good except for the other patron watching videos on his phone so loud everyone had to hear it

Helen A.

Yelp
The food is excellent and the service matches! I eat here at least twice a week and have never been disappointed. I have special diet needs and they accommodate. I would recommend this to anyone who wants an excellent authentic Mexican meal.

Mithrander m.

Yelp
Ordered street tacos, chips with frijoles (pinto beans) The chicken was cooked and grilled perfect and moist. I also ordered chorizo which was full of great flavor and had some crunch to it which was great!!! Also ordered Memelitas de Frijol; which was a triangle corn tortilla with spicy black beans it was AWESOME....meat is optional. Been here a few times now never disappointed. Friendly family atmosphere. Always take to go order out through grub hub on yelp no issues.

Brian G.

Yelp
Super authentic. Really great service. Not the usual Mexican Restaurant fare, this is special. Highly recommend!

Katie R.

Yelp
Not a great mole sauce, unfortunately. It was really disappointing since I thought it would be a sure thing at a Oaxacan restaurant. I felt it was way too spicy and bitter. No sweet mellow flavor at all. I ordered through grub hub and the order did come correct. Thank goodness I also tried the picaditas with al pastor. That was amazing. I would come back for those.

Bryan J.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food, served by the nicest people. I highly recommend paying them a visit!

Araceli L.

Yelp
I came in with my mom as she told me this place was very good and I was wanting some menudo. My mom ordered the quesadilla, it was good but super greasy...way to greasy! I ordered a tamale , a sope , and a bowl of menudo. It was all disappointing, the tamale would have been good but it was very salty. The sope I didn't even try because I asked for no pico de Gallo on it and of course they put it on there and so my mom ate it. The menudo would have been great, it was spicy and came with tortillas....what made it not great was that it clearly tasted like it was days old. A few weeks later my mom tells me she wants a caldo de pollo to call and place and order but to make sure to ask when it was made. I called and asked and yes they had caldo and I also asked for menudo , they also had this but when I went on to ask the lady when these were made she said " 2 weeks ago" WTH really? She said yes everything is made from weeks ago I will never be going here again.

R F.

Yelp
I ordered online and said will be ready 25-45 minutes, then I went to the one is in downtown Hillsboro what it was the only one I new it because I had the tacos before and I was not impressed but I was going to try carne asada plate and other food for my wife and my daughter. The girl at this location downtown she had no idea about my order and she called the other restaurant is actually inside of su casa import, she ask me if I want my food from her or the other restaurant and I said if they have the food ready I will just go there, she say yes the food is ready, also my friend order a soup for him as well, when I got there the owner Lucia it seems like the she was with an attitude, as soon we approached to the counter she ask me what I need, I explain About my order and before I finish she said that she need to take care other orders and a table with her finger pointing to me that I need to wait I try to say something she just no let me talk and I got a text that my order was canceled because the restaurant was short on item. I tell her that the order is canceled she says oh well, and I said to stop talking rude to me and she went off, ask me to leave and I said she's an abuse person ,when she yelled to us and called us mother f**kers the whole store can hear , it was the most horrible experience, I never hear anyone before in any restaurant can be like that, I definitely will never go back ever. I strongly recommend to be very careful when you order on line because they don't have a clue how to manage the orders, I strongly do not recommend this place at all. The nice reviews are questionable. I told her that I was going to post this review and she yelled to me that she doesn't care. So all this bad experience was like an hour going from one place to another and she questioned me my ability to know where was the main restaurant , she think that the whole town know about her biz.

Brenda M.

Yelp
I love their chille relleno and birria de chivo...and this easily became my husbands favorite restaurant! You can tell they put their heart and soul into every dish!

Javier A.

Yelp
Enmoladas es uno de mis platillos favoritos But tlayudas are also delicious i can never finish one Taking half home yummm

Dahlia C.

Yelp
At first it was hard finding their restaurant but I quickly realized that it was located inside a supermarket towards the back. The market was nice and clean so that was nice. The restaurant has a section closed off from the market which you have to walk through a small gate to enter. There was a sweet lady who took our order and the wait was not too long. I ordered the Huarache w/Pastor for myself, and few carne asada tacos and burritos for the family. We took it home and everyone said that they were tasty and flavorful, plus the portions were decent. I think for the most part, food was good as well as the service. Glad to discover this spot!

Kris V.

Yelp
I ordered through Door Dash and found La Mixteca Oaxaca. I'm giving four stars because what I got -Mocha Cake (coffee cake) -Enchiladas -empanada with chicken. Everything was tasty and good portion sized. I kept getting cartilage in my chicken (or at least it felt like it) so I would just stick with Carne asada instead. But the food was fresh and flavorful. Can't wait to try something new here!

Linda T.

Yelp
The lady is very unprofessional haas a very bad attitude towards customers. They never have any food or drinks. I went in the other day asked for about 4 different items and they said they didn't have any of those!

Linda A.

Yelp
The food is so delicious at La Mixteca Oaxaca and the owners are friendly, welcoming and fabulous cooks! I tried the black bean enchiladas with chicken and the chicken mole, both were fabulous. I will be back.

Linda S.

Yelp
We wandered in on a Saturday early evening and had a great meal. We visited Oaxaca in the past and wanted authentic components of a Oaxacan meal. Our meal were great - Tlayudas, Mole enchiladas., and memlitas. Service was attentive but did not pressure us. Also enjoyed the mezcal margaritas, which were huge. Highly recommend.

Bell S.

Yelp
Honestly one of the best places to eat. I came to Oregon in 2018 & ever since it's one of my favorite restaurants. They have a pretty & awesome set up to eat outside. I feel safe & ready to eat.

Denise C.

Yelp
Husband works in Hillsboro and had to stop by to pick something up. We were in the mood for Mexican food. We saw that this place had 5 stars. So we decided to try this place out, BUT ... they did not have half of the stuff on their menu Also, the person taking the order was a 10 year old girl that was not trained well. Anything we asked her for she had to take my phone and show the cooks to see if they had it available. This restaurant is also inside a grocery store. Food was ok, not worth all the troubles. Won't be coming here again. Service was ok. I don't recommend this place.

Maria G.

Yelp
Authentic and delicious ! Best in the area. Have tried almost everything here even their agua fresca. The BEST!!! Do wish they'd open every day.

Angels I.

Yelp
Good food and customer service without a doubt I recommend it for the first time that I try Mexican food so good Buena comida y atención al cliente sin duda se lo recomiendo primera vez que pruebo comida mexicana tan buena

Joan R.

Yelp
So . Good . Finally ! Mexican food around Hillsboro that taste great ! We had a "carne cecina " and I think the other dish was pork "enchilada" and I mean not an enchilada but the seasoning of the pork was called enchilada . They were both delicious and were served with beans, rice , a small lettuce and radish side, and the best fresh made tortillas I have tasted . For appetizer we order a tamal stuffed with pork and with green Chile sauce with cream a lettuce/tomatoes on top. Best tamal ever too. I will go here for Mexican food over and over again.

Jason P.

Yelp
Ok people: do yourself a favor and get out of your comfort zone while experiencing the BEST Mexican food in hillsboro. If you see something on the menu that you can't pronounce, order it, eat it, and send me your thanks! Everything is amazing! No bs! The service is awesome. The food is made fresh! You won't regret trying this place. I throw my money at them at least once a week. They cater, too! Go! Go now!!!

Anita C.

Yelp
My husband and I live in Beaverton, but decided to have breakfast at this small restaurant inside a Mexican grocery store in Hillsboro. We were very pleased with the quality of the food. My husband had menudo (Mexican tripe soup), and I had the chilaquiles with egg. We will definitely return and try some of their other dishes.

Sheila J.

Yelp
Excellent food! Wonderful service! I ate there for the first time last night. I was very impressed with the authentic tastes!

Patricia R.

Yelp
This is restaurant became one of my favorites! I have been in Oaxaca and the food from this restaurant is pretty authentic. The Tlayudas is a must! Also they have this dish called Memelitas, that just mention them, made me crave them. The owners are very nice! It is a family business, so can tell the love and effort they have put into their business because food is amazing!!!
