"The cash-only bakery in Jackson Heights has a huge selection of breads and pastries from Colombia, Uruguay, and Argentina, as well as some savory sandwiches and other prepared foods. We particularly love the dough here, enriched to a fluffy state, with a shellacked golden crust. The rich, savory pernil is the filling to focus on, but if you need more than just a little snack, you should also get one stuffed with deep green, slightly tangy spinach." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, monica prestia

Nothing special. Average bread. No special deserts . Tamales 4/10. Hella greasy . Pan 8/10

Bread is delicious, customer service is horrendous. The lady working there was very rude. When we asked for another bag so the bread wasn't squished, she said no because the bread wasn't squished when it clearly was. Then when asking for the receipt she didn't want to provide us with it.

This wasn't our initial stop. Every time we travel we seek out the best donuts in the city. Although a subjective topic, we generally get a good recommendation everywhere we go, and haven't yet been disappointed. However, when we got to our stop the smells coming from La Nueva Mexican Bakery brought us in the door. Holy moley. We come from a town of excellent panaderias and we are picky, but this one was right up there with the sheer diversity of choices, and each one was exceedingly tasty. If you hit up major cities make sure to visit some of the more homely neighborhoods to visit places like La Nueva, I'm making it a point to swing by again the next time I visit San Diego. This time, I'll try the cinnamon coffee with the postres.

My go to pan dulce shop for the office. Be sure to pick up tamales or pollo de salsa verde for lunch while you are there... delicious!

I recommend the Tamales they are awesome!! The bread is very good too! You can't go wrong here.

The sweet bread is the best! Better than the big-store supermarket bakeries. It tastes fresh and has a very natural sweet flavor. I love their conchas, their puerquitos, and their cuernitos. So yummy! Their tamales are bomb, too. They don't skimp on the filling, which is what a lot of places do, unfortunately. But not here, they pack the tamales full of meat or cheese - whatever flavor you're getting, you'll be sure to get your money's worth. I saw they also sell burritos and tortas. The place is small so it can get crowded but that's ok. Get in, get your yummy goodies, get out, and enjoy the deliciousness, knowing that you're supporting the local community.

I wish they would provide paper cups instead of styrofoam cups for our very hot coffee. They did years ago. I hope they bring them back. I miss their cinnamon coffee,😋

Yelp
One of the best local bakeries with fresh goods overflowing the carts and shelves on any given day. Try their empanadas! Shared a bag of a dozen goodies for a workshop and everyone loved them!

Yelp
Best pan Dulce (concha) I've had in a long time. The bread was fresh and just the right amount of sweetness. I also picked up a cheese empanada which I'm planning to eat tomorrow. Next time I hope to try their picadillo empanadas. Nice customer service too.

Yelp
I've been to this Mexican bakery several times now. I usually get their homemade burritos (caseros), tamales, and savoury pastries. They are delicious and hit the spot. One day I will try their sweet sweet baked goods. They surely look delicious! Check them out. Muchos gracias La Nueva Bakery!

Yelp
I love this place. I regularly have some appts in this area and always stop by for a bag of amazing sweet breads on my way out. Such nice people too!

Yelp
I had to work late, until 4 am and I was craving some fresh warm bread. Every place I looked up did not open until at least 5 am, La Nueva opens at 3 am! It did not disappoint, I got the picadillo pastry, the bollos with ham and cheese, bean and cheese, and some delicious hot tamales. My only regret is that I did not get any of their burritos! But I definitely will next time!

Yelp
Such good Mexican pastries, even my friend(who's Mexican) love the "pan dulce". What I absolutely come here for is the fresh coffee they make, Mexican style, which is coffee brewed with Mexican cinnamon. It's simple and humble and so warming that the fact that it comes out of a coffee pot with a spout (getting the full experience) does not take away from how good it is. All empanadas and breads and pastries are freshly baked and they even make Tortas too!

Yelp
Stopped by here while I was looking for something sweet to eat- I ordered the chorizo empanada and an apple turnover, coffee and coconut cookie. It's an authentic Mexican bakery- help support small business!

Yelp
I meet the owner by accident aaannndd I don't regret because the beef tamales are soooo goooood I'll definitely get more.. now the dessert, sweet bread so goood but im impressed with the tamales...

Yelp
Freindly staff. I have not tried anything esle other than their baked goods. Products are very tasty and freshly made everytime I have stopped in. A little out of the way but worth the stop if your nearby.

Jesus M.

Yelp
This is our favorite Mexican bakery, they have all the delicious classic options for pan dulce, and options like breakfast empanadas too. It is worth a try if you want some pan dulce.

Maryella P.

Yelp
Meh... 60¢ each and not all that good... I try to support small businesses when I can but I'm not going to sacrifice taste or pay more in order to do that... This place just didn't cut it for me.. honestly, I'd rather go to Northgate or try to find another panaderia nearby. You can get a bag of about 5 "day old" bread for $1. You get what you pay for.

Yelp
This place is awesome and filled with so much heartWish there was more bakeries like this one. I would buy from them everyday if I live around the corner.

Lola S.

Yelp
Tamales are very bland, definitely don't taste homemade. There's an older woman in her 40's that works here that doesn't even greet you when you come in through the door and makes faces when you ask for help. Walking in you're hit with the wonderful smell of the sweet bread but the place looks a bit run down and not so clean. I would definitely not visit unless you're down to your last choice.

Yelp
So I particularly enjoyed what seemed to be a simple cup of coffee, but honestly was some of the best coffee I've had. Maybe it just really hit the spot that day; I don't know. I visited sometime in Mar. 2017. The service was friendly and I appreciated that being that I am not from the neighborhood and this was my first visit. I bought a bag of pastries while I was there, however they were less to be desired for. Kind of dry and not particularly flavorful. I chose not to waste the calories on these and honestly I could not even give them away. But if I'm in the neighborhood again I definitely will grab coffee and try something different to eat since it appears they have options.

Yelp
This place is awesome. When I was young I used to go to this cool bakery in Tijuana for the best cookies bread and pastry. This place is even better and I don't have to venture across the boarder. The baked goods were great and prices can't be beat. The owner is great and helpful. We'll definitely be back

Julie G.

Yelp
This place has the best pan dulce ever!!! The bread is very fresh and when you take it home it will definitely stay soft for days! It is very difficult to find a bakery with good pan dulce like this place. The tamales are good and moist, just perfect not to excessive on the maza and the bolillos with the chorizo and beans, queso and jalapenos!!! I give this place a 5 star!!! Definitel recommend a friend or family member to go to this place!

Alissa G.

Yelp
I'm always searching for delicious sweet tamales and this place hit the spot. So good, I'll be driving out that way more often just to have an excuse to stop in. Served with a smile and very friendly service, the bakery items we tried were very good too and I want to go back to sample more of those as well.
