Yelp
I really want to give this restaurant 5 because of the stellar customer service, but the food was not amazing so I am reluctantly giving them 4 for the overall experience.
We went to a cardiology appointment for our dog and decided to get lunch before we headed back to OC. After looking at the Yelp reviews of the restaurants in the area, we decided that La Ong seemed like our ideal dog friendly choice!
Upon walking up to the restaurant, the server immediately offered our dog a bowl of water and sat us in the cute outdoor patio. She always made sure our dog had a full bowl of water throughout our lunch...her kindness was genuine and we truly appreciated her. I wish I got her name :(
We ordered:
* Thai wings (gf) - fried chicken wings with thai chili sauce
Absolutely our favorite dish. Perfectly crispy and well seasoned. 5/5
* Chicharron (gf) - (wansaw) crispy pork belly, crispy garlic
Crispy skin but I did not enjoy how gelatinous the pork fat still was. And the accompanying sauce was bland. 2/5
* OG Pad Thai (gf) - organic tofu, chives, bean sprouts, egg, peanuts + shrimp
If you like pad Thai, this is a good dish but nothing stellar 3/5
* Holy basil & ribeye - ribeye, chili, garlic, holy basil, fried egg, riceberry
The stewed steak was delicious and very flavorful, but the egg wasn't runny and the rice was too wet. 3.5/5
* Our cocktails were just okay. My lychee martini was too floral for me and my husband's mojito was a little too sweet.
All our dishes and cocktails were beautifully presented and again I can't say enough about the impeccable service and lovely decor. We're happy to have tried La Ong.
Tip: there's a parking garage 1 block around the corner that has 2 hour free parking
Tip: Across the street from Sprinkles and next to a French bakery if you'd like dessert after your Thai meal
