This place is worth the wait. We almost left the line but I'm so glad we didn't. They have a large table that accommodated our large 11 person group. Everyone loved their food and didn't leave anything on the plate. I recommend the Mexi Cuba Torta and Nutella Concha.

I was born and raised in Mexico City, and I can honestly say the flavors here take me right back to my childhood. Every dish is full of authentic, delicious flavor that feels like home. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the service is excellent. Everything I’ve tried has been absolutely amazing — highly recommend! 🤤

Google
Oh my gosh!! This place is amazing! The tres leches croissant was heavenly! The staff was very nice, but my iced latte took about 10 minutes to make. I also got a chocolate croissant for later that was delicious! I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Bring your sweet tooth and forget about counting calories! An amazing Mexican pastry shop with a good selection of breakfast and brunch options. You can get all sorts of pastries and some burgers too. It place is usually packed and there is likely to a wait. Would be good to see some healthy options on the menu as well.

Google
Quite literally they receive you with a red carpet. There is a line but goes quick, your food is made to order. The sweet bread is all delicious. I tried several sandwiches, coffee and bread the past three days for breakfast and never disappointed.

Jacob Stackhouse

Google
We just were able to try the pastries but days later we walked by and saw the line and really wished we woulda tried the actual food! Holy cow this place is amazing! The food looked phenomenal, the pastries WERE phenomenal! And the coffee was far far better than we would have ever expected! Stop on by! You won’t be disappointed

Google
I typically do not enjoy food enough to wait in line for it. Fortunately, my wife is much wiser than I am. So, we waited and I was once again grateful. The French Toast Clasico was beyond excellent. It presented with multiple textures and sweet enough that it didn't need the large amount of syrup I typically require. The pastries, both in the quantity, options were a beauty. The pictures do not do them justice. The whole experience, from prices to time in and was was great. Will definitely go back, next time we are in town.

Google
Such a STAPLE! You have to try this place. The selection of items in the bakery is absolutely insane. I could go here every day and not try every item. It's nuts. The coffee is amazing, the staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. It's located in very busy spot of Downtown, so there is so much to walk around to. The line was out the door when I came, so prepare yourself for a little bit of a wait but it does move fast. Lot's of seating options inside as well. Def a must do when in San Antonio!

Yelp
Always love to visit La Panadería in San Antonio. So far have visited two locations. Both serve real good food. Service is always attentive and staff is always nice. It does get pretty busy but stays organized. Parking is easy to find around the corner. 11 am would be the best time to visit the restaurant for a calmer ambiance

Yelp
Love their Cuban sandwiches! This was a really chic and unique establishment. They have a multitude of offerings for breakfast brunch and lunch. We got the French toast which came a with a delectable and huge serving of berries. It was pretty good but definitely was quite sugary. We also ordered a Cuban sandwich the next day and that was good. The sauce complemented the various packed meats and cheeses in the sandwich and punches quite a bit of flavors. We also got a steak sandwich but that was pretty lackluster; nothing really stood out. Overall solid place if you're looking for a comforting lunch or if you're looking to wake yourself up with a sugar packed breakfast

Yelp
Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness. You know those magical moments you can't recreate in a thousand years with unlimited tries? That was our visit to La Panderia. We happened to be staying at a hotel down the street and just noticed this bakery during our date night stroll. We decided we'd go pop in the next morning for brekkie, not realizing this place is an institution. Luckily, we arrived early enough that we only had to stand in line for about 10 minutes, about 4 of which were outside. Once we were inside, the smell of warm confectionary goodness greeted us. Oh my goodness, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Because the line takes a little while to get through, we had plenty of time to peruse the provided menus, but then we got within eyeshot of the pastry case and were totally thrown for a loop; there are gobs of beautiful, large, fresh pastries in their miles-long pastry case. I can't imagine how tired the staff is of hearing, "I'll have one of everything!" but seriously, I would take one (or more) of every single pastry in that case. Ugh. San Antonio is too far away. The space itself is delightful; community and private tables aplenty, and a simply perfect playlist going in the background. The food was unbelievable. The service was friendly and efficient. I'm still dreaming about all of it. The end of the whole experience was us walking by the building on our way back to our hotel, past the massive windows showing all the workers in the kitchen working with the most beautiful assortment of butter and dough ever created.

Yelp
They gave us menu to look at while in line. I wanted the croissant with tres leches and my husband wanted the tequila French toast. When we got to the counter, the tequila french toast was already gone. It was a bummer because we lined up for over an hour and then not to be able to eat what he wanted. We ordered the waffle croissant. It was okay. The croissant with Tres leches was okay but I was not blown away. (I love croissants) . The cafe Miel was very good. The Mexican hot chocolate was also very good. If there's a next time, we will just have drinks.

Yelp
Loved visiting this well known bakery/breakfast spot right in downtown San Antonio. Showed up at 8 am and beat the weekend rush which lined up down the block on our way out. We ordered their almond croissant French toast, avocado toast, and got some Mexican pastries to go on the way out. Their coffee was also excellent. Service was quick and friendly.

Yelp
I could not get enough of this place. I stopped in for breakfast both mornings I was in San Antonio. The pan dulce, avocado toast, and other pastries were divine! I dined in and did take out. Both were prompt, and the food was fresh! Be ready to wait if you come later in the day. The line starts before they even open. It's worth the wait!

Yelp
How good was the place? I was in San Antonino for all of three days and I went here twice! And that was only because I had to fly out early the last day. I turned the corner and immediately knew I was in for an experience as not only was there a line of soon-to-be patrons lined down the sidewalk, but there was also a red carpet. Aka, they knew there would be a line! The food and pastries are a new personal standard for me when finding new spots to eat. And the plating was perfection. If my meals were served in a fine dining restaurant, with low lighting and soft live jazz and no view of the street, I would have paid twice the price. It is that level of quality. But I hold a deep appreciation for how they interweave their craft and expertise into the everyday setting; one with children and first dates and quick work lunches and birthday celebrations. It is art amidst the mundane. And I want to purchase every piece (lazy pun intended)!

Yelp
Saw this place on TikTok and to stop in while in the area. Unfortunately I didn't try breakfast like I intended but I did order a Tequilla almond croissant and Cuban sandwich. Both were very good and the staff was friendly. You order at the counter and then find a seat wherever you'd like. There's plenty of seating and great people watching as the building is located on a corner of the intersection.

Yelp
While in San Antonio staying at the Hyatt on the riverwalk, we decided to try La Panaderia for breakfast. There was a line out the door when we got there, it did move quickly. We got the El Mexicano, and Fiesta Lobster Benedict. We loved both the items we got. We also loved their coffee and hot chocolate. There were more items we would have loved to try and couldn't. Definitely will be back when we are in San Antonio next.

Yelp
If you come here during peak hours expect a long wait. If you come here any other time there will be no wait times

Yelp
I'm begging you! Please build a Dallas location!!! We went here for lunch when we first got to San Antonio. The line was long but it moved relatively quickly. It was a really hot day so it was still pretty hot inside the restaurant. While we waited to order we were amazed by all the pastries on display. We couldn't resist getting a couple. I ordered the Cuban sandwich & it was delicious! Different than your normal Cuban but I loved the change. Even though it was busy it was still pretty easy to get a table for 3. We sat where we could see them making the fresh baked goods. We loved it so much, the next day we came back for breakfast & we were even more impressed. The croissant breakfast sandwich was huge, no one fully finished it & it was delicious! The one area of improvement is their service. Both days, the cashiers seemed so inconvenienced by our presence. I really hope this restaurant makes it to Dallas because I will be there every week if it does. Until then, I can't wait to eat it again in San Antonio!

Yelp
On a trip to San Antonio we walked by La Panadería Bakery Café at about 10am and noticed a line of about 15 people waiting to get in. Since we had already eaten we decided we HAD to try it the next morning before we left San Antonio. We arrived at 7:00am, which is when they opened and we were 2nd in line to get in. After looking at the restaurant set up, a line of 15 people would move fairly quickly. Restaurant is a large open area with a lot of tables. You walk in and have to pick up a menu. Then you walk by the bakery case. It's like walking a gauntlet of temptation. If you succumb, you order your bakery items and move on down the line to order menu items and drinks. It might be helpful if you go to their website or look at the menus posted on Yelp prior to arrival so you can order when you walk in. Once you order and pay you get a number to place on your table and the food is brought to you. We ordered Churro Cinnamon Roll, Ranchero Eggs Benedictine with black bean soup, LP Waffle Croissant with bacon a berries topped with whipped cream, and Avocado Toast with eggs. All were delicious. Eggs were cooked perfectly and the toast used in the Avocado Toast and Ranchero Benedictine was to die for. I had never had black bean soup and it was flavorful and went well with the Ranchero Benedictine. The berries were fresh and sweet and the whipped cream just made them better. Portions were plentiful. I have no complaints! Luckily I have another trip to San Antonio in a week and will definitely be stopping here for breakfast again!

Yelp
I was visiting San Antonio for a birthday and we saw rave reviews for this spot! It wasn't too far from the hotel so we wanted to make sure we checked it out before we left. We first went on a Sunday but the line was extremely long- like down the block, so we opted to come back on a Monday later morning. We got the Sunny Side Up and Scambled- bacon and egg sandwiches with pastries and a smores cookie. We also got a cold brew coffee with oakmilk. Its hard to choose they have a ton of options! You first order pastries at the counter and food at the register. They give you a number and bring it out. The Sunny Side Up sandwich came with a soup on the side. I wasnt sure what option to get and the guy at the register recommended the sopa de fideo. It reminded me of spaghetti tomato basil - it was fantastic! The sandwich was also excellent- the ham, cheese, egg all went perfectly together with the crispy bread. The pastries were good too- but I think we waited too long to eat them because they were a little dry. I would absolutely go back here!! Overall experience 4.5/5

Yelp
La Panaderia is amazing!!! I wasn't sure what to expect but their breakfast was easily one of my favorite meals while visiting San Antonio. They have a huge selection of gorgeous pastries. I went the savory route and ordered the Vegetariano sandwich with eggs, and it came with a lentil soup. It was a perfect harmony of a buttery flaky croissant, the tang from pickles, the smooth avocado. It was a very generous portion as well for breakfast. The service is also great. While the line can get long, it was maybe a 10-15 min wait until I ordered, and my food came out within 10 minutes. The staff is super friendly and eager to help and hear feedback. Overall I think there is something for everyone here and highly recommend a meal here!

Yelp
Move bakery restaurant that has a lot of Mexican options. I stopped by for a coffee and pastry. Friendly staff that keep the place clean. It gets very busy but the staff are good at cleaning the tables and making space

Yelp
I was told I could not leave San Antonio without stopping by La panadería and I'm glad I did not. We got a couple things to choose from and I thought everything tasted fresh and delicious. I can see why they have so many good reviews. Def worth stopping by!

Yelp
Quick and excellent... The bakery prices weren't bad but I thought the breakfast and lunch prices were a bit high. Our average was $25 per person....
google avatar

Yelp
The pastries were delicious! It is a cafeteria style restaurant that serves efficiently with a smile. The restaurant has seating inside and outside. It is clean and neat. Love the red highlights throughout the restaurant including a red carpet for the long line out front by the time we left. If you are in a rush...get there early (

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday morning from out of town to visit SA and this was a must-visit, so expectations were relatively high. First of all, there was no free parking in walking vicinity to the restaurant. We ultimately parked in an open lot across the street, which came out to be $16.51. Thankfully, the wait in line was not too bad. We were able to at least get in line inside the door. Unfortunately, by the time we got to the cash register, they told us the coffee machine was down (which meant I couldn't get any specialty espresso drinks) and we also couldn't get hot chocolate. We would have considered going elsewhere, but hey we just dropped over 16 bucks for parking, so here we are. Somehow, our order wound up in to-go packaging, even though we told them that we were dining in. On top of that, there was very limited seating available, so we waited for a table to open up after we had already paid. Despite it being the middle of the week, the bakery was extremely crowded, but maybe July 4th weekend had something to do with it as well. Even though the rest of the experience was disappointing, the food itself was quite good, which is why we were so hyped in coming here in the first place. We ordered an apple turnover, a Nutella-filled concha, the tequila french toast, and a torta al pastor. Every food item was great. But we had to chase it down with... iced water. Truly disappointing that we come to a brunch/bakery spot just to be told they didn't have coffee available. A heads up would have been nice as opposed to being informed at the register after waiting in a long line. If we were to come back and give this place another shot, it will be another location.

K D.

Yelp
Place is busy, so must be good right? We waited in line for about 20 minutes on a Monday morning. Once you order, it's easy to find a table despite the crowd and food arrives quick. Coffee was good, a little too sweet for my taste buds. Had their Hawaiana Torte with side of salad. It was huge. Had half the sandwich and saved the other to eat at the airport. Sandwich was excellent and they were not skimpy with the meat. Would recommend.
google avatar

Lauren R.

Yelp
Highly recommend. There is typically a wait and we did wait outside in the cold, but it was worth it. The service was super friendly, and the pastries are incredible. There are so many options, and something for everyone. The conchas are light and airy and everything is a modern take on a traditional Panadería.
google avatar

Tortious T.

Yelp
They gave me an 8 day old salad that was slimey and smelled like moldy cheese. Disgusting
google avatar

Andrew L.

Yelp
Wow wow wow. I don't know where to start either with the friendly staff, the vibrant atmosphere or the delicious food. Out of everything I loved the soup th most. Plain but done right packed with flavor. The only suggestion I would make is that when the clients take the numbers they put it on the table in a certain way--tell them to put it on the edge with the numbers facing out, so your waiters can see them. too many times I see your waiter struggled to find the numbers, but if you just Communicate with your customers to put the number at the end of the table, your service ratings, would jump.
google avatar

Camille L.

Yelp
Omg this place is amazing. Service was fantastic. Arrive early bc the line can be around the building some days... though it does move fast. We ordered a few things and the dishes were big. We could have shared a lot of items. French toast was amazing, croissant with ham and cheese, we tried lots of different pastries. Ambiance was great they even have some couches for those that don't need tables. Highly recommended. I hope to come back soon.

Yelp
One of the best Mexican bakeries in the USA. La Panadería is a beloved San Antonio institution, baking an impressive variety of authentic yet elevated fresh breads and pastries. They are also a cafe, serving tortas, salads, breakfast, espresso drinks, and more. I stopped by at noon on a weekday, not expecting there to be a line, but alas, over 50 people waited ahead of me. It took about 30 minutes to make it inside and place my order. The staff were genuinely friendly and patient despite the chaos, and packed my pastries with care. All 6 of my selections were exceptional. The Pan De Muerto was subtly sweet with a bright orange zest flavor. The Croncha, a croissant/concha hybrid, combined the best aspects of both pastries. The chocolate chip cookies were crisp, and caramelized on the exterior. My favorite though, was the Tequila Tres Leches Croissant (aka CroLuna). The twice baked wonder was immaculately buttery and flaky, filled with a decadent almond tres leches cream. Though I could not detect any tequila flavor, every bite was memorable. An absolute must try in San Antonio.

Yelp
I came here twice on a single business trip. First morning I got an avocado toast, being from CA. It was super delicious. Topped with tomato, pickled onion, jalapeños and a sunny side up egg. The line was super long, but moved really fast. While in line I realized I needed to come back to get some pan dulces for the fam back home. The servers were real kind and helped me decide what to get. They kept the place very clean and accessible. The decor was beautiful with a lot of seating options inside and out.

Yelp
My friends and I stopped in here to grab some pastries and coffees for breakfast. There was a line out the door and alot of customers inside at the tables. I had heard about this place and was excited to try it. We got some iced oat milk lattes, hot coffee, monkey bread, concha, guava empanada, chocolate croissant, and some other pastries I can't remember exactly which though. To be honest, all of it was just okay. Nothing was amazing but nothing was really bad either. I think we just had some high expectations after hearing about this place and seeing the reviews online too. We didn't have any of the breakfast/lunch dishes though so I can't really add input on that. Maybe those are better? Service was really great though. The person who took our bakery order was patient and answered our questions regarding the pastries. The cashier was friendly as well and helped us get a carrier for our drinks. The cream was refilled promptly after an employee noticed I was trying to pour some out but it was running low.

Yelp
Breakfast or lunch at La Panadería is always a good idea! La Panadería has been one of my favorite restaurants in San Antonio for years. The quality of their pan and pastries is unbeatable, plus their tortas and salads are out of this world! If you are a tourist visiting San Antonio, you have to visit their downtown location. However, beware that they get super busy and might be lines out the door but they make sure to move everything quickly. My favorites from here are their chicken milanesa sandwich with telera bread and avocado. I also recommend their chicken milanesa salad in case you want something more light. All their pan is wonderful but my absolute favorite is their pan de muerto. However, I've tried many things from their menu and frankly, there hasn't been one single thing I do not like. Make sure to visit this amazing local business and see why they are one of the best in the city!
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
Delicious pastries and coffee. Line gets very long!! It also doesn't move that quickly so be prepared to wait. They are known for their tequila almond croissant - which was one of the best almond croissants I've had. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Karina M.

Yelp
Food was delicious! The owner apparently studied in France so a lot of the pastries and baked goods have the delicious crescent dough for traditional Mexican pastries. They also have plenty of seating and it's first come, first serve. The breakfast plates are delicious as well and massive. I ordered the egg whites and was surprised at how much food was brought out. Definitely recommend this place if you're in town!

Yelp
If you're on the hunt for an authentic bakery experience in San Antonio, look no further than La Panadería. This gem offers a delightful fusion of flavors with its long-cultured bread and vibrant atmosphere. During my visit, I indulged in the Fiesta Lobster Roll and the Tequila CroLuna French Toast, paired with a matcha latte and a mimosa. Each bite of the lobster roll was a burst of flavor--the sautéed lobster, butter, chipotle mayo, and fresh herbs, all perfectly complemented by the signature spiral croissant. The house salad on the side added a refreshing touch. The Tequila CroLuna French Toast was a delightful blend of tequila almond croissant, berries, and whipped cream--an absolute treat! The service was exceptional. Our waiter was incredibly kind and attentive, ensuring our experience was top-notch. The ambiance is reminiscent of a charming French bistro, with outdoor seating that welcomes your furry friends. Despite a long line, it moved quickly, and the wait was well worth it. La Panadería is a must-visit for anyone looking to savor delicious food, enjoy fantastic service, and soak in the brunch vibe. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu!

Yelp
Broadway location We would give 10 stars if we could! The food was amazing - we had the Alamo burger for lunch (and a couple sweet breads) and went back the next morning for the sunny side sandwich and more pastries! We even bought extra to give to our neighbor. The food is very fresh and made with care. The sandwich are huge! The concha pastries are like pillowy sweetness and the crackling on top is perfect and doesn't fall completely off with the first bite. The croissants are so buttery and elevate both the sweet and savory uses to the next level. The staff was probably some of the best we've encountered in a very long time. Very helpful, professional, Arlet talked to us for a little while was genuinely interested in where we are from. All of the staff were attentive to their customers and clearly tried to meet our needs before a need even arose. The staff was also very neat and well groomed - something that customers may not mention often but it makes a big difference in opinions of how a restaurant is run. The restaurant was impeccably clean. Hot water in the bathrooms which is almost unheard of nowadays. It will be a forever stop when in San Antonio from now on! Update: We purchased extra sweet pastries to bring home and freeze - they were still fresh and delicious when reheated.

Yelp
We wanted to try this popular bakery so badly but couldn't get past the 1 1/2 hour wait from opening to close. We walked by this Sunday morning and saw their to go cart right by the long line for everyone else going inside. The line for the cart was only about 20 minutes. I checked out the offerings and there was about 7 different pastries to choose from. Perfect solution to not waiting all morning to get inside. While we were in line (around 1030 am) my wife saw them refill the top with another batch of pastries. Then we got up to one person away from our turn. The prior three people ordered about 5 pastries each. The person in front of us also ordered quite a few and left only 4 items. I asked the employee if he was going to refill it again. He said no. I asked him again and explained we saw him refill it once. He simply said I'm not. No explanation and no customer service. So we left. What a bad business decision. They can sell more by simply having someone bring out trays to refill it and serve their customers. Even better is catching the customers that don't want to wait over an hour. Not a good customer service model.

Yelp
Reminds me of Porto's in Los Angeles. This Cuban restaurant is full of freshly baked goods, sandwiches and salads. The lines were long every time we passed by it during our trip. We went in on a Thursday morning 8 am and there was only 4 families in line. We ordered breakfast croissant sandwiches and a few pastries. I also tried their cold brew coffee which was ok. The food is average here so is the customer service. The ambiance is great, lots of indoor seating and very colorful interiors. Also I noticed they have a few locations throughout the city.

Yelp
La Panadería is an essential stop whenever I am in San Antonio. The pastry case always has incredible options. I had the french toast and a vanilla latte - it did not disappoint! The café has plenty of seating, and my order came out quickly. The workers are incredibly kind and efficient, making the experience even better. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This place has a comfortable ambiance and you don't have to wait in line for to go orders to long.

Yelp
Adding a little extra kick to the classic almond croissant! On our last day in San Antonio, one of our friends recommended this spot and i loveeed it! What we ordered: * tequiIa almond croissant * strawberry croissant * Carnitas torta * tequiIa butter steak and eggs Almond croissants are one of my favorite pastries and this particular one is high on my list for its buttery, flaky texture! All the food was yummy and I loved the carnitas torta - so flavorful! The steak and eggs were ok as was the soup it came with, but the other things were delicious. There was a line, but it moved quickly. Loved that this is super close to the San Antonio Riverwalk - which was maybe a block away.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food with generous portions and a good price point. I went and San Antonio and I was telling everyone about it. When I return, I will be sure to go by for at least a few times for different meals.

Yelp
This place is amazing! The food is sooo good and the concha's are HUGE. There's always a long line so I would go for brunch instead of breakfast. You order first then sit down. The decor is great I love the whole vibe.

Yelp
So much more than just a bakery! Their sandwiches and soups are fantastic. Service was great and the atmosphere was inviting. I will be back!

Yelp
There will be a line, but it moves relatively quickly. Physical menus are available if you walk in straight, by the pillar. You place an order at the register, pay, and they will provide a number for you to bring to a table or seating area. They will then bring you your order. Prior to arriving at the register, you will be asked if there are any pastries in particular that you'd like to order. Seating is cozy. In the hallway leading to the bathrooms, then is a mural of someone on a bike delivering bakery items. Their food is yummy and generously portioned. It's a bakery, and their baked items (such as bread and pastries) are nice. They have an expansive menu. That said, sometimes if you sit there, you might wonder why Navarro Street has pooling water even if it is not raining. The answer is that sometimes stinky water floods down from Peacock Alley. Once enough water pools, you'll be able to witness buses driving by, confidently displacing stenchful water from the road, into the air, and onto the sidewalk. So, when exiting on Navarro Street, and you notice water on the road, you should be cognizant that you may be a potential splash target.

Yelp
We just finished visiting the Alamo (oh my gosh, so much smaller than I always imagined!). The toddlers were hungry and the guys were acting like toddlers because they were hungry. We needed somewhere close, quick and child friendly. La Panaderia met all three. It was lunchtime and the place was packed. Since there were 8 of us, we decided to split up and find a table first. After looking for quite awhile, we noticed two tables looking like they were about to become available. One of the employees had noticed that we were looking as a group and, without a word, he swooped right in, cleaned the tables and pushed them together for us. He was an absolute angel. It was time to order. The menu was long as was the line. We just couldn't decide so I asked what the best seller was. The employee said his fave was the Al Pastor Torta and the almond croissant (no clue if that's what it's called but it had cream in it and slivered almonds on top). He didn't steer us wrong the fresh bread, the slight saltiness of the meat with the sweetness of the pineapple was an amazing combination. For our side, we could have chosen from a variety of soups and side salads or, like us, vegetable rice. Don't let the "vegetable" get you all excited - it was steamed rice with a handful of frozen mixed veggies mixed in. It was surprisingly good for how basic yet I should have opted for a side salad. As per our MO, we shared our lunch. I know I could have easily eaten a whole torta on my own and just split dessert. Although our lunch was delicious, I wish I would have grabbed a menu, stepped out of line and taken my time to see what other options I could have ordered. I'm not quite sure what everyone else got but the table was full of food and everyone seemed content. We were on the far end of the table with the grandbabies so couldn't hear the conversation taking place between our adult kids but I'm sure it went something like this: "did you hear what mom and dad did?" (Simultaneous eye rolls)..."OMG they never fail to amaze" (shaking heads in unison)...."When i get old like them, don't ever let me turn into them...." (Giant sighs all around)....and on and on. I should have just skipped the kids and went straight to grandkids - they're a lot nicer and a whole lot more fun!

Yelp
OMG... This Mexican inspired bakery/restaurant has it going on!!! Essentially I think it's like a diner but you order your food at the counter (if you can get passed the amazing concoction of delectable pastries and mini cakes) My sandwich was delicious but massive... only able to eat half...I actually managed to stay away from the pastries. All breads and there are many are made in house. So fresh, the smell hits you once you come through the front door. All the staff are efficient and super friendly, especially to those of us that have never been here before. The place is relaxing with massive windows around to look onto the street. if you are in San Antonio, do not miss this spot. They serve breakfast all day, along with lunch & brunch open from 0700-3

Yelp
You have to eat here! They usually have a line and close at 3. Service is good, you don't feel rushed while your ordering and trying to decide. Lots of unique items and pastries to choose from. We had pineapple pies. Husband had a egg Jalapeno sandwich on one of their delicious pastry buns. I ordered French toast that had berries and cream on top. This has pecans, raisins, cinnamon. I got a side of honey too. So good! Side of bacon too. Almost a dessert, so was glad I had a cup of coffee. This is on Houston Street close to Alamo, street level. Not sure about parking but walkable from alot of hotels and riverwalk. A must!

Yelp
Bustling and gorgeous cafe with carefully prepared pastries. While it's not inexpensive, it's still an excellent value for the price. Staff is very helpful. We had pastries and breakfast, and we dined in. You'll have to make several trips to try everything; start with the chocolate croissants!

Yelp
Aesthetically this cafe and the pastry case is very lovely, but the taste fell really short of expectations. We arrived around 9am on a Sunday and there was a small line inside at the counter but it moved quickly. By the time we left, the line was out the door. I would not wait in line for the breakfast we had. The hot coffee ($4) was weak and not particularly good. There are no thermoses to refill or self-serve while you wait for your food to come out. We got the scrambled eggs-your-way which came on the spiral croissant. For $13 it was edible, but not great. The ham was sliced thin like it came from shaved deli meat. The bean soup had large chunks of pork/bacon in it which were very tasty. We also got a chocolate croissant ($4.50) to go and it was also mediocre. Both pastries were very dense and chewy rather than flaky and the chocolate tasted like clumps of melted Hershey kisses.

Yelp
We came here on 02.17.24 with another couple for lunch - none of us had been here before. The line was long but moved quickly - whatever system they have, it works. The line was moving so well I wondered how rushed we would be after being seated. My woman ordered a Tres Leches croissant while in line by the pastries and breads. Once you clear that, you arrive at the register where your order is taken and you are given a number. My beautiful date opted for the Clásico Torta with a side of fideo, and I opted for the Vegetarian Torta (eggs added) and fideo. The girl at the register suggested getting the eggs a little runny so I asked for them over medium. The croissant was good, but my heart was in it for the torta. When our food arrived, we all went silent and I heard a lot of noises consistent with people enjoying their meals. I only encountered one problem when slicing my sandwich - hard bread and runny eggs do not pair up nicely for this task. My sandwich turned into a bit of a mess. The first half was that piece of food you can't put down once you pick it up or else, but damn, was it delicious! I loved the touch of the jalapeños. The second half I ate as an open face sandwich and just used a fork on what was between the bread. As for the fideo - I asked my woman not to compare theirs to the one I make at home, and thankfully she didn't. Theirs was good, and slightly different than any I have ever had because of their use of zucchini and carrots. I also had some of the Clásico my date ordered, and the taste was sensational! This place does a great job of combining traditional Mexican offerings with some local flair. Kielbasa sausage (lots of local German, Czech, and Polish heritage) in a Cuban sandwich? Nicely played, and something to be tried next time. For the quality of the food and the hospitality (we weren't rushed at all), five stars and then some! We can't wait to come back.

Yelp
This is a really great bakery near the Riverwalk. I saw the advertisements and I usually stay away from the super commercial places because they might be a tourist trap, but not this place. There's almost always a line and they have nice things like heaters outside if it's cold, and readily available menus. Everyone helps each other out here passing out menus, holding the door etc... I would say in general, the people are very cordial in San Antonio. So when you enter, you can see a TON of people ordering. There are so many choices that the line can slow down. In fact, they should have 2 registers going - one for people ordering to dine in and another for take out. There is a bewildering amount of pastries here. Warning, most of them will make crumbs! Some of them are topped with an awesome sugar "shell" and will make a mess. But it's darn good. There's a round pastry that everyone goes nuts over and it does taste great! There's literally everything here. Breakfast, brunch, champagne, orange juice, coffee. I noticed they give coffee out to the homeless which is a nice thing. The service is very efficient except for the backlog at the register - which is your typical "ask me for more tip" register. All in all, one of the best places here. One tip, it's easy to go overboard with the toppings/extras when getting the avocado bread. Everything they make is great here including the bread. Do not top it with too much stuff like I did. This is a top flight bakery and yes I did stuff some in my backpack for the flight home!!!!!
