This place had got a good mix of Latin dishes. Jibarito was good, as were the empanads. I'm sure I will be able to rate it higher after a return trip as there's plenty to try but only so much room from my appetite.

This place was horrible! I don’t understand all these five star reviews. I don’t know if these are people just happy to have a place to drink or they are friends of the owner or paid or what First of all the empanadas were extremely bad. The outside shell was very hard and there was zero flavoring on the inside. We tried the beef, the cheese and the chicken zero flavor there are better empanadas all over the city. The most shocking dish of the night was the Bunuelos! I am not exaggerating they smelled like manure! I dare any of you to go there and order one and take a smell. It literally smells like manure. I don’t know if it’s the oil they fried it in or the cheese they are using. It was disgusting. We actually had to give the plates back because it was ruining our appetite for everything else that was coming and smelling up our entire table. The arroz con pollo was bland and just OK. It wasn’t great. It wasn’t horrible. It was just standard dry chicken and rice. We ordered two huge Parrilla plates. The picada one was bad - every piece of meat or Chicharrón and plantain was very dry. Everything was bland with zero seasoning. I will say the chickens seemed to have some kind of seasoning or a little bit of sauce to it but everything else as you can see from the pictures had zero seasoning I will say the steak on the other platter the Bandeja Paisa was ok but again everything else in the plate served with absolute no seasoning no sauces nothing just plain white rice, and egg a piece of chichiron no seasoning no sauces nothing There wasn’t even basic salt and pepper on any of the tables and the only sauces they offer are a chimichurri sauce and a hot sauce which didn’t help. Honestly, this is why Colombian food has such a reputation of being bland. I guess I never understood why so many websites and blogs talk about Colombian cooking being so bland but this restaurant is the example of it so maybe I’m wrong and it’s supposed to be bland? Can someone please tell me we’re wrong about the smell of the banuelos?

We don’t live in the neighborhood but drove 30 min to check out this new Colombian place. (We love Colombian food). My husband had the sancocho de res and it was really good. I had lots of small dishes and they were all amazing: tostones con carne was my favorite. We also had: buñuelos, pandebono, empanadas de carne, arepa de choclo con queso y arepa con chorizo. Those dishes are perfect if you plan to drink. We had aguardiente and I had a margarita with passion fruit (excellent!). We are definitely coming back. Also, as other reviews mentioned: it is a very pleasant place and the a service is great.

Everything about this place earns 5 stars from me. My favorite Colombian restaurant in Chicago has new competition! First let’s discuss the food. Everything was brilliantly flavored. The yuca was perfectly salted. The meat was tender and perfectly executed. The plantanas maduras were sweet but not overwhelming. Our drinks were Colombian inspired and classic. Moving on. The decoration is simple yet elegant. The restrooms were clean and floral, if gendered. However, the LGBTQIA Pride flag on the door made us feel invited and welcomed. And the music is soft, low, and elegant. Prices were reasonable. I’ll definitely tell everyone about this place, and we will return soon with friends.

La Parilla just opened up down the street from us. What a treat! Food was delicious. We ordered the beef, chicken and cheese empanada appetizers. I had the salmon and my partner ordered the carne asada. We two rounds of cocktails and flan for dessert. The portions were sized well and priced well. They were also delicious. We’ll definitely be back and we highly recommend.

I feel very lucky to have this gem in my neighborhood! The staff and owners are friendly and attentive, the vibe is great and the food is simply delicious! I came for drinks for my birthday and had a great time. Today I came to eat for the first time and I tried the sampler plate to start. My favorites were the beef empanadas and the tequeños. The cachapa as a main dish was PERFECT and the jibarito was also fantastic. Can’t wait to visit again and try more things!

Google
I can’t say enough about La Parrilla . It was a really special experience, all our food was amazing and the service and dedication from the staff and owners truly made for a welcoming experience. We are very fortunate as neighbors to to have business owners making the investment in our neighborhood and bringing their columbian culture to the forefront. We look forward to their success.

Yelp
Was excited to try La Parrilla as it's just a short walk from my house. Had a wonderful dinner here tonight with two friends. I had arroz con pollo- very flavorful and hearty portion. Came with sweet plantains which complemented the dish perfectly. My friends each had a steak dish- with various sides (rice, potatoes, yucca I think). They ate everything, said it was quite good. Started with a mojito and arepas con queso and chorizo with arepa. I'm a fan of arepas and thought these were tasty. Loved the decor of the restaurant too! Friendly waitstaff. Didnt take photos because I was too quick to dive in and start eating!

Yelp
I saw this restaurant pop up recently in the neighborhood and decided to stop in. The decor is cute and displays the Colombian culture really tastefully. The staff was kind and informative on the menu options. I got the arroz pollo and it was pretty flavorful, I enjoyed the green sauce it came with a lot. The rice was a little undercooked, but other than that it was a pretty good experience. The drinks were really good! I had a passion fruit margarita and my friend a strawberry one, YUM. They have happy hour Thursday and Friday from 4-7PM, so I will be back soon!

Yelp
We arrived early for our 5:30 reservation but our table was ready and we were greeted warmly. We ordered the appetizer assortment (empanadas, chicharon, paletas de queso, and more). which was delicious and plenty for 3. Our drinks were a white wine, a mojito and a Colombian beer. All excellent. We shared one of the dinners for two - steak, chicken, salad, French fries, tiny potatoes - which was also plenty for 3. We enjoyed all of the four salsas accompanying our meal. Service was perfect and the ambience is Latin but not too loud. Our host suggested we try a special Colombian liquor (forgot name) and it was so smooth with hints of anise. We also shared a piece of flan which had an excellent texture. This place is a Jewel! Go there!

Yelp
