Complementary fresh tortilla chips and salsa with water fallowed by the giant chimichanga. We ordered beef and steak. “OMG this is so good” was the exact words my 15 yo used to describe it and it was exactly that good. Authentic and delicious

While the food was edible, it was immensely bland. This tasted akin to a teenager who had the munchies and whipped up a late night snack. I’ve had much worse Mexican food where it almost made me want to vomit. At least the food at La Parilla didn’t reach that point, if you want to even consider that a positive.

Love this place!!! I’ve eaten here a few times and it’s so good every time. The food is tasty, comforting, and always fresh tasting. Their salsa is delicious too! The man that takes our order is also so friendly and greets us like friends every time we come. All around a great place to eat and feel welcomed. Would recommend you to try!

Update: Still fantastic service and food. Absolutely the best Mexican place in the area. Salsa is homemade. Gorditas are not on the menu but they will make them for you.

Street tacos were amazing and flavorful, as a Texan visiting Illinois I did not expect to find such a good Mexican restaurant up north. It felt like I was in a taqueria back in south Texas on the border. Margaritas were amazing as well with friendly service.

This place always hits the spot. The menu is stacked. They have a cool bar inside. The food is always fresh and the guy who runs the place is super nice. If you’re looking for authentic mexican food, this is your spot. I get the chicken burrito all the time and it never fails.

Went to La Parrilla for dinner with family. It was our first time visiting this restaurant. Ordered veggie tacos, a grilled veggie fajitas and a couple of non-vegetarian burritos. The veggie fajita tasted as if it was steamed or stir fried from a bag of frozen mixed vegetables. It has carrots, cauliflower, broccoli among a few other veggies. Surprised to find such a combination of veggies without any salt, seasoning, spices or cheese. The only thing fresh was a grilled Jalapeno on the side. Tacos had the same veggies as the fajitas. The rest of the entrees were just ok, nothing to write home about. Not a place for vegetarian food.

La Parrilla is a hidden gem! Margaritas were delicious, guacamole was so creamy and flavorful, brisket burritos and enchiladas were 5 stars! Service was exceptional.

Just as wonderful two years later. We've been several times over the years and each time is great. The drinks / margaritas are large - the food is great - and the service is wonderful. It still feels like the owner / manager does everything - but you never feel like you have to wait for anything either. He's a one man show and hats off to him! Tried the Hawaiian torta and Smothered Burrito last time we were there and both excellent. When you get the intro chips - I would ask for the sauces in the bottle - instead of the salsa that comes standard. The bottle salsa is much spicier! This is a great find!

This soup!! INCREDIBLE!! Highly recommend if you feel like you're coming down with something or just need to warm up. Soooo good with all the toppings. Can't recommend this place enough. So. Good!!! Azteca tacos are also out of this world. Highly recommend for catering as well! 10/10!!

Best cheese enchiladas! The asada street tacos are excellent as well. I've been wanting to try the fajitas but then I get there and the enchiladas are calling my name.

Had never been to this little restaurant in a strip mall off Ogden, but they had some good food! We started with the "cheese dip" (queso): very thin and runny but yummy, with some tasty tortilla chips to go with. They also gave us several salsas. For my entree, I got chicken fajitas; never had fajitas with corn tortillas before, wish I had been given the choice of flour but otherwise they were good, and plenty of leftovers. My friend got huevos con chorizo (they have a little brunch menu with some egg options). I love that they had guava Jarritos, which can be difficult to find! Our waiter was very nice; at the time we went on a Saturday it was just us in the restaurant. Overall, a good choice for Mexican standards in Lisle.

This is a hidden gem of a restaurant. Everything we ate was flavorful and fresh. The service was friendly and accommodating and even though I don't live nearby I will definitely be back. My only critique would be their margaritas, I have worked in the liquor business so I know a great margarita but next visit I'll have a beer instead. La Parrilla is awesome.

Do NOT order the pastor tacos. Do NOT order the chicken tacos. The meat is dry and hard to chew. I told the owner that the pastor tacos are actually inedible. He wasn't very interested. There are many better places for tacos along Ogden Avenue. Do not waste your time and money here.

Upon entering. It was beautiful. We found this hidden gem on Google! So it was empty but the waiter was prepared! She immediately assisted us. The place was beautiful it was well decorated so of course I took photos! If you are ever in Chicago, you must try this hidden gem it does not fail! It was soooo good and you get full off of what you order. I got the entraña la parilla and still took food home! Well done!

Good food, good service, good people! The owner was so friendly and accommodating. Steak, chicken and al pastor tacos were all good. My favorite was the green salsa - so good! Give this place a try.

Love La Parilla!! The owner is always so welcoming and friendly. The food is the best mexican food ever tasted. The restaurant is so charming and always clean. So happy I can walk there anytime!! And, the margaritas are amazing!!!

A small cantina for drinks and tacos that are tiny as fuck. It has those tiny tacos you can eat in a few bites or less. La Parrilla is very authentic compared to most of these Mexican places but it's friendly to Americans it seems. Has good drinks like Mexican beer and pop to choose. The food is very cheap but not like it's the worst. Had a good date with some good Mexican drinks and food. It looks a little sketchy but it's clean enough to dine in. They have the favorite Mexican pop Jarritos. It's $2 a bottle. They also have beer but we didn't see this on the menu until after we were almost finished. Maybe next time but the food was average. We got the Vegetariano Tacos. It's $2.59 each. These come with cilantro and onions. Classic toppings and that's how they're authentic. This also comes with free chips and salsa which should be the case anyway like at any Mexican restaurant but I still appreciate it. Cool thing about this place is there's lots of authentic stuff but it could be better. It has margaritas too but we didn't know this until it was too late as it wasn't on the big menu over the counter. The tacos are okay but they're small and you have to order lots of these.

They start everyone with fresh made chips with salsa! Then I love their Steak torta with fresh avocado and finish up with churros! They are the best!

I hadn't been here for many years, but remembered their food was legit. I was Jonesing for Mexican food and checked out their website and reviews. Typically I'm a taco guy. It gives me a familiar way to measure against other places, but I wasn't in a taco mood. After reading the reviews I'd decided I needed to try the enchiladas with mole. Another review mentioned amazing tamales, and I hadn't had a tamale in ages. It only appeared on the menu as a dinner with 3. Figured they're probably small, and I was famished anyway. (Turns out they are pretty huge) The enchiladas elicited at least four "oh man!" as I scarfed them down. When I wanted a bit of heat, I dipped a forkful into the red salsa they included with the order. The mole sauce is outstanding! Similarly, the one tamale I tried elicited two "wow!". .Even the refried beans that came with the dinner tasted amazing. All in all this translated into a 5 star review. Oh, and my order was to go, but I live 5 minutes away. YMMV.

The flavor is good. It used to be way better when they were before inflation. Now they're just like Chipotle. They give you smaller portions of meat in the burrito and you get nothing more than just tortilla with very little meat and also they're expensive for what you get. One burrito costs $15 which you can get at a actual Mexican restaurant. This is just fast food Mexican

Their Facebook is super confusing because their website on Facebook is incorrect. It's for a different La Parrilla in a different state. The menu is completely different. I had the chicken tinga taco meal. Prices were reasonable. I didn't like the flavoring of the meat though. I also thought the rice and beans were bland.

Very good and authentic tacos. Portions are very generous and has amazing flavor. My go to are the chicken tacos or the carnita.

Ended up at this location after walking the Morton & Arboretum and working up quite the appetite. My friend really wanted tacos so we ended up here. This place is so unassuming at first glance so I thought they were closed. Also with mixed reviews I wasn't sure of what to expect. Food here turned out to be pretty tasty and authentic. There is indoor dining, but it is not a whole lot. Surprisingly, for a Saturday afternoon, it wasn't crowded which was good for us. Chips and Salsa were good, & the salsa had a nice kick to it which I loved. We both got steak tacos dinners which were fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. I feel this place could be hit or miss at times due to the staffing, it seemed to be only like two people working there. Although they did a good job for my visit. I would recommended to stop here to satisfy that Mexican food craving for sure. Good food, and good service.

The food was very good and authentic. My husband loved his steak and chorizo tacos. I loved my tamale, enchilada, and gordita. My strawberry daiquiri was delicious. Most food was moderately spicy, so something to be aware of. The ambiance of the restaurant is pretty chill, nothing fancy, but does the job. There was only one server, he seemed really busy. Would come back again. Food is excellent.

We decided to try La Parilla based on recommendations from friends. Really good service. The El pastor tacos were amazing, steak and chicken tinga tacos were filled with meat but just ok. We also got an asada burrito that was very disappointing... very mushy...it seemed as though liquid nacho cheese was used.

La Parrilla immensely lacks any kind of seasoning on their meat, it's ok for those who prefer that. Really bland food is a BIG turn off for me & La Parrilla even have Floutas on the menu but say that it's unavailable if you ask. I suggest Pepe's in Woodridge, IL and El Cortez in Orland Park, IL so those seeking good mexican seasoned food could have a place that actually does a decent job.

Seriously need some seasoning. Cheese dip is super bland and I ordered the enchiladas and they smelled very gross and I'm not a picky eater so I pushed through and took a bite and had to spit it out. Not good at all and bugs flying around inside

What a great find! The food is delish and very authentic. The portions are very good and they do not skimp on the meat! Our waiter was excellent, kind, and gracious. Nice and quiet with authentic Mexican music on low in the background so you can talk and actually hear yourself and others.

I can't say enough about La Parilla. My husband had food catered from here for my graduation party and all of our guests raved about it. We ordered the fajita group package and everything was outstanding. We've also eaten here a few times and the tacos are great also. Good service and great food.

We catered from La Parrilla for Christmas Eve & let me just tell you the food was fantastic & fairly priced! To our surprise they also threw in a bunch of Churros which was such a nice gesture! He included pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole, limes, 4 different salsas, plates, flatware & napkins. I don't know the manager/owner's name, but he was very accommodating & super friendly. I asked if he can throw in a grilled jalapeño for me. When I unpacked our food I noticed he threw in a whole container at no charge. This is the kind of business that deserves recognition! We will definitely continue to support this restaurant as much as possible! Thank you for providing us with a delicious dinner!

Great tacos! We live nearby and go here almost once a week.

One of my bf's and my favorite spots for a weeknight dinner! The restaurant has an interesting set-up with an ice cream shop at front and the dining area and bar in the other room. The staff is very friendly and provide quick service. For drink of choice, we usually go for a Golden Cadillac Margarita and a Patron Margarita. They come in large or jumbo sizes. Let's just say the large is plenty and there is no skimping out on the booze! Prior to the meal, the table is provided with endless chips and salsa. The salsa has a nice spicy kick. The menu has plenty of yummy tacos, fajitas and chimichangas as well as other Mexican fare to choose from. I usually order the chorizo burrito, which is packed with savory chorizo, veggies, beans and cheese. Very filling and satisfying! Keep in mind if you order a burrito, you would have to order sides separately. For me, the burrito is plenty for a dinner. I have also tried the steak chimichanga, which is also filling with plenty of meat, veggies and cheese. My bf has tried the chicken fajitas, which have been confirmed to be delicious, and is also a fan of the burrito selections. Goal for next time is to have room to try the desserts!

I went to go pay my bill with my debit card just as the power went out and the OWNER HAD THE NERVE TO GIVE ME ATTITUDE BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE CASH!!!! Mind you I'm a regular customer he said pay me next time. The next day I go to pay my bill he has the nerve to argue with me about the size Coke he thinks I had with my meal. I paid him and left. He doesn't seem to value loyal regular customers

Everyday excellent god for no frills! Summer eat out w pooch, none inside. Great ethnic ices and ice creams. Excellent food and casual prices. Looking for a quick bite and yummy treat afterward this is your take in winter and eat out ion summer place!

Definitely an interesting set up they have. It is very casual dining with a bar and wait...an ice cream shop? Yup. On the other side of the restaurant is an ice cream shop. We sat down to eat for lunch. There were a lot of dirty tables that remained dirty our entire meal. The chips and salsa was very good! The margarita I had was definitely not the best. Tasted very artificial. Wouldn't recommend it too much. I ordered a combo meal that came with one taco, one enchilada, and one tamal. The prices were really reasonable and cheap! I got an al pastor taco and that was very tasty! It had a generous portion of meat on it. The enchilada I had was a little spicy for my tasting. It had a lot of jalapeños in it. I asked for a side of mole and it definitely was not homemade or good at all. The tamal was homemade, but they mixed mine up with my friends. I asked for the red sauce one (a milder version). I got the green sauce one which was super spicy and I was unable to eat it. For somebody who likes hotter things, go with the green sauce. The red sauce one was good and in general the tamales were better than most, but unfortunately I was given the wrong kind. I would definitely recommend the tacos and tamales (as long as they do not mess up the order). We had two different servers, so maybe that is where the confusion came from. Definitely a place with potential, but not the best due to little mistakes. There are a ton of Mexican restaurants in this area, so competition is very high.

I walked in around 4:30 and the place was empty. About 10 minutes later there were about 4 tables being occupied. The horchata was not for me it was too thick. The tacos carne asada were not bad not great. I'm looking for some authentic steak tacos and have yet to find any near downers grove. The kind that have thin steak and melt in your mouth. True taco lovers know what I mean. The chicken torta was average. The enchiladas were a 10. Great service.The bathrooms were under construction and dirty, I actually walked out after seeing dirt everywhere. All the other tables had margaritas and seemed to be loving them. I wanted to love this place since it had great reviews but unfortunately it wasn't what I was looking for.

Service was good but the food was pure trash. I should've known when the the salsa had no taste. This place has a greasy feel. I don't know if I ordered the wrong item (enchiladas and a taco) but everything was bland and disgusting. People brought in their own drinks (i.e. huge Gatorade bottle and boba from next door). I was warned about Mexican food north of Oklahoma but didn't think too much about it. Now I understand. I just paid for my food and got out as quickly as possible. Almost threw up on the way to my car. That's how bad it was. Never ever coming back EVER!

This place blew me away with their complimentary salsa and chips. Their salsa has a great taste with a good heat that doesn't set your tongue on fire. Had their 3-taco dinner with assorted sauces which was fantastic. This place is very authentic, and worth more visits in the future.

This place is the real deal. Total hidden gem, hole-in-the-wall, authentic, and damn good. Located off of Ogden avenue, La Parrilla's presence is not visible from the street, as there is no signage other than a large decal on the door. It's in a tiny strip mall, which is slightly dilapidated, from the storefronts to the parking lot. La Parrilla is on the small side, with only four tables or so. For the most part it was clean, except for an empty coke bottle on one of the tables that hadn't been cleaned yet. The menu is all the standard Mexican fare you'd expect to find: tortas, burritos, taco, appetizers, dinner plates, desserts, etc. They even have hamburgers, chicken wings, and hot dogs. The hamburger comes with the standard fixins, but the hot dogs come with bacon, mayo, cheese, ketchup (eeek), and sliced jalapenos. After looking at the menu board I decided to deviate from the ol' standby (street style tacos) and go with a burrito instead, and a side of rice. The standard burrito comes with your choice of meat, rice, beans, cheese, grilled veggies, lettuce, sour cream, and pico de gallo. The wait for my food was about ten minutes, which was fair as their was an order ahead of me. I received my food and headed out to my car to dig in. The burrito was large and well made. It was sliced through the middle, which I appreciated because although a plastic knife was included in my order, it certainly wouldn't have been able to cut through this monstrosity. At first bite, I was pleased to taste all of the ingredients at once. Everything was fresh tasting and delicious. The al pastor was perfect in both flavor and texture. Not a bad thing could be said about this burrito. The rice was a bit bland, though. There were trace amount of peas, carrots, and corn; certainly not enough to be a deal breaker in my book. Not the best rice I've had but not the worst, either. I was provided with both the tomatillo salsa and the roja salsa; the lady didn't ask when I ordered but I'm glad both kinds were included. They were excellent in flavor; very fresh tasting and homemade. I used them on the rice to help give it some life. Service can be a bit slow, so you'll need some patience. I only encountered one employee; the lady who took my order and made my food. I came a bit before five o'clock, so I can only imagine how long the wait can be during lunch or dinner. For nine bucks and some change, I was very pleased with both the quality and quantity of the meal. Definitely grab a paper menu to order from. The menu board only displays a portion of what is available, and seems to be a bit outdated, pricing wise. I definitely look forward to trying their other menu items in the future.

The food is delicious. When visiting here you want to try the 'Carne Asada al Carbon'. The rest of their selections like the 'Tampiqueña' are also delicious.

They expanded the dining area and added a full bar. Chip great Salsa very good Guacamole excellent Tamales very spicy but good I tried 3 different tacos- all were piping hot and delicious. Fresh ingredients and cooked with pride. Very affordable pricing too. Must try!!

When my tastebuds crave Mexican food with flavor and a kick of wow, I stop at La Parrilla! LaParrilla is my favorite go to for Mexican food. I can't resist the enchiladas verde and tamales! There are still so many more food items on my list to try. I'm hooked on those for now! La Parrilla,is an easy place to miss if you are looking for a fancier setting. My advice, forget the fancy and treat your tastebuds! Service is good. Only wish the restaurant had better lighting. The restaurant does have a bar. The margaritas are good, served along with chips and flavorful salsa.The food is consistently terrific even when ordering take-out!

I ordered the Burritos de Carnitas with a fill of tomato, onion and cheese exclusively. Little did I know that I just experienced a new menu option, and probably a culinary first! All the "little meats" are served on the left side of the sliced burrito, and all the tomato, onion...while minus the cheese, on the right (except for one rogue morsel). My guess this is a family operation and I'm probably correct that they are trend setters!

Finding solid tacos is a challenge. I decided to try La Parrilla with a co worker for lunch and boy were we positively surprised! The tacos were good, generously portioned (meat wise) and they had a great lunch deal. I ordered two tacos accompanied by rice and beans, and of course an agua de jamaica. If I lived in the Lisle/Naperville area I'd definitely come back. The owners are very friendly and again the environment is simple and chill.

So this is my favorite place to go for Mexican food. It's not fancy or even convenient as I live about 30 minutes away... but it is so worth the trip. I find myself craving the chicken nachos and order ahead to take them home several times a month. On Wednesday night there are half price margaritas . I love to bring friends here and they are never disappointed. The owner is absolutely the nicest man and works hard to make sure you are happy and satisfied.

If you're a rice & beans lover, this is not the place for you. Rice & beans weren't anything special. Kinda of bland actually . But if you're a taco fanatic, you might enjoy this place a lot. The tacos are filled very generously with meat & bigger than the usual tacos I've had before . The meat is well cooked ' seasoned well. I had to give them a 3 though because the tacos weren't enough to make me want to come back.

Poor service. When I got here chips and salsa came, upon finishing the salsa I asked for more salsa, that took 10min. I ordered two hard shell tacos. When my tacos came, one of the taco shells were split in half. The cook or whoever put them on the plate propped the broken shell with a lime, so that it would appear normal. Dont waste your time here, they are incompetent of customer service.

I gave this place another shot. It is just ok. It is pretty decently priced ($6.79 for a three taco dinner). The beans aren't great and the tacos are a bit bland. I like their chips and salsa more than their entrees.

AMAZING food. I'm from SoCal and this is my first meal I've had in the Chicago area. The rice is delicious and so is my sope. 10/10!

Decent tacos. Its doesn't have that smokey taste like ZacaTacos but its still hot and good. Owner is pretty nice!

The selection isn't just your run of the mill options, but also has your standard favorites. PROS: gorditas! They aren't shy about the size of your horchata. CONS: Ambience isn't great OVERALL: good taste and portions for the price
