Coronavirus: the Best Ottawa Restaurants for Take-Out and Delivery | Eater Montreal

"These are anxiety-inducing times. Comfort yourself with a hulking pile of fries, curds, and gravy from Gatineau’s premier poutinerie. Burgers and steamés are on the menu too; delivery is available via Uber Eats." - Tim Forster

The Best Cheap Eats in Ottawa | Eater Montreal

"Various chip trucks around Ottawa offer serviceable poutines, but arguably the best in the area requires a provincial border crossing to the home province of the fries-curds-and-gravy dish. Expect a classic Québécois casse-croûte with squeaky cheese curds, fresh gravy that isn’t from a box, and piping hot fries." - Tim Forster

Google
Presentation was lacking; the pulled pork looked washed or previously frozen & I did not expect this format of smoked meat. Fries were freshly made in fresh oil, generous portions and lots of cheese curds! Where presentation lacked, flavour made up for it. Not the best poutine I've tried in Quebec but delicious nonetheless. 4/5 stars. Would likely return

Google
Poutine of my dreams. Perfect amount of everything, crunchy fries, loved it. The lady working the cash was also super nice, we almost ordered a familial for 2 people and she recommended we get a grande instead (and it was the right call), so big thank you to her. The hot dog was also good, but I'd go back for the poutine :)

Google
Raw burger 🍔 one more thing where is the beef.. they charge you an arm and leg for a burger that looks like it is on a mini bun and the meat doesn't pass the out side of the bun but all the other ingredients dose. Way to cheep on portion size for burgers. Save you money don't orders a burger the works they throw coleslaw no ketchup or mustard or onion. Fries look like some one mashed the shit out of it. Gravy or cheese is way to salty. So you be honest stop give top reviews where it is not a top place to eat. This fries are not fresh. Fresh fries don't turn to mush one Gravy is add. Ya if I could I give 0 stars on food i would . The only one who loved it was my 🐕

Google
The only thing I didn't like was the bread for the smoked meat sammy. Why not just use Rye? Or have an option? 5 stars anyways, because the meat is amazing. The poutine is what poutine should be. Staff are friendly and fun, so a grand merci to La Pataerie Hulloise!

Mike

Google
The food, the service and the overall interaction with staff is honestly amazing. They always take their time to figure out exactly what I want my order to be like. They never argue about any swaps or alterations. The food is always fresh and so tasty. BY FAR my favorite poutine. Thank you for the excellent service.

Google
Overall, a pretty decent poutine spot at a very fair price (about $8.50 for a medium size) The fries themselves were very well done. The gravy was also pretty good but I do feel it could have had just a little bit of a deeper, richer flavour. I would still consider this to be one of my favourites in the Ottawa/Gatineau region.

Google
This is not a smoked meat sandwich, no skills, no love, no passion. If you don't teach your employees or train them and inspire them to reach a certain standard of quality, don't expect them to deliver greatness. There are different grades of fast-food and this is the lowest denominator.

Miranda Batten

Google
We ordered 2 family sized poutines from here and they did t disappoint at all. They were over flowing with tones of cheese and gravy. The staff were amazing as we do not speak any French but they were able to help us. Highly recommend 👌

Yelp
Choix très varié de sauces. Le comfort food par excellence. Le service est excellent et qualité-prix imbattables. Au coeur du centre-ville très facile d'accès (deux stationnements). Ambiance parfaite pour redonner de l'énergie lors d'une journée de pluie.

Yelp
We were hungry after partaking in some outdoor yoga on the Que side! This place had great ratings apparently but I held off on looking it up, wanted it to be a surprise. A bit of a hole in the wall.. perfect. It wasn't too busy when we arrived but it sure got packed, quickly! Not a lot of space in there, only a few seats. The menu was easy to read, staff were curt and to the point. I grabbed a hotdog, loaded, to go and ordered a medium poutine, traditional of course. Made fresh to order, took a bit for the food to come out. Really good. I thought the cheese would have more squeak but no complaints on food. Fries were home cut, rich gravy, good ratio of all combined. The steamed hot dog later, hit the spot. Topped with coleslaw and mustard. Different! I'd go back if it wasn't lined up at the door (which happens) and would recommend for solid poutine/fries/dog.

Yelp
During my trip to Ottawa/Gatineau back in October, I had La Pataterie Hulloise on my list for the longest time! And I am glad I waited for it! Known for their classic poutine and their Italian poutine, the staff always ensures the humble but well executed flavours for every order! The fresh cheese curds work well with the piping hot homemade gravy on top of the fresh cut fried that are fried to order! The Italian Poutine is a nice change from the classic with the hearty meat marinara sauce being a nice surprise to pair well with the cheese curds. Overall, it is worth the visit if you are ever in the Ottawa Gatineau region!

Yelp
The hotdogs were undercooked. Fried not bad. The staff all seemedmisetable and cranky. No rush to return the place needs a good cleaning as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Very good poutine. Got the medium size and it was definitely enough. They make everything to order. The only downside is the line
google avatar

Rosemarie D.

Yelp
Not sure what people see in this place. Overly greasy food in my opinion and not tasty.
google avatar

Walter L.

Yelp
Wow, by the time we had our full I had gone back three times to get extra hamburgers and poutine. And this was after we said we were going to just try the place after an afternoon of Winterlude fun! Poutine was great, gravy was dark and tasty.
google avatar

Winnie Y.

Yelp
It was a really nice small ship. They are very generous for the portion - lots of cheese, lots of sauce, lots of fries. I would recommend people to come!

Cassandre T.

Yelp
google avatar

Yelp
Winter is the perfect time to check out their poutine! I have to agree with all the reviews on yelp about this place, the poutine was stunning. You don't even need to go too far from Ottawa to get this poutine. They cut their potatoes in house to ensure that the fries are as fresh as possible. The gravy is not overly thick or salty and paired really well with the slightly sweet fries. And of course, the St. Albert's curds, best combination ever for a classic poutine. They also serve hotdogs, burgers, and sandwiches if you want to make it a meal. I believe their current special is 2 hotdogs, 1 small fries, 1 drink for $8.

Michael H.

Yelp
30 minutes to het served and get food. Staff very slow... Then they want a tip before getting served. Nope

Kathy R.

Yelp
Delicious poutine and the Michigan Hot Dog was spicy and wonderful! We also enjoyed the bacon grilled cheese and cheeseburger. Great find- we'll be back!

Yelp
It was Friday night at about 9:30 and we weren't sure what to eat for dinner... But since we were just stepping into Gatineau, Quebec, I figured... why not search up a poutine place! We strolled in at just approximately 9:45PM, fingers crossed that they'd still take orders since they close at 10PM. Luckily we got there in time, placed an order for a regular classic Poutine, and it was fresh fresh fresh! I wish the gravy would have been hotter to melt the cheese curds, but the fries had good crisp, and the cheese curds were chewy. We also saw they had hot dogs for just over $2, so we got one as well, do note that they are a quite tiny! 2 bites and they're fully devoured. Quick service, friendly staff, great packaging. Would definitely come back again!

Yelp
BF: "Family sized poutine, please" Cashier: "It feeds 4-5" BF: "Yes, we're 4" We're 2. A 1'x1' styrofoam container is filled with poutine. The guy will then place it down to make more fries. For the next order? Nope. Another layer of fries is piled onto your already full container of poutine. The container's placed down once again to make more fries. You guessed it. Still for your order. The second layer of poutine is actually more than what was initially in the container. Get this order to go and it'll be packed in a plastic bag. The container doesn't actually close, it just gets tied together in the plastic bag. So, yes. A family sized poutine does very accurately feed 4-5. This was the biggest emotional roller coaster of a poutine ever - the fear, the excitement, the conflicting feelings of not being able to eat any more while shoveling another spoonful into your mouth because it's good. Definitely going back.

Yelp
Literally the best poutine I've ever had in the most unassuming location. Next time I will definitely get the beef gravy but I lovvvvved the chicken gravy. It's great that there are options and if I ate carbs on a regular basis and lived in the area I would be there ALL THE TIME.

Yelp
I came on a Sunday afternoon to fuel up before skating, and the place was packed! There was almost no parking, and the line was long (waited probably 10-15 minutes). Definitely a sign that they're popular! I got the regular poutine, medium size; this is perfect to share between two reasonably hungry people. If you're starving, a large between two people would be better. You can see the fries are freshly cut, and they use canola oil (no trans fats!) There's some seating, and the washroom was pretty clean. The fries themselves were really potato-ey, and mostly somewhat soft, although some were crispy, so a bit of poutine had soft and crispy fries. The gravy was thick, not too salty, and went really well with the fries. There was enough curds, although they weren't squeaky. Definitely hit the spot for a poutine craving! They also have lots of sides and hamburgers as well.
google avatar

Maria L.

Yelp
You know it's good when there's a line up out the door! La Pataterie Hulloise is a classic chip shop where you can watch the magic happen as the workers make fresh fries nonstop. We got the poutine and smoked sandwich combo, which was a pretty good amount to share. The sandwich was okay, but the star was the poutine - piping hot and covered in perfectly seasoned gravy and squeaky cheese curds. I wouldn't consider it cheap, but it's definitely affordable and well worth the price.
google avatar

Robin B.

Yelp
I wanted "real" poutine, and I received it in abundance! The service was friendly and fast! And, I could not believe the portion size for the price! Signed, A Louisianan in Quebec!

Laura S.

Yelp
You know a place is good when there is a line no matter what time of the day. After waiting in line for 20 minutes I realized this place only takes cash (BRING CASH) so we had to leave but came back later that day and the line was still just as long as the first time. It's worth the wait. The portions are huge and the Poutine the best I've had so far. This will be one of my first stops when I go back to Ottawa.
google avatar

Rasmus R.

Yelp
Came here for some poutine, and wasn't disappointed! Awesome experience for a foreigner, and spot seemed well visited and busy with locals! Fries were fresh cut and made, which I believe made the whole difference. Staff was extremely friendly too. Recommend highly!
google avatar

Kim D.

Yelp
My friends and I stopped in quickly for a poutine on the way back to Toronto, and instantly after taking the first bite I realized how fresh and squeaky the curds were!! I've never had such squeaky curds! The fries were perfectly crispy and gravy was rich! Definitely going to come back!
google avatar

Daisy Y.

Yelp
Is it fair to rate my first ever poutine in Quebec 5 stars? I mean, I haven't had anything authentic to compare it to, but if I had to dream up the perfect poutine, the poutine at La Pataterie would fit it to a tee. The fries are crisp, and fresh out of the fryer. The sauce is just the right texture - not too watery, not too thick, but still so rich and brimming with taste, and hot enough to melt those squeaky cheese curds into one big juicy, cheesy mess that your tastebuds will love you for. Just writing this review is making my mouth water... Small private parking lot out front. Cash and debit only.
google avatar

Mabel L.

Yelp
The poutine is good and so much better than what you get in Ontario and the rest of Canada. People in Quebec know their poutines! My only critique is the fries usually sit there for quite some time. Therefore they do not deep fry the fries to order. However, the gravy is very thick and tasty. My husband had the traditional Italian style gravy which is his childhood favorite. He did say it's an average poutine shop that you can get anywhere in Quebec but if you compare the poutine to Smoke's and other popular places in Ontario, the poutine is alot better at La Pataterie.

Yelp
I placed an order at La Pataterie Hulloise using UberEats. When I received my order, 4 out of 7 items in my order were missing. What was supposed to be 2 corn dogs, 1 BLT sandwich and fried pickles ended up being a series of totally random items that made no sense whatsoever and seemed like a really bad prank. I received 5 hot dogs, which I never ordered, 3 of which had only cheese in them, and 2 with literally nothing inside (no condiments of any sort, just a wiener and a bun). I received a "sandwich", if it could seriously be called this way, which consisted of 2 toasted slices of bread with 2 slices of tomato and lettuce in the middle (nothing else). And the last random item was a hamburger with no condiment either, just a patty and a bun, nothing else. When I called La Pataterie Hulloise to complain about half the items missing in my order, the girl that picked up the phone told me to handle the matter directly with UberEats, they would be the ones to resolve it with me. This made absolutely no sense at all, the order was placed in a paper bag, which was stapled closed, the Uber driver couldn't have touched the inside of the order. On top of that, the receipt, which contained a list of all the items I ordered, was stapled to the bag and there was no mistake on the receipt. The fault was entirely on La Pataterie Hulloise. From this point, the situation went completely out of hand. The employee over the phone started taking a condescending attitude with me, and literally said "I'd like to help you, but other than trying to do telepathy, I can't do much...", I answered her by saying it was clearly their mistake and it was to them to try to resolve it and not UberEats. She then proceeded to pretend the line was busy by imitating the sound of a busy signal with her voice, then hung up on me. I called a second time, asking her if she seriously pretended the line was suddenly busy by doing the sound with her voice, and she then decided to pretend that this was the very first time she talked to me and had no idea who I was. When I confronted her about it, she then said that I must have previously been talking with her twin sister and that must be the source of the confusion. Being fed up with her, I then asked to speak with a supervisor, she said there was none at the moment, so I asked to speak with the owner, and of course she said he wasn't there either, to call back tomorrow morning. From then, things just escalated further and she hung up on me again. So I called a third time, this time a guy picked up the phone. I asked to speak with a supervisor or the owner again, he said there wasn't one available at the moment. He then proceeded to make fun of me further, saying "So your BLT didn't have bacon in it? What are you complaining about? You had lettuce and tomato. And mayonnaise. You got the most important stuff in there." I was clearly hearing the other employees laughing in the back as he was telling me this. I know it may seem hard to believe, but this story is true... That did just happen to me on this Saturday night. I'm still flabbergasted to be quite honest. What kind of completely unprofessional establishment is La Pataterie Hulloise? The order I received didn't even seem like a real order. It didn't seem like a honest mistake of sending one order the items of another order. It literally feels like the employees of the place were bored tonight and decided to play a dumb prank on a customer. The owner of this place is as responsible for this debacle as their employees are, after all, they are the one that left the employees responsible for their business while they're not there. I had to throw the entire order, even though some items were correct, in fears of eating the cook's spit (or another type of bodily fluid). I always liked La Pataterie Hulloise, I thought their poutine was excellent, but needless to say, after this horrible experience, I'm never setting foot in this pitiful establishment ever again. I'm not interested in spending 40$ to be mocked by dumb kids bored on the job. That's just sad. You have to wonder how that place stayed open for so long when they literally bully your customers and mock them.

Yelp
Hoping they get back the rhythm soon. I know Covid has been tough. Lots of staff so I don't understand the cold fries, unmelted cheese. It was tasty, but it was cold.
google avatar

Hak T.

Yelp
All I got to say is if you get a chance to come here do so! The poutine was best I've experienced yet! When you do you will understand why I felt no need to write any more then I did.

Yelp
I actually have never heard about this place before, but my friends kept raving about how there's a famous poutine place around. I was in Quebec, so I really couldn't resist. I love cheese. When I first saw this place I thought it was kind of funny cause it's literally a little convenience store sized place. The store itself is about half kitchen and half sitting area so don't expect a giant cafeteria. When we ordered, the person that took our order actually told us to get the "Family sized" portion because there was 4 of us getting poutine. We agreed cause it ended up to be about 3.50 so that was a big win. When the poutine actually got here, holy crap I was shocked. I don't think you could have even closed the lid on the container. It was packed FULL off potatoes cheese and gravy. We split it up with the plates they gave us and dug in. The cheese curds are the first thing I noticed. They were super squeaky and delicious. Damn you frenchies and your good cheese. Second was the french fries. Personally I really liked them. They weren't really fries, but rather potatoes. The thing that made them different was the softness I guess. They weren't fried to the point of crispyness, but everything was nice and soft. Almost like homefries (the good kind, not the cut up square dice shaped kind). I think the fries really paired well with everything else and matched well. I really don't like when the fries act like daggers in poutine. This is definitely a hidden gem, and people that know definitely aren't shy about letting everyone know how good it is. Do yourself a favour and give this place a try.

Yelp
I am always on the hunt for good poutine and tried this place out after googling for 'the best poutine in Gatineau'. I wasn't disappointed. I ordered a medium poutine with added roast pork pieces, yummy! The first thing I noticed is that when preparing the poutine, they add curds half-way through the fries, than add more fries, top withies curds and then the delicious gravy. The result is that the curds halfway down have started to melt when you reach them and that is wonderful, the stringy, stretchy gooey-mess that is so true to Quenec poutine. The fries are ever-so-slightly sweet, which may sound weird but trust me, combined with the hot salty gravy and springy-curds they make an awesome taste explosion in your mouth. Great poutine!
google avatar

Erica T.

Yelp
Came here for lunch with some coworkers. Humble little spot with great poutine! Cheese was squeaky, gravy was tasty and fries thick. I personally prefer crispier fries but this was still a good meal! I was surprised the poutine was served in a more vertical cup, but I guess that's to cater for the customers that come in and go.
google avatar

Kristina L.

Yelp
A solid excellent "original" poutine! So glad I came here (from a. friend's rederral). I'll return on my next visit to Quebec.
google avatar

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
This place only takes cash or true debit cards. Debit cards from the US with a Visa or MasterCard logo may not work, ours didn't. There are some banks and 24/7 ATMS nearby to take our cash. The food is delicious. We ordered the family size poutine that was way bigger than expected. Burgers are great, the patty was very tender and juicy. We drove about 15 minutes to get home and the food was still warm. The staff is super friendly. This place gets packed, expect to wait but it's worth it.
google avatar

Wendy K.

Yelp
I'm from Montreal and I know my poutine. This is a good old fashion Pataterie and their poutine was fantastic!! Crispy outside & soft inside fresh cut fries, sauce that is hot enough to melt the cheese curds. Delicious!
google avatar

Diana H.

Yelp
Came on Saturday for a late lunch and this place was packed. A long line up wrapped around and waited about 30 minutes for a family size poutine. The portion size was HUGE. Share with three friends and we didn't even finish half. The gravy not too salty, the fries were not soggy and the ratio to cheese was perfect. The place was a bit sketchy and needs a good clean.

Olivier C.

Yelp
Their poutine is good, but I think it's a bit overrated. Their fries are greasy just like you would expect from a place like this, and have a great taste. Their burgers are okay, nothing exceptional, but the same you'll get at most casses-croûtes. Their hot dogs are over $2 for a steamé, so I expected a pretty decent frankfurter but I got something that looks like a cheap 99 cent 12-franks package, I was disappointed. Service is always super slow, when it's packed, when there is no one else, it always takes way longer than expected, and they always mess up orders and throw food out, perhaps there may be some improvements to be made there.
google avatar

Steve K.

Yelp
Burgers were fresh to death. Poutine was fantastic. Bonus for squeaky cheese curds! Limited seating space due to the long line of people. Unfortunate couldn't sit outside due to it being the middle of February. Well worth it.

Yelp
We were looking for a good place to have some poutine and found this place. The reviews were good in yelp, so of course we had to try this out for ourselves. Wow, this small fast food place is the bomb! We arrived at around 8:30pm and they closed at 9:00pm. The place was still quite busy taking orders, but most people ordered the food to go. We decided to stay and eat in. The menu was in French, which was expected since we were in Gatineau, Quebec. But the lady that was serving us knew English, so we were able to order exactly what we wanted after she explained all the various topping we could have. We decided on a large order of poutine with Montreal smoked meat topping. They made it right away, so the food was piping hot when we received it. It came in a huge container with lots of smoked meat on top. Enough to feed 2-3 people. We were hungry so the 2 of us were able to finish it all. The smoked meat was excellent, soft and tender with a strong smoked flavour. The fries were not as crispy as I would have liked it, but the gravy and cheese curds were also amazing. The fries also had a sweet taste to them which I liked. Fresh cut potatoes for sure. I haven't had poutine for a long time, so this yummy poutine really hit the spot. Two thumbs up. I definitely will go back and try other combinations.
google avatar

Xiong M.

Yelp
I went at lunch to try their poutine. The place was packed with the line almost out the door. Despite that, service was quite fast and I got my food in about 15 minutes. However, the service wasn't particularly friendly. My takeout bag sat on the counter for a minute before I decided to ask if it was mine. The cashier seemed annoyed by my question and replied in a slightly annoyed tone, but it's all good considering it's a fast food joint. The poutine, though, was delicious! Generous amounts of cheese curds throughout the container of poutine -- not just sitting on top like how many poutine places do it. Gravy is on point. I'll definitely be back to try their other menu items.
google avatar

Aaron M.

Yelp
Staff are friendly and accommodating. Food is excellent and fresh. Prices are decent for the amount you get. What more can you ask for? :)
google avatar

Alexandra P.

Yelp
The GREATEST hidden gem! I loveeee this place, it's super cute and only locals seem to know about it but their poutine and all dressed hot dogs are to die for! One of the best "caisse croutes" around. Definitely worth a try
google avatar

Andrea B.

Yelp
Oh man... I love me some poutine - but I don't indulge often. With that being said, when I get that craving I want something close to divine. La ePataterie nails it for me. Tons of delicious fresh curds, the perfect consistency of gravy and crispy fries. Simple, beautiful poutine. Try the hot dog as well - tastes reminiscent of Montreal dogs. Also - food is super cheap which makes me happy.
google avatar

Melina A.

Yelp
Coming from deep in the Quebec 'boonies', I've had my share of excellent greasy spoon fare, from a variety of exotic locations - a trailer 'beached' on the side of a backroad, a docked house boat and even a gutted school bus in a Zellers parking lot in Abitibi (Northern Qc). Poutine is a staple of Quebec culinary folklore, and these types of locations have always been associated with full poutine-satisfaction. Although la Pataterie Hulloise does not quite match the 'colour' of such places, it does hit the mark with its Poutine: fries have a hint of sweetness (the secret is using really old potatoes - a step further and you could make booze out of them), the gravy is dark and rich and the cheese curds are fresh and plentiful. The quintessential cure for a hangover - the deliciousness of the 'family size' poutine from la Pataterie Hulloise may clog your arteries but will definitely warm your soul. Yum!
google avatar

Erin K.

Yelp
This place is my favourite for poutine. The perfect sauce to fry ratio and huge portions. I have ordered some other sides on the occasion (fried zucchini, fried dill pickles) and they do not receive the same attention to detail. Stick to the poutine. Family from out is town insists on this poutine every visit!
google avatar

Beena W.

Yelp
I'm from New York, and I was only in Ottawa for 2 days. This was one of the stops that we made (based on Yelp reviews) and we didn't regret it. The fries and gravy are dark and sweet like the other reviews say, and the cheese curds are delicious! The whole combination is very comforting to eat. I wanted seconds but I restrained myself.
google avatar

Chris Y.

Yelp
It's just a small burger shack with hot dogs and fries/poutine. The portions are fairly large, and the prices are reasonable. It's about a million degrees inside the restaurant in the summertime - thank goodness for the picnic benches outside!
google avatar

Joanne J.

Yelp
Went on a cold weeknight during the winter. Ordered the regular poutine and smoked meat sandwich. The poutine was perfect for such a cold night! Very tasty! Fries were soft but thats how I like it. The smoked meat sandwich was a little small in portion, and I thought it was only alright.
google avatar

Heather M.

Yelp
I was having an insane craving for poutine and LA Pataterie Hulloise is pretty close to my house so I decided to give it a try. The reviews on here were pretty decent too and I was not disappointed! The portions were huge!! The fries were perfect and not salty which I love! The cheese curds were perfect and the gravy was delicious! I was very surprised by how much they pack into such a small container! I still have leftovers from yesterday! The staff were friendly and quick which I definitely appreciated! The parking lot is pretty small and a little torn up so be careful with your car. There is also street parking available near by. One thing to remember when visiting here though, is that they do not take credit cards! It is indicated on the Yelp reviews that they do, but they only take cash and debit cards!

Yelp
I'm pretty skeptical of places that claim to have amazing poutine. Certainly it's a tall order to live up to. I've been to my fair share of poutine joints and while some of them have been good, none can come close to the awesomeness that is Pataterie Hullouise. I actually stumbled on this little gem by accident. Got lost in Quebec trying to find my way back to Ottawa. Sitting in the parking lot I looked up a couple reviews and this place seemed to have gotten very good reviews. Alright. So I went in and tried. First off, as is the norm for Quebec, the entire menu on the wall was in French. Secondly, the staff spoke French. So I tried my best and said Bonjour! And then proceeded to order a large poutine. It's clear that my French is horrible so the nice girl behind the counter started speaking English and asked if it was for here or to go. Pretty standard. When the poutine was ready, a cook in the open kitchen placed it on the counter and announced something in French. The girl behind the counter either didn't hear it or didn't notice because it just sat at the counter. A nice gentlemen who was waiting for his poutine then told me that it was. Age poutine and he thought it was mine. I awkwardly grabbed it and went to sit outside. It amazes me how different the cultures are between two provinces. I love the French. And I wish I could speak it. If you travel to the smaller towns in Quebec, try to speak French whenever you can. Apparently you get better service. Anyway, to the poutine. AMAZING. The cheese curds actually squeaked. They squeaked! Cheese curds have never squeaked for me before and you know that you have quality cheese curds when they squeak! The gravy was heavenly and the fresh hand cut fries were to die for. A simple poutine that nearly brought me to foodie nirvana. Highly recommend. One thing I noticed above all the awesomeness was that the fries were kind of sweet. It was a nice sweetness, not sugary, but I hadn't had fries in a poutine before that were sweet. I attributed it to the freshness of the potatos that they hand cut in the kitchen. It must have been that. Either way some people seem to like it and others hate it. So be warned that there is a bit of sweetness to the fries but the gravy and cheese curds balance it nicely. Everything about this little restaurant screams delicious. If I'm ever in the area again, I'm going to make a trip her and order the family size one that is something like 1kg of poutine for 4 people and eat it all by myself GO HERE.

Yelp
Their poutines are SO good. You can get different meat put into it like pulled porc, hamburger meat, etc. They stack it do there is cheese, sauce, (and meat) in the middle as well on the top. A definitely must go if you're in the neighbourhood. I also had their hot dog and burger and very good too.

Yelp
In Ottawa for an event and craved poutine. Decided to drive to Quebec for the real stuff. Very happy to find this hidden gem on Yelp.
