The 20 Best Bakeries In Paris 2024

"Even though the chef-turned-TV personality behind this shop is a household name in France, this boulangerie-patisserie feels like a neighborhood spot in spirit. Swing by for some country loaves and at least one Equinoxe: a signature circular pastry filled with bourbon vanilla cream, caramel, and speculoos praline. And when it’s in season, don’t skip the chausson aux pommes: the crispy, candied outer layer and fruity purée interior will set the standard for anything apple you eat moving forward." - sara lieberman, emily monaco

The 12 Best Croissants In Paris

"This luxe pâtisserie’s pristine entremets may seem to outshine this almost-too-perfect croissant, but one whiff is all it takes to understand just how much of a butter bomb it is. Inside its tell-tale greasy bag, it’s got a shiny exterior that almost looks lacquered and at the base of the yellow crumb, a dense, stodgy line of pastry showcases just how intensely rich it is. It’s far from too sweet—instead, it’s majorly yeasty, with a lovely dense chew that makes up for its lack of flakage." - emily monaco

The Best Bakeries in Paris, According to a Local | Condé Nast Traveler

"With breads, chocolate, and pastries, La Pâtisserie has all of chef Cyril Lignac's signature creations. Though his chocolate shop La Chocolaterie is located across the street from this store, you can grab chocolate bars and a slice of chocolate marble cake right here. Otherwise, the focus is on bread—focaccia stuffed with sundried tomatoes, sourdoughs, baguettes, brioches—and pastries, including the Equinoxe, a futuristic-looking creation with a speculoos crust, a light vanilla bourbon cream, and a salted-butter caramel center." - Lindsey Tramuta

Omg! The croissants, pains au chocolat and pains au raisin are heavenly! Also bought the lemon tarts/cake for my boyfriend’s birthday and it was so good!!! Best patisserie in the neighbourhood!

Google
I tried the chausson aux pommes after reading other reviews. The pastry was flaky and appetizing but the filling was puree which I didn’t prefer as I don’t like the texture of apple sauce.

This place has a very very good croissant, one of the best in Paris!!! I visited this place two years after watching a video from Alex The French Guy on YouTube, really good video of Paris’ best croissants! Not only was the croissant but excellent, you must also try “Le Tigre” pastry, it was absolutely delicious!!!!

Google
Amazing tartes and breads, visually appealing store and super nice service. It's hard to choose among the beautiful tartes and desserts but the Entremets Cerise was artfully done and delicious the olive bread also very tasty.

La Pâtisserie Cyril Lignac exceeded all expectations during our visit! 🍰 From the delectable Le Tigre to the flaky croissant, indulgent chocolatine, and irresistible madeleine, every pastry we sampled was simply divine. 😍 It's no wonder this establishment boasts such high ratings – the quality and taste are truly exceptional! 🌟 Whether you're a local or a visitor, a trip to La Pâtisserie Cyril Lignac is an absolute must for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Google
My daughter's friend found this place near the hotel Elysees Union where we stayed for our trip in Paris. The pastries here are extremely tasty and the crusts are excellent. We had mostly croissants, chocolate and custard filled pastries. We had them practically every morning. The prices are quite reasonable.

Google
I had seen many reviews for this Pâtisserie and was a little skeptical thinking if it's just a hype. But definitely not! It maybe a little expensive considered to other places but it is a must try! Staff was also very friendly and explained the flavours of the cakes on display. I bought a cake for 6, which was their signature, must try cake and yes it was delicious! I was too tempted to try out the other mini versions as well and they were all really tasty. Must try in Paris! 👍

Google
A cosy feel to the well presented pastries of great quality. What a blast! What a taste and look. Nice, helpful staff. Visited early morning, was alone in the patisserie ♥️ la Tarte au citron was the best. Noisette is delicious , airy and chocolaty. Equinox is too creamy. Very good chouquettes 😋

Yelp
Great pastries, loved the croissants but the flan was ridiculous - great texture and crust. The shop is small and service is friendly

Yelp
I did a lot of research and had on my list to get the croissant from here since it seemed to be rated best croissant. I did. It was the worst croissant I've ever had. It was dry, over cooked, and hollow. How does that even happen? I don't waste food but I threw this thing out. I would have been embarrassed to give it out if I were them. The saving grace was the " Le Noisette! This thing was amazing and I have to have another one day!! The service was an attitude of annoyance and the ambiance was classy chic. Not the best but I would try more of their desserts despite this experience.

Yelp
Best croissants and pain au chocolat in Paris. Also tried the signature "Equinoxe"... The inside of the cake is filled with a light vanilla cream, in the center of which is a sauteed caramel. Definitely need to try.

Yelp
Friendly welcome! Nice help from the person behind the counter. And great selection of chocolate pastries. Merci!

Yelp
The best croissant in Paris! It was the perfect amount of buttery flakey crust! Came early in the morning on a Sunday. The city was still asleep. Will be back for trying more of the pastries. Maybe a baguette too.

Yelp
Okay, so yes this place is expensive and yes the people who work here can be rude but you have to admit, they sell really good stuff here. Everything is amazing fresh and consistent. They use high quality ingredients. Everything is also visually stunning. I've never had a bad purchase. From pastries to fresh lunch to bread to cakes...everything here is phenomenal. Not crazy sweet, everything is just right! But note that on Monday they don't have any breads!!! But you can still get your lunch fix, pastries, and cakes. I used to live right next door and I still go to school nearby so I come here at least three times a week. Their basic lunch set which comes with a sandwich or salad for 9.5€ is a deal because it comes with a cookie or chocolate croissant and a small drink. I've tried all three of their salads and they are all amazing. They each come with a different dressing so you really have to try all three salads. And as a small side, all salads come with a slice of their baguette!! But my favorite salad is the chicken and pasta one with peas. They serve you the food so don't make the mistake of grabbing for them because they are open access. They have a more expensive lunch option where you can substitute a small dessert for something more high end like their Eclairs. Their sandwiches on fresh baguette is so good. Holy cow. I've only tried the chicken one but it comes with boiled egg slices and I will even eat it when I don't like boiled eggs because it's that good. And it's big! So you really can't complain about how expensive it is. They have "chocolatines" for 1.4€ and they are the best pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant for all you Americans) I've ever had. They are buttery and flaky and the chocolate is great quality. Their chouquettes are the best I've ever had in the world and at 5 for 1.3€, it just hits the spot. Their chocolate and caramel cookies for 1.9€ is sublime and I could eat so so so many. Their breads are good and they come in many sizes so try them all! The cheese and sesame, the olive, the tomato olive cheese, the baguette cereals...omg!! Their individual cakes not only look amazing but they taste amazing too! Prices range between 5 and 6€ but again it is worth the money. The bigger cakes are great for events. If you're new here, try the equinox which is this delicious vanilla cream dessert that's light and fluffy. It's amazing. Although the employees aren't the friendliest, the food here makes it worth the emotional pain. They also take big bills which is convenient and there is always someone who can speak English if you need help. BUT SKIP THE ESPRESSO. It's overpriced and nothing too special. Card charges accepted for purchases over 10€+!

Yelp
Perhaps overpriced and certainly overhyped, this patisserie is located on rue Paul Bert, the restaurant row that kick started the resurgence of this part of the 11th Arrondissement. With vision beyond us normal folk, pioneers such as Bertrand Auboyneau and Cyril Lignac opened their restaurants in what was once the wilderness of the far reaches of Eastern Paris, Once success came, and tourists and lovers of food recognized the metro and RER can get you safely and quickly to almost anyplace within the environs of Paris, the neighborhood took off. There are countless boutiques, patisseries, boulangeries, charcuteries, choclotiers, wine bars, fromageries clustered about the southern part of the eleventh Arrondissement, and exciting new restaurants are opening up every day. It was where my apartment is, and real estate is suddenly rising astronomically. The city of Paris owes a medal to both Cyril Lignac and Bertrand Auboyneau. La Patisserie Cyril lignac is gorgeous and chic, with prices to match. Is it worth all the hype and expense? Well, it's always crowded with good looking people speaking French. Thus, I surmise they're locals who can buy their bread and pastries anywhere. I was the only ugly interloper in the place. Everything is delicious except the Flan, which was blah. The croissant was absolutely superior. Are the prices justified? You will have to see for yourself.

Yelp
I had such high hopes because i love cyril lignac! Sadly i was not impressed. My review is biased though because I had 4 viennoiseries - croissaint, brioche, baguette, pain au raisin - all of which were not good. (Brioche was crazy dry). The only reason I am not giving this place 1 star is because i think the other pastries deserve a try first. I did try a piece of one of the mousse chocolate cakes once and it was decent and not overpoweringly sweet (please keep in mind i am not the biggest fan of chocolate or mousse). I think people who give this place good reviews for the baked goods have never had good ones in their life. Probably all tourists. But hey I was also one of them when i first got to paris and thought EVERY croissant was the best one i have ever had. Anyway, the pastries honestly do not even look good and I will probably never come here to try them unless i was desperate and out of options. sorry cyril!

Yelp
Best chocolate croissant I've ever had! (Soft, not hard, chocolate, buttery, light and airy croissant)

Yelp
Review for the pain au chocolat only! It was pretty delicious with a very flaky exterior and a nice interior of chocolate and chewy dough, but it wasn't the best pain au chocolat I've tried. I prefer Du Pain et des Idees or Ble Sucre. But if you're in the neighborhood, this is definitely not a bad option!

Yelp
I went there to try out their famed croissant but ended up getting a bunch of other pastries as well, and it was definitely worth it!! It's a cute little shop on a quiet street. Their pastries look so beautiful! The croissant is so buttery and flakey on the outside and moist inside. Nothing was overdone to my taste. However their eclair was a bit odd tasting for some reason. Overall, a very good pâtisserie!

Yelp
Overall one of the best pastry shops in Paris. Cyril Liganc has created modern twists to Classic French desserts and made them even more amazing than they already were. My favorites are the raspberry tarte and the chocolate "Equater" ( that's probably the wrong name but it's a chocolatey Nirvana like tower looking thing). They also happen to have the best chocolate croissant ever. I would hike my Kilimanjaro for one. The choquettes are also very tasty and probably the best I have ever had also. For you salty lovers the olive bread is incomparable to any other olive bread out there. It's a bit pricey-er than your local boulangerie but it's worthy the extra. The service is great and the place is very chic.

Yelp
The best pain au chocolat I had during my week in Paris. The pastries were still warm when I came by around 9AM, and the pain was perfectly flaky with an even chocolate distribution. I stopped in my last day and only wish I had tried this place sooner. P.S. The morning cashier also spoke excellent English and was so polite!

Yelp
We came specifically for the croissants on our visit in March. The croissants were not extraordinary, though I recall them being very good. This was our first croissant of three on a Saturday and their croissants tied for second place with Boulangerie Pichard. Blé Sucré was our top choice this particular day. We will have to come back to La Pâtisserie Cyril Lignac on a future visit to make more specific notes and perhaps try some of their other beautiful offerings.

Yelp
Loved this bakery! Very cute shop around the corner where we stayed. All the pastries looked really good. I got a chocolate eclair with little gold flecks and a ham and cheese baguette sandwich. Both were extremely tasty! I knocked off one star since the baguette bread was really tough and the eclair while small was expensive. 5,50 euros.

Yelp
The pain au chocolat was amazing. This was my first time having one and I had to do it in Paris. I can never have it anywhere else now. I have been spoiled. The pastry was flaky and light and melts in your mouth. I tried to get as far as I could with French, but like always, my limits surfaced and she was nice enough to help with some English. Highly recommend

Yelp
This was my favorite pâtisserie...we also got croissants and baguettes here...YUM!

Paloma A.

Yelp
Delicious and unique pastries! The staff is also super friendly. There isn't a place to sit inside, so don't pick this as your dessert destination unless you want to take it to go. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Franchement cher mais franchement ouf.
