Perhaps overpriced and certainly overhyped, this patisserie is located on rue Paul Bert, the restaurant row that kick started the resurgence of this part of the 11th Arrondissement. With vision beyond us normal folk, pioneers such as Bertrand Auboyneau and Cyril Lignac opened their restaurants in what was once the wilderness of the far reaches of Eastern Paris, Once success came, and tourists and lovers of food recognized the metro and RER can get you safely and quickly to almost anyplace within the environs of Paris, the neighborhood took off. There are countless boutiques, patisseries, boulangeries, charcuteries, choclotiers, wine bars, fromageries clustered about the southern part of the eleventh Arrondissement, and exciting new restaurants are opening up every day. It was where my apartment is, and real estate is suddenly rising astronomically. The city of Paris owes a medal to both Cyril Lignac and Bertrand Auboyneau.
La Patisserie Cyril lignac is gorgeous and chic, with prices to match. Is it worth all the hype and expense? Well, it's always crowded with good looking people speaking French. Thus, I surmise they're locals who can buy their bread and pastries anywhere. I was the only ugly interloper in the place. Everything is delicious except the Flan, which was blah. The croissant was absolutely superior. Are the prices justified? You will have to see for yourself.
