It was our first time coming to this lovely Italian sandwich shop and we will definitely be back! We got the mortadella sandwich and the spicy chicken Caesar sandwich and both were phenomenal. Cannolis were delicious, as well. The guy working there was kind and funny and made our day! Highly recommend!!

Google
Daniel, the manager at La Pecora, is a legend. His claim? His sandwiches are made with "love and or hate" but are "the best you've ever had, lol." It's not just talk. The proof is in the food. Best focaccia anywhere. The muffuletta strikes a delicious balance of flavor and heat. You can taste the clear passion and personality. Daniel's hospitality is commendable. Believe the hype—get a sandwich here.

Google
Their food was so delicious and sandwich I had was very big, I felt full after eating the first half. People were so warn and friendly and I appreciate it. What you see in the photo is a veggie sandwich. --- Resturant had tables to sit and was clean, decore was good too, but I guess most of their costumers just grab and go! -- Price were very reasonable too.

Google
Everything screams Italy! 🇮🇹 From the door you can hear Italian songs from the old days, then you see right away some Pomodori Pelati cans and cannoli before getting to the espresso machine. The sandwiches are amazing and the staff is very welcoming. I took it to go but would definitely try to enjoy the food there if you have time.

Google
Great deli in the heart of Detroit. Small dining area with four tables. Delicious sandwiches and great service. Fresh ingredients on a wide variety of sandwiches and salads. I had a turkey sandwich that was excellent. My friend had an Italian sandwich that she loved. Everything else looked wonderful. I had been looking for a great new deli downtown and now I have found it. I look forward to working my way through its menu. You cannot go wrong here.

Google
Came here because it was close to our hotel. Server was awesome and helped us pick our sandwiches. Food was amazing. All good things with our experience.

Google
Nice Deli place hidden in Downtown Detroit. Their coffee was tasty and the atmosphere inside is cozy. The only thing though is that the server who took our order kind of rushed us into ordering without giving us the time to review their menu. There weren’t any other customers around or in line to begin with, so the rush was unnecessary.

Google
Love La Pecora Nera! Staff is super friendly, delivery for our catering was right on time, and food was fresh and delicious. Everything smelled so good upon arrival to the office. I love that the sandwiches were wrapped and labeled with the numbers - I could just print out the menu so people could reference which sandwich to choose. The meats, cheeses, dressings and veggies were very fresh, and the grilled sandwiches were still warm. I love the sundried tomatoes on the antipasti salad, and the guac for the chicken salad was freshly made. With a good variety of different sandwiches, everyone got to have something that they like, and they have 2 vegetarian options. You could also keep it easy and order all the same sandwiches. They also make great homemade cookies! Will for sure make this a frequent catering choice.

Yelp
I'd been looking forward to trying La Pecora Nera in downtown Detroit, drawn in by great reviews and enticing photos of their sandwiches. I came in with high expectations, but unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed with the cleanliness and overall environment. Upon entering, there was quite a bit of smoke in the air due to limited ventilation, so much so that I had to stand near the fan to feel comfortable. The cooking and dining areas could use a bit more attention to cleanliness, which was surprising. That said, there was only one person working, and he was genuinely putting in his best effort, handling everything on his own. I ordered Zack's Reuben, and while the sandwich itself was good, I found it hard to fully enjoy it with the conditions of the space on my mind. This spot has a lot of potential, and I'd love to come back once some updates have been made. With a few changes, La Pecora Nera could be a fantastic place for Detroit's sandwich lovers!
google avatar

Justin K.

Yelp
Food is great! But they HAVE to get the ventilation figured out as you leave smelling like an oil fryer. I noticed it's getting worse each time I go and it's to a point where I'll stop going unless I do take out only.

Yelp
Overall so cute in here!!! Outdoor space covered, chairs out on the sidewalk where the city trees provide some shade. Indoor seating available. The music is old school and I was greeted with a smile and when my food was ready, I am excited to eat; as it was made with love. The service was outstanding. I got the Michelangelo! It's a hot Sammy. Haven't tried it yet but I'll update. Priced decent. Offers breakfast, lunch and sides. I've posted the menu. Enjoy and give this place a try, Walking or street parking. No reservation needed.

Yelp
Was in town in November at the hotel David Whitney and stumbled upon La Pecora while looking for breakfast. Ordered the Detroiter which cane on an onion roll. Maybe the best breakfast sandwich I've had in years. Freshly made, perfectly toasted and I loved that the sandwich had some Veg in it. Took it to go. Chef behind the counter was courteous and it only took a few minutes.
google avatar

Katelyn S.

Yelp
This place is amazing! I ordered the corned beef sandwich and all of the ingredients were very fresh. The portion sizes are large and the service was quick. They have many different authentic Italian options on the menu. I will definitely be back to try more!
google avatar

Carla B.

Yelp
Hey Detroit you have a heck of a deli downtown! We went here yesterday and it was fantastic!! We split an Italiano sub and an antipasto salad, and finished with espressos and a cookie. Eat here! It deserves a try.
google avatar

Yelp
The only nice thing I can say about this place is the staff was friendly, but other than that, it was an inedible disappointment. The place was quite dirty, there were crumbs, used napkins, and food scraps all over the disarrayed tables, chairs, and floor. There was a bunch of empty boxes piled up in the middle of the room for some reason. The place wasn't very busy for lunch time on a Friday, which should have been my first clue, but the reviews seemed promising. Suffice it to say, Yelp steered me wrong this time. Despite my misgivings, I ordered some sandwiches to go as I was already there. But as I was waiting for them, I observed severed things that made me what to leave immediately. I don't like that you can't see what the staff is doing behind this tall counter, but I did see that one of the workers was slicing lettuce on a meat slicer to shred it, I assume, but he didn't bother to wash the lettuce before or after slicing, even though there was a sink right there. They came out of the produce bags, and right onto the slicer, and into a pretty tarnished, dingy looking metal hotel pan. I tried to convince myself he was going to wash the lettuce after shredding, but then he just sliced some deli meat on the same slicer right after, so what was the difference at the point? Then one of workers mentioned something about a problem with the bathroom, like someone stunk it up, and then another worker asked yet a third worker (the guy slicing the unwashed lettuce) if he bought the air freshener for the bathroom. And as appetizing as all that bathroom talk is, I knew as soon as they handed me those sandwiches, I was walking around the corner and tossing them in a garbage can. So I didn't eat a single bite of the food, nor would I ever go back. I feel bad leaving one star reviews, and I rarely do, but this one cannot be helped. I do not recommend. I'm

Yelp
You want to talk about a GREAT place!!! Today the town of Detroit is rockin with the Tigers in the playoffs game about to start and the Red Wings home opener. I wanted a sandwich from this place, because their food is fantastic! Parking was outrageous because of the two important games going on. I called to order, and because I couldn't find parking Corey ran the sandwich out to me and said "don't worry, on the house this time" Now that's excellent over and above fantastic customer care and service!!! And let me repeat this, the food here is fantastic!!! Best sandwiches in Detroit!!!

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! We were looking for a place to eat before a Lions game, and we were so pleasantly surprised! The service was fast and super friendly and accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious. My husband got a Reuben and I got a Reuben with turkey. The bread was fresh from the oven, the turkey was so tender, and the thousand island was homemade...outstanding!!! High recommend!
google avatar

Paula T.

Yelp
Food and good service and prices not bad. We all ordered from their breakfast menu. The hotel was quite expensive and we appreciated having the casual and less costly option.
google avatar

Darius Y.

Yelp
Turkey Bella was absolutely amazing! If you want a quality deli sandwich in the downtown area this is this place to go! Fresh ingredients, 10/10!
google avatar

BC C.

Yelp
Great sandwiches, the best I've had in a long time. Came in for a breakfast sandwich with seven others, they whipped it up quick. Absolutely fantastic, had to order a second sandwich to take home. Got the Reuben and the Papa Georgia - highly recommend! Brandon the GM is a great guy - between taking and making our orders he popped out to sit with us and chat for a bit. Thanks for the awesome meal!

Yelp
It is a new guy working there He was sweating and touching the register and other things with the same black gloves. That he came from preparing food with never switching the gloves after ringing me up. I ordered the Italiano for my boyfriend. His bread was wet and in the paper not cut. My sandwich I ate in the car I ordered the Napa Club.while trying to eat the sandwich it was so much avocado I had to wipe the bread on the paper. The garlic aioli was dropping out of the sandwich. It never like that I stay 35 minutes away. I did call the store and let the owner know. He has never made my sandwich like that EVER. I was so upset it seems like it would be a hit or miss now since you don't know who will be making the sandwich.
google avatar

Marielle M.

Yelp
Usually love this place, but probably won't be back. It's happened twice now that's I've come in and made eye contact with an employee and they pretend I'm not there.
google avatar

Shay g.

Yelp
Yall ima be fr this place changed me. Everything I've gotten from here has been unbelievably good to the point where I be moaning in public with every bite. The breakfast sandwiches are literally the best I've ever had & the veggie sandwich is the best veggie sandwich I've ever had at any restaurant. Long story short. If you don't here you're slacking and if you don't like this place, you just have bad taste !!!
google avatar

Jaewoo S.

Yelp
I had Italiano and my coworker had Roasted Beef. We switched half since the subs came out cut in half. Honestly, I was recommended Italiano by the cashier. It was good but Roasted Beef was super delicious. The meat was not dry at all and it was rare. Very soft. Next time I am here, definitely will get Roast Beef. But, the bread was really delicious, not the soft kind of baguette, but more on the hard side.
google avatar

Cam R.

Yelp
I'm glad I ventured out of the office the other day. I've been wanting to check this place out and I am so glad it did. A proper roasted vegetable sandwich. Delicious and from what I understand they just opened another one Farmington Hills.
google avatar

Dana A.

Yelp
While I appreciated the fresh mozzarella on the #15 papa georgio I was overall disappointed. Sandwich description stated "on grilled ciabatta" and my sandwich was just lukewarm (possibly nuked) no grill on the bread at all.
google avatar

Katy C.

Yelp
I found this spot on Yelp for a quick lunch before heading back home from Detroit. Unfortunately, I was hoping for better. La Pecora Nera was like a less fancy Jimmy John's. I ordered the Italiano to split with Nate, and honestly, Jimmy John's Italian is better. This sandwich has Genoa salami, ham off the bone, turkey breast, mortadella, spicy capicola, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and house Italian dressing. With those kinds of toppings I'd expect a super flavorful, savory sandwich. Somehow it really didn't have much flavor at all. It was pretty disappointing because I always love a good Italian sandwich. At $12+ I expected it to be pretty tasty. I also got a cup of the cream of mushroom soup, which tasted like hot half and half, with zero seasoning. It definitely needed a lot more salt. I could only eat a couple spoonfuls and had to toss it. The guys working were nice. There's a little outdoor space in front with a couple of tables and a little rail where we stood and shared our food. We loved the Uglies - great chips! The clean bathroom was appreciated.

Yelp
Was really excited to try this hidden gem...ordered three sandwiches to go ($53), took almost 30 minutes to make the food...got back to our hotel and the lettuce was BROWN on every sandwich...gross and rude! Huge disappointment...bread was dry, avocado missing from one of the sandwiches. Won't be back.

Margaret K.

Yelp
What a charming restaurant! The French music, decor and ambiance makes you feel like you are on vacation. This place is a GEM! The food was outstanding!! We ordered the MBLTA. Best one I have ever had. They cook the bacon fresh when you pace the order. It was crisp and tender. Everything was so fresh especially the bread. We also ordered the chicken Ceasar salad. I prefer romaine for a Ceasar salad, but it was still delicious. The service was awesome! It was busy, but we only waited no longer than 5 minutes for our food. They really are passionate about their food and service. We will definitely be back to try every other delight in this establishment!! You have to try this place!!!
google avatar

Aminah K.

Yelp
Amazing subs! Tried thr Turkey Bella and Roast Beef. The Turkey had this herb aioli which was incredible. The flavors were simple yet so tasty. The beef was pretty good but the bread was a little cold and hard. This is a great lunch spot. It is a bit pricey but the subs were pretty big and filling so felt like it was worth it. Would definitely come back.
google avatar

Shannah H.

Yelp
This was one of the more delightful sandwiches I've had in a long time. I'd add that a sandwich is enough for two meals. If we'd realized that when we went in we would have purchased enough chips for two meals. The chips by the way were delicious - Great Lakes Company. The shop is tucked away next to a residential building and is worth stopping in for a delicious and flavorful meal. (Meals)

Yelp
Great tasting and big deli sandwiches and soups for very fair prices. You will smell like the deli when you leave (think bacon).
google avatar

Jaime B.

Yelp
I work in the neighborhood so I get sandwiches and salads a few times each month from here. Everything is so delicious and fresh, I have never had a sandwich that I did not like. The staff are nice and the services is really quick, even during the lunch rush. Highly recommend checking out!
google avatar

Joseph F.

Yelp
Pricey but understandable given the location. Needs fountain soda options. Sandwiches start at $13.

Zanner C.

Yelp
The breakfast sandwiches are delicious! The new owner is so hospitable and the chef is amazing! I couldn't recommend this place enough.
google avatar

Kelly M.

Yelp
Yes! Why did I wait so long to visit?! I had the caprese and my husband had the turkey Bella. We swapped halves and both were so delicious. The sauce on the turkey is *chefs kiss*. The bread was warm and perfectly crispy/soft. Wonderful lunch place!!

Anthony B.

Yelp
One of my go-tos for breakfast/lunch in the area. I come through so frequently the staff knows my order by heart so service is usually very quick for me. My only gripe is that they run out of potatoes so they cant make the hash items on the menu sometimes. Other than that its a pretty nice environment.
google avatar

Madison D.

Yelp
Clean & good atmosphere on the inside. It's a bit hidden from the street but easy to find walking. They have breakfast and lunch Sammy's. I would definitely try this place again. The breakfast sandwich was good but I would return for lunch. Friendly staff as well.

Tracy M.

Yelp
The quality, quantity I and service is excellent. We've had the hamboni, Italiano, veggie, turkey Bella, papa Georgia, muffuletta and the tomato soup. Solid 100 on all! Place your order ahead if possible, small shop and they do get busy. Next up to try out the breakfast sandwiches. FYI Parking is metered and you may need to walk a bit from your spot.
google avatar

Christal P.

Yelp
This is a cute deli in downtown Detroit. A decent option for lunch if you are a worker in the area. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The service was good. My turkey sub was fine but overpriced. It came with lettuce, provolone, and garlic and herb aioli. I replaced tomatoes with cucumber. The taste was a little plain. I'm sure the meat here is gourmet which accounts for the high prices, but I would not pay $9.00 for this sub again.
google avatar

Carrie G.

Yelp
Came here and grabbed breakfast sandwiches before leaving Detroit and got a Groupon! It was a $10 Groupon that gave you any two sandwiches with a drink and bag of chips to go with both. Thought it was a pretty good deal. It was basically a one man show when we went. Staff member was very nice and was wearing a mask. They have indoor or outdoor seating available after you grab your sandwiches. We got the Detroiter which I thought was really good. The bread was nice and soft and the combination of flavors with the perfectly cooked egg and bacon was really good. My husband got the Italian breakfast reuben, which he thought was very good and solid too. We had to eat these on the go too while driving back to Chicago, and they still tasted so good even an hour or two into the ride. So I'm sure they would have been even better when fresh! Would have loved to try their other subs next time!
google avatar

Nate P.

Yelp
Got the roast beef, was not rare at all and the spinach was starting to wilt. Not worth the hype for me

Legacy M.

Yelp
#7 sandwich. it's just okay. wouldnt go out of my way to get it. coffee was cold. Maybe it wasn't their day.
google avatar

Aya L.

Yelp
Everyone I've met raves about this place so we finally gave it a shot. My husband loved it and since I don't eat any meat, I got a veggie sub and it was great. I first asked if there was any diary in the bread since I am allergic and the employee went above and beyond and called the delivery driver and bread company to find out if bread contains dairy. Most places will tell me they're not sure so don't take the risk, but I really appreciate it how they went above and beyond to ask - especially when the place was busy. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Janice O.

Yelp
I really want to like them. Have tried a few times. Our family all said the same thing... nothing memorable. Nothing bad but we also didn't rave. Ordered The Detroit, a bagel sandwich, breakfast burrito, tomato bisque. The soup was not great and lacked flavor and depth. Seemed like tomato sauce instead of bisque. I'll try it again because I love supporting local but it has to grab us soon.
google avatar

Yelp
As I sip the Barber's homebrewed amarone appreciating the decadent Chicken Parmigiano I just consumed, I couldn't help but think is this city back? A quick inhale/exhale made me remember how every pathetic attempt at being the next hip establishment to be talked about on the "gram" by those worthless souls that refer to themselves as "foodies" is closed daily until 4 pm . I don't blame the courageous entrepreneurs that pour their heart and souls into the establishment only to be wiped away by a plague because the "foodies" are too phony to frequent the establishments when they are working their indentured service some 80-90 hours a week for a Gilbert subsidiary from their closets. Let's get back on track. I swear after I took one bite I could hear Dominic Chianese singing in the distance somewhere in between Griswold and Cass but I cannot say precisely where. There is something to be said about an elite salumeria in an area that was once filled with elite businessmen and low-level overworked peons that never seem to question their employ because of scavenger hunts and the occasional pizza party, they always remember "its all about the team." That's right! makes perfect sense. Just as the snackguy for Section 32 of the United Center was just as valuable as the Worm in bringing home a ring in '97. I digress. This place has more potential than a 5th grader that just won the county science fair after his uncle repeatedly told him he would never amount to more than a sanitation worker. Constantly being beaten down only to emerge stronger than the pathetic sandwich chains that will not survive the next plague. If you want a quality sandwich take yourself to La Pecora Nera. I guarantee you'll feel at home when your sub is whipped up by a Furio Giunta lookalike. Not even kidding, Old Man Lorelli told me his vertigo kicked in when he took one bite of Mortadella triggering the solo from Layla to repeat in his head. Guy nearly passed out at his first floor shop. Word is the security crew looked at each other, shrugged and continued with their conversation; subconsciously, summer intern Steve learned the bystander effect that afternoon. Stay safe and give your money to La Pecora Nera. If you view yourself as a foodie, rethink everything you've done in life up to this very moment, and make serious changes.

Laura D.

Yelp
I had a breakfast sandwich it was wonderful. Hostess that took our order and delivered to our food was very nice. We will be back.

Yelp
Stopped in here on a lark while doing errands downtown. WOW! Why haven't I been in here before? Got the Italian Ruben...oh my goodness...amazing! I was going to eat half and save half for later--that didn't happen. Served warm, on crusty bread... can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Pablo M.

Yelp
This place is SUPER-EXTRA-GREAT!!!! And I'm not exaggerating. The quality of the sandwiches are absolutely stunning. Fist Class cold cuts and great ingredients. The mustard, the red cabbage slaw... EVERYTHING!!!! Very good and mad it with heart. I will come back any time that I'm around. Definitely g re at food.
google avatar

Andrew Y.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best sandwiches I've had. I got the roast beef. Everything was super fresh and simple and made to order. The ratio of meat & cheese to bread to vegetables to condiment (mayo) were perfect and the overall flavor was amazing. The kind of old school deli vibe and sandwiches wrapped in butcher paper are added bonuses. I look forward to going back and trying the other offerings!
google avatar

Erica C.

Yelp
Honestly confused by some of the other reviews. Got a recommendation to go here from my hairdresser so I thought it would be a quick grab for lunch. It was quick, not basic "like jimmy johns", and super good. I had the salami and am already craving it again. They also have deserts and various other sides / drinks. I can see this becoming a default lunch go to, and will be trying the breakfast & soups menus too.
google avatar

Lyndsey H.

Yelp
The Caprese sub + jalapeño chips + a Diet Coke...... 10/10 perfect lunch, can't go wrong
google avatar

Jon W.

Yelp
Every sandwich I've gotten here has been terrific, the meatball and Parm are great and sloppy, the Bella is delicious, the veggie is amazing, the Caprese, oh my god, to die for. The Detroiter breakfast sandwich, is also amazing, and makes me wish I started work later. The bread is delicious, soft and pillowy with just a tiny bit of a crunch, not some overgrown hotdog bun like those chains. Theres an option to get it toasted (which I would probably do at most sandwich places, cause it can mask some average bread) but here it's so fresh it's just not needed. The service is also top notch, they go above and beyond. On their website ordering thing, you can customize every sandwich and the options are pro level, if you are getting lunch with a picky eater, they will be able to eat and enjoy it. In other words, if you want a good sandwich, and you also want it fast, this is the place to go downtown!
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
I stopped by here for lunch and appreciated the quick and friendly service. The decorative twine tied around my to-go sandwich was a nice touch. I ordered the Turkey Bella, which was a solid, filling sandwich. I wanted to like this place more - it was cute and the vibe was nice, but the food was just okay. Decent, but not a place I would go out of my way to frequent. I might stop by for lunch another day and try something else, and it might make my lunch rotation, but for now, it's just okay.
google avatar

Lina P.

Yelp
One of my favorite lunch spots in Downtown Detroit. You really can't go wrong with any of the food. I am a creature of habit and can't resist the Turkey Bella. It's just a classic, great sandwich with the perfect balance of ingredients. I have also had the mushroom soup, chicken parm and meatball sub-- all amazing! My order is always made promptly and I appreciate how kind the service is!
google avatar

Tanya T.

Yelp
Cute little lunch spot right in the downtown area. A good assortment of classic sandwiches, fresh and simple. Perfect for on the go. Not much seating if you're with a big group.
