La Pergola Trattoria

Contrary to what all the negative reviews say we had a pleasant experience with the party of 12. Our servers retentive, appetizers were delivered extremely timely with the food following shortly after. The chicken piccata, shrimp, scampi, and the Una meatball were delicious. We will definitely be coming back next year.

Pizza is delicious, and the fries are good too. The pizza could use more flavor—the sauce is a little bland, but adding crushed pepper helps. The fries could use more of garlic-truffle seasoning. For $14 fries, there is not enough of the toppings (see photos). Note: service dogs are not allowed inside.

At first, I was a bit leery of dining here because of bad reviews on yelp but decided to give it a shot. Very pleased I did! Beautiful interior & exterior! I chose to sit outside because it was a beautiful day and the patio is stunning. Serene waterfall against the back wall was a really nice touch as well as the flowing drapes and nice marble table tops with very comfortable cushion seats. Nice quality paper napkins as well. My server was Donald and he was very, very attentive and knowledgeable. A nice affable gentleman. I started with a nice glass of red unshackled prisoner wine and it was just lovely. Nice and dry with some lovely tannins. I then had the steamed artichoke and it was the best I have ever had. The gremolata they pour over it was loaded in lovely fresh herbs and garlic , and the side serving sauce of lemon mayonnaise was out of this world. I had to take a little container of it home. And then I went on to the chicken piccata, but did not want the pasta as a bed so I chose the seasoned vegetables and they were lovely. I love garlic and everything had just a right amount of it! Chicken was tender. Even the little side insalata misto was perfection. Just the right amount of light zesty vinaigrette with some Kalamata olives and a lot of shaved Parmesan. Prices are not inexpensive, but you get some really flavorful tasty unctuous dishes with decent portions and a lovely atmosphere and fabulous service. So sometimes you get where you pay for. My only complaint is the 3% charge for using a credit card. I considered leaving my server 17% because of that but decided against it because he was wonderful. But come on! Highly recommend.

Horrible service and horrible food. Unfortunately, they automatically took the gratuity because of the party of 6. Server never came to follow up. We had to be getting up to ask the front desk for refills. Another table was sat all Caucasian and they had the best service and food delivered fast. We waited over an hour just to be seated then another hour for them to bring out a pizza. The server was very rude and had an attitude. Never again.

Their food selections are great.. Customer service is excellent. Restaurant has a nice ambiance.

Idk why this place only has 3.9 stars. Food was fantastic. Bread, Olive oil and balsamic are delicious. Shrimp scampi sauce is so light and fresh. Carpaccio is the best my sis has ever had. And the espresso and gelato are great. Also Donald was a super friendly and very informative server. Might come back tonight to eat again. A bit pricey, but that's Big Bear and it was all worth it! Also great selection of hot tea. And ours was over $100 with three people with three entrees, drinks and dessert.

While visiting the area myself & family from the area were fortunate to have the opportunity to visit this establishment . We were immediately greeted & welcomed by the amazing staff upon arrival. I had called ahead due to having a larger party (7 people), and they were happy to accommodate our party. In fact, they had our table ready upon arrival. I can't say enough of the fabulous experience our amazing experience our waitress provided us. As many realize in CA, good customer service is few and far between, so finding amazing customer service is a rarity. She was not just kind and patient with our larger party but knowledgeable about the establishment and knew the menu to a tee. Which I find is beyond helpful while on a first dining experience at a restaurant. Our waitress never let our drinks go dry and was there remarkably every time we needed anything.I can't say enough good about her and the personable dining experience she provided us. When our orders were brought to the table, they were wonderfully displayed and prepared. At a perfect temperature 🌡 and every bite was delicious 😋 Everyone in our party had a great time and experience. We couldn't help but check out eachothers meals as each was prepared beautifully. Wish I could remember our dear waitresses' name to give her a shout-out! Sorry! If in the area, definitely give this establishment a visit. A must visit dining experience for this area as options of this type are limited.

The food and service were amazing! I celebrated my birthday dinner here, and everything was absolutely delicious. This was my second time dining here, and you truly can’t go wrong with any dish. The service was fantastic once again. I had the carrot cake for my birthday, and it was the best I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Wow wow wow wow what a delicious experience! My mother and I were there for Mother's Day weekend and we had the most delicious soup calamari, and shrimp scampi. The most amazing meal we didn't feel belated at the end. It tasted so homemade. Compliments to the chef!!!!!! the decor and bright lighting from the sunlight is just so lovely . We had a wonderful time, it's my third time dining at Pergola and it gets better every time! Cocktails are also delicious on a date night or ladies trip. They have a gorgeous outdoor seating area with fire pits along with a cafe inside. A small taste of Italy in the heart of Big Bear Village!

The ambiance here was very pretty & is a very popular spot! We walked in & had a wait time of about an hour and a half, I recommend getting a reservation if possible! There is a cafe right inside next to the restaurant as well to help make the time go by faster. Cafe latte 6/10: the latte tasted like watered down coffee. Garlic cheese bread 8/10: very crunch, but very tasty! Wish the restaurant served bread, that's always the best part! I would recommend this as an appetizer Alfredo di verde 8/10: very tasty! I enjoyed the flavor and spices used in this dish. The noodles were cooked all the way through Philly cheese steak panini 8/10: the panini was actually very tasty as well! There was not too much cheese, but the right amount & the bread wasn't falling apart when eating Chicken Parmesan 9/10: the chicken was not dry & coated nicely! The chicken was juicy Overall, this place is a very nice restaurant! The food wasn't too bad & they can accommodate for larger parties if needed. Romantic little spot with many shops around.

We called to try to order takeout, and were told "We only do takeout orders in person." Already a super lame policy, but our husbands got in the car and drove all the way there, because we all really wanted pasta. Only AFTER they drove there did the restaurant bother to tell them they don't do any pasta dishes for takeout. WTF?! They allow appetizers and pizza to go, but they can't put the pasta in the same to-go boxes? I would give NEGATIVE 3 stars if I could. Trash service, terrible policies.

pizza was not good . the calamari was worse! tiny calamari's were buried under the chunky breading. it has good location and listen good music. l wished to not feel guilty about spending bunch of money for the bad food. I went through the reviews for this place to make sure I was not offended their behaviors towards us! oh yeah I was not the only one feel that like that. Definitely racism is there. pathetic.

Came here last night for dinner... we ordered the breaded mozzarella sticks. They were mediocre at best, seemed to be just like frozen sticks. So we were a bit nervous for the rest of the food. We ordered pepperoni pizza and fettuccine Alfredo. Both were delicious. The crust of the pizza was so good and the noodles were cooked perfectly and the sauce was great! We ended our night with carrot cake and some lattes. Cheyenne was our waitress and was amazing. We sat next to the window and it was a little cold, had to keep our coats on, but besides that it was a great night! Will definitely be back and will bring family when we visit again!

Cute restaurant in the heart of the Village. Menu offering is good but a bit pricey. Ordered a Cesar salad, Margherita pizza and a prosciutto panini. The salad was tasty, fresh and crispy. The pizza took a long time and the crust was a bit undercooked. The panini never made it to us; it was delivered to wrong table and we'd already waited over 45 minutes for food so we canceled it because we didn't want to wait any longer. Overall, the food ingredients and quality were good, but the long wait for food and the order mixup made the experience less than enjoyable.

Great food, excellent service, we will go back the next time we are in Big Bear. The inside has been remodeled and it looks fantastic.

Our group was walking around this cute area and got hungry. My friend and I checked out the menu and put our name down. The wait wasn't too bad- about 20 minutes are so. There is a cute little market to check with Italian goodies while you're waiting. We ordered the funghi pizza, carciofo spinachi, pappardelle bolognese, di verde alfredo, capellini al pomodoro, and shrimp scampi. Everything was presented nicely and the portions were great for sharing. The carcio spinachi was yummy! We ordered two! I personally had the shrimp scampi, which was great! The shrimp was jumbo-sized and was sauteed with lots of butter! I liked the noodles as well. A couple of people ordered the Sophia Loren and a Tiramisu martini. They were really strong! Service was nice and accomodating. La Pergola is a great place to get some Italian food in the area!

Not sure how this place has 3 stars, the food is phenomenal and the service was excellent during our visit. This is one of our top coffee spots in the area as well. They are also very dog friendly!

Food and service was wonderful. Bergamot spritz was unusual and delicious. Pizza was cooked to perfection. We will be back.

I enjoyed our meal . I ordered two of their unique sangrias and enjoys them both. Shrimp scampi was delicious and the pizza was also very good. We went in a Monday so it wasn't busy and I love not having to wait for a table.

Horrible experience! Racist unprofessional, from the Host thro the management!!! Didn't even great for 20 min ! Fine din in!! Really you are worst than MC !!! I'm sorry for your owner !

No stars deserved! We came to Big Bear with my aunt who is visiting from Mexico. The blonde young lady at the front first told us they would accommodate us and that we could leave our fur babies on the patio. Once we waited thirty minutes for our table our waitress immediately was rude and denied us service. Another woman appeared with Hawaiian flowers in her hair and claimed she was the owner. Together, they humiliated us denied us service because we expressed that we were feeling discriminated against. We attempted to explain that my elderly aunt needed to eat because of her diabetes. The woman said we would not be served because we expressed that we felt discriminated against and felt they were racist. I wish Yelp had an option for no/negative stars for occasions such as this.

We started out with the buratta appetizer that was delicious and a good portion for 2. Then, I got the pomodoro pasta dish. The host at the front was very kind and the whole experience was seamless. I also loved the large windows that make the space feel much bigger than it is. If you're not from here, like myself, and looking for a place to eat I recommend.

Very long wait to be served and for the food to come. It took an hour to be seated. Thirty minutes for entrees to arrive. The pasta for the shrimp scampi came out too hard and ch. The shrimp felt under cooked. The lasagna was ok. Some bites were cheesy and good while other bites just tasted of garlic. The environment is cute.

We went on a Saturday around dinner time, it was relatively busy and had a bit of a wait but the ambiance was great. They had a coffee bar and also sold pastries which looked delicious. We tried the carrot cake (it was pricey- $14) but so good and we agreed we'd pay again next time. For dinner (our party was 9 people) and we had pizzas- all were so good, the dough was really fresh and light! The meatball minestrone was so good I instantly looked up recipes online to try and recreate it at home. We also had the seasonal ravioli- butternut squash was delicious!!! Earthy, hearty and full of flavor! Our waitress was Tina (I think) and she was great, answering our questions and providing recommendations when asked.

The ambiance is nice, the staff is friendly, and the food is yummy but they refuse to take to-go orders over the phone, you have to order in person and sit and wait. And they only allow pizza, salads, and appetizers to-go, you can't order main dishes or pasta (I'm curious of you dine in if they will allow you to take your left overs or if they refuse to box it?) also their hours are inconsistent and incorrect online, the first time I attempted to dine in they were closed for "seasonal hours" even though online showed they were open.

1st thing I noticed on the menu was the 3% credit card fee, so just a heads up for everyone. I had the calamari, Stracotto di Manzo with the salad and a hot toddy. The hot toddy is perfect on a cold day and it helped warm me up. For the appetizer, the calamari was good, but then again it taste like anyplace that usually makes calamari. They didn't put enough sauce on the salad so it was bland. The Stracoto di Manzo had tender meat pieces, but flavor was okay. I didn't expect much, since it wasn't packed here (our 1st choice was Oakside). I probably wouldn't come here again (we preferred the other Italian place).

I want to start this by saying that we called the restaurant before leaving at 5 pm because we had a party of 8, they said they had no wait and we headed over. By the time we go there they said it would be about an hour, or "maybe sooner." So, already a little disappointed, we walked around the area and came back about 45 minutes later. We were then told that it would be another hour...then another half an hour. At one point we offered to separate our party into two, but they said it wouldn't make a difference. The food was mediocre and way too expensive for what you get. By the time we were seated at 7:30 they were out of Lasagna, Stracotto di Manzo, and ALL pizzas were sold out. The people there were super nice, but I wish they had been upfront with us and said that it was going to be a 2.5 hour wait. We would have chosen to go home or find a new place. They also charge 3% for using your card, so if you want to avoid the fee, bring cash, even a debit card gets a fee. Mozzerella sticks Bruscetta Fettucini Alfredo Alfredo Verde Minestrone Chicken Parm but NOT worth $30 Shrimp also NOT worth $16 kids dishes were $9. For butter and noodles... 1 fist sized meatball was $8. If you have a large group, they likely will not be prepared, as they only have 2 family sized tables.

5 star place!!! We are from LOS ANGELES and come out to big bear often this is our first time here and wow how amazing!! Our server Savannah was amazing I want her service everytime im here! The environment is so cozy and warm and peaceful! The food is AMAZING!!! 10/10 recommend for families, date nights and more

Randomly decided to revisit this one. I'm not sure if they were just swamped last time or if Courtney is just an excellent server. I had a terrible experience the first time I visited this place. But, Courtney introduced herself right away, and was very charming. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan with a glass of the recommended Merlot, which paired nicely. Because I enjoyed the service I decided to try the Pistachio Gelato, and paired with the Merlot, was intriguingly tasty. If Courtney is the example of their typical service, than I'd say it's worth the longer wait times. Might try the Stracotto next time.

Probably the best pasta in Big Bear. Wish they had more vegan and salad options. Service could also be improved. They also have coffee which I haven't tried.

New dessert : Cookies Skillet- this is insanely delicious. We must come here every time we visit Big Bear.

The food here is SO good! I think a literal tear of joy may have come to my eye! By far the best food in town, and generous portions. Service was perfect, staff was friendly & attentive, and the restaurant was clean and beautiful with nice lighting and Ambience. I can't wait to try more from the menu when we visit next! My husband had the chicken piccatta and I had the Alfredo Di Verde.

This place is an absolute charm! The staff is amazing. We came in a big group without reservation and they accommodated us on this amazing family sized table. The food was spectacular! You can taste the homemade and fresh ingredients. We'll absolutely be back!

Lacy the manager was not accommodating to our party of 5, sitting us at a table meant for 4. Initially we were told the wait would be 20-30 minutes but she had us wait 1 hour until the family sitting at the table for 4 were finished,even though they had empty tables for 6. It seemed like we were being discriminated against because of our service animal. Angie the hostess told us that if our service animal barked we would be fined $1000.

BEST ITALIAN FOOD in Big Bear!!! Christina was my amazing server! She helped me pick my new FAVORITE pizza EVER!! The Funghi! Service was amazing! I am still dreaming of that meal!

Definitely a delicious little Italian restaurant, we got amazing service! As soon as we arrived we felt welcomed and the ambiance was just chefs kiss even with a 2 yr old. The wine recommendation was perfect. Overall we had an amazing time here.

This place is so badly managed. Waited over 10 minutes for a table when the place had more empty tables than seated ones. There was another couple ahead of us that were standing there when we got in. Despite the many employees that walked past the counter, not one acknowledged our presence. Finally, a girl with a towel over her arm and handful of dishes in the other, acknowledged the couple in front of us and said their table was ready. Evidently the hostess had to bus the table. Some of the people behind the counter appeared not to be doing anything. So, more waiting until the hostess got to us. The chicken piccata meal was overpriced for being bland and mediocre. The salad that came with the meal was a small portion of lettuce with a parsimonious addition of cherry tomato and olive. Our bill was over a hundred for two people with no alcohol ordered. The only reason for not giving one star was our waitress, she was a shining star herself that bumped this review to two stars. I wish I remembered her name. She was so friendly, attentive and helpful. Even she would not be reason enough to return here. A number of years ago this place was a nice family Italian restaurant we used to visit every time we came to Big Bear. Now its a pretentious, over priced, badly managed waste of time and money. Recommend Pepper Corn Grille down the street.

What a surprise! Big Bear Lake is an incredibly challenging market for those in the restaurant industry. When a long standing Italian restaurant (Paoil's) vacated this building years ago and another Italian restaurant (La Pergola) moved into the same space I thought that it was a bad idea and the new place was doomed to die as well. We shied away until this last week. What a mistake.... We should have come by sooner. The interior has been extensively remodeled and is super inviting with a warm Italian countryside vibe, there is a cozy new patio overlooking the "downtown" and live music the night of our visit. The staff was super welcoming, professional and enjoyable. The menu fare is extensive, with authentic Italian menu items and a somewhat sophisticated feel. The food, from the soup, the bread basket, the entrees and desserts were all exceptional. Each person in our party independently raved about their meals and we will be back. Priced fairly. Don't miss trying La Pergola if you are in town.

So far have have loved all four visits. Incredible food and incredible service. Hello Zonia is fantastic. The pizzas are incredible and their wine selection is great.

While the atmosphere is great, the food was very disappointing. Our dinners were very heavily over-salted and the noddles were undercooked. We definitely did not feel that the meals warranted the high price tags.

Excellent food, better than a higher rated restaurant we went to for lunch. Service was excellent as well! We got mulled wine, multiple craft cocktails, panini, pasta and house made carrot cake. All of which was excellent, nothing negative to say there. On our way out we got hot chocolates which was good along with the service from the lady behind the counter.

I had a wonderful experience here. Came here Thanksgiving weekend so you can imagine they surely were busy. We were quoted 2.5 hour wait. Honestly, we didn't mind because my heart was dead set on eating here. It was a bit chilly outside but we didn't mind waiting outside on there beautiful patio. They have a big fire going and with all the holiday lights it was magical. We ordered some yummy raspberry lemon drop drinks to enjoy. Met the owner she was super sweet! We were seated an hour later (not 2.5 hours ) which was a lovely surprise. Keenan our server went above and beyond. I so happen to be that rare individual that is allergic to garlic and gluten. ( I know bummer) They were able to accommodate! I had the mista salad which was fresh crisp and full of flavor. Gluten Free penne minus the garlic and extra capers , fresh basil and tomato! Absolutely delicious! We also had Caesar salad Chicken Parmigiana The ambiance, Food, Service, meeting the sweet owners all was an incredibly amazing experience! The best part was meeting a celebrity here! 5 stars I highly recommend if you are in the area to check them out. It is worth the wait.

Best nice atmosphere restaurant in big bear. Everything on the menu was very well done. Highly recommended. Great service too.

Only appetizers allowed in the patio area. Takes them over 20 minutes to get you your drinks. One star for inside the restaurant which looked really nice. Left a 20% tip for me to get up and ask for my food and drinks. I won't be back.

I have no idea why this place is rated so low. The food was delicious, the service was wonderful (shout-out to Lilly!!!!) and the atmosphere is great. We came as a family of 5 (2 small kids) and they were very accommodating for the kids. The portions are large, the food came hot and fresh and they even have a coffee bar. The cocktails were great and the location is great too. Highly recommend and would come back again.

Came up to Big Bear for a bachelorette party weekend and all 8 of us went to dinner here on Sat evening around 730. It was a moderate crowd and there was a group of 12 checking in ahead of us, said it was an hour wait so we got worried. They were able to sit that party and sit us right away! We were shocked and appreciative. Our waitress Courtney was so sweet and tentative. This restaurant is super cute and minimalistic. Full bar choices are amazing, was able to accommodate a special drink request I had. Courtney also took the time to talk to the bride about wedding details, etc, like she really cared about us not just our business. Definitely will come back here when in town again.

There are so many people working yet everything takes so long. Placing the order, getting the food, getting the bill, trying to get water, etc. everything takes SO long when there are 4 people standing around constantly. The food was about $30-$40 a dish. My dish was supposed to have beef medallions but they might as well have been hockey pucks. Completely overdone, no flavor, or any moisture left in it at all. The pasta was mushy as well. The ambiance is cozy, welcoming. The people are "nice" as in they'll give you a big smile but ignore you after. I would not recommend this place at all.

So Sad! Let me say we packed it up and went to Saucy pizza down the street! The meat Ball soup literally had ground beef No meat balls ! And cold sent it back came back cold again ! Something about some law that says you can't serve hot soup ! Was told everything was from scratch! Wonder how my chicken was compressed strips ! my husbands shrimp was mushy and not fresh ! Took one bite! Packed it up just was not in mood for a scene Oh and I guess they ran out of bread for table ! The cost for two an edible pasta dishes with no drinks $100.. SO SAD NEVER WILL I EAT THERE AGAIN !

Came here for dinner 1 hour and 15 minutes before their posted closing time, and was told that they were closed and they could not seat us. The lady at the front desk was very rude about the situation, especially when we can clearly see there were tables that were waiting for service/food. When we wanted to clarify about their closing time, online it started 1hour and 15 minutes, and the sign on their door also reflected that time, she just told us that they are no longer serving people and turned us away. To be honest it felt like she was racially profiling us, as she was looking us up and down and denied us service. It's 2024 do better, you're a local restaurant.

Funghi pizza is DIVINE. Live music was great. Food was even better. Our waitress (Jasmine) was fantastic! She was present without being annoying and made sure we were always great on drinks!

Literally the worse service I have ever recieved. Would not let us in a seating area reserved for family, waited 30 min to sit on patio. Ran out of pizza dough. Took 10 minutes to get a server, then another 20 to get a drink, salad, then told out of bread, after waiter said fresh bread was coming. He then brought bed to another table. We have been sitting hear 45 minutes and still no food. I would tell you how spaghetti and meatballs is if it ever comes. Resteraunt wasn't closing when we got here. Waiter never once asked to refill drinks or apologize for the wait until I started writing this review. When I mentioned the wait he got rude and disrespectful. I then looked for the manager and he pointed to the family sitting in the patio area and said I could talk to them. I was which one and he said any of them. I began to explain to the group how horrible the service had been and one of the men stated you need to understand we have been busy all day, and I said that should not change customer service and he stood up got in my face and told me to "BOUNCE".

We haven't even left the restaurant yet and I'm already making this review. Drinks 10/10. Lasagna 10/10. Service is 10/10. The coffee bar is also 10/10! This is not only the best Italian food I've ever had... it's the best food I've ever had!! Please come here.

The 3.5 star overall rating of this place nearly turned us off from eating here, but I am GLAD we decided to go in. We got here mid Memorial Day weekend expecting it to be absolutely slammed, but we showed up around 4:30 to just a few people there, (when we left an hour and a half later, it was packed, and for good reason!!) THIS PLACE WAS AMAZING. We started off strong with our server Yazmine, who was extremely welcoming and patient while we decided what we wanted to order. We got the focaccia (absolute necessity if you love balsamic, the garlic is SOAKED in it) a top 2 Caesar salad my fiancé and I have ever had, and a Quattro frommagio pizza and baked manicotti. The pizza was a solid 8.7, the baked manicotti was serviceable; but only felt that way because everything else was so amazing. Highly recommend this place to anyone staying in big bear for the weekend that wants solid food at some good prices!

Do not eat here. I ordered one sandwich when the restaurant was literally completely empty. 45 minutes passes by...not one visit from our rude waitress and no sandwich. We got up and left. We went to the 572 Social Kitchen and lounge which was right down the street, had excellent service, and phenomenal food. :)

Great food, wine and music. Love the patio vibe. Jasmine was very attentive. A gem hidden in plain sight. Will be back!

The bruschetta and pizza are FANTASTIC, with high-quality olive oil, Burrata, and mozzarella. One of my favorite spots for lunch. Fresh, delicious, and the chef often visits tables to check on everyone's meals!

Food was delicious, the waiters were kind, even though it was a super hectic night, and the place was super cute and cozy. Absolutely loved the coffee as well!
