Hotel La Perouse | Best places to stay in Cote d'Azur

"Built into a promontory on the Cote d’Azur, with spectacular views over the Baie des Anges, this 1930s hotel has the most enviable position in Nice. The city’s pebble beach is just below, while a short walk around the headland is the port, where you’ll find less touristy bars and restaurants than along the promenade. The Cours Saleya flower market and Old Town are a few minutes’ walk away, too. Recently refurbished rooms all have balconies or terraces, and there’s an impressive heated pool built into the rock – the seafront balconies feel like royal box seats over Nice. Factor in an excellent restaurant, and helpful staff, and it’s a good bet for first-time visitors, or couples popping down for a romantic Riviera weekend. " - Dana Facaros

Suburb location and service! My daughters and I had the most wonderful stay at the hotel. Our room was spacious and comfortable with the most beautiful balcony with view of the bay. The staff was kind and courteous, ready to help with any requests. The location is perfect, right in the heart of old town and on the sea. Highly recommended!

Fantastic location by the Old Town of Nice and by the beach! Very charming, pretty hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful outdoor restaurant patio where they serve breakfast and dinner and a nice but small pool. Beautiful views of the ocean. Room was a little small but we loved our balcony. Definitely recommend this place for anyone staying in Nice!

My wife and I stayed 4 nights end of Aug after years of dreaming of visiting south of France and can easily say this hotel did not disappoint. I would go for a run most mornings to explore the city and think it is probably the single best location to get to the beach, old town, port, Parc de la Colline and the market. The pool was beautiful and view from the rooftop is also without question the best in all of Nice. For comparison - we also stayed at the stunning hotel Carlton in Cannes which was also amazing but for the value you get here we would pick this place 10/10 times. Overall had an outstanding experience and if/when I return I will be staying here again!

Just got to this hotel and unfortunately the way they portray the hotel online has nothing to do with what it actually looks like. After paying upwards of $2000 for two nights here we were put in a room with no views at all looking at a wall with a balcony looking down at the staff break area. It is supposed to be newly renovated, but it does not seem like it is at all. When we complained at the front desk, we were told that what we had was a superior room (unsure what the non superior rooms look like but beware) and that they could do nothing to help us. The third bed (it is supposed to be a triple room) is a tiny cot directly underneath the air conditioning vent. When we asked to cancel so we could go elsewhere, we were told our money was not refundable so we are stuck here. They will not help us and their only fix would be for us to upgrade to another room for an extra €250 per night. We are saddened by our experience here and we are hoping to spend the least amount of time in the hotel as possible. Not sure who awarded them 4 stars but this room has 2 stars at best. This is a sour note on our trip to the south of France.

Charming hotel in perfect location! This was a lovely spot in Nice the staff were all very||Friendly and helpful. The room on the second floor had a beautiful view from the large terrace.||The breakfast in the garden was very good and they have the most amazing top floor private patio only open to guests with a bar open in the evenings. We enjoyed our stay very much and will return when we come back to Nice.

We stayed at hotel La Perouse for my mums birthday and it was brilliant. Beautiful rooms, delicious food and stunning surroundings. The staff were all absolutely amazing! So friendly and work extremely hard. ||||My only advice would be to have a better way of ordering drinks at the pool - but that’s me being fussy! Thanks for a great stay.

Arrived reasonably early and room wasn’t ready as expected. Left our luggage and went off to explore Nice.||Got back and was shown to our room. Up a floor, down the corridor, down the steps and through the restaurant. Through the patio area, up some steps to our room. The room was clean but small to say the least. The shower was good, as was the aircon. The view was watching people eat at the patio restaurant. Didn’t like the location of the room at all. We had to go through the restaurant every time and just felt awkward. One time we got back to our room at the end of the day and there was chewed chewing gum on the side of the bathroom sink 🤢 neither myself or my husband chew gum so can only assume it was the cleaner?||In the main the staff were really helpful and friendly.||Wasn’t too impressed with the patio restaurant. We only ate there for breakfast through. They ask you if you’d like eggs and then you get charged 2.50 euro per egg. There was a dead fly in the orange juice also. I understand it’s the end of season and maybe needs refreshing a bit

Perfect location to be near the sea and old town Nice. Hotel staff welcoming, and accommodating throughout our stay including having a bag with breakfast treats for our 3:45 a.m. airport departure on the final day. Property well maintained with a great view of a beautiful sunset each evening.

Yelp
WOW! What a wonderful experience last week during my 9 day stay. The location is very near the Old Town and walking distance to the railway station and trams. Three blocks from the produce markets and over looks the beach area. The room we had was #101 right near the pool with and outside entrance and small patio. The staff was awesome with meeting all our needs and made several arrangements for local travel, dinner, and rental car. I highly recommend this location. make sure you book via their website to get the free breakfast offer. If you use other hotel sites, the cost is 24 Euros. If you need airport transportation, they can arrange driver pickup in baggage claim. Wonderful experience!

Yelp
We booked with them for late May and want to cancel. They have refused to refund our money. They are closed for goodness sakes!! What on earth are they thinking of during the pandemic!

Yelp
Cons: Rooms were strange and dark. The hotel is a frustrating labyrinth--we were on the 5th floor and had to take 4 separate elevators to get there from the lobby. The hot tub was always barely luke warm and had no temperature control. Pros: the view from the 6th floor terrace is outstanding and hard to beat. Wish I had more time to spend up there. Staff is friendly and quick to serve you.

Yelp
This is a wonderful hotel and highly recommended. The staff is excellent, responsive, most spoke English (important for me, maybe not as much for others), and were incredibly kind, professional, and hospitable. The location is on the East Side of the old part of town, which means you're right on the beach and have the best views of Nice. The room service and hotel food was excellent. Our room had a patio overlooking the Med and I cannot overstate how wonderful this made our experience. There is a rooftop with a hot tub and a pool with restaurant service, but we spent most of our time on the beach which is across the street. There was not a single other hotel I would have chosen in Nice for location or overall experience. Very highly recommended. Also, I know this review is a little gushing, but I created a Yelp account (normally I read I dont post) solely to show my appreciation for this hotel. It was great.

Yelp
It's a beautiful hotel with a fantastic location. We booked a room with large patio Mediterranean Sea view and it didn't disappoint. The room is fine but the patio with retractable awning and fantastic view is killer. There are a couple of downsides. One being it takes a plane, train, and three elevators to get to the room. The other being the the pool and hot tub close at 9 pm. Not a bid deal in most places but we had the earliest reservation possible in the restaurant and didn't get to the hit tub until 10 pm and it was closed, what a bummer when spending this kind of money on a room.
