Hotel La Perouse | Best places to stay in Cote d'Azur

"Built into a promontory on the Cote d’Azur, with spectacular views over the Baie des Anges, this 1930s hotel has the most enviable position in Nice. The city’s pebble beach is just below, while a short walk around the headland is the port, where you’ll find less touristy bars and restaurants than along the promenade. The Cours Saleya flower market and Old Town are a few minutes’ walk away, too. Recently refurbished rooms all have balconies or terraces, and there’s an impressive heated pool built into the rock – the seafront balconies feel like royal box seats over Nice. Factor in an excellent restaurant, and helpful staff, and it’s a good bet for first-time visitors, or couples popping down for a romantic Riviera weekend. " - Dana Facaros

Everything about my 4 day stay was a joy. At the airport, a driver was waiting for me per my request. At the hotel I was greeted warmly and checked in promptly. Accommodations were lovely--a bright, airy room with a large patio and a glorious sea view. Breakfast was a large buffet with a wide variety of foods. And the one dinner I ate at the hotel was delicious. I will add that prior to my arrival, the hotel made several dinner reservations for me at local restaurants. All correspondence was helpful and gracious.

We had an amazing weekend at Hotel La Pérouse! The hotel is both charming and luxurious, with exceptionally helpful staff who made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The rooms are beautifully decorated, and our terrace offered a breathtaking view of the sea. Everything about our stay was perfect from the atmosphere to the service and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Nice. We can’t wait to come back!

La Perouse is well sited with views across the whole Bay. Inside it is a little bit of a 'rabbit warren' but you soon get a hang of the layout and the lifts ensure it is easy to move around. Everything works. The staff are all lovely, kind and welcoming. Our bedroom, although possibly the only one without a sea view, was very large and extremely well appointed, as was the bathroom. The restaurant is on the pricey side for dining but breakfast is delicious with lots of choice. We didn't try other facilities but could see that the pool and sauna were much appreciated by others.||We like walking, so its relevant to say that this hotel's situation makes it easy to walk into the old town and beyond or to go in the other direction to the port which is equally interesting. Just a very few meters from the Hotel door is the interior lift to the top of the old chateau hill - a free treat that is a delight at any time of day but particularly at dusk.||Its a great place for a relaxing holiday for a few days.

Suburb location and service! My daughters and I had the most wonderful stay at the hotel. Our room was spacious and comfortable with the most beautiful balcony with view of the bay. The staff was kind and courteous, ready to help with any requests. The location is perfect, right in the heart of old town and on the sea. Highly recommended!

Google
Great location - close to the old town one way and the harbour the other way Also easy access to beach Lovely room with terrace overlooking the sea. Fantastic rooftop on floor 6 gives the same view as the Bellanda Tower Our room didn’t have the best of showers and the corridors and communal areas a little dated but didn’t spoil the experience Very friendly service - nothing was too much trouble The pool and restaurant looked lovely but didn’t use so cannot comment

Google
Fantastic location by the Old Town of Nice and by the beach! Very charming, pretty hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful outdoor restaurant patio where they serve breakfast and dinner and a nice but small pool. Beautiful views of the ocean. Room was a little small but we loved our balcony. Definitely recommend this place for anyone staying in Nice!

Google
We found this wonderful hotel ideally placed between the old town and the port. The staff were very friendly and the accommodation was excellent. Great breakfast and a lovely pool. Superb views. Altogether a fabulous place. Thank you.

Google
This is our third visit, and first visit back since the refurbishment.||The refurbishment has been done extremely well. All the things we liked about the hotel have been made slightly better, without disturbing the aesthetic or the rustic feel.||It is a wonderful place and probably the best hotel we have stayed in. The food (breakfast and dinner) was excellent, the wine list is great, the facilities are great.

Yelp
WOW! What a wonderful experience last week during my 9 day stay. The location is very near the Old Town and walking distance to the railway station and trams. Three blocks from the produce markets and over looks the beach area. The room we had was #101 right near the pool with and outside entrance and small patio. The staff was awesome with meeting all our needs and made several arrangements for local travel, dinner, and rental car. I highly recommend this location. make sure you book via their website to get the free breakfast offer. If you use other hotel sites, the cost is 24 Euros. If you need airport transportation, they can arrange driver pickup in baggage claim. Wonderful experience!

Yelp
We booked with them for late May and want to cancel. They have refused to refund our money. They are closed for goodness sakes!! What on earth are they thinking of during the pandemic!

Yelp
Cons: Rooms were strange and dark. The hotel is a frustrating labyrinth--we were on the 5th floor and had to take 4 separate elevators to get there from the lobby. The hot tub was always barely luke warm and had no temperature control. Pros: the view from the 6th floor terrace is outstanding and hard to beat. Wish I had more time to spend up there. Staff is friendly and quick to serve you.

Yelp
This is a wonderful hotel and highly recommended. The staff is excellent, responsive, most spoke English (important for me, maybe not as much for others), and were incredibly kind, professional, and hospitable. The location is on the East Side of the old part of town, which means you're right on the beach and have the best views of Nice. The room service and hotel food was excellent. Our room had a patio overlooking the Med and I cannot overstate how wonderful this made our experience. There is a rooftop with a hot tub and a pool with restaurant service, but we spent most of our time on the beach which is across the street. There was not a single other hotel I would have chosen in Nice for location or overall experience. Very highly recommended. Also, I know this review is a little gushing, but I created a Yelp account (normally I read I dont post) solely to show my appreciation for this hotel. It was great.

Yelp
It's a beautiful hotel with a fantastic location. We booked a room with large patio Mediterranean Sea view and it didn't disappoint. The room is fine but the patio with retractable awning and fantastic view is killer. There are a couple of downsides. One being it takes a plane, train, and three elevators to get to the room. The other being the the pool and hot tub close at 9 pm. Not a bid deal in most places but we had the earliest reservation possible in the restaurant and didn't get to the hit tub until 10 pm and it was closed, what a bummer when spending this kind of money on a room.
