The best place to eat in Paris! The atmosphere of the restaurant captures the charm of traditional France. The food was absolutely perfect — I had the Duck Confit and the Chicken, and both dishes were outstanding. Highly recommended!

Bethany Adler

Google
Absolutely perfect French restaurant. This is 100% what I was expecting when I found this place and read that it was classic French. The place is gorgeous with dark wood walls, decorated with old books and mirrors. Our server was the super friendly and helpful- giving recommendations and chatting with us about our visit. The food was incredible perfection. We had the French onion soup and the mushroom tarte to start, both had the sea bream with the most decadent butter sauce, and then crème brûlée and apple tart for dessert. And we of course enjoyed a nice spritz type drink. Everything about this place was wonderful and I wish we hadn’t gone on our last day in France so we could go back every day!

Google
The atmosphere is incredibly authentic, with a charming old Parisian style. The young lady who served us, whose grandmother is from our neighboring country’s capital, Riga, was extremely helpful and pleasant. Her recommended dishes—foie gras, onion soup (the broth didn’t impress me much, it was quite bland), duck, and the upside-down apple pie—were all amazing, everything just melted in my mouth. I’m so happy I got a table here, which I reserved while on the plane. I highly recommend it, 10 out of 10!

Google
Nice interior, but mediocre, slow, and slightly arrogant service. The foie gras was excellent. But the beef tartare was far from a French classic; it was closer to a toast with meat. The waiter ignored our wine selection and each time brought us something completely different of his own choosing.

Google
I visited on a Sunday when the only main dish available was the Sunday chicken with fries. The chicken and fries were decent, and the extra salad was a nice touch. The Pavlova for dessert was refreshing and light, a good way to end a fairly filling meal. The service was fine, though it felt a bit forced rather than genuinely welcoming, and we waited longer than expected for the bill. What really bothered me, though, was that a guest brought a large dog and sat it on the couch. While I understand that some places are pet-friendly, this felt inappropriate for a restaurant setting.

Google
The seating was too close to the adjacent table, and when more people came in, the ventilation in the room was poor, making it difficult to breathe. I don't understand why tipping for service is compulsory. The food was quite satisfying. While the onion soup wasn't very flavorful, the fries were excellent.

I made the mistake of booking this restaurant into my calendar without reserving. And yet they allowed us in. And we had gorgeous and delightful service from Swan, who is a French national educated in England. I don’t think I’ve had better service in France. Our food was both beautiful and delicious. Our Rully Premier cru Chablis was spectacular. The goat cheese puff pastry salad was divine. Thank you Swan for a lovely meal.

Google
Our favourite restaurant in Paris. Food is divine. Staff friendly and warm. Wine selection is a perfect accompaniment to food. We will be back and highly recommend to our friends for an at home true French experience.

Yelp
Old school charm! La Petite Chaise made my last night in Paris magnificent. A last minute reservation for a table of 8 was accepted by the staff who could not be more kind to a bunch of weary tourists who spent the day at the Lourve. From the minute we walked in, we were treated like locals with a nice table in charming and cozy dining room. The menu included a prix fix for a three course meal with many selections to choose from for each course. Although everyone in my party enjoyed their selection, I can personally vouch for the escargot appetizer and duck breast main course. Every course in my group was served together and with every plate hot to the touch. I cannot remember the last time I started a group meal that was served together all at once with a still warmed plate. That attention to detail is amazing and did not go unnoticed. My waiter for the evening could not have been more professional and a true gentleman. He was very patient with my crew given a language barrier, we all shared a few laughs during our visit, and he even rushed out of the restaurant after our meal after seeing us awkwardly try to take a selfie group picture after our meal. We were the last ones in the restaurant and clearly on his time. I would definitely visit again just to be in his care again.

Yelp
For the oldest restaurant in Paris I was expecting a bit more. They were kind enough to sit us without a reservation as it was early in the evening (right at 7pm). Service was ok, not overly helpful (we speak French & English). Food was very classic and delicious but slightly oily. Our side dishes were cold as well which was disappointing for the price of the meal. The chocolate mousse for dessert was delicious!

Robertha R.

Yelp
Wow! This was one of the BEST restaurant I went to. All the staff is so kind and speaks there best english to help you understand. I would recommend this to anyone that want good French food. I had amazing steak and desert was amazing. The ambiance was very cool and old and the restaurant had very cool vibes definitely recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
The oldest restaurant in Paris, Founded in 1680 ! The restaurant takes its name from the transformation of an old French word "cheze" of latin origin, casa meaning isolated house. The first construction of this building dates from 1610 and was located on the samall patch called "the little Louvre" near Grenelle. Between 1652 and 1680 the house has been raised. It is the one which still exists. Through recorded salesof the building Paris is certain that already in 1680 a certain Georges Rameau was selling wines in this very spot. With the wines, some food was being served and has been served since. This is how they can confirm that this is the oldest restaurant in Paris according to records. The iron gate on the front door dates from this era. It is actually classified as a historical monument which prohibits them from altering appearance. The reputation of the place spread quickly making it the "rendezvous" of many great minds. Located in the country, game came frome the surrounding forest, first was brought in from the Seine and local fresh farm chickens were appreciated. The most important Lords of the land were feasting on the local specialties. Nobles and nobility under the same roof. From Philip d'Orleans, to King Louis XIV's. And also Catherine Hardouin-Mansart, daughter of Jules Hardoin Mansart, royal architect, in Versailles, who created the hall of mirrors. History tells us that, in the XIX th century, Vidocq, the famous policeman, made several important arrests in this place. The well known gourmet, Brillat Savarin, wrote exquisite taste of the menus in his book "la physiologie du goût". At this same time period, la Petite Chaise was likely to see Musset, George Sand, Juliette Recamier, Chateaubriand and others, living nearby. In the beginning of the 20th century, artists and actors gathered here after show-time. Cabaret stars from Montmartre traveled to La Petite Chaise to be ssketched by Toulouse Lautrec. The tenor Alvarez and the baritone Noté loved to be seen in the upstairs cornerswith the bosomed ladies of their choice. Sometimes, some very "close" relationships continued after the dessert. Singers would pour out their hearts witkh love ballads under the restaurant windows. Great Collette was once invited by the "Crapouillot's crew (periodic) for her literary talent only... Politicians, such as François Mitterand, came from nearby Poly-Sci and cabinet members from the nearby National Assembly. Today the scene is still mixed with artists, politicians, actors, writers...and of course food enthusiast tourists passing through. Cheers

Yelp
Claimed to be one of the oldest restaurants in Paris. Tried their set menu for dinner. I started off with poached eggs with bacon in wine sauce. It was delightful. The main course of veal on a bed of pasta with cheese was a little bit of a let down. Veal was not seasoned. The cheese sauce was nice, but the pasta was too soft. The cheese plate at the end of the meal was nice. It's a small restaurant, but probably draws tons of tourists. It's not a bad meal. Good service.

Yelp
The oldest restaurant in Paris didn't disappoint! We walked in without a reservation (two people) right after opening, but I've heard you'll usually need to book in advance. The French onion soup and salmon in dill sauce were both excellent appetizers. I ordered the steak tartare, which was excellent, and I was surprised by how large the portion was (I couldn't even finish it)! My fiancé ordered the duck breast and it was also delicious. We were a little underwhelmed by the mini dessert plate, but still it was an overall excellent meal.

Yelp
Nice place, but the food is marginal. Not sure why others rate it so highly. BF and I had the duck. It was good, but nothing special. I had the escargot which again was ok. BF had the onion soup, which was slightly watery Dessert was a fruit crumble. It had a dollop of cream. which still could not save it. But the service was good. Super nice and attentive. The interior was nicely decorated, and it had a warm and comfortable feeling. They brought the bill without asking. Lots of people speaking English, and one very obnoxious young woman who did not understand she had a very loud voice.

Yelp
One of the oldest restaurants in Paris. I was searching for a place to eat dinner for Valentines Day and came across this little gem. I immediately contacted them to make a reservation. We were not disappointed. The restaurant has a lot of character and was super adorable. The food was amazing. My husband still talks about the duck he had there to this day. I most definitely recommend!

Yelp
We order the set meal including choice of appetizer, main course, and dessert. It was amazing! We arrived at 7pm, and were the first seated. The gentleman with the white beard is super friendly and welcoming! And the dessert, just wow!

Yelp
Awesome spot in Paris The place had an old decor but the food was modern and well prepared For what you get it is an amazing deal We got the lunch special and that included an appetizer, main and drink for only 25 euros This is a must place to eat for modern French cuisine

Yelp
Recommended by our hotel, this is an incredibly charming place built four hundred years ago. Staff were fairly friendly and we were seated in an upstairs room corner table with red walls, candle type lighting and oil paintings on the walls...perfect for a romantic dinner. Prix fix meal is 33 euros for appetizer, main course and dessert. We had baked escargot, exactly right in a garlic sauce, a dual dish of cod and salmon in a white butter sauce with fresh julienne vegetables, and a duck dish with baked apple in a prune and Armagnac sauce. Outstanding depth of sauce and all well portioned with crispy fresh bread. Dessert choice was a clementine and chestnut gelato with fresh chantilly cream and orange peel and honey. We loved all the dishes and the service was friendly especially since we showed up without a reservation at peak dinner time. And being the oldest restaurant in Paris, a ton of ambience. Will be back!

Dorcelle H.

Yelp
Do not order the onion soup, it will come without soup and soggy bread at the bottom and crusty cheese when brought to the attention of management he told me too bad and that they've been making soup for years, and proceeded to do nothing about it. Customer seated next to me also had the same problem and once brought to attention again they called them "rude". Will never eag at this establishment again! I do NOT recommend.

Kari F.

Yelp
Possibly the worst French onion soup in Paris. Super Stuffy atmosphere. Won't come back. Staff wasn't friendly. Plenty of better options! Avoid.

Yelp
Wonderful food. This place was recommended to us by the hotel staff where we were staying. It was a short walk from our hotel. After our first meal there we decided we would go back on our last night as well. Make a reservation to ensure you get a table. Quarters are close but so worth it. The first night I had the goat cheese salad, the cod and the amazing chocolate cake. They offer a fixed menu where you can choose between 8-10 appetizers, entrees and dessert. The wine selection is not large but completely adequate. The second night I had the onion soup, veal and that chocolate cake. I loved the cod - I liked the veal. When in Paris again I will be going back.

Yelp
Before my trip, I read guides and books about discovering the real Paris. I came to La Petite Chaise after reading a thorough review on David Lebovitz's (a Californian pastry chef living in Paris) website. As he mentioned, the restaurant is one of the oldest in the city and has an unapologetically simple menu. The decor was quaint: pastel wallpaper, floral tablecloth, and a noblewoman poised on a wall watching me eat. Sure, it was a little cheesy - au beurre to be more relevant - but the service and the food was phenomenal. The menu has about 5 different classic options for each course; every one of the plates come out looking beautiful. The bread was some of the best we've had in our short trip. It's an upscale restaurant, but don't expect outrageous prices; they are quite moderate. Looking around the restaurant, we didn't hear a word of English, which was a very good sign. An even better sign were the older French couples around us eating escargot. Upon walking in, they offer to take your coats and assist in putting them on after dinner. Servers are older, extremely polite, and welcoming. It was a wonderful experience that I want to have times again. I highly recommend bringing a date or a close travel buddy.

Yelp
loved this place! i heard that it was the oldest restaurant in paris. we tried it because it reviewed well and it was close to our hotel, and i'm so glad we did! the ambiance was very nice and looked very french traditional. the waiters were lovely and i felt like they served us our courses at the perfect time and they were so nice to us. the food was amazing as well. best escargot i've ever had. for the quality of the meal i wouldn't say it was that expensive in fact i would have expected it to cost more for the service we received. i love this place and i hope i get to come back soon!

Yelp
The fixed price menus are terrific with lots of choices. We each had the escargot, my wife had the Duck I had the Lamb. Both are meals included potatoes with cheese. The sauces and gravy was delicious. I like the escargot out of the shell in the ceramic (hot) dish. Dipping bread to soak up that garlic is a must. The restaurant was founded in the 1600' and is the oldest restaurant in Paris. Reservations... A must. The restaurant is moly open a limited number of hours in a day... Love this place it's on my Paris bucket list.

Yelp
This is the oldest restaurant in Paris, opened in 1680. No, that's not a typo. This restaurant is older than the United States, and was over a century old when the French Revolution happened. This restaurant serves a 33€ three-course menu, which includes and entrée, plat, and dessert. The food is very typical French fare - I ordered a poached egg on a carrot bed for my entrée, salmon and cod with vegetables for my plat, and a creme brûlée for my dessert. All three of the dishes were incredible. My personal favorite was the salmon and cod with vegetables. All of the portions for these dishes were huge for France - I thought that they were pretty on par to the amount of food that I would get from a nice American restaurant back home. The decor of the restaurant was filled with old paintings that might as well be from the 18th century. It literally looks like a cozy small house (wonder where they got the inspiration for the name from) inside, with lots of great artwork everywhere. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant if you have the opportunity to eat here - it's a cool place to show off and say that you've been to the oldest restaurant in one of the best restaurant cities in the world.

Yelp
We visited all the Paris hot spots and were ready for dinner - now. We were starving and didn't care where we ate as long as it was amazing and memorable. After searching and searching without finding inspiration we decided to pop into a hotel and ask for recommendations. We were given the name of only one restaurant - "A la Petite Chaise" and were told we could have a reservation. When I asked for more details I was told, "It's French and it's good." (with a French tone that made it clear that I had no right to question). We took our chances and arrived to an empty restaurant. We started with champagne - perfect. Next we had the French Onion Soup. It was honestly one of the things we will remember most about this trip. So good. Wow, wouldn't it be great if the whole meal is this good? Guess what - the whole meal was that good. We split the citrus salad and we each enjoyed our own main course - veal, cod and lamb. The sauces were just how you would hope a French sauce would be. Halfway through our meal the restaurant filled up with a ready crowd. Turns out this is the oldest restaurant in Paris. Who knew? We really lucked out with this special dinner. Not cheap but so worth it.

Yelp
Now this what you call an old school romance. The building dates back to 17th century and so does the charm...and, most importantly, it is supposed to be the oldest restaurant in Paris. Husband and I were on a short holiday to celebrate his birthday. We made reservations for an old school date night, put on our best, and went to enjoy the experience. The set menus seem to be popular, but you can go with a la carte options as well. As someone obsessed with escargot and terrine de canard, I ordered both starters and enjoyed them equally. The duck leg and thigh in orange sauce were spectacular. We paired our meal with a beautiful Sancerre. Service was perfect from start to finish and we felt welcomed. This restaurant and food are a classic. We saw some tourists in shorts and hoodies, but I recommend putting on proper dinner attire to match the restaurant's history, charm, and service. Don't be that tourist who stands out like a sore thumb in a classy restaurant :) Why can't I use the lovey dovey eyes emoji on Yelp reviews...it would be perfect here.

Yelp
We went here for a French cuisine experience, and we were not disappointed! We slipped in early at 7:30 without a reservation but the line was out the door once we left around 9:30. The menu feels written for tourists, featuring pâte, escargot, tartare, and French onion soup, but every (cliché) dish we had was perfect. The staff were attentive and extremely professional, easily speaking to us in English. The dining rooms are small, so hang up your coat in the closet! Extensive wine, aperitif and digestif list, and the specials were tempting but we went with dishes we had been wanting to try since landing in Paris. Portions were very very generous and a three course meal, bottle of wine, and aperitifs for both of us were €125, pricey but absolutely worth the food and experience.

Yelp
We arrived at our hotel tired and hungry aound 8 PM. The concierge recommended this place and we went. Great dinner and bottle of house wine @ 41 euros a head Great meal, well prepared and friendly svc. Language not a problem.

Yelp
Thanks for the gift! The beef tartar is amazing.. the side is also surprisingly delicious. Highly recommend this place to anyone. Also heard that this place has been a restaurant since 1680, and it's illegal to renovate the wall outside as stated in the law...
google avatar

Devon K.

Yelp
Expensive. Romantic. Magical. Worth it. Definitely a "last place before we go home" type of restaurant. Be prepared to drop 150+ here. But it is worth it. The ambiance, the art of the wall, everything make for a very authentic and historical Parisian feel. Feels like you are eating in a 14th century palace dining room!
google avatar

Yelp
Good food, wonderful staff' Intimate filled with history Made for a very romantic evening

Jeri S.

Yelp
This restaurant was nice quaint little place. Went here on a Friday night and was seated upstairs. There was an aperatif, appetizer, main course, and 2 bottles of wine-one red and 1 white. We ordered the salmon in butter sauce and the French onion soup. They served little crackers that were like Ritz crackers. The French onion soup was to die for. Rich with a good amount of cheese and croutons. Not salty at all. The salmon melted in my mouth and the potatoes were like a pie with layers of potatoes stacked up. Butter sauce was whoooooo!!! Some other guests tried the ball steak and said is was great. I would return to try other dishes.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
Hands down best french onion soup. We arrived in Paris starving, checked into the hotel and walked an hour to eat at this...the oldest restaurant in Paris. Did I mention we were starving. I guess it took a bit to settle into Parisian living. We didn't realize it would take us an hour to have bread at our table. I was ready to eat the tablecloth. Our bread arrived and it was delicious. I ordered a salad with seafood which was fresh and nice to start. I received the french onion soup on a cute plate that said a la petite chaise the name of the restaurant moments later and was extremely happy. All that melted cheese - who wouldn't be. It was heavenly and the best meal I would eat in Paris. The rest was history

Yelp
This restaurant has the honor of being "the oldest restaurant in Paris". Textbook-classic french food, nothing fancy or trendy, just traditional food done right. If you want a slab of foie gras, escargots, or a nice roasted rack of lamb au naturel, this would be a good place to go. The 3-course prix-fixe dinner presents an excellent value. On the other hand, if you are looking for more creativeness or haute cuisine, go somewhere else. A rather small place, so reservation is recommended especially for dinner.
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
This restaurant definitely played it safe. Nothing special. Just the classic, french dishes done right. That is to say, they taste ok. I was not impressed with anything though. My nordic fish with sorbet was interesting, but not particularly good. The gf had the french onion soup, which was good, but not anything more. I had the beef with potatoes in a wine sauce, which was appetizing. The creme brulee was nothing special, but I didn't want to finish it. Not the worst meal in Paris, but not the best. Just because it's the oldest restaurant in Paris does not mean it's the best. Still, it seemed like a difficult area to find a good meal, so it is a good place in a pinch.
google avatar

Yelp
For being the oldest restaurant in France, this was awesome!! Loved the food, very tasty, location was good. I will definitely come back

Yelp
A safe choice and something you should try once. I wanted to give this place a try as it's Paris' oldest restaurant (founded in 1680) and has very reasonable prices (31€ for appetizer, main course and dessert). It's a small place with an interior that hints at the age - from the small wooden staircase leading to our dining place to the modest interior. You really get a feel that this place has been around a while. Our waiter was pleasant and made sure the waiter-in-training who handled some of the items was doing his job. The wine prices were within reason. We found a nice 2004 Haut Médoc from Château de Lamarque for around 40€. While you can have your escargots if you like, the menu seems a bit geared towards the safer choices that pleases tourists. In fact, midway through the meal we noticed that everyone around us was American. The French onion soup was large and good. So far in Paris, I haven't had a bad or spectacular one. They are all "good" which isn't a slight. I enjoyed the beef filet with pepper sauce. It was also served with au gratin potatoes which is a common pairing. Again, it was good and one of our dining companions really liked the pork chop in a blue cheese sauce. The crème brûlée is a bit large, but you don't have to eat it all really now do you? So while it's Paris' oldest restaurant, it's also one of the safest for tourists who are there in force. I can see why the locals may prefer other haunts with more challenging cuisine. That said, the food and wait service are good and it was worth it to me dine with friends in a place established 350 years old. P.S. Yes, I know I can go to the McDonald's in Carrousel du Louvre and dine near the base of Philip II's 12th century palace...

Yelp
Highly recommended by the hotel, so we gave it a go during the June 2013 birthday week event. Boy were we happy we did. Turns out it is the oldest restaurant in Paris - founded in 1680, and it was our first upscale dinner in Paris. We ended up going with the pre-fixe dinner menu. Like previous reviewers have mentioned, there are a lot of choices on the pre-fixe, about 8 to 10 of both appetizer and entrée. The French soup wasn't what you would normally get in the states, and we didn't expect it to be. Much lighter on the cheese, not necessarily less cheese, just tasted light. Had the duck breast as an entrée and it was clear we were no longer in the states. I always heard the food was better in Paris, yada yada yada - they were so on the money. The food is much better, and this was the start of an epic journey of food for us. Almost nothing is average. Everything should get washed down with wine in Paris, a Chateauneuf du Pape did the trick here, along with some port. We were pleased with the service, and how could you not appreciate being in a restaurant that is over 300 years old. When I do head back there are a lot of places I will revisit, this without question will be one of them.

Felicia S.

Yelp
Just had dinner there tonight. The place is tiny and for that reason we waited to have a 9:15 sitting. We started with The escargot and froid gras, perfection! My husband had the rabbit in mustard sauce and I ordered the duo fish cod/ salmon under a cape of julienne vegetable steam beautifully. This was our first time here and it just happened to be a couples of blocks from our flat on 7th arrondissement. Let me just say that after coming to Paris for the last 35 years and visiting all the trending spot with acrobatic food displays and incongruous combinations, I much prefer the true and tried. I know the hipsters are always looking for the latest adventures in dining and that's just fine but me, I'll take the usual, well prepared comfort french food anytime!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Founded in 1680, frequented by artists, musicians and comedians, the food is amazing. The price is confusing. As the quality is superb. A great deal.

Yelp
I strongly advise looking for good French food elsewhere. This place uses frozen ingredients, salts their food too much and the decor is dowdy. And it's expensive! You can do a lot better, especially in Paris. In fact, you can get much better French food in USA, where I am from. My dessert was apparently canned fruit. The potatoes au gratin were absolutely mushy and salty. The vegetables on my fish were probably from a frozen package like the fish itself. The mozzarella with the tomatoes had a strange taste and that is a dish we love and in fact had good renditions of in France. The onion soup was pretty good and very large. We were in Paris for eight days and France for two weeks and this meal was the poorest value we had the entire time.
google avatar

L H.

Yelp
Excellent traditional French food, but don't be fooled--it is fresh, delicious, and, as of my last visit in July 2016, updated to include fresh vegetables (not something you used to find in French restaurants!). Great for business meetings and quiet talking at lunch. Romantic, lively and intimate at dinner. The real thing.

Yelp
I loved my dining experience in this historic restaurant. Very good service. I had french onion soup, duck breast, and crime brûlée. All were very delicious. I would highly recommend!

Yelp
Creme de la creme. OLDEST French restaurant in town, everything was DELICIOUS. BEST French food I've ever had Foie gras French onion soup Escargots Lamb chops Filet ALL BEAUTIFULLY PREPARED

Randy H.

Yelp
Superior service and very good food. The staff was very attentive and every detail was managed quite well. Real good food. The clientele was a mix of tourists and locals, with everyone seeming very content.

Yelp
This was one of the most disappointing meals we've had in our two weeks in France. My duck was chewy, and my wife and daughters all had the sea bream but said their tongues felt odd. Overall it was just a blase experience. The service was good and the waiters were very nice.
google avatar

Spoonfeeder S.

Yelp
The front looks like a little house and drew us in immediately. Friendly staff and the most affordable dinner we had in Paris. We opted for a bottle of cote du rhone, duck with peaches, and lamb shank. Best lamb I've ever had and the duck was incredibly flavorful. Highly recommended!

Edward P.

Yelp
Great place with old Decor and great food. One of the oldest restaurants in Paris. When we dropped on the whole neighborhood was having a street dinner party! What fun.

Mary Beth D.

Yelp
I was in Paris for 5 days and had dinner here twice. It is the best meal I have probably ever had (beef bourguignon, melts in your mouth) and the salmon was also amazing. Escargot and the dessert custard with caramel sauce was mouthwatering. Highly recommend this charming restaurant. Don't miss it. Yummy!!! Btw: what you can eat here for pre fix price of $36 (3 courses) would be $100 in the US. Fantastic.

Chang S.

Yelp
The service is excellent and the food is amazing! My daughters even suggested we should come every night. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Why 5 stars? Perfectly cooked fish and the best duck my husband has ever had. Typical French ambience (aka: cozy, dimly lit) and service, with awesome food.

Yelp
Great French onion soup. Filet of steak was incredible and sea bass great. App + entree + desert one set price. Very reasonable great food great price service very friendly. Will return

Yelp
Back again today. Never great, but always good. Had the onion soup, skip it, you can find better. Had the smoked salmon with dill spread. Very tasty with the toast and light after a day of other things. A bottle of Badoit (water) and a glass of red and white and on to the main course. Lamb for me and salmon and cod for my friend. The sauce on the fish is butter based and heavy but correct and the lamb had a potato cake that was great. I had the mango and black current sorbet. Truly delicious and I recommend as a finish to heavy meals. The coffee was just what I needed. All together $125.

Yelp
This was a very disappointing dining experience for my husband and I. I don't understand why so many people have given LPC five star reviews!?!? It took all of three seconds to realize that we had entered a tourist trap, but hoping for the best, we stuck it out. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre and just ok. The wait staff was friendly enough, earning them the two stars I'm giving this establishment.

Yelp
I want to echo the sentiments of many of the other reviewers. The food is well executed and traditional French fare. Its a safe option restaurant with reasonable prices which is probably why it is popular with tourists. I found it to be a great introduction to what French cuisine has to offer and enjoyed it although it wasn't the best meal I had while in Paris. It is very small and cozy as befitting its old pedigree, but still very charming. If your French language skills are not very good, like mine, there was a waiter who was able to communicate in English which helps as well. The onion soup is great and although a pedestrian dish, is still nice on a cold Parisian night.
