EXCELLENT little patisserie serving up classic viennoiserie. It’s a small shop on Jefferson Highway near River Ridge so it’s easy to miss. Glad I found this hidden gem. They have the typical pastry selections of plain butter croissants, ham and cheese, pain au chocolat, as well other specialties. Today was my first ever time in the shop and I was craving croissants. All I got was a ham and cheese croissant, a butter croissant, and a few pain au chocolats. ALL excellent. Even the cold ham and cheese one I had in store was delicious. When I got home, my mother and I fired up our oven and reheated the pain au chocolat. DREAMY texture as expected and of course it made a mess as a croissant should. And lots of butter too hehe. Cannot recommend this place enough. Please support our local businesses, and especially this if you love viennoiserie!

This patisserie is VERY good and I highly recommend their Almond Croissant and their Sticky Buns. Two of the aspects that set their pastries apart from other places is that due to the French style there’s more butter used and nothing is overly sweet. Also, their prices are reasonable and the staff is very friendly! I’m glad I discovered this little gem and hope it remains open. I didn’t get any of their Christmas treats but as you can see they’re absolutely adorable!

Google
This place is an absolute gem! I highly recommend their Pistachio croissant - if they're available. (You do have to get there early as they go quickly!) Their Kouign Amann reminds me of the DKA at Dominique Ansel. I bet there'd be a line out the door if this bakery were located in the quarter.

Google
Delicate, soft, and buttery pastries. Absolutely divine. I lived in Europe for quite some time and this bakery absolutely meets my high standards!

Google
I am so disappointed in the way that the staff treats customers. Rude and curt. Zero compassion. Zero interest in making a sale. Awful customer service. I will take my business to another bakery. It’s sad because the food is good. But I can’t support a business that handles their customers like this.I had no special request. Simply called to ask a question about their hours and menu.

Google
I'm a regular at their stall at the German Coast Farmers' Market in Destrehan on Saturday mornings, but I like to visit the shop in River Ridge if I'm passing. Their patisserie is excellent - their croissants are some of the best I've eaten (and I have spent some time in France) - though I often default to their pretzels which are delicious. My family love the Kouign Amman, and the brownies. The photo is what's left of this morning's haul, and it is very unlikely to survive the rest of the day. I'm glad to live this close to such a great patisserie.

Google
Absolutely amazing croissants and pastry. I ate one in my car and it was a tragically delicious mistake as it flaked everywhere. Definitely on the pricier side but on taste alone, 5/5.

Google
Omg omg omg. As I was driving way out to the middle of nowhere to get this cake I asked myself if this was really worth it? YES HONEY IT IS!! This is the best king cake I've had all season!! I'm definitely making this drive again!

Yelp
My wife and I recently ordered a Galette des Rois (Authentic French King Cake) [GdR] from La Petite Sophie. All I can say: WOW. I immediately realized that this was probably the best king cake--if not best pastry--I've ever had. The pastry chef has Michelin pedigree, and it shows. Just to compare, I bought another GdR from another famous & extremely popular French pastry shop Uptown on Magazine. It was only then that I realized just how perfect the GdR from La Petite Sophie was. I could clearly taste the Almond extract In the GdR from the uptown Pastry shop --WORLDS different from the high quality frangipane in the GdR from La Petite Sophie. The difference in "flake" between the two was also incomparable. Whereas La Petite Sophie's kept a crisp & consistent buttery flake for days after purchase, the other was wilted from the start--almost like store bought puff pastry. Simply put, La Petite Sophie is on a different echelon of quality. I can speak extremely highly of their other offerings too. What an absolute blessing to have this gem in our area. THANK YOU La Petite Sophie--Keep up the excellent work!

Faith A.

Yelp
Love La Petite Sophie! They have very reduced hours right now so I would call or check their Instagram before trusting the hours listed on Yelp or Google. Everything is good. Everything. So I don't have a specific suggestion. Go with whatever your heart tells you and you can't go wrong. Everything is so buttery, flaky, and fresh! It is a very unassuming hole-in-the-wall place on Jefferson Highway serving authentic French-style pastries. Thank you for bringing this gem to the neighborhood!

Bryan B.

Yelp
We know you come to Old Metairie on the first Tuesday of the month, but please open a shop on Metairie Road and serve coffee there as well! It would kill here...... French pastries just like in France! We are addicted. Wholeheartedly endorse your business!

Emily V.

Yelp
So delicious! I heard they sold out fast so I went around 9 am on a Friday morning. There were already 4 people in front of me in line and they had already obviously sold a lot but they hadn't sold out of anything yet. I got the ham and cheese croissant, a blue cheese and leek croissant and a kouign amann. All were amazing!! The kouign amann was probably the best one of those I've ever had! The blue cheese and leek croissant was probably my favorite, who knew blue cheese in a croissant would be so delicious! I will definitely come back when I'm out in Harahan again!

Jen L.

Yelp
Pandemic update: I was out near this delicious bakery on a week day morning and decided that I NEEDED pastry. NEEDED. Of course, I overpurchased but how could I resist all the delicious buttery pastry? This is a small shop and so they have removed most of the dine in tables so that you have to leave to consume, but that was fine with me. The staff and the bakers are all masked as are customers (thanks for those rules, Louisiana Governor!) I have never had a bad item here so you can't go wrong with anything on their menu.

Yelp
This place is a really cool little French patisserie in River Ridge. They are located in a small pale yellow brick building shared with a chiropractor. I stopped in Saturday morning and got a few sweets to take home and try. I was curious about the Kouign Amann (pronounced queen ah mahn). They have 3 varieties: original, Chocolate and Mascarpone. I tried the first two. They were very good. I also tried a Morning Bun. I loved the Orange zest in it. It's a very simple set up inside. They have one bakery case and just a few tables if you decide to eat there. Everything looked delicious. The prices are a little higher, but the quality is very good. Definitely a place to visit for a special treat.

Michelle G.

Yelp
Wow! Well worth the drive from Uptown. Lucky to get the last Kougin Amann king cake. So good - crispy crunchy on the bottom. Tried all the croissants - light and airy - not buttery and heavy. I wish they were open more than Friday and Saturday.

Leigh S.

Yelp
Best almond croissants ever I really wish they were open on Sundays for a brunch type meal.

Hoa K.

Yelp
Don't blink or you will miss this place. It's such an adorable place! Authentic French pastries. I had an array of pastries! Kouign Amann, Almond Croissant, Spinach Croissant and Beignant. If you look at my pic, there's a description of everything. I loved each and every pastry I bought. All were flaky and buttery with lots and lots of layers. The Kouign Amann is something I've had before when I lived in Dallas! This is way better bc of the layers! I love the Beignant too! It also had layers with a lemony white chocolate curd. It's better toasted a bit. Don't microwave cause it flattens the breads! Of course with authenticity comes with a price. I ordered 2 KA, one Almond C, one Spinach C and one Beignant...it put me at a little of $25. I'll still come back cause I want to support our locals!

Amanda C.

Yelp
They have the best pastries in the greater New Orleans area! My favorites include their spinach croissants and morning buns (like a cinnamon roll). Everything I've had there is simply delicious; crispy, flaky crusts with the best in-season ingredients made by extraordinarily trained and talented chefs. The couple that owns it is sweet as can be, and their employees are nice as well. Be prepared to wait to get served some mornings as there are often lines. You can call ahead and place your order ahead of time; super convenient if you want something they run out of or only make by order. Recommend this place 100%!!!

Tammy N.

Yelp
I don't wake up early often but when I do it's for La Petite Sophie Patisserie! They run out fast so gotta get there early lol. They have a good selection of french pastries and I can't wait to try them all, and believe me I've tried . During king cake season they also have their brioche king cake (it can be stuffed with pastry cream and strawberries) and the nothern French king cake gallete des rois!

Dana M.

Yelp
Love love love their legit croissants and pastries. I realize patisserie is an art and getting it right takes time and skill but their prices are a little high. This is a treat for us or I buy when we have company but it's too expensive for regular purchases. Price is the only reason they get 4 stars.

Billy F.

Yelp
I've had this place bookmarked for some time now. They close early during the week, so it's difficult for me to go there. I decided to swing by this morning (Saturday) since they were open. They make it clear that they are open until 4pm on Saturdays "or until they sell out". They did not have a huge amount of pastries left, but I did manage to grab a spinach croissant and a Kouign Amann w/ mascarpone. Holy cow, both were the real deal and delicious! I did heat them up briefly in the oven when I got home. The spinach filling is garlicky and quite tasty. I would have liked a little more mascarpone filling in the Kouign Amann personally; but still, I enjoyed both, and would definitely get them again. The almond croissants looked amazing, but I was feeling like something savory. It was about $11 for my two pastries, including tax. I feel it was worth it for the great quality. There are a few sit down tables, but I took my pastries to go. I wish they would have had more of a selection, but I get that they probably only bake a certain amount to avoid waste. I will certainly be back and recommend.

Beam C.

Yelp
Treat yourselves and go grab a pastry at this wonderful bakery! I went there for the first time to pick up their famous king cake and just had to buy everything else they have. Try their savory croissants--everything croissant with cream cheese filling hmmmmm--and their kouign amann.

Amanda C.

Yelp
The lamination, people!! This could also be written as 'the lamination people' because they execute folded pastry so perfectly. I got here around 9:30 on a Saturday and snagged the LAST chocolate croissant (what I originally went there for), the morning bun (a cross between a croissant and a cinnamon roll), an almond croissant, and the savory everything croissant stuffed with scallion cream cheese. The first thing I noticed about this place is that it's teeeeeny tiny. Just a few folks working in the back and a small offering of pastries- I appreciate this because it's overwhelming when you have too many delicious-looking options. The second thing I noticed was literally every. Single. Layer. Of dough in our pastries. I've literally only seen that in bigger cities and in Paris. The outside of the pastries were crispy and flakey while the inside was pull-apart chewy and very buttery (just the taste- they weren't immediately greasy). I like my almond croissants stuffed to the gills with marzipan and this one wasn't but it was still delicious. The morning bun was very interesting. Tasted cinnamon-y and had a caramelized shell that if I had crowns I'd need to be careful with. The savory croissant was for my husband and he ate it before I could try it. The star of the show was definitely the chocolate croissant. I'd read another review that said it was the best in the city and for me, for now, it is. Again, crispy on the outside, perfect pull-apart texture on the inside and plenty of chocolate- went all the way to the last bite. They run out fast so get there early and it's literally the farthest I've ever been in harahan so give yourself plenty of time. You can always call ahead to make sure they have them before you go.

Yelp
We found La Petite at the German Coast Farmers Market in Destrehan today and bought some plain croissants, chocolate croissants and almond croissants. Delicious, best I have had since I was last in Buenos Aires, Ar. Plan to visit their bakery in River Ridge next week and try some of their other offerings.

Lacey D.

Yelp
My husband and I had heard such good things about the pastries here, and were not disappointed. We bought an assortment- strawberry kouign amann , morning bun, almond croissant, and ham and cheese croissant. They were each delicious! Not too sweet, beautiful texture and flavor. I am definitely going to go back to try more items!

Ashley S.

Yelp
As you can tell by the photo, we couldn't even wait for the picture to dig into these pastries. A colleague brought these pastries into work and they were fantastic! The Kougin Annan are my new favorite pastry. I recommend the berry ones. If you want a delicious sweet treat you should go for these!

Phil P.

Yelp
This is my favorite bakery in the New Orleans area. I've been eating their pastries a couple times a month (or more ) since they started selling them at the Luling Farmers Market. I love their plain Kouign Amann, every variation of their Croissants, and their traditional French King Cakes. The kouign amann are sweet and caramely; the croissants are light and flakey on the outside with just the right about of pull (I can't think of any other way to describe it) on the inside; and their strawberry- and cream-filled King Cakes a delightfully rich departure from the more usual New Orleans style. My love for their pastries led my wife and I to ask them to cater our wedding reception at The Louisiana Children's Museum--a three "cake" affair involving Croquembouche, Trianon (a sort of chocolate mousse cake), and a white cake layered with fresh raspberries and cream. My wife and I sampled every single French bakery on the South Shore that was even willing to attempt Croquembouche and Trianon (difficult desserts to make and serve in Louisiana summer heat), and La Petite Sophie was the best, hands down. It's awesome that they have finally opened up a storefront, so I can get their delicious treats fresh almost any day I want.

Alyssa F.

Yelp
The best pastries I've ever had and always something new to try. Everything is flaky, buttery and delicious and the people are so nice. The Kougn Amman is my personal favorite!

Jennifer F.

Yelp
My daughter was determined to leave a treat for Santa, but being a non-baker, I wasn't about to go into Martha Stewart mode on Christmas Eve. Instead, I hopped onto the Yelp app while we were in Elmwood, searched bakeries, and found La Petite Sophie. Perfect! Situated in a very unassuming storefront, we drove past it the first time, but a simple U-turn on Jefferson Hwy got us where we needed to be. While there were no cookies (typical Santa fare), I was drooling over the pastries in the display. We were kindly given a sample of the Kouign Amann, but my daughter wasn't a fan (she's crazy - it was amazing!) so we ended up taking 2 morning buns. One for my daughter, as quality control, and one for the man in the red suit to enjoy after a long night of gift-giving. I received some feedback from Santa: The morning bun was delicious, and any goodies from La Petite Sophie put all of homemade cookies and things to shame. If you are in need of a delicious breakfast, dessert, king cake (it's almost that time of year), or even a Santa treat, put this place on your radar!

April C.

Yelp
I can see why there weren't any other customers in here. They only sell croissants (not the regular kind) so I got a chocolate almond one and like a cinnamon one. They were both hard as rocks, tasted like they had been sitting out for months. and they were 10$. this place was a rip off. and to top it off the clerk was very rude,I tipped him thinking maybe then he would be nice. but no, instead he laughed at me when I asked if I could eat at the table here. im really not sure how this place stays open its gross and it sucks!

Donita M.

Yelp
A friend brought over a selection of these beautiful pastries. Just to look at them made my mouth water. So perfectly crisp. Beautifully browned. I didn't wait to even make coffee to go with , I just devoured almond croissant stuffed with delicious dark chocolate..... mmmmmm cannot wait to go myself ! Wanted to go today but alas it's Monday and they're closed. WaH

Kristina T.

Yelp
I visited this bakery after seeing their win for best chocolate croissant on Instagram. I was greeted by an older gentleman who was very informative on each of the pastries. I purchased the apple and blueberry "pop-tarts," chocolate croissant, morning bun, almond "monkey bread" bostock, and kouign amann. They were all very delicious but I would have to say the chocolate croissant takes the cake. It was so buttery, flaky, and filled with delicious chocolate that wasn't overly sweet. I never realized how bad all the previous croissants I've had were. Now I'm afraid I can never eat a croissant from anywhere else again. Their win for best chocolate croissant was VERY much WELL DESERVED. Hopefully I will be in town the next time they are offer the beigant!

Meghan A.

Yelp
Oh how I love this petite patisserie. The Kouign amann is absolutely divine. The chocolate croissant is perfection as well. Thank you for opening this place in my old 'hood. I love visiting my parents, but I admit unabashedly that I tend to plan my visits around the days this little gem is open! ;)

Jenny K.

Yelp
We got a custom almond cake from here, and let me say it was delicious. You can defiantly tell they appreciate quality and simplicity. Our family has been going here since they first opened in River Ridge, and everything has been amazing since!!

Jerald G.

Yelp
Great French pastries. So glad I don't live close by. They are killers!!! Buttery, flaky, and sweet. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Glenn B.

Yelp
This bakery opened this week in River Ridge. It is a true French bakery as the bakers were classically trained in Europe. From flakey croissants to Kouign Amanns you feel like you are eating in Paris. They even have local favorites like shoe soles. If you are looking for a different experience try out this hidden gem in River Ridge! They also will have true French king cakes for carnival season.

Jessica N.

Yelp
This little bakery is so good! Friendly owner... it's located in a little strip in River Ridge. They make delicious croissants. On this visit I had a spinach croissant, a regular croissant, an almond croissant,a kouign amann, and a fresh brioche bun. Dear God, I was on a carb free diet and broke it. 10/10. Please come here. Everything was delicious!

Christine F.

Yelp
Okay. Looking for a bakery? Stop. Do not go past this review. We asked for a carrot cake for my mom's birthday. The baker said this was the only carrot cake she likes, and will eat. Do it. Don't hesitate. They are awesome. The most flavorful carrot cake. Pineapple and coconut added to the texture and flavor. Yep! I feel they are going to get more of my money. And we tried the pain de chocolat, too. Delightful.

Florine B.

Yelp
Just the best, and believe me, I have tried a lot of pastry shops around the city. The pastries are flaky and buttery, sweetened just perfectly

Jackie S.

Yelp
This is the best bakery in town! Everything they make is delicious. And the people that work there are so nice.

Wendy S.

Yelp
Oh my! We have tried almost every pastry here and they are all divine. We bring home a box and every time I walk by the box I have to take a bite. Not a good way to diet ... Having a box of pastries nearby that I can't resist. Just wish we had something comparable in So Cal.

Margie V.

Yelp
Wonderfully light and delicious French pastries. The apple/satuma 'pop tart' was one of the most mouthwateringly good pastries I've ever eaten.

Emily R.

Yelp
Just adding to my initial review to say I've had their french king cake and it is outstanding. Better than I've gotten at La Boulangerie in the past. Perfect flaky yet slightly chewy texture, bronzed, and not too sweet almond filling. It's a winner!

Cindy G.

Yelp
Pastry here is outstanding. The product is fresh and made with care. The Kouign Aman is so good it melts in your mouth and it doesn't matter the filling they are all good. The Mexican hot chocolate has a spice to it that makes it so tasty. The King Cakes are gorgeous and taste just as good as they look. The space is clean and bright and definitely they make you feel special and make you want to come back. I look forward to shopping and tasting their great food for a long time, hopefully!!

Megan C.

Yelp
Small selection but everything is executed PERFECTLY. Really a top notch bakery - if you're picky about pastries, it's worth the drive.

Susan H.

Yelp
Fabulous. I love pastry and have tried all the uptown spots but these win hands down as the best. The almond croissant were wonderful, and there were other kinds of French pastry with names I don't remember but my taste buds won't forget.

Mandy B.

Yelp
These are the best pastries in New Orleans, hands down. Definitely worth the drive to River Ridge. Their signature pastry is my favorite.

Armond B.

Yelp
After my initial experience, I was contacted by the owner, Jeff. Jeff was extremely pleasant and apologized about the confusion and wanted to make it right. (Always the sign of a place operated with great leadership.) Yesterday I showed up and had a great conversation with Corrine, Lya and Jeff showed up later. I had the kouign amann (pronouced QUEEN A MON) in the store (warmed is the best way to eat this!). It was outstanding. I've eaten at a lot of places, and can honestly say they are producing some of the best baked goods I've had. I also had the morning bun, pop tart, pain au chocolate and the ham and cheese croissant. Everything was terrific. Many of the items they make here are Viennoiserie - which are not at all easy to make, so you will pay for the level of skill required to make these items. And there are very few places in the city in which you will find a kouign-amann. I've had one at Dominique Ansel, and can assure you the level of quality is right on par with it. Top notch customer service. I'll definitely be back. I've already told people about it that want to make their way there. Go check them out!!

Mary M.

Yelp
Ooh la la, just like a visit to Paris. Delicious pastries and other foods in a charming setting.

Nancy V.

Yelp
One of the most amazing bakery you can find around a world class culinary city, New Orleans. Grab a Kouign Amann, plain or filled on your way to work will bring a smile to your face in rush hour traffic. Ham and cheese croissant is made with premium Black Forest ham and gourmet cheese. The menu is simple, sophisticated yet satisfying. If you do not live in the River Ridge/Harahan area, it is absolutely worth the drive to try it out. You won't regret it!

Marel M.

Yelp
Wonderful! Tried this bakery at the farmers market one Saturday and I tried them again at their beautiful storefront location. Both times the pastries were WONDERFUL and fresh!!! Highly recommended!!!!! Great customer service as well!
