Slow Start but the Food is Good. We were greeted and sat at a booth immediately upon entering. We found it odd that we were sitting without menus or anyone coming to our table for close to 15 minutes. After about 10 minutes we considered leaving but didn’t because I’d read other reviews about how good the food is. We sat there as multiple employees walked by but didn’t acknowledge us or bring menus. I know restaurants are busy but being acknowledged by a server as they walked by doesn’t take any time.
I’d already looked at the menu before we headed to the restaurant and knew what I was going to order but my husband prefers to look at the menu at the restaurant before deciding. If we’d had the menus, the wait wouldn’t have been as bad or knocked stars off of this review. A simple fix would be to provide menus when seating the table and letting diners know you’ll be right with them.
It seemed the entire restaurant was in slow motion. The service was very slow throughout our dining experience and our appetizer arrived at the same time as our entrees. All of the food we ate smelled great, was full of flavor, and prepared with fresh ingredients. We got the Garlic Shrimp and Mushrooms and it was delicious. I got the Lomo Saltado con fettuccine a la Huancaina and would get it again. It was a huge portion, I was only able to eat about half and took the rest to go. My husband got the Chaufas Especial. He described it as the best fried rice he’d ever had.
Unfortunately the food isn’t the only thing that guides our restaurant choices. Great service is just as important as delicious food when we choose a restaurant so we may try La Piccolina again at some point but won’t add it to our regular rotation.
