Where to Find D.C.’s Finest Focaccia | Eater DC

"As an essential all-day spot for rustic, wood-fired Italian fare, I find the focaccia at Piccolina among the city's best thanks to Amy Brandwein's expert technique and a 24-hour fermentation that develops the dough's flavor; Piccolina currently offers two excellent varieties — a pomodoro topped with tomato sauce, tomatoes, caciocavallo cheese, mushrooms, fresh basil, and mozzarella, and another with tomato sauce, spicy soppressata, caciocavallo, basil, and mozzarella — and Brandwein also occasionally serves a special Recco focaccia with stracchino and Parmigiano sandwiched between paper-thin dough rounds baked until the cheese oozes." - Eater

First time visiting La Piccolina and looking forward to our next visit already! Lobster Bisque and Minestrone soup were very good. The Minestrone had a great basil flavor and the Lobster Bisque was creamy. The Pollo Saltado was sort of a Asian Pasta flavor and unique! Really enjoyed and would definitely order again. The Fettuccine Chicken Alfredo was flavorful, without being too heavy, and had a large portion. After seeing some of the other food at other tables, we're looking forward to coming back and trying some more items on the menu!

My husband and I had the most incredible dining experience at La Piccolina Restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious - every dish was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. Our server was attentive and made excellent recommendations. The atmosphere was exceptional and comfortable. I can't wait to come back and try more items from their menu. Definitely a new favorite spot! If you would like to try a good Peruvian Food also an Italian food, I will highly recommend La Picolina to all my friends and acquaintances.

The food was excellent. Lotta flavor in the ceviche nothing overpowered each other. The octopus is highly recommended. The atmosphere is very very well. No pushing ass no hurry up sit down eat your food and leave. They’re very friendly very kind. The service was top-notch. A lot of other restaurants in Orlando need to take a note

I have had several great meals here (breakfast, lunch and dinner). They have a variety of options. Not everything it to my taste, but there is a lot that is and the variety is nice. We have discovered a few fun wines here as well.

Slow Start but the Food is Good. We were greeted and sat at a booth immediately upon entering. We found it odd that we were sitting without menus or anyone coming to our table for close to 15 minutes. After about 10 minutes we considered leaving but didn’t because I’d read other reviews about how good the food is. We sat there as multiple employees walked by but didn’t acknowledge us or bring menus. I know restaurants are busy but being acknowledged by a server as they walked by doesn’t take any time. I’d already looked at the menu before we headed to the restaurant and knew what I was going to order but my husband prefers to look at the menu at the restaurant before deciding. If we’d had the menus, the wait wouldn’t have been as bad or knocked stars off of this review. A simple fix would be to provide menus when seating the table and letting diners know you’ll be right with them. It seemed the entire restaurant was in slow motion. The service was very slow throughout our dining experience and our appetizer arrived at the same time as our entrees. All of the food we ate smelled great, was full of flavor, and prepared with fresh ingredients. We got the Garlic Shrimp and Mushrooms and it was delicious. I got the Lomo Saltado con fettuccine a la Huancaina and would get it again. It was a huge portion, I was only able to eat about half and took the rest to go. My husband got the Chaufas Especial. He described it as the best fried rice he’d ever had. Unfortunately the food isn’t the only thing that guides our restaurant choices. Great service is just as important as delicious food when we choose a restaurant so we may try La Piccolina again at some point but won’t add it to our regular rotation.

We are so happy we found a true Peruvian restaurant, our breakfast was delicious with truly authentic Peruvian flavors, can’t wait to come back for dinner! 🇵🇪 🇮🇹

Yelp
Absolutely our go to neighborhood restaurant. Love the pizza, light on the sauce heavy on the cheese. Great combinations of toppings. People are super friendly and polite, really a great place, large well decorated usually or noisy.

Yelp
We had delicious dishes at La Piccolina! The Peruvian-Italian fusion is great! The lomo saltado, arroz chaufa, and ají de gallina, papa a la huancaína and pasta were all super flavorful. The white sangria was delicious and refreshing, and even better with their happy hour special, 2 for 1! Service was top notch, attentive and friendly. The maracuyá cheesecake was very tart for me (so if you prefer sweet, you might want to skip it). Overall, great food, great service and casual and beautiful decor.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite places! My husband loves the pizza and I love the lomo Saltado. The service is fantastic as well. It's a family owned business. Support local! Such good food!

Yelp
Just left this restaurant we ordered empanadas and chicken soup and penne alla vodka, everything was terrible with no taste and not cooked properly, starting with our sodas! I never leave bad reviews and hate to do so and maybe I wouldn't have if the owners that were there cared enough to correct the situation or at least apologize ... the penne alla vodka was a joke something I've never seen in my life... to the point I felt disrespected now looking at reviews there are multiple bad reviews on this dish and they still haven't corrected it they simply don't care if customers come back they just want to charge you while your there it's very clear this family doesn't know how to run a business... My penne was over cooked and just sitting in water the dish could of passed off as buttered noodles. They must have fake reviews bc the food is terrible ! Still decided it was okay to charge me when I didn't eat the dish this place is a scam !

Yelp
WE LOVE LA PICCOLINA!! We have gotten both Italian and Peruvian dishes on various visits and everything has been DELICIOUS. The staff is so kind and it's a lovely little spot. The mushroom chicken pasta was the hit of the last visit, but the chicken parm and Lomo Saltado never miss!

Yelp
Please, for the love of humanity and all that is good, stop selling Lomo Saltado. Pick a cuisine, Italian or Peruvian. I ordered a Lomo Saltado for pickup via Uber Eats. The price was $27 a plate, but thankfully, they had a buy one get one free special. I can honestly say that this was the worst Lomo Saltado I've ever had. The portion was laughable, especially for the price. The food literally had no flavor. I had to add seasonings to make it somewhat eatable. My family and I ended up just eating half a plate as it was just not good. If you end up ordering takeout from this restaurant, learn from my experience and don't order the Lomo Saltado.

Yelp
Although the name sounds very Italian, the menu (which is extensive) is divided evenly between Italian and Peruvian foods. (They also serve American breakfast.) I wasn't sure the Peruvian food would measure up to other places in town, with all that Italian food competing for attention, but it was top-notch. We started with the fish ceviche, a generous portion of fresh fish with all the classical accompaniments. Next was a terrific shrimp causa, obviously assembled fresh to order. And we finished with the chicken chaufa. I suppose you could count this as a fourth cuisine, since it's essentially Chinese fried rice! Special shout-out to the house-made herbal crisps served with oil and balsamic at the start of the meal. They were great. The food and service were both great, and the space is quite pleasant. Maybe we'll go back tomorrow for Italian!
google avatar

Yelp
Everything is delicious. I've been here multiple times and every single time has been amazing. The ceviche, garlic shrimp, and octopus are our favorites ( we keep ordering the octopus other places thinking we are going to get the same and no comparison) for dinner beef sauted is a most , we also love the chicken or fish piccata, the lasagna and my son love the spaghetti meatballs. I'm always looking for fresh tasty and nutritious meal and this is definitely the place! Service is always great and ambience makes you feel as if you are in grandma's table. The place is clean, beautiful and cozy!

Yelp
This place intrigues me. Half Italian, half Peruvian, what could be better? I came in on a lazy Sunday, the restaurant was completely empty, so I walked towards the bar. It took them a minute to figure out I wanted to sit down to eat and I was not a food pickup service. They cleaned up the bar, someone may have been doing homework there, I don't know. There were lots of young people here, so I got the impression that this was a family restaurant. I placed my order and awkwardly got my cold appetizer with my oven hot entree. What's the point of ordering an appetizer if they will bring it with your meal? The food was good. I picked up good flavors. I had a causa de pollo, very well made and fresh. I also had a lasagna that looked like a baked tray of mac n cheese, not typical but not bad. I was also given a thin focaccia with a delicious balsamic, I have to say I enjoyed the balsamic. To end, I got a delicious chocolate cake "Peruvian style", it had dulce de leche. So, the food is good, the flavors are not uniform but I enjoyed the overstimulation. It definitely would take me another visit to really understand what's going on. And that's good, I guess, because I will be a repeat customer. Finally, even though this is a big space and it looks like a fancy restaurant, I experienced a family owned restaurant with sub par service. It is what it is, families don't train the kids to offer good customer service or maximize sales. Keep that in mind with coming here, depending on who is doing the service. Take it or leave it kinda place. And like I said, I'll be back.

Yelp
This is truly the best Peruvian restaurant I've been to in central FL. La Piccolina is a fusion of Italian/Peruvian dishes. Since the first day I visited, I told myself I would try something different every single time. Here I am, still trying new dishes every time I go! The service is exceptional! Everyone is friendly and the place itself makes you feel at home. When you walk in, it feels like you're visiting your aunts restaurant as it's very "homey". You will not regret trying this restaurant. It's definitely worth the drive!

Yelp
Prior to last night , I would have given them 5 of 5. Last night was a 1 of 5. Just yesterday, Made reservation for 5 adults with the restaurant. Arrived at restaurant and had to wait 10 minutes to get seated, with restaurant nearly empty with people at 3 other tables. Everything went downhill from there. Long delays for everything after 25 minutes in restaurant, placed food order. Food came out 1 hr 15 minutes later with no updates and no apologies for delays. The penne a la vodka was nowhere near description on menu that described creamy sauce and was to include bacon. It was just penne pasta with liquified tomatoes with ham chunks instead of bacon and tasted horrible. The Lomo saltado with fettuccini huancaina sauce tasted delicious . The Risotto with shrimp & tenderloin & chili sauce tasted good, but was cold. Nobody around to tell & no refills after food arrived. Another party of 4 was seated next to us. For the last 20 minutes we were in the restaurant, not a single person came to their table to at least take their drink order. After 2.5 hours later we finally left disappointed with this restaurant. Minutes later everyone our the family got sick from the food. Not likely to return anytime soon.

Yelp
Very good experience! We had the carpaccio, ceviche and a pizza and all were delicious!

Yelp
I've been waiting to try this place for months after seeing all the great reviews and reading the story on their website. We went up to the door. Some customer eating on the other side locked it as we were walking up. We realized there was a second door. WHAT!? Walked in. The SMELL was HORRENDOUS! Walked out! I don't know if it was a really nasty cleaner or a sewer issue. We couldn't deal with it. I was hesitant to post, but then noticed all of the inspection violations! Soooo..."could've been better" is accurate! Done with restaurants that use super-strong chemicals or don't know that their restaurant smells disgusting. A restaurant should smell like good food, if anything!

Yelp
This is a really cool restaurant that mix peruvian and italian food . You can find a Lomo Saltado, chaufa rice on the peruvian side and a really good pizzas and pastas on the italian one. Este es un restaurante realmente genial que mezcla comida peruana e italiana. Puedes encontrar un Lomo Saltado, arroz chaufa en el lado peruano y unas muy buenas pizzas y pastas en el italiano.

Yelp
Food is amazing. Staff are helpful, professional and so personable. A restaurant where you have delicious food and truly get service at your table. Never have I been disappointed.

Yelp
10 out of 10! FAMILY OWNED! Delicious home cooked authentic Peruvian and Italian food. One of the most wonderful meals we've ever had. We came for the Italian, but ended up going with Tanya's recommendations. We started with Grilled Octopus, that was total perfection. It came on a sizzling platter, with crispy skin potatoes and peppers, and fresh chimichurri to dip in. Then we had two Peruvian Risotto dishes, that were both unique, flavorful, fresh and to die for. Mine had porcini mushrooms, and a rich creamy Parmesan sauce, with a pile of yummy big shrimp. My Husband had a Yellow Pepper Risotto that was creamy and full of bold flavors. It was topped with perfectly cooked sirloin steak, and shrimp, with a gravy made of the steak drippings. Everything left us enjoying every single bite. What a treasure of a restaurant!

Michelle W.

Yelp
Did NOT enjoy our food! Gross! Pizza dry and had a weird taste from herbs! Lasagna dry and tasted sweet! Not good at all! My kids didn't even like the pizza! Hopefully they I will improve! Haven't been here long!!!

Linda O.

Yelp
The portions are HUGE! And for a Tuesday evening, it was pretty crowded. We didn't have a clue what to order from the Peruvian side of the menu, but the owners and other customers were very helpful in recommending dishes. Every appetizer, soup, entree and dessert were delicious! We had the best service and can't wait to go back.

Flemming J.

Yelp
We came by accident when we were driving by, but were we pleasantly surprised. This is a family restaurant serving both Peruvian and Italian cuisine. Owners are both Peruvian and had a restaurant in Peru serving Italian cuisine. So when moving to USA why not serve both Peruvian and Italian. I had Lomo Saltado, I have had this at several Peruvian restaurants, but this was far superior. We noticed a couple sitting next to us ordered a Pizza which looked great. So we came back two days later and ordered the pizza Winter Garden. It was as great as it looked, on thin crust which is our favorite. All in all a great experience and we will certainly make this our 'go to' restaurant.

Yelp
Amazing experience!!! 10/10 Italian Peruvian fusion restaurant, family owned and operated, food was delicious! for appetizers we had the grilled octopus, shrimp ceviche, flat bread bruschetta, papas a la huancaina; for our main meals we had the tallarín verde with steak, lomo saltado and thfour cheese pizza, for desserts we had the "merengon" (literally one of the best desserts I have had in my life) and Peruvian alfajores. Each dish was so flavorful. The service was great, very welcoming environment, positive vibes, it is evident they put a lot of love in everything they do. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended.

Yelp
TALK ABOUT AUTHENTIC......this quaint spot in winter garden is cute and makes some tasty food too. I can't say the service is the friendliest but it's def not the worst of the worst. I love the decor and the Alfredo, Carpaccio, and Pepper Steak. There is a nice bar with a lovely wine selection. It's a neighborhood favorite and see great things for this business future in WG. I look forward to trying their pizza on our next trip.

Yelp
Stop by to check out this place. Located in the Publix shopping plaza. It wasn't packed and was a bit slow. We got seated right away, but it took the waitress to provide water and to take order. They served complimentary flat bread with olive oil. The flat bread was pretty good and seasoned well. I ordered the Mashed potatoes with gravy and roasted chunk. When it first came out I was thinking it looked like hospital food or a frozen dinner plate. I wasn't expecting the roasted chunk to be that thin. The gravy was a bit salty. And I had a random half baby carry on my plate, which was a bit odd. Service could have been better.
google avatar

Elisa R.

Yelp
Sooooooo goood! I did the lunch express and enjoyed every single bite! For $12.99 you get a piece of focaccia bread- which was super flavorful, you choose an appetizer, an entree and a drink. I had the yuca with huancaina sauce as my appetizer and the tallarín verde con apañado de pollo for my entree. Tallarín is basically spaghettis in Spanish. 100% will be ordering from here again! Great quantity size, delicious food with amazing flavor for a great lunch price! Also if you go to dine in there inside is super cute!
google avatar

Andrea S.

Yelp
La Picccolina in Winter Garden is family owned & keeps family in mind with their cute little pizza making set-up for kids! Our kid had an absolute blast playing with the pizza ingredients, and at the end, they can go in the back & bake it for them to enjoy! In addition to that cool element, how cool is that Italian & Peruvian food are under one roof! I'm a quarter Peruvian & my heart fluttered when I saw Huancaina sauce on fettuccine pasta, now that's the ultimate fusion! Ordered: Wine-based Pisco Sour Ricca large pizza Jalea Peruana: fried calamari, shrimp, fish Lomo Saltado w/Huancaina Fettuccine This restaurant is a one-stop shop to make everyone in the family happy!
google avatar

Enrique R.

Yelp
An extraordinary welcome and service does not come without an outstanding menu. The Picolina offers all the best meals you could only find in Peru, until now that you can also find it in La Picolina of Orlando. The menu invludes many of the peruvian national plates like ceviche, causa, anticuchos, lomo saltado, arroz chaufa, arroz con mariscos, grilled octopus and many italian platea with a touch of peruvian flavors. ,It has a very friendly ambiance, just like the family restaurants from Peru, and Italy.
google avatar

Paulo I.

Yelp
Great food, we had llimo saltado, spaghetti carbonara and for appetizers tenderloin carpaccio all flawless. Also the juices were all fresh squeezed (lemonade & passion fruit) I will definitely have to come back with more appetite.
google avatar

Memphis B.

Yelp
My intention was to try the burger place next door but its either brand new or closed for remodeling hard to tell. Anyway the house made vegetable lasagna is incredible. Easily one of the best ive had, anywhere, ever. I also found the focaccia bread served first with EVOO to be delightful. Come check this place out if you're within a 30 minute drive its worth it!
google avatar

Yelp
I love this restaurant. Food is always excellent with a huge selection of Italian and Peruvian dishes. Very accommodating with food allergies. Every one here is super friendly.

Brandon H.

Yelp
What a delightful find! We visited Peru last year and have been on the lookout for authentic Peruvian cuisine ever since - and now we've found it ! Fabiola and her staff were all very friendly and the food was delicious. We'll be back soon for a Pisco Sour and dessert.

Yelp
Double date night width friends. The server was extremely polite and accommodating. We arrived at different times as one dining partner was late from work. She allowed us plenty of time to talk before even ordering any appetizers. The presentation of the appetizers was pretty incredible. The portions were generous, the food was flavorful, and the cost was reasonable. Each of us ordered a different main course. None of us was disappointed, yet each of us said everyone else's looked good. Again, the food was good, with generous portions, and cost was reasonable. The presentation of the main courses was less artistic than the appetizers. My wife's judge of any restaurant that claims to serve Italian food is the tiramizu. La Piccolina did not disappoint. The plate presentation was gorgeous. It tasted great without being heavy.
google avatar

Briana J.

Yelp
The only thing I love more than food is when it's served with love. The owner and staff at La Piccolina were so loving. They served us as if they were serving their families and I am adamant that that makes the food taste even better than it already is. I enjoyed hearing about the history of their cuisine, the fun facts like Peru having hundreds of types of potatoes, and a variety corn that are not sweet like ours. And most importantly to most I loved the food. My favorite items were the leche de tigre (tiger's milk), the pizza, the pesto pasta, and aji de gallina. If I could, I would bathe in the caramel that was between the cookies for dessert. It was so delicious. The waitstaff was so accommodating. I truly enjoyed my Piccolina experience. I'll be back for more!
google avatar

Renzo M.

Yelp
It's good to find a Piccolina in USA ! For those who are not familiar with La Piccolina, it is a very known restaurant in Peru that specializes in Pastas with a twist of our typical Peruvian flavor ! . We tried several dishes and they were excellent. The spaghetti with pesto sauce, the spaghetti huancaina, the pizzas, the carbonara, there were all good. I was surprised that there were serving some other typical Peruvian dishes that you don't find in the Lima locations, but since we are in USA you can't go wrong with having arroz chaufa, cebiche and papá a la huancaina ! Too bad I don't live in Florida but next time I am in town I'll stop by and visit

Maria Elena F.

Yelp
The food is quality and very good. The service is amazing! Love this family owned restaurant!

Yelp
I had an amazing breakfast and I am so happy to have this excellent peruvian/Italian restaurant near our home.. The chicharrón was perfectly cooked tender and crispy on the outside. The tamal was delicious just how they make it in Peru which is hard to find.

Annie C.

Yelp
This restaurant should be not be called a restaurant after the experience my family of 5 and I had. Absolutely horrible. Terrible service, did not get served for 1.5 hours, no refills, no apologies or even consideration from the staff. The staff avoided us the entire night, it was very obvious, they couldn't be held accountable for the terrible service and food. Got the penne al la vodka with bacon, HORRIBLE.... Was literally liquid tomato's mixed with oil and pasta, the bacon appeared to actually be ham chunks. Biggest waste of $120 ever, that total being for 4 meals, ridiculous. There is no excuse that could make up for the experience we had. Will never return.

Yelp
After seeing many reviews about this new Peruvian/Italian restaurant we decided to try it out. First of all, this used to be a portion of The Big Easy, it's amazing what they did with the place now that it's no longer part of it! It's very beautiful inside. The place was busy but we were able to get a table without reservations. They offered QR menus or physical. After we ordered we were given a think bread and olives in oil- delish! Appetizer: we tried the garlic mushrooms. These were big and fresh. They could have used a tiny bit more salt but they were still yummy. It came with a thin pita like bread. Honestly I felt it was better just on its own. Meal: after seeing reviews and seeing the orders coming out I decided to try the Lomo con fettuccine a la huancaina- the sauce on the pasta is made with a Peruvian pepper. Although he says chili in the description it is not very spicy, just a very slight heat which is great for spice wimps like me. The sauce was really yummy. The beef was cooked to order, I asked for medium rare. I didn't notice if it was correct but it was juicy and flavorful from the sauce it was in. My partner ordered the three pepper steak, this was not chunks but rather 2 smaller steaks also cooked to order. The sauce was creamy but good. He really enjoyed this. The meals were so filling we couldn't do dessert but I hope to try some next time. Drinks: we tried both the red and white sangria. Surprisingly the red is the sweeter of the two- both really good, but I think I liked the red Best. We also tried the Pisco sour and the Algarrobina. The Pisco sour is very refreshing and limey. The Algarrobina is thick and good but I couldn't finish it. Service was really friendly and even though we had an error on our check they took care of it right away. Look forward to going back and trying other items!

Yelp
We visited La piccolina on a Friday night for dinner. We were seated immediately and I got a sangria. I ordered a lomo saltado with pesto Peruviana, and it was so good! The meat was tender and juicy and very flavorful. The Peruvian pesto was balanced and creamy and delicious. I loved all of the food that I got. My roommate got the manicotti which was also delicious and made excellent leftovers the next day. We finished off our meals with an order of alfajores. I wish there was a little more dulce de leche in them, but it was an otherwise perfect meal! I love this place and will be back very soon.

Yelp
I have had this place bookmarked for a while. The staff managing the restaurant are very welcoming and nice. Unfortunately the youngish server seemed like she hated working. She took forever to get water out and likewise didn't check in upon receiving the entrees or app. It was an empty restaurant so not sure what the hold up was. Hopefully they can work out those kinks.

Yelp

Yelp
What a hidden jewel. My family and I drove over from Kissimmee and it was totally worth it. First of all, the drive took us 30 minutes, but it was relaxing & beautiful. Second, I've been known to frequent all types of restaurants, but this was my first experience with Peruvian - Italian fusion and it was simply delicious. Third, there was something for everybody. My husband doesn't eat a lot of seafood, so he had the Lomo Saltado with Risotto and loved it. My niece is a pasta-lover. She had the Pasta Bolognese and ate it up. I had the Ceviche with white rice which was delicious. Oh & the Mula Peruana was AMAZING!!!

Sharda S.

Yelp
The server barely spoke English and couldn't understand what we were asking about the menu (it was our first time there). Some things are not explained clearly and we had questions. They are quite pricey; we were shocked when we sat down and looked at the menu. We almost left but were too hungry so gave it a try. The food both my husband and I had were pretty good. The galina was mostly potatoes than anything else. And the portion was quite small for the price.

Yelp
I read so much about this place on a particular FB group that I decided to give it a try. Showed up and I waited by the door with family for over 5 minutes because nobody bothered to help us with sitting. We got our table and the waitress brought the menu and told us that it was a family restaurant sort of type and that food is made from starch and is really good... we started by ordering some some sangria, water and soda - just those 3 drinks took FOREVER! We ordered some appetizers because the waitress was keen on telling us how the food can take 30-40 mins plus. Got some soup and provoleta. Flavor was ok but I had a hard time with the provoleta because it came with 3 pieces of bread and it was definitely not enough for it. While we ordered our main courses: Arroz Meloso and Pizza(Mamma Mia) we decided to order another drink - a chilcano. The drink again took forever. The waitress removed by unfinished provoleta but left the empty soup bowl, the empty oil plate and the empty basket of bread on my table. The main courses were not really good. The arroz meloso was funny tasting and feel like it was extremely gui compared to how it should be and the pizza - I specifically asked her for no sausage and to replace with salami and yet I got sausage. The service was 2/10 and I give 2 just because the waitress was polite but she definitely didn't know how to service the table. Honestly I am very disappointed with my experience

Of course in true Yelper fashion, I'd already looked at the menu and knew what I was going to order but my husband prefers to look at the menu at the restaurant before deciding. If we'd had the menus, the wait wouldn't have been as bad or knocked stars off of this review. A simple fix would be to provide menus when seating the table and letting diners know you'll be right with them. It seemed the entire restaurant was in slow motion. The service was very slow throughout our dining experience and our appetizer arrived at the same time as our entrees. All of the food we ate smelled and tasted great, was full of flavor, and prepared with fresh ingredients. We got the Garlic Shrimp and Mushrooms and it was delicious. I got the Lomo Saltado con fettuccine a la Huancaina and would get it again. It was a huge portion, I was only able to eat about half and took the rest to go. My husband got the Chaufas Especial. He described it as the best fried rice he's ever had. Unfortunately the food isn't the only thing that guides our restaurant choices. Great service is just as important as delicious food when we choose a restaurant so we may try La Piccolina again at some point but won't add it to our regular rotation.

Yelp
Recently discovered La Piccolina & I'm obsessed A Peruvian & Italian restaurant all in one! Their menu is split in half for each side with some combinations of both countries. Their Tallarín Verde con Apanado was super delicious, and made to perfection The Chicken Parmesana was crunchy and freshly made! The Chicha Morada was also on point HIGHLY recommend

Yelp
We were there on a workday night and the place was busy. Good sign! The place has both Italian and Peruvian food so we got both. I like the Peruvian food better than the chicken parmesan. We also got the cocktail Pesco Sour. It tastes very similar to a vodka sour. Nothing special. The service is a bit slow but understandable. Will be back to try other foods they have.

Yelp
Very friendly service and a nice, comfortable ambiance. This was my 3rd visit and sadly, it was disappointing. It was a Friday night after 8 PM there was only one other couple in the restaurant. I ordered the chicken picata, it didn't have any lemon flavor or capers, instead just mushrooms and a "not that great sauce", the chicken itself was very rubbery. The pasta was a large portion but over cooked. My companion had the 'Mama Mia Pizza' and liked it very much. The first 2 times I ate there it was exceptional. Disappointed :(

Yelp
Scouted Yelp for something new for lunch! La Piccolina is just off the Hartford Marsh intersection next to the Publix. I ordered the Shrimp and Mushroom appetizer (needed some kind of acidic kick) and the La Piccolina pizza. It is similar to a Quattro Stagione in that it is four pizzas on one pie, but the La Piccolina pie has complex sections as opposed to the traditional version. This pie has a Hawaiian section, Prosciutto and Arugula, Veggie version and a four cheese. Crust is cracker like. I love the sauce! I will be back to try the Margarita pizza, some of the pastas, carpaccio and tiramisu

Yelp
La Piccolina is located next to the Big Easy on StoneyBrook West Parkway. I visited expecting to experience some new opening kinks but everything went smoothly. The staff was very friendly and the kitchen did a good job getting the food out in a timely manner. The table ordered a large Piccolina. ($21.99) We loved having the opportunity to try four flavors on one pizza. It was delicious and we all agreed that we would return to order this again. For entrees we went with Spaghetti Sugo ($18.99), Tallarin Verde Con Apanao ($19.99) and two Lomo Saltado Con Fettuccini A La Huacalna. ($39.98) The favorite was the Spaghetti Sugo.
