"In the old town of Valletta, among the major tourist attractions, an authentic and flavourful traditional Maltese cuisine is served in a simple and informal setting. Among the most successful dishes are pulled rabbit rigatoni, homemade filled pasta, Maltese stuffed marrows, pan-fried octopus, and Aljotta, the island’s typical fish soup." - Michelin Inspector

You could easily assume that this is just another restaurant in Valetta but you would be missing out if you pass La Pira by. The octopus stew was just amazing. I didn't get to give my compliments directly to the chef but if I had I would have asked how many hours went into preparation because it had the taste and texture of something beautifully slowly cooked. Would definitely recommend. Also shown are the rabbit rolls and the fried cheese. Both were simple yet delicious.

The food was one of beter one's of Maltese. The service was not very good. Pepole in this restavrant makes you feel that they dont wont you there. Tables are realy small and croudy. The foid it self was good. The baked potato is very spacy so just be aware of that if kids will eat it. We realy missed salad selection. Basicly you can get rucola with some small toamtos and cheese. I had a rabbit and it was good but very mild in taste 8/10 price 27€ and my wife had a occtopusse 27€ and would give it 7/10. Overall it was good food and bad service.

It was okey!! Friendly staff but quite rushed service. Food was decent but not mind blowing! One of the more expensive restaurant during our visit to Valetta. My first time trying rabbit, which was very interesting! Not quite my taste, but that does not affect my review! Im very happy to have tried it! The complementary bread was quite stale unfortunately.. Overall, a decent visit with decent fold and friendly staff, but I would probably not visit this restaurant again

Amazing service, friendly waiters, delicious Maltese food. I had a Maltese rabbit, very tender and tasty! Highly recommended. Waiters Shub and Lucca are the best. Big thanks for complimentary limoncello!

I didn't love it. Or like it that much. We had the Maltese special to start which was nice. It had good flavour lots of aromatics in the sausage. My partner ordered the past with chicken and cheese, which was very nice. I had the rabbit stew. Which I didn't like at all, the rabbit was dry and the sauce was over powering and restless at the same time. I'd recommend sticking with the pasta dishes. They seemed to be much better.

My wife and I visited here for a light lunch on a Friday, we wanted to experience some Maltese cuisine. Seating is outside on the pedestrian pavement, so you can watch the hustle & bustle of tourists like us go by. Service was good, we ordered swordfish tagliatelle and rabbit rigatoni, both were delicious meals and plentiful in portion. Bread and it was fresh, was complimentary to help clean the plate. My only criticism was the €8 Aperol, was weak and a light orange in colour compared to other places. Would recommend this place.

We have enjoyed our meal (octopus stew and Maltese fried cheese) 🧀 and we were especially fascinated by the exquisite taste of the olive oil that is served at every table. A big thank you to the Georgian waiters that have made us laughed!
