I have waited 72 hours to write a review. Consider that my cooling off period from the aggravation of them billing me twice and "misplacing" my credit card. That is never a good way to make a first impression.
The Maple Cinnamon Old Fashion was good, tasty, and a little light on the alcohol part, like dessert for the appetizer. I liked it.
It's a hectic place, with lots of running about. But doing little, it seems.
My friend and I were discussing orders; I asked if she had an interest in calamari, and before she could answer, the waiter, who must have been behind me, popped in and pitched their "tasty, almost no bread" product, interrupting our conversation inappropriately. Waiters are not meant to be intrusive, yet he was. I do not like the 'new best friend' school of service.
We decided on just a pasta dish for me, and she would have a cocktail. He twice asked of her, "...and nothing for you?" He acted as if he was somehow put off and didn't feel welcome at all.
So, as part of his presentation, he gives a little "warning" that the pasta will be like in the old country and 'al dente.' Sure, everyone says that. But you know what? There is also just undercooked pasta.
RIGATONI ALLA CARBONARA was large, thick-walled tubes undercooked, tough with thinnish sauce and a few bits of meat. Unimpressed, and did I mention not al dente, it's al undercooked?
$64 for two drinks and one bare pasta. The bread was extra, but the waiter didn't bring ours (or charge for).
Overall, Eataly feels like Disney did an Italian market, almost authentic but not quite real.
