La Pizza - Review - Union Square - New York - The Infatuation

"From the team behind Taralucci e Vino, La Pizza is a counter-service spot near Union Square selling Roman-style slices in varieties like cacio e pepe, pepperoni, and burrata with guanciale and truffle oil. The chef, a native of Rome, uses a 50-year-old family sourdough starter and ferments his dough for three days. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Bryan Kim

This was insanely good. The crust elevates this pizza from great to amazing. Also I really like how the bottom of the pizza has a nice bite to it — the rectangular pan it’s cooked on gives it a texture I haven’t really tasted in other NY pizzas. Highly recommend and I’ll definitely be coming back.

I’ve had Roman style pizza IN Rome and this was leagues better, which is saying a lot. The guy behind the counter was also a sweetheart and gave me my slice for free because the card machine wasn’t working.

The best authentic Roman pizza in NYC is crafted by the talented Chef Alessandro Fortini, a culinary artist from a lineage of Roman bakers. His pizzas feature a perfectly crispy crust—neither too thin nor too thick—and an array of delicious toppings, including both red and white options. My personal favorites are the Fortini (mozzarella, burrata, guanciale, rosemary, truffle oil) and the Salsiccia (Italian sausage, ricotta, and hot honey). They’re so exceptional that I had to ask Chef Fortini about the ingredients! As a regular at Tarallucci e Vino—renowned for its delightful breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, and Happy Hour —I’m thrilled that La Pizza is now part of this beloved spot. It’s a fantastic addition to an already stellar lineup!

This pizza is exquisite. I have not enjoyed pizza like this in a VERY long time. I've been here twice having the ham and cheese (to die for and loving the rosemary), the sausage and ricotta, margherita, fungi, and the Fortini. The last being a runner up to the ham. My first time there he had a pistchio & cranberry shortbread cookie I fell in love with that wasn't available this second time. I hope they make a come back soon. I let my son have some and now he's hounding me about giving him the location. It wasn't on Google maps until just recently.

Very tasty Roman style pizza and great service. I went on a Sunday around 4pm and had the Cacio e Pepe and the Fortini slice, both were delightful. The woman who helped me was super friendly, she told me all the ingredients which were clearly great quality, plus we just had a nice chat, which really makes it feel like a good neighborhood place. She suggested truffle oil on one and let me use the hot honey to my content on the other, and yum! It’s a fun slice spot, glad I went.

Such a cute little spot right off Union Square park, perfect for a quick bite! The crust is perfectly crispy yet soft on the inside, with just the right amount of chew. Toppings are fresh and generously applied, making every bite satisfying. The service is quick and friendly, and despite the fast pace, the quality never seems compromised. They also cater!! Definitely coming back!

Yelp
My boyfriend surprised me with two slices from LaPizza by Tarallucci e Vino; He brought me the Fortini (burrata, mozzarella, pecorino, guanciale, rosemary, and a touch of truffle oil) and the Salsiccia, Ricotta E Miele (Italian sausage, creamy ricotta, and spicy honey). Both slices were delicious, but the one with sausage was my favorite. I loved how generous they were with the sausage with big, flavorful chunks instead of tiny crumbles and the ricotta was rich, perfectly balanced by that drizzle of spicy honey. The crust deserves a shout out too; it had an almost airy crispness; It's the kind of crust that tastes like it's been carefully brushed with olive oil or butter before baking, rich, crisp, and full of flavor. Overall, you can taste the quality of every ingredient. Nothing feels skimpy or cheap; the cheeses are creamy and fresh, the toppings feel thoughtfully chosen, and the flavors come together beautifully. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates classic Italian flavors done right!

Yelp
This review is short and to the point but this pizza shop has some really good slices of pizza. Probably the best I've tried to date! Both slices i had were crispy, hot and delicious. I had the fortini slice with burrata, pecorino, guanciale, rosemary, truffle oil. And the salsiccia, ricotta e miele. With sausage. I'm planning on trying another slice from here soon. So worth it. The place was a walk up counter that I ordered from. I was served quickly. I will add more photos next time i stop by!

Yelp
I made a trip to La Pizza by Tarallucci to have Pizza and instead I had a Pinsa. A Pinsa is flatbread with a bit of cheese and a topping. I chose Prosciutto and Arugula. My Pinsa was hardly bad, but certainly not what I was expecting. My bill with a Club soda was $28. Thank U next!
