La Place de Mougins

"On the village square as the name suggests! Chic and pleasing are adjectives equally applicable to this charming restaurant and its cuisine, thanks to a passionate and creative chef. Month by month he gives pride of place to a succession of seasonal ingredients... celebrating the truffle, the asparagus and so on." - Michelin Inspector

La Place de Mougins – A Hidden Gem Worthy of a Star An exceptional culinary experience from start to finish. The service was impeccable: warm, attentive, and professional without being stiff. The tasting menu was a true delight, with every dish beautifully executed and bursting with flavour. Special mention to the egg and the ravioli, both absolutely sublime. This is the kind of place the Michelin Guide should take a closer look at. A well-deserved spot among the region’s finest.

Beautiful presentation, but fell short of expectations I had high hopes for this experience, and while the first four courses were genuinely delightful — fresh, creative, and well-balanced — things started to dip with the ravioli, which lacked the finesse of the earlier dishes. The main course (pigeon) was unfortunately a real miss — so undercooked it was practically flying off the plate. My biggest issue was with the seasoning throughout. The plates looked stunning, no question — but the flavours just didn’t match the visual impact, leaving the overall experience underwhelming for what should have been a standout gastronomic meal. Service was polite but not particularly attentive. Our table remained wet from condensation for most of the meal, as no coasters were provided for chilled drinks, and it was only wiped down once — right at the end. Crumbs and bits of food stayed on the table between courses, which is a detail you’d expect to be managed at this level. In a Michelin-starred setting, it’s often the little things that elevate the experience. Sadly, a few of those were missing here.

So charming and welcoming! We came to Mougins specifically to try La Place for lunch and it didn't disappoint. Service was most hospitable and attentive. Food was beautifully presented and everything tasted very good. We sat on the terrace and enjoyed seeing the afternoon atmosphere in this quaint town. Definitely recommend!!!

Really nice restaurant. Right in middle of Mougins village. Great food and service. All preparations were delicious and well prepared. A bit pricey as it’s easily 100€ and more per head depends on how much wine you have. A safe bet for a good French meal. Decent wine list too. Pomerol by glass was superb ( 18€ a glass ).

Michelin star level restaurant. Fine dining and great beautiful restaurant in the best spot of this magical medieval village. Every dish is carefully crafted and served to perfection. Great foie gras ravioli. Delicious Angus steak. The pigeon was very juicy. Delicious dessert..Bravo chef !!!

Fine dining? LOL I was genuinely appalled to discover that our food was served sealed in a slow-cook style plastic bag—a presentation that is completely unacceptable in any restaurant, let alone one that claims to offer a fine dining experience. There was no attempt at plating, no refinement in the delivery—just a plastic pouch dropped in front of us, as if we were in a cafeteria kitchen rather than a premium dining venue. The waitress said the chef will give us an apology but finally they just give us a packed cake as a compensation. What a laugh??

We are now regulars here and feel so fortunate to live close to a restaurant of this quality. True French Gastro. The quality ingredients, creative flavorings, impeccable presentation in addition to the elegant atmosphere and service make this place memorable!

La Place de Mougins is a culinary gem. The food was simply incredible, from its exquisite presentation to the divine taste. The service was excellent, with thoughtful touches and delightful tasters between courses. The chef personally visiting our table at the end was a wonderful gesture, adding to the already fantastic atmosphere. This restaurant is truly worth your time—an unforgettable dining experience.

Yelp
My favorite dining experience in France. Thank you to the entire staff and the chef & owner who took the time to check in on us during our lunch. It was an absolutely wonderful experience and I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Went here in July 2022. One of the top meals I have had. I had the Signature Tasting menu and it is a must. Everything was beautifully plated, every bite amazing after the next. Food melted in your mouth. The service was impeccable. My friend and I got to meet the Chef and take a picture with him as well. If you are in Cannes or near by, you must stop at La Place de Mougins. You will not be disappointed! Next time I am back in the area, I will be definitely be visiting again!

Yelp
When you think of a romantic evening in France in a magical little town, it's likely your fantasy embodies Mougins. We had such a fantastic meal at this little restaurant hidden up in Mougins. We didn't know where to have dinner so we decided to walk around and see what caught our eye. There were locals everywhere drinking, eating, laughing and dancing to the live music playing in the square. This restaurant seemed particularly charming in an unassuming corner with a nice view of the courtyard and people watching. We were able to sit down without a reservation. However the restaurant was almost completely full so I do recommend making a booking in advance. The menu here looked particularly intriguing. They had choices from a tasting menu, a la cart, or a degustation menu composed of mushrooms. We decided to order all a cart as we had done a tasting the night before and didn't love it. We asked if we could try the pappardelle from the mushroom degustation and they were pleased to accommodate this request, so we had it as a starter. The pasta was perfectly al dente and there were hazelnuts and mushrooms accompanying it. For the mains my husband got the local giant shrimp, and I got the turbo with soy sauce and vermicelli noodles. His dish was far superior to mine and unfortunately mine was very bland and boring. They noticed that I didn't enjoy the fish and were kind enough to remove it from our bill. They brought the most delicious petite fours and we headed to the glacier for some ice cream. It really was a dream evening. I highly recommend that you check out this spectacular mountaintop, walking town.

Yelp
One of the most memorable meals of our ten days in southern France. We were warmly welcomed for lunch on the elegant outdoor terrace and relaxed with a bottle of rosé while watching the surrounding street life. The well-coordinated service was friendly and attentive and we never had to so much as refill our own water or wine glasses. They served a wonderful amuse-bouche followed by a series of other complimentary small bites throughout the meal including petits fours in addition to the dessert we had already ordered. (You won't leave here hungry!) Be sure to wander around inside to see the world-class art work and photos. It does not get much better than this-- simply perfect!
