Was very disappointed with the waiter I had... Had to get up three times to get a refill for my drink and on the third time a girl from the kitchen told me to just pour my own. That was a first... He was more concerned with chatting it up with the girls back there and laughing then the people in the dining room ... This was around 3:00 p.m. very empty ...Food was bland but decent... Chips were really good but salsa tasted like I got the bottom compilation chunks of leftover salsa. But I left out of there so mad about how horrible my waiter was I will not be returning... This place must be living off of a past reputation because it did not live up to expectations.

We love this place, the food is outstanding and we have tried several items from their menu! Salsa is great, chips are warm, tacos I can't say enough about. Staff is super friendly, fast service and when you are ready to go you just go to the cashier and tell them what table number, makes it easy. Highly recommend.

Google
Incredible food and service here, would certainly come back to try more of their menu. The portions are large and the salsa and chips are some of the best in town!

Walked in at 3:20pm and half the chairs are up on the tables. Was directed to the booth closest to the doors and register. Its hot by the doors. Asked to sit at a booth further away. Told the area is closed...look I love this place for their food, but thats just terrible. I get it you close at 5pm everyday and want to get out at a decent time but its only 3:20pm on Friday. 3yrs ago: This place never disappoints! The Monterey fajita combo was on point! The beef fajita was so tender that it could be cut with a fork. The chicken was juicy and there were plenty of veggies an mushrooms. The portions are big, we shared this between 2 people and had a hard time finishing it. I absolutely love the chips and salsa. It's one of Tyler's well hidden gems.

Google
It was freaking awesome. The breakfast here is always so darn good! I always come for breakfast in the mornings when I need to have a nice meal. There always so kind too! Very friendly staff and environment. Breakfast tacos are a must try!

Google
So delicious 😋 😍 the service is super excellent they never be mad. They always so nice . And the food is high quality, the portions are good . This restaurant is awesome I love it . And is just 3 blocks for my house 🏠 more convenient for me. Feel bless with it. Love the MENUDO and parrillada pork chops.

Google
Traditional ground beef enchiladas,. Fresh taste.

Google
The service is good but the restaurant gets super busy so you end up waiting for refills and service. Thats the ONLY reason for 4 stars on service- they just need more help to cover in my opinion.

Yelp
I found a tex-mex restaurant in Tyler and oh how I've been missing some good proper tex-mex. The placed looked down home. Literally I think their home is attached to the restaurant. This took place at 10am so all the items were breakfast. Despite most of the tables being occupied, the service did not appear to diminish. I had the plazita omelette with ground beef. The portion size was appropriate for the price. The beef inside was well seasoned, of good quality, and brought plenty of flavor. The amount of cheese placed on top was plenty enough to classify it as tex-mex and made for a fantastic meal. The refried beans were not spectacular but were fine enough to make for good eating. Everyone else in my party voiced being satisfied with their selections and were happy. They don't have dinner hours, but I just know lunch here is banging!

Yelp
This is a pleasant place, nothing fancy, with friendly and efficient staff. We found the food plentiful and well priced. We thought the lunch sides--we chose taco carbonara and a chicken enchilada--a real bargain. The food: Chicken enchilada was excellent, but we may have erred in accepting the queso topping as the waiter suggested. A green chile, sour cream topping would have been perfect. The guacamole, thankfully, was fresh. The salsa was not to our liking--mostly canned tomatoes used with too few extra ingredients-- too sweet and not nearly spicy enough. The beef in the taco carbonara was tender but too salty. We agreed that another visit is necessary.

Yelp
Stopped into LA Plazita for the 1st time for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. Parking lot looking small in the front, but they have ample parking in the back. I tried their Huevos Rancheros Divorciados $11.99. Plate was hot and fresh and torillas were home made and authentic. Plate was Super Yummy! Restaurant was super clean and our waiter was awesome. I will definitely have to come back to try their lunch options.

Yelp
We were shopping next door at the Bluebird Farm Stand and just happened to see La Plazita as we were leaving the other shop. We hadn't been here before so we decided to give it a try since it was so close. Boy am I glad we did! YUM! We started with the Queso and the guacamole as well as the chips and salsa. Super impressed with the guacamole- tasted fresh and not packaged like a lot of places where it's loaded with lime and just junk. This had fresh onions, tomatoes, cilantro...so good! My hub got the carne asada and said it was the best he has ever had. Tender, well seasoned and delicious. The rice and beans were outstanding as well. I got a cheese enchilada, a fajita wrap and a side of charro beans. All very good, but the CHARRO BEANS...OMG. Next time we go (and there will be a next time very soon!), I just want a bowl of those beans and some of their very tasty tortillas along side because I could make a meal of a big bowl of those amazing beans!! So glad we stumbled on this place because now we have a new favorite place in Tyler!! Excellent service too!!

David M.

Yelp
Awesome breakfast and the red and green sauce were so good. Huge portions. We will be going back soon

Yelp
We had lunch fajitas. They were fantastic. Chips and salsa was excellent, service was great. The building was clean and had great ambiance

Yelp
Great Tex Mex, like South Texas, friendly and warm staff, excellent Tex Mex breakfast, desayuno, good tortillas and coffee.

Yelp
I've recently started eating here for breakfast and now it's one of my favorite go-to places for juevos a la Mexicana. I order it with bacon and beans with flour tortillas. This morning it came with five slices of very tasty bacon, the most bacon ever from any restaurant anywhere. The beans had melted cheese on top as well as the eggs with its trio of jalapeños, onions and tomatoes. The only minor gripe I have is with the flour tortillas. They get hard very fast after they're brought out. My friend and I waited a few minutes for a table since they always have a good morning crowd. Once seated a server came by about three minutes later and took our drink order. She returned promptly and took our food order. As busy as they were the food came out to us in a reasonable amount of time somewhere between seven to ten minutes. Once we had our food the server never came back to check on us. I had to flag down another employee to fetch a to-go container for my leftovers since I could only eat half of the generous portions of eggs, beans and bacon. The ambience fits the small to medium dining area uncluttered with a lot of curios other Mexican cafés seem to think are required. In the final analyses this place is worth going to for a great and hearty breakfast in a fairly reasonable price range.

Yelp
Just enjoyed a delicious, heartwarming breakfast here. Definitely a great place to stop if you're around! Thank you.

Yelp
Driving through Tyler, I spotted a sign that said "Breakfast". We don't normally eat breakfast, but I pulled a u-turn and pulled into La Plazita. Upon entering this brightly decorated Mexican restaurant, we were quickly greeted and seated immediately at about 9:50. We were quickly greeted by our server, Mayra, who asked us what we would like to drink with a big smile. After ordering 2 coffees, I asked he the difference between two items from their menu, Guerrero Scramble and La Plazita Scramble. She said "let me tell you, those two dishes are very spicy! One is green and the other red". I looked back at the menu and sure enough the La Plazita said green and the Guerrero red. I said "Gringo beware" with a smile and she smiled back and said "Very spicy ". I ordered the green and my wife the red. The meals were spicy but delicious! We loved it.

Yelp
This place is absolutely delicious!! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, which was the three enchiladas and the southwestern chicken breast meal. Very good food and will be back for more ! The service was also very good. Can't wait to go back ! Came back for the second time on Sunday. We had to try the menudo. It hit the spot, good and warm for a cold day.

Yelp
Good food!!!Good customer service and reasonably priced!! Some of the best Mexican food I've had in my life..
google avatar

Betsi H.

Yelp
I love everything they make, ok, not a fan of menudo, but especially love the stuffed bell peppers! Both chicken or steak are amazing and have to be low in calories if you order ala carte!‍ Regardless, food, service and prices are great! I'd recommend to anyone! If I had to say one con it would be that their homemade refried beans can be on the salty side. But not enough to change my five star rating. I'm a gringo, grew up in CA on Mexican food, and LaPlazita is the most authentic Mexican food in Tyler!
google avatar

Yelp
The red, white and green enchiladas are amazing. The breakfast they serve is equally good

Yelp
This place looks so cute from the road I decided to stop by, it looks like a cute outdoor seating area, but I choose to eat inside due to the heat. Upon entering, I was like yikes, doesn't look like it what you see from the road, but I decided to stay. The chips were wonderful, very thin and perfectly fried, loved the salsa. I got chicken locos tacos and I loved them. I will definitely be back. I plan on trying them for breakfast. Staff I encountered were super nice. If you don't mind a very low key appearance of the restaurant but care more about good food, I would recommend.

Yelp
Best fajitas in town hands down. Everything here is great, family atmosphere. Family owned and authentic Mexican food. Really love this place I'm cheap so I don't get to go much but you get what you pay for! Regular salsa isn't my bag but ask for the green and that is good! I haven't found anything I didn't like at this place besides the regular salsa. When family come to Tyler I always try to bring them here and it comes highly recommended.

Jenny L.

Yelp
Love to eat here. Very nice staff and clean! The food is always good. I've noticed most people that don't like the food are the same people who like chain restaurants that serve Tex-mex lol smh example jalapeño tree their food taste like TV dinners lol
google avatar

Danielle A.

Yelp
The food is amazing and made fresh to order! Staff is friendly. The atmosphere is comfortable but does have quite an echo when there is a lot of people. The enchiladas are the best I have had in this area!! The kids plates have plenty of food. Fajitas, pork chops, enchiladas, quesadillas, tacos!! Homemade corn and flour tortillas! It's all very good!! The only complaint I have is their hours...they have weird hours and close early during the week.
google avatar

Amanda G.

Yelp
Amazing. A customer of my husbands recommended we try it if we like authentic Mexican food. The food and service is wonderful. Worth the drive for us. We had the 3 color enchiladas. I had beef and the hubs had chicken and both are amazing.
google avatar

Jen M.

Yelp
My favorite Mexican restaurant, hands down! I'm from out of state and we can't get authentic Tex-Mex like this in North Carolina, so my husband and I always eat here when we're in town visiting his family. The staff is always friendly and the flavors amazing. It was my first time trying the carne asada but it won't be the last!
google avatar

Amber B.

Yelp
Fav mex food. Service can be slow but it's well worth the food. Wouldnt get the quasi. I always stick with any of the quesadillas ur sour cream enchilada. I had breakfast there for the first time last week, I let was huge and filled with goodness!

N Q.

Yelp
Solid 4 stars. Good food, clean, reasonable prices, prompt service. Had the pork tamales and a trio enchiladas.

Justin M.

Yelp
Great food and service....when they are open! Hours are different than most restaurants, but with all that has gone on in the past few years I am glad they are still open. However, their hours are "open until 5" and I went yesterday at 4:15 and all chairs were on tables and it looked like they were already closed. Again, great food, but inconsistent on hours!
google avatar

Traphena L.

Yelp
So good, I get the sour cream enchiladas every and crave them. You know the food is good when it's memorable. The service is quick and I enjoy the chips and salsa. This may be my go to stop when on this side of town.

Yelp
Not as good as I'd hoped. Really wanted this to be better, but it's near the bottom of my Tyler Taco Tour. Why? Taste and texture fell quite flat. Ground beef had no pizzaz or savor to it. The taco was soggy and wet with the toppings leaking all over. I picked it up and it peed all over the plate. I tried a cheese enchilada. It was not good. The cheese paste on the top was cheap canned oily-paste-like cheese product. Not a good rich Mexican-style cheese I would like. All in all, this place might have been good at one time, but that time is not today. Rowdy and Fuzzy's taco joints beat this place by a Texas mile. Finally, I was really put off that I couldn't order a la carte... I wanted a taco and an enchilada - nothing more. Instead I had to pay for the lunch specials @$ 6.99 and deal with rice, beans, chips and extras I really did not want. I ended up spending twice what I wanted and wasting all sorts of food. I'm really disappointed - I've been anticipating this place for a long time: It's not in my usual stomping grounds in Tyler - I set aside extra time and made a special trip for this. Very bummed.

Jody J.

Yelp
A crew from my office eat here several times a week. The chips and salsa are amazing and the tacos are great! I have eaten most everything on their menu and have yet to be disappointed! See y'all for taco Tuesday!
google avatar

Linda B.

Yelp
The food is good, but not super flavorful. I had to add salt to everything, including the salsa. It's probably one of the better Mexican restaurants in Tyler though. Their service is lacking, but that's because they get a lot of business and don't have enough servers, but they are all polite.
google avatar

Brian J.

Yelp
I have been on a taco kick lately so when we went to Tyler for the weekend I wanted to find a nearby place to get some tacos. The existing reviews for La Plazita were good so we went on in. The building was fairly new and the people weren't rude at all, but not overflowing with niceness either. I ordered the taco dinner plate with two al Pastor and one chorizo taco. Both varieties were very good, but the al Pastor was the better of the two. Make sure to ask for the "green sauce" if you like a little spice. It's got quite a kick. All the food was very fresh and had a homemade feel to it. I would definitely go back again if I return to the area.

Yelp
Had a great Breakfast at this little Hidden Jem. Food was Hot, Fresh, and Delicious. Our server was a youngster and seamed to be interested in other things than us. But she got a nice tip hopefully to influence her smile for next customers. Place was packed. We're are going back today ! Big Fan please come check them out, if your old school Mexican Restaurant Fan.

Yelp
Great salsa, some of the best. Had the Fajita wrap and was very good. Good fast service!!!

Zarquala M.

Yelp
Love this place . Food is made fresh . Green and red salsa are good. I've heard from several people that the breakfast is great. The prices are reasonable . You can get lunch fajitas for $8.99. It's seat yourself for those who visit for the 1st time. They can also accommodate large parties. There is a patio and also additional parking in the rear.

Yelp
Good Food, Good Atmosphere, Friendly Service. I highly recommend visiting La Plazita in Tyler Tx.

Yelp
The food is fresh and delicious! The guacamole is fantastic! Great service too. This is definitely a hidden gem in Tyler if you like mexican food.

Yelp
We have been a fan for a long time. The food is good, but especially the Mexican breakfasts. However, the service can be very slow. And they don't pay attention. In spite of the sloppy service, we keep coming back.

Felecia N.

Yelp
This is my go-to place for Mexican food! Love the tacos, green sauce and lemonade. The staff is friendly and the food is always fresh!

Yelp
Has been a while, maybe month, since last here. RB and me in today for lunch and one takeout. I had Fajitas Burrito in Chicken and thought it was real good. Orchata to drink which is always a favorite if available. Always great service here from entire staff and obviously a popular stop for local lunch crowd, and is near the east side of airport for our convenience. Thanks folks. Well done always here.

Yelp
La Plazita f'n nailed it! I came in here for a late lunch, and was immediately greeted, then seated. The lone server brought me some chips and salsa, while I perused through their menu. The salsa was unique, as it was somewhat sweet. It was damn tasty, as I devoured almost all of it, while I waited for my entrée. For my entree, I went with the California Quesadilla. This was definitely unlike any quesadilla I've ever eaten before. It was more like a burrito, filled with seasoned fajita chicken, cilantro, pico, avocado and cheese. Absolutely amazing, with awesome flavor! Friendly service, great food, and good sized portions. I will definitely be back for lunch. Soon!
google avatar

Preston V.

Yelp
You poor people! I hope these reviews are made by the staff, but due to how illiterate everyone in the place is I highly doubt it. We ordered a bowl of queso that we had to remind our waiter to get. When it finally came to is it tasted like shredded cheese and milk mixed together. Disgusting. I got the cheese chimichanga and the topping was nothing more than canned wolf brand chili. After squeezing out a gallon of grease I decided to stop before I got sick. The other person with us got the cheese quesadillas. All I could do was watch the stream of grease hit the cold beans underneighth. Do not go to this place if you care about things such as health or possibly sanitation. Judging by these reviews it doesn't make a difference, though.

Yelp
Came here for lunch and they took a looooong time and it was from the "lunch" menu, prices are way to high for the food quality also our server was never around. I was late to go back to work :/ thanks to this restaurant So not recommended if you in a hurry!!
google avatar

Savannah S.

Yelp
Excellent service and the best Mexican in town !!!!! Especially if your not fond of texmex.
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
The food was good and nice sized servings. My waiter was nice and took good care of me. The menu is a little pricy but there are some items that between 8.99-12.99 and it goes up from there. The onIy thing missing was a margarita. I would come back again.

Rick D.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch... enchilada combo was delicious. Outstanding salsa and warm light and crispy chips kept coming. Super clean and very easy on the pocketbook.
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite Mexican restaurant , authentic and great service and staff! Prices are really great and I love the intimate setting. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants the best .

Yelp
This place was OK. When I first walked in, there was no sign regarding 'seat yourself' or 'wait to be seated' so I stood there for bit, confused as to what I was supposed to do. There counter where you pay at exit is a window to the kitchen area near the entrance that made me think I had wondered into another dreaded counter service restaurant. Finally, a young man walked around the corner and asked "Can I help you?" I responded by asking if it's seat yourself or wait to be seated and he seemed surprised I was there to eat! Not a good sign! He was certainly friendly enough as he and another very friendly waitress waited on me during my visit and I can't say I had any issues with service other than a little confusion as I walked in. Like others have noted here, the salsa is a bit sweet but not too unpleasant. Chips seem like they came right from a bag. I ordered some chili con queso to start and it was worth it. As far as the green sauce goes, thanks to the yelpers that pointed that out. Definitely the star of the show tonight... and yeah, it kicks. I ventured out of what I would typically order at a Mex place and ordered fish tacos. I enjoyed the fish tacos but they didn't hit it out of the park for me. I did like the rice but thought the beans were a bit runny for my tastes. In all, since it's so close the airport, if I'm back in town I'll probably come back by but I'm going to try some of the other items mentioned here by the other yelpers.

Debbie B.

Yelp
Awesome food for breakfast and dinner! EVERYTHING we have had has been EXCELLENT! Love the food clean place and waiters are excellent too! Sour cream enchiladas are one of my favorite!!! Try it you won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
My mom and I were trying to find a spot for lunch when I remembered a friend had recommended this place. If the front parking lot is full, pull around to the back. If the look of the place isn't as fancy as you are looking for, close you eyes and smell the homecooking. The salsa had a great flavor with just a touch of heat. Neither of us were starving so we split the fiesta enchiladas, with chicken. They didn't charge a 'split fee' like most places do. I was getting my half off of the plate and the enchilada was so heavy i thought i had grabbed both! The food was seasoned great and the flavor was spot on. The prices are very competitive and now i now why the parking lot was full! It's away from any main stores, but well worth going out of the way. We can't wait to bring our husbands back!
google avatar

Yelp
I had the pork tacos locos which were wonderful. Be sure you try the green sauce. They also have several different agua frescas. Very refreshing on hot summer days.

Yelp
Attempted to call in an order for breakfast but the phone was off the hook for almost an hour. I ended up having to drive there place my order and wait. The food is well worth it but I had to stop what I was doing to go up there and wait.
