Yelp
I stayed the last two nights at the La Quinta Inn and mostly enjoyed my experience. I was extremely pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel. It has newly been renovated and looks great. The rooms look modern with Texas sayings in them, the bathroom has a big shower with a heavy rolling door (which I loved), the complimentary shampoo and conditioner is Pantene, the beds are the most comfortable I've ever slept in, and the pillows were so nice I went digging through the pillowcase to try to determine the brand to buy when I return home. I was very impressed. I had several pleasant experiences with the office staff and in the evenings, they offer free cookies around 5 pm. In the mornings, breakfast was awesome: scrambled eggs, bacon, boiled eggs, cereal, a cappuccino machine, and TEXAS-SHAPED WAFFLES. And it was complimentary! I really enjoyed my stay and raved about the beds and pillows to my friends and family. The hotel is also a great proximity to downtown, Dealey Plaza, the Red Museum, and Reunion Tower. It is also very close to a DART light rail station, which brings me to why I deducted a star...
This hotel is about a two minute walk from the Union Station stop on the DART light rail, which is a very sketchy stop. When arriving to the hotel from the DART station, I felt very uncomfortable at night and called concierge to explain to me how to walk to the hotel and he just kept saying, "It's right across the street. It looks like a hotel. I don't know what to tell you." The east side of the building is extremely well marked with a huge "LA QUINTA INN" painted on the side, but the west side facing the DART station has no marking AT. ALL. to indicate that it is the La Quinta, which is very problematic if you have never visited before, especially at night. This made my first impression of the hotel very negative, which I reevaluated once I had calmed down from the dodgy train stop. If this had not occurred, I would easily have rated them 5 stars.
