Salteñas taste amazing, I have been grabbing empanadas as taste tests when visiting my family in the OC and tried these today! Very delicious along with the cheese empanadas highly recommend!

Bolivian Salteñas are bomb!!!! Those are the ones look like empanadas I love the beef ones better. When we come from NorCal we always gotta stop on the way back

I really enjoyed eating their salteñas(Bolivian meat pies). It's like an empanada but with a juicy stew inside that has meat, potatoes, peas, boiled egg..). The dough that the empanada is made of is my favorite, a bit sweet. Doesn't perfectly match the flavors from the salteñas from Bolivia where I am from, but they are still very tasty 😋. Their "llajua" (Bolivian hot sauce) is tasty, needed to be a bit spicer for my taste. In the past I have also bought frozen salteñas from them to take them to northern california and my family really enjoyed them. Just place you order ahead of time and buy dry ice. They also have api(purple corn hot drink) and cheese empanadas on the weekends, which i really enjoyed eating as well as Mexican pastries or pan dulce. Tip: eat salteñas while they are hot😋

This is during the pandemic, so they don’t sell their other typical Bolivian food. For those who know what “Api” is, it is only sold on Sunday’s, did not get to try it-bummer. Now the salteña was really good, the whole point of stopping here. I have not had one since over 15yrs. The dough is just right, a little sweet with the filling done right and savory. I do think it was overpriced at $3.50 each one. But I guess for being here in LA and not near anywhere else, they gotta make that money😎, definitely worth it instead of probably waiting another 15yrs 😆. Try it!

If you've never tried Bolivian food then this is the place for you. On any given day you can have the salteñas which are similar to empanadas but way way way way better. On the weekends you can try traditional Bolivian dishes. Service is very friendly and the prices are reasonable. I recommend it if you happen to be in the area and if you aren't, I recommend trying Bolivian food.

The deli is nice and clean always. The Bolivian Salteñas are as authentic as being in La Paz or El Alto!

Visited this place during weekdays. Did not have the chance to try other dishes since plates were available only during weekends. The 3 star rating is for the Salteñas I ordered which were not hot, it less than warm.... more towards cold side. Guess, I'll stick to my other favorite Bolivian restaurant Bebas instead.

My friend is Bolivian and he catered these saltenas for his birthday and EVERYONE loved them. I ended up finally coming here a year later to buy the beef saltenas myself and they were just as amazing as I remembered. They're like Bolivian empanadas. They're super flavorful and juicy, and one is big enough to satisfy my hunger (but it's tempting to eat another one!) I will say that I couldn't find a menu so I'm not sure how consistent their prices are or if they change it up when they like. They're also cash only. I came in thinking they'd be like $3 each but they ended up being $4.75 each - luckily I had enough cash on me.

These are a blast from the past... they taste like my childhood. One bite of these describes a million memories. Served by a good man from La Paz ! That's where my grandpas from and the service was excellent! The vibe was cool, I felt very honored to be here. Being a 2nd generation I love to see business with bolvians running it. I married into a Bolivian family, and we come here for one thing and one thing only, saltenas. I had never heard of a saltena before. Once I had my first one I was hooked. We used to split getting our saltena fix from Beba's and her, but the past two years we strictly have come to the La Rancherita. These are always delicious, hot and never disappoint. The outside of the saltena is a sweet, pastry type bread that is knotted and crunchy on top, soft on the sides. The center has the meat mixture that ties it all together. Only drawback is that over the past few years they have gotten smaller and gotten more expensive. Last weekend here they were $4.50 each. Inflation and shrinkflation hit at the same time. Cash only, so make sure you have some before you arrive. If you have the chance, call the order in so its ready for you. Since we come from out of town, we always call in so they can either be piping hot or sometimes we order them frozen for us to make at home. Also, the parking lot is super tight. I like to just drop someone off to pick up.

Quality empanadas, great staff, be sure to order ahead for large orders and don't forget cash.

Best saltenas I had in USA. The service is great. They had them fresh in the morning and to take out and bake them at home.

My mother in law likes the fresh bread from here for when she makes certain Mexican sandwiches. They make them fresh daily and you can always get them fresh out of the oven. Only draw back is that it is hot as hell in the bakery. Get in and get out quick or you might boil. :)

Customer service is bad. Saltenas are okay. The lady who helped me last time was mean more likely I won't be coming back just because of that. I'll go to another saltenas place wheee they greet customers in a nice and kind way.

I have always bought my Rosca de Reyes bread here. Since a couple of years ago, their bread is super dry. They charge so much for the rosca. I am being ripped off by the quality of it. The rosca used to be soft, fluffy, nice sweet taste of pineapple and oranges along with other fruits. Now, it is dry and stale without those fruits and ingredients.

Obviously here for the saltenas. They did not disappoint a little spicy a little sweet just fantastic. Be careful. The filling is steaming hot. Do not sleep on the spot it is that good

I have been on the lookout for salteñas in the U.S. after living in Bolivia for a bit in childhood and FINALLY found it here!! I don't frequent latin bakeries, but there weren't really any flashy display cases but they had pics and some stuff on racks around the store. The clientele are locals and the person behind the counter spoke both english and spanish. Now the salteñas- not to be dramatic but i almost cried after the first bite (bc of nostalgia lol). The pastry tasted JUST how i remembered- slightly sweet and crusty- cooled and hardened outside but soft inside with the soup. We got it right when it came out so it was piping hot. They only have one protein filling which is beef (alongside the sauce and bits of veg). It seems like they only make a certain amount each day. I went on a friday afternoon and the batch was in the oven so we waited about 15 mins. I have a friend who went in the afternoon and they were told they only sold them in the morning. I'd suggest to call ahead if you want salteñas just to be sure. We also got some cheese empanadas which were pretty good but I wouldn't get it again (would be good if you heated it up i'm sure)

Love this place!! The Solteñas are a typical Bolivian pastry similar to empanadas. They are meat filled with a slice of hard boiled egg, potatoes, steak, peas all of that inside a slightly sweet dough made of deliciousness!!!

This is a cash only bakery and I came here for one thing, and one thing only, their "Salteña". They are warm and fresh! There are chunks of meat, not grounded, a slice of egg and peas. I love the crust! Be careful with the soup, better suck and lick it, you don't want to waste it!

Nice quick stop for Pan Dulce or Tres Leches. While a lot of Mexican bakeries close earlier in the day, La Rancherita Bakery closes at 10 pm, so if you ever have a post-dinner craving for Tres Leches cake this is a great option. The Tres Leches cake isn't as sweet as other places but definitely satisfies the desires for milky sweet cake if that's what you want. And at $5.50 a slice it's not going to break the bank either.

The salteñas are to die for! They are empanadas made out of sweet corn stuffed with soupy ground beef and veggies. They were so deliciously messy good that our party of six did not give me time to take any pictures! I highly recommend it!

La Rancherita was recommended to me by the other Bolivian at work. I happily had teh occasion to be in the rea and swung by to order their saltenas. I was impressed. They reminded me of Bolivia. Some saltenas, like at Pao's in Van Nuys, do not remind me of Bolivia. These tasted just like the ones I remember from my dad's hometown. The empanadas are of cheese, and are just like you would get in the morning. Don't confuse them with Argentine empanadas; they are different things. If it wasn't so hot this weekend, I would make an excuse to get down to Santa Ana for some saltenas.

The worst bakery and experience I've ever had, the lady was extremely rude and racist. I was excited to purchase Saltenas and completely disappointing with the customer service. She ignored me and would not help me to purchase bake goods nor place an order. If you are looking for Saltenas- Go to Bebas Restaurant 1909 East Lincoln Ave. Anaheim, CA 92805. They are much kinder to their clients there! El peor servicio al cliente que e tenido en mi vida. La señora extremadamente mal educada y grosera. No quiso venderme Saltenas porque dice que estaban reservadas para otra persona. Quise ordenar para otro día y no quiso atenderme. Era mi primer y ultima vez que voy a la Rancherita bakery. I was so excited to come here to try some saltenas. I was disappointed the empanadas, I got a cheese one and it was super dry. I guess because it was baked, I am used to fried ones. The saltenas were delicious though! The inside of the bakery was very small with a few table to sit. It had a very homey-feel to it, as if you are in someone's house. It is better if you speak Spanish to order, but I think some of the employees speak English. It didn't lead up to expectations. I am not sure if I would go back.

I showed up towards the end of the day because a friend had told me the sell Bolivian Saltenas here and I love Saltenas. They're super hard to find and back home in Vegas you can't find them anywhere. I was a bit worried that they'd taste off or different than the ones I've had before because I normally get them from a certain restaurant I know but was not open. The gentleman at the counter was super friendly. He originally told me there were no more Saltenas being made for the day but when he heard I was from Vegas he cooked me 9 fresh which I really appreciate. I had originally wanted a larger order but it's my fault for not coming earlier or calling ahead. Next time I will. The Saltenas were amazing right down to the juice inside. I didn't get to try any cheese empanadas but I heard they are sold here. When I asked he said no but he may have just meant not for that day. I'll definitely be back.

the saltenas I will say were good and where not dry. what sucked is the fact that we got riped off. we got charged $24 for two drinks and 2 saltenas. Everyone knows that it only costs $2 per saltena. we paid sat down to eat when a woman came in very loudly stating "hey boss saltenas are $2 dollars each right?" the man nodded his head and she came out with a whole box. I was so disappointed and disgusted that I seriously got ripped off by my own people, I would never come here again.

Best salteñas in Orange County! Call to reserve them because they run out fast. Hopefully they bring lunch back!

The best Salteñas in OC!! My coworker introduced me to this bakery, and OMG, the flavor, the dough, and the aji are the best combinations!! Make sure to bring cash since they are cash only!

So they listed the bakery hours is 6AM and when I call to placed an order to pick up at 7AM the man said to me "No, only at 8AM". Seriously? Have not tried it yet, but seems like it wouldn't be any accurate best qualitative or service.

Saltena is very good, service is fast and reliable, the panaderia ambiance is a regular store , clean but not a lot of chair for seating. Overall the food is very good.

We've always bought Saltenas here for years and they had always been delicious, that's why we didn't mind the overpriced cost of $3.50 each. But last week, the Saltenas we bought were not the same, the flavor has changed, it was bland and not juicy. Not sure if they changed the recipe, replaced it with cheaper ingredients or the person making it is different - it's not as good as it used to be. I hope they go back to their old recipe and have the same cook as before make it again.

Second time buying empanadas here it's pretty good never had sweet empanadas before very different from other empanadas I've tasted.

We didn't realize this when we woke up, but we were going to have a global meat pie kind of day. This was stop #1 of Wendy's Most Marvelous Meat Pie Adventure. For starters, we wanted to be introduced to Bolivian style saltenas. That is what La Rancherita is all about. I called ahead because 1) Savvy Yelpers warned they are not always in stock, and 2) we did not want to risk disappointment since we lived 30 miles away. I would like to suggest that my phone does not do well with Spanish accents. But, actually, it is probably my American ears and my senior's brain. To my credit, I was ultimately able to order 8 saltenas to go, please. Lety would be expecting us in 45 minutes. We didn't exactly know what we were getting into, but actually saltenas are an empanada-like meat pie with a filling of ground chicken and/or ground beef with hard boiled egg and raisins. I love that combination, so it was easy to be open minded! And as we walked in the door, the shiny, golden saltenas were coming out of the oven. My new found friend, Lety, packed some, still hot, in a bakery box for the ride home. Tempted, we also threw in a few freshly baked pan dulce, bolillos, and some torta buns for extra measure. Then hopped into the car for the next phase of our road trip. If you want to know about that one, you will have to find my review for Pasty's, an English meat pie. So back to our Bolivian treasures. While we did not eat these fresh out of the oven, we gently rewarmed them the next morning. Such sacrilege to let them wait that long, but honestly, it was not a problem, they were extraordinary anyway. The crust was tender, moist, slightly sweet, impossible to put down. The filling, beautifully seasoned. I have had piccadillo many times before, and this version was truly one of the most delicious I can remember. So I include this sincere warning...one saltena may not be enough. The pan dulce were a mixed bag of tricks, some better than others. I was particularly impressed with the little golden cupcakes that looked like individual cakes of cornbread. They were perfectly sweetened and had a delicate spice added that was a nice surprise. And there was another pastry, a really dark brown one (almost looked burnt) with cinnamon which, while on the dry side, was bursting with flavor. This place is in a humble location but one I would highly recommend checking out. Bring cash.

Don't ever order Saltenas here because 90 percent of the time it is unavailable and they will give you another time later to pick them up. BUT....somehow they forgot to make them again. It's just poor customer service and it's frustrating. It has happened to me too many times here .

I went there today to buy some of them for my family to try, but they were very rude and the service was extremely poor, moreover, they treated me really bad. All I can Say is that I will never come back to this place ! If you want good Salteñas I'll sugest you go to other places even tho if it's far! Really dissapointed of their service

Me and my family have been coming here ever since we found out about it !! I am 21 years old and I tried my first salteña from here when I was 6 and I fell in love !! Me and my family are from Bolivia and although I never ate salteñas over there my family says they are more delicious than the ones from Bolivia so delicious On Saturday's and Sunday's they also serve traditional Bolivian plates! I HIGHLY recommend this place !!

5 stars for their amazingly delicious and super juicy Bolivian saltenas! They are only made fresh to order so make sure you call in ahead of time because it takes about 20-25 minutes for them to make it. They are best fresh out of the oven. I always get them when they are piping hot to make sure I get all the delicious soupy goodness inside! These hearty pastries are so delicious. They're a breakfast item in Bolivia, however, I enjoy them at all times of the day whenever I can get them! Inside the semi sweet golden pastry dough pocket is chicken, beef, bits of egg, peas, a raisin and I think an olive and delicious soup from the meat. You only get the soup on the inside when the pastry is right out of the oven. That is the best and only way to have it! I've actually had their saltena's after they had been out for a few hours and they are still delicious. La Rancherita makes the best and most authentic saltenas that I've had. My boyfriend and his family are from Bolivia and they can attest to this. I've tried saltenas at a few places in both northern and southern CA and they definitely make it the best here. I always have to make a stop here when I am in the area. It's a shame they can't be in NorCal too! Service is great. Remember to bring cash because it's CASH ONLY! There are 2-3 tiny tables inside for you to eat at if you can't wait till you get home to enjoy your saltenas.

Amazing service!!! My friends recommended this bakery to me and I came to Bakery to place an order for a cake around 8:30-9pm and had requested the cake to be ready the following day by 5pm! I didn't think they could do it but the people at the front were so helpful and easy to talk to. They assured me that the cake would be ready the next day and it was!!! I had requested them to add the champagne bottle for my boyfriends 30th bday and the cake was perfect. They helped me put it into my car and made sure that it was secured. I drove alone for 15 minutes to orange and it didn't move or fall! Phew! Lol The cake tasted amazing and was blown away by their great service!

La Rancherita Bakery specializes in one Bolivian treat: The Saltena. Cash only mom and pop shop that could easily be mistaken for a Mexican panaderia. It's housed next to a clothing shop and pho spot in a small strip mall and churns out these delicious Saltenas. The saltenas are little Bolivian meat pies/empanadas . The pie dough is reminiscent of sweet Hawaiian bread in terms of color and taste. The pies are filled with chicken and ground beef, hard boiled egg bits, peas, potatoes and raisins. Two pies will satisfy for a quick sit down meal if you are hungry. Definitely ask for aji(hot sauce) to complement the pies and grab a bottle of chicha morada out of the fridge to enjoy with your meal. The sweet breads are only 50cents so if you are feeling like dessert afterwards grab a couple of those to go. This is one of the few shops that specializes in Bolivian food. Head over and send them some support if you are in the area.

You come here for the legit Salteñas. Hands down the best Salteñas in CA. I'm Bolivian so I should know. I live closer to Bebas in North Hollywood so I never could come down here but I finally made it and was so happy that I did. I ended up buying a whole box to share with friends. Will definitely be making my way down there again. They also sell Bolivian cheese, which is almost impossible to find. Can't wait to go back.

This place is the best Salteñas and sweet bread anywhere. I have been buying Salteñas here since I found this place in 1998. I moved to Texas and when I come back to visit this is the first place I go to eat Salteñas.

Oh my goodness!!!!!!!! WOW WOW WOW!!!! I encourage you all to go here!! you must get the salteñas!! I cannot believe that the whole world does not know about these Saltenas. I need to tell all my friends, families and neighbors about these and to try these. If you were to eat ONE THING before you die, you have to eat the salteñas here! Muy ricos!! FOOD: I believe theyre around $2.75 (Don't quote me on this, I might've remembered wrong) but they were definitely less than three. I think that 2 of those would fill me up. They look intimidating at first but once you take a first bite out of the bread you will instantly fall in love. I introduced these to all my friends and they have been obsessed since. These are the best you can get in town and highly overlooked. More people should know about these. The way I eat them is that I hold it vertically and then bite the tip off, then with my spoon, I scoop the filling out like a pot pie. I eat all the filling and save the bread for last because that's the best part of the dish. It's so scrumptious and sweet, I don't know how to explain it but it's so good!!!! It's so authentic and good. EXCELLENT PARKING: A lot of parking in that area because I feel like this shop is overlooked and not a lot of people know about it. ATMOSPHERE: The Bakery is kind of small and old but I don't mind because I just come for the Saltanas. The lady there was very nice too I love her!!!! 15/10 would recommend to the whole entire world!

Amazing Saltenas! I love them. I drive from Riverside to pick them up! Totally worth the drive. You need to order them ahead of time! They accept only cash. They are a bit pricey. I ordered 24 and paid $84 that is about $3.50 each one! But its worth it!

We got to the bakery at 10:10am to get some saltenas and we live in LA. Some lady there told us that they didn't have any saltenas until 11am. We decided to wait kill time at Target. Went back to the bakery at 11:10am and some other lady told us they didn't even have any ready. We were so pissed. We wasted our time we could've just gone to Disneyland! The First Lady should've told us from the beginning they didn't even have any. Wasted our time!!! So disappointed!!! If you're gonna say you're gonna have something ready at a certain time, have it ready!!! You're gonna lose your customers and recommendations and I hope people read this review!

Sketchy place at night. People were going in the back to get the bread. No 6ft apart. It felt like anything goes in this place. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is cause the make some bomb pan. I didn't realize I was eating poor quality pan all these years, before coming to this place.
