La La Rice Review - Sawtelle - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"La La Rice is a Thai spot in West LA that doesn't believe in ugly food. Your fried rice is garnished with orchids, spring rolls are served in banana leaf cones, and you can sip on a branded coconut that looks like a welcome gift from White Lotus. It's these nice touches that help make La La a fun, kitschy Thai option on the Westside: expect solid takeout staples, plus more experimental dishes that are more uneven. The crispy wings in sticky yellow curry and a panko-crusted sole in a tangy tamarind sauce definitely work, but you can skip the gloopy panang curry with fried crab. If you're in the area and want to avoid the nightmarish parking on Sawtelle, La La Rice is a decent option with enough flair to make a casual dinner feel like an occasion." - Sylvio Martins

Google
Omg, they have EVERYTHING here!! You want fresh kimbap? They got it. Really clean location, aisles are wide and well kept. Plenty of choices, good food and worth going shopping for lots of healthy choices. Delicious cakes from the bakery. The prices are very reasonable, the brands are the same ones they sell in Korea, and the selection is off the charts! Their Staff is helpful in assisting whenever you aren't able to find what you are looking for. I Highly recommend over any other "Asian" Grocery store in the area! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Google
Ever see an Asian recipe and you can’t find the ingredients to make it? This place has it all. We wanted dessert, and we saw their sign. ….,Bakery. We stopped in and saw so much interesting and unique items on the shelves. On one side of the store they had a bakery area with quaint little seating area. With lots of danishes, donuts, croissants, breads and some surprises. The overall store was clean and organized with friendly staff. Outside, there are lots of free parking and there’s other stores and restaurants nearby in the Square One plaza.

Loved all their selections. Learned about other styles of food and culture. Everything is fresh. My wife and I loved shopping here and will be back as much as possible.

I came to this store a couple of weeks ago and I enjoyed the variety selection. I was able to find things for making Japanese curry. However, it was their bakery that really sold it for me. Enjoyed probably one of the best slices of red velvet cake. They also have other pastries and drinks you should try!

Google
A friend told me this place, wow it is a such great place to buy asian foods and lots of seasoners, sauces, dressings. You can also buy authentic asian rice, noodles, frozen Korean foods, fresh vegetables, Chinese teas, Japanese popular fast cooking dishes, anything you can imagine. What I love most here is its super clean environment, everything is well picked, packed, and maintained. The staff said it was opened nearly two years ago. I also saw it sells freshly baked breads and cakes. I will try them next time. Updating: second time to get some grocery, the breads and cakes were sold so well, you can also preorder cakes by call. Also there are many asian teas you can choose.

Google
Lots of cold and frozen groceries! Missing some of my staple ingredients but had some others I wasn't expecting. Bubble tea and baked goods only available during certain hours. Masks required and provided. Will come back for some boba tea.

Google
Shopped here yesterday. This was my 2nd time and I just love this place! Very clean, the gentleman that helped with my questions and items was super nice and very helpful! He even gave me a website with Korean recipe instruction from a home cook/Mom! They have beautiful vegetables and a large selection that I can't find anywhere! I'm thrilled to find a small business market that stocks so many Korean items! My new grocery store! Love it! Come support local business! My go to for Korean cooking staples! It's kimchi day for me and yesterday they had everything I needed! So happy there is a store providing a majority of Korean necessities!

Google
This is such a great little market. They have all the traditional grocer needs for Indian and Asian Cuisine, plus a lovely little bakery with macarons and boba teas. It’s very clean, and constantly expanding selection. Ive been three times now with each time getting more selection.

Yelp
Clean! Well stocked. Helpful and friendly service. Very knowledgeable. Best selection of Asian food in the area.

Yelp
This is the New York H-mart here in Florida. Lots of variety and fresh bakery foods like kimbab and fresh baked goods , delicious. You should check this place out you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Love it here. Wide selection of ramen and snacks. The bakery items are delicious and they're best priced on Asian snacks in the area.

Yelp
Feels like you left the states once you enter. They have a huge selection of goods; from fresh imported produce, snacks, drinks and much more! I'm always finding something special when I shop here.

Yelp
Awesome awesome awesome place. We came here after we saw this place was open and we were here before 930 at night. When we walked in, it was like being in Japan, Thailand, Philippines again. They had all the things you would expect. When you are in a Asian market, just realize it's a bit different from an American market. For instance, salted crab whole, or sardine chips made with sardines, or pickled duck eggs. Anyway, there's a lot of things to choose from and you'll spend at least an hour trying to find things and being fascinated by. We plan on coming back once we have an idea of what we want to make.

Yelp
Nice Asian Market in Jensen Beach, FL. When you do walk in, you do get the usual Asian market fish smell. I think it does soon diminish as you walk through. This store is very bright, clean and organized. They have a bakery section with cakes and buns. They did not have coffee at the time we visited because the machine was broken. They also have all of the aisles as organized as can be. Drinks, teas, coffees, candies, snacks, sauces, noodles, mixes, freezer items, home items, etc. I saw a lot of Korean items, Thai, Vietnamese, some Filipino, and Chinese goods. Definitely a fusion of an Asian supermarket. Glad we were able to check it out because the sign can easily be missed. Check it out for your Asian grocery needs or a piece of cake or bread buns. We had the dark chocolate cake and it was very good, light and not too sweet.

Yelp
Definitely a quick one stop shop for all your Korean and other Asian produce, snacks, and frozen needs. They had ready to cook jajangmyeon (black bean sauce over noodles) in the fridge section, Korean style corn dog in the frozen section, and all the standard sauces/condiments you would need in Asian cooking. The prices are bit more than what I've seen in NYC, but being one of the few Asian grocers in the area, it's a price we're willing to pay. The store is very clean and spacious. There's also a bakery section with cakes and sweet breads. Their coffee bread is SO GOOD - coffee flavored buttery top with delicious pastry cream filling, a bit pricey but so worth. Not impressed with their bubble tea - it was overly sweet and grainy but I guess they're the only place around here selling them so you got no other choice. And obviously can't compare them to the gazillion bubble tea stores in NYC. Great spot for Asian grocery needs, baked goods, but skip the bubble tea.

Yelp
I pretty much stumbled onto La Rice Market a few months back. It's in the same shopping center as Home Depot right off of US 1. However the reason I've likely missed that it is there is the lack of much signage. I literally drove by the store front and then after looking inside I got excited at what I saw. So of course I stopped in. SCW and I both came in the spacious, well lit and clean interior. To the right of the entrance is the bakery and tea stand. They have a few tables to sit at inside and were at a social distance (visit during COVID-19). We wandered through the aisles, they have Asian beer, sake, teas of all kinds, snacks, noodles, hot sauces, dried mushrooms, and amazing treats to behold. In the cold cases they have tons of variety of kimchi which I got the house made (my mistake for not looking over the label more carefully as it includes sardine which I don't eat) variety. They have tofu, veggies, all kinds of meats and produce at decent prices. Everything was clean and spotless! They also have an assortment of rice that you can self serve (bulk style) as well as the prepackaged kinds. The checkout was friendly and sanitary which during COVID-19 is obviously important. I was quite impressed and will be back. Really, anywhere that has a full half aisle almost just dedicated to hot sauce? You got my interest!

Yelp
I cannot recommend this place enough. I regularly advise anyone I know to stop by and try something new. La Rice Market is a cute Asian grocery store with a bakery inside. I purchased my birthday cake from here and have tried a few of their pastries and bread. I have not been disappointed. I enjoy buying my fresh vegetables here as well as stocking up on dried seaweed, pickled radish, and probiotic drinks. They have an assortment of noodles, sauces/marinades, teas, snacks, and more. The staff are friendly and kind. I appreciate being close to such a wonderful establishment run by great people.

Yelp
Super cute, amazing choice of snacks. yummy food and the little station where you tell them to make your ramen is super adorable. super friendly and helpful staff

Yelp
I cannot tell you my excitement a few years ago when we came to Home Depot and saw the, "Asian Market Coming Soon" sign. Hehe it is a little far from where we live but we would drive every so often to see whether they opened or not. One fine evening, the doors were open. They were not open to the public yet, they were still setting up but the lovely Korean family invited us in and made us feel so welcome. I knew right then that this market would be our family favorite. Every time we are in the area, we make sure to stop here, get the bubble teas and purchase my favorite ingredients. They are the only Asian market in the area that carries my favorite dumpling wrappers so for that alone it is worth the drive. The store is so well stocked with every Asian ingredients you can imagine and it is kept so very clean and organized. It has such an open welcoming feel and every single staff member that I have interacted with has always been extremely nice. Even if they are standing behind the register and I ask them about a certain ingredient I cannot find, they will leave their register, walk with me to the aisle to show me the ingredient! How nice is that!! Yesterday, my husband wanted to buy several different types of Soju and I was running low on my dumpling wrappers so we decided to make the drive. The first thing my two Elsa's wanted as soon as we entered the store was the, "Bubblegum Tea". They are 3 and just turned two and cannot finish one bubble tea by themselves. If you read my review of "Asian Speciality Products" and how rudely I was spoken to for asking for one bubble tea to be split in two for my little girls you will see why I asked my husband to ask, Jin, who was behind the counter if he could do it for us! My gosh the experience with Jin was the complete opposite. He told us he had no problem splitting my girls drink so I could drink mine in peace. We placed the order with him and went to shop. As we were walking away Jin heard my two year old crying for her, "strawberry bubblegum tea" so he called me back and handed me to probiotic drink for them. Baby calmed down instantly! How thought was that! As we were almost done shopping, Jin again called us saying our drinks were ready. You should have seen how happy my girls were to see their, "Strawberry Bubblegum tea" . They wanted to drink it right away which they did and loved it. Meanwhile my husband needed some help with Soju so Jin came with us to show it to him. While there, I noticed my little one had spilled her drink on her dress. You should see how Jin took care of her! My gosh I am emotional thinking about it. He ran back to the counter, got a roll of paper towel and so very gently cleaned and dried her dress for her. He was so kind and patient with her and told me he has a little girl too. The kindness he showed my little girl, he truly went above and beyond. I know this Asian market is a business but the humanity and kindness Jin showed us here, especially after my horrible experience in the aforementioned Asian Market, is one of the reasons I will always shop at La Rice Market and will recommend this market to everyone. Also wanted to mention I drank my Lychee Boba after I got to the car. Shared it with my husband and both agreed it was so refreshing and delicious.

Yelp
Great variety of Japanese drinks and snacks! We didn't try their cakes, but they looked amazing.

Yelp
An Asian market with a cute bakery. I was craving for boba tea and found this place via yelp. I had mango boba and a slice of mocha cake. All delicious. My daughter had lychee boba and loved it. The owner (tall gentleman) was very pleasant. We will definitely come back!

Yelp
Stopped in to browse and discovered the fresh strawberry cake! Wow! Simply amazing. It was a bit pricey BUT worth every damn penny!!!!

Yelp
Great Asian market ... I wanted to get Korean and Thai ingredients and they had everything I was looking for. The fresh vegetables are limited but they have an extensive array of frozen foods. The store is clean & organized but if you don't find what you are looking for, just ask - super friendly & helpful staff. The bakery/coffee shop was closed when I was there during the week day morning but I can see it busy on the weekends. (Please remember that it's an Asian bakery so you won't find your traditional bakery staples like cupcakes, croissants, butter cookies, etc but instead the sweet red bean paste pastries.) Pop in for a visit after your visit to the Home Depot next door, I guarantee you will find it interesting.

Yelp
It's very clean, and organized. Prices are a little higher than other stores. But the quality is worth it! I bought the house kimchi. I'm happy that it has some spice to it. All the other store bought kimchi's were very mild. The only downside is that you are mandated to wear a mask. But I will be returning.

Yelp
Ahhh ! i was so excited to find this place! I love asian bakeries! My husband and I went here today and got so many delish groceries and treats! I lived in LA for a long time, and i've really been missing a chain out there called 85degrees, and their little bakery area was a nice mini version to cure my cravings! Such a great grocery selection! I will be back!

Yelp
The boba here is amazing. The management here was very kind and helpful. They welcomed us with a huge smile and great service. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
I went here primarily for the bubble tea because it was close to where I was and happened to walk around. This location is a cafe in grocery store combination. I recently returned from living abroad in the asia-pacific and this restaurant take me back. They have fresh vegetables, a frozen section as well as a large selection of shelf-stable items and spices. They have an area designated for tea and teacups. They also have a cafe inside when you can order beverages, slices of cake or Confections. The Confections such as different types of butter sugar rolls reminds me of the bakeries that you find in Chinatown but the price was about three times as much. Think about $3 for cheese filled croissant which is reasonable if you've never had them for less than a dollar. The bubble tea was bland. I had the Taro smoothie it tasted like nothing. The Boba inside was lovely but that was about it. I will not be returning for the bubble tea or the Confections but possibly for the groceries as I do miss Asian groceries.

Yelp
Need a good market to get specialty items? This is your place!! The owners are wonderful and will help you find anything. They also have a little cafe with short order items and pastries that are out of this world delicious!!

Yelp
Florida is SO dry when it comes to asian food, which I grew up with. This place is a tad bit expensive compared to home prices BUT its worth it because its so hard to find the grocery items that they import for you like the fish balls and they even have cakes for sale!! The boba is delicious, too!! I do wish they had more of a variety of instant noodles, they only had a couple of Japanese ramen it was all mostly Korean.
google avatar

Yelp
La Rice Orangic Market and Bakery has an assortment of organic asian food items. First, you can find a variety of snack items, teas, freezer items, fresh produce, some cooking utensils, and a small dry bulk section with different types of dry beans. They also have a bakery that sells these nice fancy cakes you can buy whole or by the slice (the slice is a pretty nice portion too). Next, they have little baked good like red bean buns and other small fresh baked packaged goods. Finally, they sell boba tea as well!

Yelp
It is so nice to have an organized, clean, and friendly Asian market in the area. The owner said they are just soft opening which means they will have more items coming in. I can't wait. They already have a variety of items to choose from. And their sake selection are great. Perfect time for the holiday gift.

Yelp
As a Korean person shopping for Korean products, I am fairly picky when selecting an Asian Market. This place exceeded my expectations. The store is immaculately clean and the items are fresh and new. The pre-made food was delicious and my kids loved the bakery items and bubble tea. My mother highly approved of the kimchi (large box for about $22) and she said prices are very fair. They also have the best Asian snack aisle ever. Highly recommend!

Mao H.

Yelp
Bakery's were great! They have every little thing you might want or need from drinks, snacks to kitchenware. Would definitely visit every time we're back in town.

Sivan P.

Yelp
First time at this place, kind of hard to know from outside what this place is, but when you go inside it's very clean organised ethnic grocery store and the main reason I went there is cause I was looking for good bubble tea where I live, and I found it! Definitely will be coming back for some more!
google avatar

Luisa C.

Yelp
The Cafe side was aesthetically pleasing, good seating. Lots of cakes to choose from. On the opposite side is the store that's filled with Korean goods from drinks to frozen foods even though it's still in the soft opening can't wait to go back!

Sally W.

Yelp
Love their Boba Tea! Clean and organized store. They have a nice little corner that has Cakes and deserts. The cakes look delicious, I will definitely be trying them.

Yelp
I just moved from New York and was worried about the availability of brands I like in this area but this market had it all! It's a clean, spacious shop with well stocked aisles. They have a small bakery/cafe with packaged pastries. I had the cream cheese bread and it was perfect. I'm very excited about a lot of the frozen items. They all looked delicious. I also appreciated that they had a small produce area, so I was able to get everything for the dinner I was making in one place. Publix doesn't have baby bok choy but they had it here! Stop in and browse and grab a pastry!
google avatar

Reema S.

Yelp
Came across this place while I was searching for boba, LOVE IT , the boba was amazing . Staff was helpful. Very clean place with a nice seating area. You can grab some groceries while you're at it or try new things that they have. Bakery had some yummy things we tried too
google avatar

Marize B.

Yelp
Pleasant employees have a little of everything. Has some amazing boba and you can never go wrong with the pre made food. Would definitely come back again

Yelp
Oh my good glory. What a hidden gem!! I guess it's new but this is an asian persons dream come true. It's honestly like waking up on Christmas morning :D thank you for opening this place. Definitely worth checking out. We need to support small biz especially new ones! Take my money y'all!

Stephanie P.

Yelp
I love this place! The bakery is my favorite the butter bread is out of this world! Definitely recommend to everyone!

Sunyoung P.

Yelp
I love this place!!! They have all kinds asian ingredients and also Korean stuffs. The staff's service was really good.

Andy N.

Yelp
Excellent selection of asian products. My wife loves to cook vietnamese dishes and we were worried about not having access to key ingredients in the area. This place is an absolute gem and I hope they continue to gain the support of the community.

Yelp
went in this week for the first time and was impressed by how good everything looked both in the grocery market as well as in the bakery. I picked up some pastries and a boba tea (which was delicious btw), but what stood out most was how helpful and understanding the employees were, especially since I had some trouble figuring out what some things were. I'll definitely be going back!

Megan R.

Yelp
Its so clean in here and the staff is wonderful and friendly. Not to mention their bakery is full of gorgeous looking cakes and breads! They also have tea and coffee!

Trip S.

Yelp
I also wanted to state how happy I was to see such a wonderful Asian market. I'm from Chicago and each winter I bring my asian supplies with me because they are not available here. This place has it all, from fresh noodles to Chili Oil. I cook Chinese, Korean and Thai and they have every I need. The Staff is helpful and the place is super clean.

Ashley B.

Yelp
I'm so happy to have such a cute clean Asian market so close to home. It's a good size store with a mix of fresh vegetables frozen foods and prepackaged items. The staff is very friendly and willing to answer any questions you might have. Best of all in another couple weeks they will be selling freshly baked goods. You should definitely visit!
