Given that I had never been to Spain before, I had a limited point of reference for authentic tapas/Mallorcan cuisine, aside from trying the occasional homemade tortilla española or pan de tomate with friends from Sevilla when they visited the US.
All of that said, this spot blew my mind! My partner and I ate here twice during our four-day stay in Palma. The first time, we started with the seasonal tomato salad, manchego en aceite de oliva and olivas rellenas de anchoa. These were among the best olives I tried during this trip. The tomato assortment was an ideal compliment to the manchego. Then, we ordered the hongos con huevo revuelto and patatas bravas. I know I kind of buried the lead here, but these were by far the best bravas we had over the course of our trip. They are perfectly fried--slightly crispy on the outside, but tender and buttery on the inside. They are topped with a mixture of the traditional creamy garlic aioli and paprika-based brava sauce--a really nice touch that helped balance the dish. The sauce was layered between the small potato segments, which helped evenly distribute the flavors. Long story short, if you go here, the bravas are a must (especially if you love potatoes).
The second time we came, we ordered most of the same selection with the addition of the Spanish asparagus (if you're not used to it, it is white and a bit thicker--fear not--it's delicious), which was served with an orange-infused aioli, and the grilled octopus. Ours was tender, fresh and beautifully served with roasted potatoes and a parsley accompaniment. I am not usually a meat eater, but the few bites I tried made me want to start eating seafood again.
Additionally, the service was impeccable. Ignore reviews from folks who said the service was subpar--the servers are attentive and kind. As is customary in Spain, you may have to flag them down for your check or if you need another glass of wine, but don't feel shy doing so. Just be kind when you because they're working their asses off in a busy restaurant.
