I live on the east coast where we really don’t have many Filipino options, if it all, so I always make sure to stop by LA Rose Cafe when I’m in LA and every time it’s a guaranteed treat. The staff is incredibly friendly as well! You feel like family while dining here.

This is by far the best Filipino restaurant I’ve tried outside the Philippines. If youre craving authentic Filipino food in Los Angeles, L.A. Rose is the place to go. The food is absolutely delicious, the service is excellent, and the ambiance is classy and welcoming, definitely a 10/10 for me. Their pork belly lechon never disappoints: perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. And don’t miss their halo-halo. It's a must-try! The ingredients are authentically Filipino, and their ube halaya tastes just like my grandma’s halaya back home. They’ve even catered major events like the Grammys, which makes it even more exciting to see Filipino cuisine represented this well outside of the Philippines.❤️🥰

Ate here this past Friday November 14 with 3 of my siblings. Authentic Filipino food that was absolutely delicious. Shared crispy pata, pinakbet, garlic fried rice, sisig, and kare kare. We thought we ordered way too much but guess, what? Finished most of it with exception of the rice and a tiny piece of crispy pata. Didn't have room for dessert, which looked delicious too. Afterwards we had a lovely chat with chef-owner "Ray" who gave us quite the history lesson on Philippine culture in the 70's and 80's (my siblings and I had left the Philippines by then). All in all, one of the best dining experiences for as long as I can remember (I'm going to be 65 next April). Highly and enthusiastically recommended.

This is my favorite Filipino restaurant in LA. I always bring my friends and family here for good traditional food. The staff and Lemy (the owner) are so nice and accommodating. The interior is quite cozy and nostalgic, almost like your Filipino grandma's house. Hot tip: Don't park in the parking lot behind! They will tow your car as it's not part of the restaurant. Just park on the street. You really can't go wrong with any of their mains. You can't miss the dish cebuchon with their homemade sauce (better than mang tomas) and the sisg. The skin is so crispy, yet the meat is very tender and moist. We also get the dinuguan (will convert even foreigners as long as you don't mention the main ingredient lol), pinakbet, palabok, tocino, and homemade longganisa They do boodle fights here, I've never personally tried it, but I've seen other people do it. Definitely lots of food. Their desserts are good too, but they have big portions, and they are heavy on sugar. They've been around since 1982, so they are doing something right. My only wish is that they still had live piano music on the weekends.

This place feels like home, inviting - ambiance is nice. Food was delicious and presented nicely. We had a late Filipino breakfast - the cebuchon and jeprox both with sinangag and eggs. -The cebuchon was perfectly crisp, moist, and flavorful. This was accompanied by homemade liver sauce and I think it was a soy/vinegar sauce. -The jeprox came with so many crispy whole pieces that I was surprised. I didn't expect that many! It was enough for breakfast the following day. -The Kare-kare (yes, for breakfast ) was very good as well. Good balance of meat and fat in the oxtails and perfectly cooked veggies. I would've preferred a deeper flavor but it was really good nonetheless. The bagoong was really good but a bit on the sweeter side. -Coffee could more full-bodied. -The vinegar is readily available at the table. I found it on the sweet side though. -Last but not least, our server was attentive and polite. Nothing like Filipino hospitality. -Street parking only. Craving for bangsilog and decided to try La Rose -- and wow, it did not disappoint! The bangsilog was so yummy, and the longganisa was equally delicious. We finished off with their ensaymada for dessert, which was soft, buttery, and absolutely perfect. The restaurant has such a warm, classic vibe, and Gabriel was super sweet and attentive -- truly great service! Hands down, one of the best Filipino restaurants in the area. There's street parking available, and while the outside of the building could use a little tidying up, the restaurant itself is clean and well-kept inside. Definitely coming back soon!. Thank you!

Love this local Filipino spot! The inside is just like one of my relatives homes- filled with pasalubong from around the world. There is even a piano and one time we were treated by a lovely piano player while we ate. The food is like good home-cooked Filipino food. The service was friendly and the vibe was chill. You can also just pop in to order pastries and shakes to go! Parking may be a little troublesome but not terrible. Definitely recommend.

Ivan craving some really good chicken adobo for a long time as my cousins are Filipino and I only got good adobo at their house when Mom made it. Well if you eat here, Mama will make it for you too! It was a very generous portion of dark meat chicken in a really nice adobo sauce. It came with some grilled vegetables and a big heaping bowl of white rice. Not a tiny little bowl of white rice but old school two decades ago amount. And then the price can't be beat. My whole meal which I was full at the end was 19 dollars and 95 cents. And they do a really good job of giving you some flavored water that's included. With mint and lemon. Just really nice touches. The decor is amazing, you feel like you're tita's living room and eating at her kitchen. Highly recommended.

Was craving Filipino food but I was a little hesitant because I'm really picky about it. We only ordered the buchon and Pansit, but I can tell everything here is good, and it's so cute inside! Service was great too. Definitely recommend.

I've been going here for years (since I was a child)! They have a wonderful variety of options, options you grew up with as a kid. You can't go wrong with ANYTHING you order. Portions are good and family style. Cozy atmosphere with good vibes only. Great for big parties and they also do private events, BOODLE FIGHTS, etc. A MUST try for anyone! 10 out of 10 for me!!

I was in the mood for some Filipino food and found this place. I ordered a lot of food and it was all tasty. The ambiance made me feel like I was at home and also the service was super friendly! Best way to put it, the food felt like home cooked food by your parents. Most definitely worth it!

I had a great lunch with some of my family here last Sunday. I've never been to L.A. Rose Cafe even though it was established in 1982. There was about a 20 minute wait for our party of four. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. We were seated in a room that had a grand piano and some homey furniture that reminded me of being in my Lola's house in the P.I. Upon the recommendation of our waitress, we started with their "famous" chicken empanadas and they were indeed delicious; don't miss out on these. I love Filipino breakfast at any time of day, so I had my heart set on having their tapsilog (tapa, garlic fried rice, and fried egg), BUT they didn't have tapa that day. So, my second choice was the Chicken Inasal (bbq-style chicken with garlic fried rice and fried eggs). This was so flavorful and satisfying. My cousin had the Sinigang, a soup that I grew up eating, too, so having some of it was so comforting. I don't eat Filipino food at restaurants very often because I have found it to be disappointing since no one cooks better than my mom or other family members. HOWEVER, L.A. Rose Cafe delivered, so I would definitely return.

True hole in the wall! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you step inside you do get transported to a different cozy traditional yet modern feel. We were in the area and the husband was craving Filipino food. I've also always wanted to try crispy pata. LA Rose Cafe was the closest that popped up and we decided to just try it out and uhm!! Wow. This is real homestyle cooking with the flair. Everything was so good but of course the star of the show was the crispy pata. Tender juicy meat inside, yet crispy flaky light skin! They have all the table sauces with vinegar of course, and a special hot sauce it tasted like. Loved them all. The sizzling sisig was also one of the better that we've had. Flavors were balanced, not too fatty, retained its textures! Wish we could have ordered more to try but it was just the two of us. I'd really like to bring my dad up here so he can try the crispy pata.

This is my first time trying authentic Filipino food and I loved it! My friend and I got seated right away, service was fantastic. We stayed back for a while to catch up after paying and we weren't rushed to leave. Street parking only. There are a lot in the neighborhood. If you're lucky, you might catch someone leaving and you can get a spot just right outside the restaurant. Starting off with drinks both the calamansi juice and mango juice were great. The taste of the mango juice reminded me of Langers. The dinuguan was surprisingly my favorite. It's so hearty and pairs so well with rice. The empanadas were alright, it was a bit dry. However, the honey mustard sauce that comes with it is soo good! It definitely elevates the experience and adds that tangy flavor to each bite. We needed veggies too so we ordered the lumpiang sariwa. It was alright, I wan't a fan of it. Pinangat was amazing too. It's with a mix of flavors from salty savory, umami, and sour.

LA Rose Cafe is an absolute gem and one of the most authentic Filipino dining experiences I have ever had. The space feels traditional, cozy, and homey, almost like eating in someone's living room, which gives it so much charm. The food was phenomenal. I tried the buchon which came out perfectly crispy and packed with flavor, and the longanisa was outstanding with that signature sweet and savory kick. The garlic rice tied everything together beautifully, and the two eggs over easy on top made the whole plate feel complete. I also got to try the sans rival, which I really enjoyed. It had layers with a firm crunch rather than a spongey cake texture, and it reminded me of a white chocolate dessert with a unique twist. On top of the food, the service was warm and welcoming, and the Thai tea was a fun addition. At eight dollars you actually get two refills, so three servings total, which felt like a nice perk. Between the authenticity, the incredible dishes, and the inviting atmosphere, LA Rose Cafe is an unforgettable spot I cannot recommend enough.

Hosted a kamayan feast/boodle fight at LA Rose Cafe for this year's birthday, and it was a blast. Thank you to Ray and the staff at LA Rose Cafe for making it a memorable event for my guests. First, I made the reservation for 20 people about a month in advance. Depending on the RSVPs, I was considering buying out the restaurant, which they told me I could decide up to a week before the event date. Fortunately, we were able to seat everyone in the back room. Although the lone restroom was through this room, it still felt private enough for our party. The kamayan menu is pre-set from appetizer to dessert, but you have the option of ordering additional dishes. There is plenty of food on the pre-set menu, so the only add-ons we had were pitchers of calamansi juice. Presentation was lovely. While all the food was tasty, I received rave reviews for their empanadas I knocked off a star for lack of parking (only metered street parking is available, which can be a pain for out-of-town guests depending on the time of day) and charging for two children at adult prices (I paid in cash and settled the bill after the event; I didn't realize/report the discrepancy until after I'd returned home).

LA Rose Cafe is definitely an experience - considering it opened in 1982, it really feels like taking a time capsule into the past. Walking in, it looks almost as if it was formerly someone's house - or maybe an antique shop - that's been converted into a restaurant. There are multiple non-functional doors, what looks like an antique piano in the dining area, various antique - and most interestingly, the bathroom (watch your step going in/out!) has a non functional shower inside. My friend had been wanting to try kamayan - a Filipino communal meal - for over a year, and LA Rose Cafe offers a great selection for pretty great value (as of now, it's 55 dollars per person)! The only catch: you need to come with at least 6 people, and you eat with your hands. No, kamayan is technically not all you can eat - the server puts all the food on the banana leaves at the start of the meal, and then you just go at it. That being said, it might as well be all you can eat, because the portions per person were insane - by the time we finished eating, our table was still completely filled with food. This meant that we were able to get to-go boxes, and pretty much everyone took home 1-2 boxes worth of food home. I normally like to break down things item by item in my reviews, but the sheer quantity of food (many which I'm not entirely familiar with) makes that a bit too daunting of a task. That being said, my favorites were the perfectly caramelized barbecue pork, the crispy lechon, the juicy barbecue chicken, the tender grilled vegetables, and strangely... the mango slices - firm yet sweet. That being said, there were a few misses: the fried fish was pretty dry, the dried fish was really salty, and the grilled shrimp had amazing flavor and was juicy inside the shell, but the meat itself was dry. That being said, given the quantity of the food and that everything is being served and prepared at once, it's not too surprising that not everything is going to be as good as if it were prepared fresh as an individual entrée. Overall, though not perfect, the food was overall pretty good. Overall, doing kamayan at LA Rose Cafe is definitely a unique experience that will definitely impress (if nothing for the sheer quantity and spread of food) and I would recommend people give it a try, even if just for the novelty of it.

LA Rose Cafe has become a regular spot for my wife and I. I enjoy the atmosphere and the traditional menus selection. It's a relaxed vibe and no one is in a rush so you can truly sit down and remove yourself from the hustle and frantic Los Angeles city outside. Get the pork belly and garlic rice and a "Maria Clara" drink to have a heart warming example of great home style cooking. Take a friend or family and try different things on the menu and share. Parking is a little difficult so that is the only issue that I have but aside from that, the place has been going strong since 1982 and it really is a fixture of the area. The Service is attentive and helpful and it is consistently good every time I go. If you're not familiar with Filipino food, this is a great place to start that journey of trying something new. So come in, relax with friends and have a great meal.

Simply delicious! My family's gastronomy experience last night was excellent. First of all, the ambience was very welcoming and it feels so homey. Secondly, the staff were very friendly and welcoming too. I failed to make a reservation for a party of 7 but they were able to accommodate us. Thirdly, everything we ordered was flavorful and cooked with love. We devoured the kare kare, dinuguan, crispy pata, cebuchon, liempo, and halo halo easily. We met Ray at the end of the night and made sure he knew that we deeply appreciated his artistic skill of cooking these wonderful dishes. Keeping the Filipino heritage with the foods he serve makes me so proud. We all can't wait to come back for more.

It's a charming spot in Hollywood, perfect for a casual meal with a Filipino twist. Came here with my family and ordered the classic filipino dishes. We got the Oxtail Kare Kare, Sisig, BBQ, Oxtail Soup, Lumpia (Fried and Fresh), and their Buchon. We had a great meal with leftovers. The atmosphere is cozy and laid-back, making it great for catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet meal. The staff is warm and welcoming. Parking can be a bit tricky but the food and experience makes it worth it.

Amazing! Decided to try LA Rose Cafe after flying in from SF to visit a friend. Literally 5/5,, i got the Pancit Palabok- it has a delicious smokiness and the flavors tasted both indulgent and comforting. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and green onions helped balance the dish's heaviness. Definitely not an every-day dish as it's a bit heavy, but tasted so delicious and if I lived in the area I'd come back for this dish (and others) weekly. friend got the 1/4 lb Buchon combo (with garlic rice and stir fried veggies), it was also really good and well-flavored! The buchon had a good texture and crispiness, and the combination of veggies, buchon, and garlic rice all in one bite was soo satisfying. Ambience: Miss Universe was on TV at the other side of the restaurant and there was a large birthday party table next to us; it wasn't too loud (my friend and I were able hear each other clearly) AND I was so content hearing all the joy that was filling the space ! Overall a very cozy place. Our waiter was very pleasant and informative as well. We had wanted to get the HaloHalo but were too full and even took some leftovers home from both dishes. On my food list for the next time I'm back in LA ! HIGHLY RECOMMEND :D

Haven't been to a Filipino restaurant with friends in a whilee but after this visit would definitely take friends and family here! We ordered the pork sisig and sweet & spicy longanisa and with each entree you have your choice of rice and egg, garden salad, or mixed veggie. Notable was that each table had spiced vinegar as they should. I ordered the sago gulaman which is a drink with tapioca balls, gelatin, and a sweet syrup, and my friend got the Juan de la Cruz which was like a Filipino Arnold Palmer made with calamansi instead of lemonade. Both really good and would order everything again! We both felt it was a very hole in the wall place with a good dessert menu that we shall try next time!!

Made a reservation for 7 on a Saturday evening. We got there a bit early and they sat us right away since it wasn't that crowded. Food took a while to come out but it was all pretty tasty. Was it the best? No. But it didn't fulfill our craving for authentic Filipino food. My favorite was the oxtail kare kare. The eggplant was deliciously made. Lots of chopped up tender oxtail as well. Service was great and we left satisfied with leftovers for the next day. Very mom and pop vibe. Parking took about 20 minutes to find. We circled around and around until someone had left. It's mainly residential with some apartments so get there early to find street parking.

Nice hidden gem near Kaiser. Dining area is old school chic. Not what you would expect when first walk in. Had the buchon, pancit and pork adobo. Pancit was my favorite. My guest found the buchon addictive. Try the calamansi drinks! So good.

Came here for authentic filipino food that lived up to the reviews! The inside had a homey feel like I was eating at my aunt's house while the service was still very warm. The buchon plate was the best because of the garlic rice and the pork, while the lumpia balanced it with a little sweetness from the sauce and freshness of the veggies!

Food was mediocre at best. Mostly everything I tried was too salty. This was my first time trying this place and I personally would not come back. Service was great though and it's a cozy atmosphere.

Went there on a weekend night just craving for one thing- their famous halo halo. No wait we got a table for two since it's the holiday the restaurant is deck out with glittery displays. When you enter a cozy vibe of warmth and hospitality awaits. The dessert came quick in a huge oval shape bowl and it's loaded with all the yummy goodness like beans, kaong, nata de coco, jelly, pinipig, coconut, ube ice cream & cherry on top. First time here but did not disappoint will be back next time to try other delicious dishes on the menu.

Been here multiples times. Before it's always busy but now I notice it's not busy and not crowded. I used to like this place but the price I getting more expensive and not reasonable anymore to come. In understand everything now is inflation. Sisig plate is not a lot and burnt. It's spicy and doesn't taste sisig at all. Very disappointed because this is my husband favorite food. Tapa plate is really good, highly recommend getting it for breakfast. However, I asked for scrambled egg but they gave me sunny side up. Lumpia sariwa was good, really like the sauce. They should've put more peanuts. Service was okay. The ambiance is really nice feels like authentic Filipino restaurant inside. Parking is horrible.

This place is GREAT!!! Don't let the run down experience fool you! Walking inside felt like walking into Lola's house, with the same exact lamps, blue vases, and decorative wall panels! We had a Kamayan for my bday and it was the BEST experience!! All the staff are so nice and considerate. The food was amazing, delicious and high-quality. There was a wide variety of meats and also boneless bangus and shrimp! Even the appetizers were perfect!! We also had a TON of food leftover for our baon for the next 2-3 days

Went here on a Monday evening at 7:30 pm. It was not packed. Edmar, our server, greeted us and seated us quickly. He was attentive and helped us with questions we had about the menu. Service was quick. The interior and the decors were very cute. The lighting and nice background music were so homey and relaxing. Cantaloupe melon juice and Maria Clara (calamansi, honey iced tea with maraschino cherry) tasted as if they were watered down. Zubuchon was very crispy and flavorful. It was great. Pancit palabok was alright. Sisig that came with 2 eggs that were cooked according to your preference was good. Even if my rating is 4/5 for the overall experience, I would still come back to this place.

This is my first time eating Filipino food! Filipino food has its own characteristics! It feels like a fusion of the flavors of many countries' dishes! Super recommended Sisig This is pork belly, which is finely chopped pork belly and spread on the iron plate, and there are two eggs! This is super fragrant! It's a bit like the meaning of iron plate minced pork belly, which is my favorite dish! Empanada【 This is a bit like the crispy meat buns in China! There are chicken and pork, I ordered half pork and half chicken. He will also serve you with a sauce that tastes like curry. Delicious! The crispy skin is very fragrant! It's full of meat! Taro smoothie This is super delicious! It's milky and fragrant! I only ordered one cup, and he gave me two cups! He said he was afraid that I wouldn't have enough to drink! So nice! Fresh coconut water Garlic Rice (garlic rice) This rice is very fragrant! You must eat it! I ordered 4 bowls! A big plate was served! Actually, 2 bowls would be enough! We ordered a lot of dishes! Oxtail Soup The soup is delicious! It tastes great! Very refreshing! There are a lot of vegetables in it! There are also a lot of oxtails! We all drank it! Halo- Halo Ice cream boat! A huge portion! Very delicious! But the four of us couldn't finish it, haha, because it was really too big! Other recommendations Roasted pork It's a bit like the roasted pork in China, crispy! Very fragrant! The skin is especially crispy! I like it! Daing grilled milk fish This one is also very fragrant and has a special Filipino flavor! Ginataan Na Gulay Various vegetables in coconut milk, I have never tried this way of eating before! The taste is very surprising! Sweet, salty! Spicy, recommended for friends who like coconut milk! Friends who want to try new flavors can try this Filipino dish! My Filipino classmate highly recommended it to me! He said he would go there every time he missed home!

If I can give more than 5 stars, I would!! Not only is LA Rose's food exceptional & authentic but their customer service embodies true Filipino hospitality (lumpia, sisig, lechon, and sinigang are MUSTS!!) My friend reserved for a big party for his birthday dinner & despite the slight miscount in people, they willingly kept adding more chairs/tables & adding more food to the orders with constant smiles on their faces like they truly like their jobs. Most importantly, they allowed us to stay a whole HOUR passed their closing time, even if we were the only people there - still very accommodating!! For all the staff that worked there on Saturday, 1/12, we appreciate you & thanks for making our experience a good night!

This is a cozy place with vintage furniture and friendly staff that serves up traditional homemade style Filipino food with emphasis on simplicity and presentation. Lumpia Shanghai (10pc $12.99): garlic & onions marry the ground pork, but the rolls are tiny for the price. 4/5 stars for flavors. Pancit Palabok: smack garlic sauce with large tender shrimps and soft but chewy noodles, 4/5 stars. 1/4 lb Buchon is tender with a crispy chip-like top skin. Garlic rice is fluffy with hefty garlic flavors, 5/5 stars overall! Oxtail Kare-Kare: mildly flavored, but creamy and PLENTY of meat & veggies underneath, 4/5 stars overall. Go here for chill vibes and comfort food!

I've had LA Rose Cafe on my bookmarks for quite some time, and finally got a chance to visit! As a Filipina who grew up eating my mom and dad's cooking, I'd say Filipino food is one of the things I critique the hardest, because my memories and experiences of the foods are are so ingrained. That being said, the foods at LA Rose are true to the versions I've had with the stand out being the Cebuchon, which was the best I've had so far. The skin was crunchy, but the meat was fork tender and flavorful. It was a fatty delight, bite after bite that had you feeling this is good in a too good kinda way. The palabok was also great, made more like pancit malabon (dry) than regular palabok (wet). While it isn't fair to compare it to my mom's, I still think this is good and better than most which says something because a lot of places that I've been to don't get this dish quite right. Sans rival was also delicious, with a nice buttery cashew flavor. The items that were just ok, were the lumpia Shanghai which has too many carrots, the Juan Carlos which lacked calamari flavor and the empanada which was just alright in filling and crust. Service was slow but very friendly and kind. The restaurant was also cutely decorated. It embodied many living rooms and houses I've dined in as a kid which I thought was really neat. The bathroom could use some updating. If you're looking for good Filipino food, give LA Rose Cafe a try!

Finally got to try LA Rose Cafe and was not disappointed! We had a big feast: lumpia Shanghai, chicken empanadas (my favorite), beef mechado, shrimp Sinigang, pancit and small Buchon. We loved their house made sauces, including their own 'Mang Tomas' sauce. Everything was delicious. The restaurant itself feels cozy, loved all the wooden, Asian accents throughout. We came for an early Monday night dinner and service was quick. No parking lot but there were metered spots in front.

I was in search for some amazing Filipino food and found this place on Tik Tok! Everything was delicious and my boyfriend loved everything while it was his first time truly tasting an array of Filipino food! We ordered chicken adobo, dahing, Shanghai lumpia, pancit bihon, kare kare, and sinigang. The interior is so cute as well -- it truly looks like every Lola's house and made the experience so inviting! The service was great as well and they offered to go through the menu with us and asked if we've been here before. I would highly recommend this place, especially if it's your first introduction to Filipino food!

This place is really quaint and nice. Little store front entrance is so unassuming but when you walk in, it's a different world! The service was quick and pleasant as well as attentive. The food definitely has a homemade taste and quality. If you get a chance to stop in, you should!

came here with a filipino friend because i really wanted to try filipino food in LA. overall pretty good, i think i would come back for the sisig. but my friend said there were better places around LA. food: - sisig: delicious! my favorite thing. my eyes opened wide with the first bite. the pork is salty, oily, and flavorful. the amount of oil stresses me out a bit to be honest, but that's probably want makes it delicious... i just dab the meat on a napkin most of the time to get excess oil off haha - chicken inasal: alright. i think if i only had this i would be okay with it, but it was just completely overshadowed by the sisig, which made me not want to eat too much of it - halo halo: it's super big, way too much for two people. but yummy! there is so much stuff, you can definitely find a few things that you will like in there. we probably wasted more than half of it.. i wish there were a smaller serving size. - garlic rice: don't have too much to say about it, but it went well with everything else. service was a bit slow but was fine. i came in for a late lunch and was seated right away.

Before tonight, the last time we were here was over two decades ago. We ordered Sisig, Kare-Kare, Dinuguan, Fresh Lumpia, Fried Rice and Bread Pudding. More than enough for three to five people. All were good. Place is clean and service was attentive considering that there were two big groups dining at the same time. Just have to be lucky or patient looking for parking. Worth going back to.

It is a strange feeling to be both extremely excited to share about this place, yet also have reservations about if I can do it justice through my writing. I kept thinking of this place because a Filipino buddy of mine had sung high praises about it (and that's rare since many tend to be highly critical when it comes to Filipino cuisine). The stars aligned and I was able to journey here with a Filipina foodie guide. If I could sum up my experience in a single word, it would be "life-changing." As a rookie entering into the world of Filipino cuisine, I have to say they set a very high bar. Interior: The layout of La Rose Cafe is quite interesting. You enter through a tiny, cozy cafe which barely houses a single table next to the glass display of cakes, ensaymadas, etc. Through a doorway on the right, you enter the restaurant itself, which is first a hallway with tables lined up on both sides. It leads to a wider dining area that holds about half a dozen tables along with a piano, fireplace, etc. I love the styling of this place; you really feel like you're dining at an auntie's house with its ornate porcelain plates hung on the wall, frilly curtain covers, and so on. It's vibrant, intimate, and homey all at once. Food: 1) CHICKEN EMPANADA (3/5): We started off with their chicken empanada ($3). While it tasted good, I have to admit this was just okay (I found it to be a little bit on the dry, dense side). 2) LUMPIA (4/5): A classic item, their lumpia ($8). The filling is the standard mix of minced pork and veggies, but I really liked the flaky, lightly crispy, fried wonton skin on it. 3) MARIA CLARA (3.5/5): To wash things down, I went with their Maria Clara ($7). It's a mix of iced tea, calamansi, honey, and maraschino cherries. It's like a Shirley Temple, though, I would have liked a little more of that lovely, citrusy bite of the calamansi to come through. 4) PANCIT PALABOK (4.5/5): First entree was Pancit Palabok ($17 for regular size). My friend loved that their version is more of the dry style that she grew up with. This is a noodle dish topped with boiled eggs, garlic, scallions, shrimp, pork, and chicharon (crispy pork). To me, it's like breakfast pasta, and I am all for it. 5) BUCHON (5/5): The rock star of the meal is their Buchon (Cebu style Lechon) - 1/2 lb for $17! It's a culinary masterpiece that they created a perfectly delicate, crispy pork skin on top with the juiciest, most tender, richly flavorful pork belly underneath. Already amazing on its own, but you elevate it into another realm by dipping it into their homemade liver sauce. Trust me, I get some of you might have reservations when you hear that (I am not a fan of liver usually because of its metallic taste). Thus, it was such a shock that this sauce has none of that, but instead it is an ADDICTIVELY sweet, tangy sauce that had me wanting to pour it all over all my foods. I still salivate at the memory of their lechon. Also, it goes without saying that you have to upgrade to garlic rice. Their garlic rice has the right amount of garlic bite infused in it. 6) SAN RIVAL CAKE (5/5): To round out this decadent meal, we also got a slice of their Sans Rival cake ($8). It's so, so sinfully delicious. It's an ultra buttery cake with dense layers of meringue, nuts, and cake. It's overkill with yummyness. Do yourself a favor and check this place out ASAP!

Nice family dining restaurant. This is my first time Filipino restaurant. Food was amazing but maybe short staff on that day? By the time we were served it's already one hour. It was all good, we enjoyed special drink and had good gathering. I was so impressed how crispy fish meal was. Excellent food and enjoyed dessert. Halo Halo you gotta eat quick because those melt fast.

This is a charming neighborhood spot that every neighborhood wishes they had. This was my first time trying Filipino food and I'm so here for the cultural experience. The staff were so kind, just genuine good-hearted people. They explained the menu to me patiently, even when I had strange questions lol. I tried the "pork tocino". I didn't know it would be sweet. But it was good. If I had any changes I would say I wish it came with veggies and egg standard. You have to pick one or the other and I picked the egg then realized it really could have used some veggies. I liked my calamansi drink. It was so refreshing and you get free refills! I can't wait to come again and try some desserts. Yum!

I heard about this place on TikTok and was really excited to try it for my birthday. The food was delicious, but the service wasn't great. Bare minimum. We complimented them on the food, and the server just mumbled thank you and walked away. Next time I'll probably just get my food to go

Delicious food, cozy ambiance, friendly staff. We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and we were seated within 10 mns. The whole place feels cozy and welcoming. The food was tasty, the five of us ordered ginataang gulay, lumpia, and crispy pata and had plenty of leftovers. I would definitely come back again. Downside is you have to find street parking

Quintessential Filipino food that's a notch up the common Filipino restaurant fare...in Los Angeles Service is above par... Place is kept spotless.... Authentic recipes and fresh ingredients... You can tell that they truly put the effort into their process...what a treat! We start with some Calamansit ... mine has Mascerino Cherry juice in it...tasted almost like fruit punch... genius touch.... The Sinigang broth is probably the best I've ever had... The Lumpiang is like a fresh Vietnamese spring roll but on steroids... it's just ONE!!! Buchón and dipping sauce can be cut with a spoon but soooo deceitfully crispy on the outside... we got the 1/4 pound order... small but filling for two Halo Halo ... hell no!!! Please no more ... I'm gonna blow!!! But we finished it ... not proud of it but hey... it tasted so fresh and not too sweet... just like I like it... Then cakes to go... Spent around $70 for dinner and $15 for the to go cakes... so prices were very reasonable... considering the quality of service and quality of ingredients.... We will definitely be back to try a slew of other dishes done the right way... With lots of love... LA Rose Cafe ... you complete me... It's all Roses here...
