In-Person Iftar: Where Montreal’s Muslim Community Goes to Break Fast During Ramadan | Eater Montreal

"This Tunisian restaurant in Rosemont continues with traditional special meals for Iftar, starting with brik à l’oeuf, a choice of soup, two salads, and a choice of main course. Owner Elyes Chaabani believes strongly in the charitable element of the holy month, with students eating here for free during the holiday." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

The Best Restaurants in Rosemont (Montreal) | Eater Montreal

"This Tunisian spot delivers rich Mediterranean flavours in a homey, warm space. Bring a bottle of your own wine to enjoy with a tagine or one of the restaurant’s signature briks (filo pastry pockets stuffed with meats, veggies, cheeses and eggs)." - Valerie Silva

Montreal Restaurants Prepare Menus For a Second Takeout-Only Ramadan | Eater Montreal

"On Beaubien East I see owner Elyes Chaabani keeping charity and community at the forefront of Ramadan: he traditionally offers a simple meal to students to break the fast and is preparing a classic Tunisian iftar menu that includes a shorba (lentil soup) with pearled barley and fish, lamb or chicken, and a choice of three salads—mechouia (grilled tomatoes, peppers, thyme and garlic), Tunisienne (cucumber, peppers, onions and lemon) or houria (carrots, harissa and garlic)—served with a main of the day such as couscous or a lamb tagine." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

Tunisian Restaurant Medina Brings Tagines to the Plateau | Eater Montreal

"On Beaubien Street, I note La Rose des Sables is Elyes Chaabani’s Rosemont Tunisian spot and operates as BYOB, in contrast to his licensed Medina on St-Denis." - Tim Forster

Great food! I had the lamb couscous and it was very tasty. It was a huge plate, basically took half of it home so price is very reasonable for the size. I also shared a brick entrée and it was delicious. Food service is fast but for other things like soft drinks, a bit slower. The place is very well decorated! We forgot it was bring your own wine so that would have been a plus for next time. Definitely recommend if you are craving couscous or tajine!

The restaurant is small, but beautiful decorated. The dishes were comfort food, like made from home. We went on a Tuesday evening without reservation and it was perfect. We decided last minute to go for a restaurant for this nice weather. We ordered merguez and lamb. Very flavorful and the amount of couscous was huge so we had some leftovers for the next day. The customer service was very nice. It's a BYOW resto. That's a plus. We were able to find parking just across the street.

I was a little disappointed with the quality of food here at least when it came to the appetizers and salad. The brick was one giant piece instead of smaller shareable ones, the salad was supposed to have tuna in it and that was missing, additionally it came with half of a boiled egg. This isn't the US, we aren't in an egg shortage and for the price of the salad I think you can afford to put a full egg in there, especially since you skimped out on the tuna. The tagines were definitely the saving grace of this meal. They were very well made, hearty and served with a generous portion of couscous. If I had to come back here, the tagines would be all I ordered. Service was decent and the atmosphere of the restaurant is very cozy and intimate. Perfect for a date night.

Google
This is the best Tunisian food I’ve ever had before. The portion was huge and the price was very reasonable. I had to take the leftovers home. Their lamb is just delicious. The only thing is that it was a bit hot in the restaurant and the air conditioner wasn’t really efficient enough. But I will definitely visit again.

Google
Quiant little place to first experience Tunisian food. I think I never tried lamb so good. Highly recommended.

Yelp
We visited MTL from NYC (no Tunisian restaurants) for the weekend and had dinner here two nights in a row. The food is an elevated approach towards traditional Tunisian dishes and it's BYOB! La Rose Des Sables will be one of our culinary destinations when we visit MTL. The restaurant is a real gem.

Yelp
Perfection! Drove 30 mins from our hotel downtown -- beautiful cozy restaurant also -- we did take away, drove it back and enjoyed it tremendously. Merci Beaucoup!

Yelp
Most of the food was good, not exceptional but good. The 1 dish that REALLY stood out was the lamb tajine. I normally dislike lamb but this was amazing, tender, juicy, fatty. The baladi show was nice, a little weird in such a tiny crammed restaurant but it was entertaining. The service was good, we had to take the group menu as we were 7. All the plates came rather quickly but the main dishes didn't come all together it was 1 at a time.

Yelp
Recently visited for dinner with some friends and enjoyed our meal! Highly recommend the chakchouka and the chicken tajine! The service was friendly and I loved the overall vibe of the restaurant which was cozy and gave you the feeling of being transported to Tunisia. It's also a BYOW, which is always a nice touch. Loved the mint tea we got at the end of the meal as well!

Yelp
We ordered for take out the Table d'hôte. It was ready for pickup the pickup time with just a few minutes delay for final prep and package, during which we settled our bill. Not that we mined this, as it ensured that our food was hot and not laying around getting cold. On to the food, our order consisted of a sampling of an entree of a Brik, a crisp thin triangle fried dough wrapping an egg with a runny yolk inside it. Sumptuous is the word that describes it best. Second course, a trio of salads: Tunisian, Houria and Chicken. All were tasty, refreshing and seasoned well, making the refreshing with a bit of a floral note. Our main course was a Lamb Tanjine. The lamb was cooked down to tender perfection. Its juices flavored by the red peppers and onions that cooked along with it. It was accompanied by a vegetable couscous, which also had red peppers and carrots in it, giving it hint of sweetness to it that countered the meatiness of the lamb. We chose to pair our meal with a lovely medium body red wine from the Landguedoc-Roussillon region of France, Domaine d'Aupilhac Languedoc Montpeyroux Les Cocalières, 2018. This wine, had just the right amount of fruit to it, without being jammy and finish with a slight acidity that refreshes your palate with out being eye opening. Pleasant to drink on its own, it paired well with the delicate flavours of our dishes. We ended our meal with a traditional mint tea and fine bit sized baklava. A fitting end to a fine meal that was comforting on a winter night.

Yelp
Surprisingly busy restaurant for a Tuesday night and for good reason! Small and intimate dining space with authentic Tunisian decor. The food and presentation were lovingly prepared and delicious. Try the Brick, Tagine and Couscous dishes and don't forget to bring your fave bottle of wine.

Yelp
The evening menu is overpriced for the quality of food in my opinion. The service was slow, it took more than 1h30 to get our main dish. There was a baladi show (we even participated!) on this Saturday evening, that was clearly the highlight of the night.
