La Rotonde – Le Negresco · Nice
I have visited La Rotonde several times, and each experience has been exceptional. This restaurant has a very special atmosphere that you only find at Le Negresco. The round dining room, with its historical character, playful architectural details and views of the Promenade des Anglais, is truly unique — a space full of elegance, personality and warmth.
The cuisine unmistakably reflects the signature of Virginie Basselot, Meilleur Ouvrier de France — one of the rarest and most prestigious distinctions in French gastronomy — and a Michelin-starred chef. She began her career in some of France’s most renowned establishments, including Hôtel Le Crillon in Paris, and later at the Grand Hôtel in Oslo, where she earned a Michelin star. Since returning to France, she has shaped the culinary identity of Le Negresco with a clear philosophy: precise technique, authentic flavours and a deep respect for regional products. Her cuisine is both powerful and refined, modern yet rooted in tradition — a signature you recognize immediately.
Every product is treated with respect and allowed to shine. You can feel her love for the flavours of southern France and how masterfully she blends tradition with contemporary elegance. This is what makes La Rotonde so special for me — you sense her identity from the very first bite.
The value for money is remarkable. For a restaurant located inside the legendary Negresco, expectations are naturally high — and they are fully met. The quality of the ingredients, the balance of the menus and the craftsmanship on each plate come together beautifully. It is always a pleasure to experience how much care and generosity go into every dish.
The service is professional, attentive and warm, without ever feeling intrusive. The team creates an atmosphere in which you feel welcome from the very first moment. It is this blend of elegance, kindness and genuine hospitality that makes every visit so enjoyable.
Le Negresco itself is far more than a hotel — it is a cultural landmark of the Côte d’Azur. For more than 110 years, it has united art, history and hospitality in a remarkable way. You can feel this heritage in every room, and this same spirit gives La Rotonde its distinctive soul.
La Rotonde is a place I love to return to — every experience has been harmonious, delicious and marked by true hospitality. A restaurant with identity, consistent quality and a generous touch of southern French charm.
