This Woman Has Been Cooking a Stew for Weeks And Is Inviting New Yorkers to Join | Eater NY

"The Soho hotel that also houses Le Coucou now has a neighboring restaurant called La Rubia; its menu is spearheaded by Lucas Harrell, who worked at Francie and the Musket Room, and looks to his Latin American heritage as a reference, including his grandmother’s recipe for flan, according to the New York Times." - Emma Orlow

-Chic Cafe- Great vibe, chilled spot inside the lobby of 11 Howard Hotel. Pasta dish is delicious. Grilled salmon is juicy just right. Tuna Tartare is a tad too salty for my taste. Craft cocktails offered by skilled bartenders. Servers are caring and attentive. Beautifully decorated, considered design.

Cool cuban vibe. Server was very kind even though she was very busy! Cheese plate was a great snack and rose was refreshing and espresso martini hit the spot. ☺️

New place, drinks were really good. We had the pisco sour and old fashioned. The Pulsd deal is good value for money

My recent visit to La Rubia was nothing short of a culinary catastrophe. To start, the cocktails were so bland they tasted like mocktails—seriously, what’s the point? It felt like the bartender didn’t even bother to add any spirit, just a splash of juice and a lot of fizz. If I wanted a non-alcoholic drink, I would have ordered one. Then there were the crudos, which were reminiscent of frozen fish straight from the Trader Joe’s freezer section. There was zero freshness, and the portions were comically small for the outrageous prices. I left feeling hungry and cheated. To top it all off, I was seated next to a patron who revealed that “Her Name Was Carmen” is actually the sister restaurant of La Rubia. I couldn’t believe my ears! I’ve written scathing reviews about Carmen in the past, and hearing this just confirmed my worst fears about La Rubia. It seems both places are competing for the title of most disappointing dining experience. Overall, La Rubia is a total letdown. Save your time and money—there are far better options out there. Avoid this place at all costs!

Great food and atmosphere! Had probably the smoothest old fashion I’ve ever had.

I emailed a week prior to asking for a reservation for my friend’s birthday (3 people) dinner as well as phoned up telephone number . NEVER HEARD BACK Glad they are doing so well, they can afford to ignore request for reservation. I hear back from hottest places in Manhattan! Good luck 😂😂

Yelp
Fantastic drinks! Best drinks we've had in NYC so far! We literally slept on this place (11 Howard), after 2 days we finally decided to stop in and we wish we would have started here.

Yelp
Diana puts one at ease immediately. She took care of me at La Rubia as if I have been there the past 20 years and ordered the same items on the menu over and over. I have only walked by twice, ordered a coffee but for some reason, once you see Diana smile, you feel instantly drawn into La Rubia as if she is really a New York siren herself. I have never tried their delicious Beet and Kale juice until today and it was very refreshing. Sardines and Mussels Avocado toast catapulted the place to the top of my list as go-to for refined, well executed tapas-like selection on a cozy, relaxed Saturday afternoon. Warm, friendly with a lot of conversational flair, Diana labored through all hour while I was seated, having at least 10 other orders to work through. The place was kept so beautiful and clean. Details in the plating and embossed silverware lend immense finesse to overall ambience and class. Soothing island music played steadily as if Cafe Del Mar found new ground in La Rubia to anchor and root its spiritually uplifting, progressive, new sound. Lucky me!
