"Impromptu trips to La Sandwicherie are as inevitable in Miami as traffic, terrifyingly hot summers, and spotting mango thieves in your backyard. It’s hard not to cross paths with this little sidewalk sandwich cafe eventually. Maybe it’ll be for some 3am late-night food after beers at Mac’s across the street, or 3pm after a long, hot beach day. "If you spent an hour chasing your umbrella down the beach after an unexpected gust of wind and are now cartoon hungry—like, everything you look at is turning into a giant ham—then rush to La Sandwicherie. The South Beach sidewalk cafe is known as a late-night spot, so they’ve seen much worse than your sandy ankles, but this place is just as good sober and when the sun’s out. The sandwiches are huge, made to order, and stuffed generously with just about anything you can think of. "We’d like to hire David Attenborough to narrate the scene at La Sandwicherie in South Beach at 3:30am on a Saturday night. There is no organized ordering system at the sidewalk window, which might make you feel like a hyena fighting over a fresh kill. Our advice: stand your ground and make constant eye contact with the staff hustling behind the counter, they’ll get to you quicker than you think. The sandwiches—all thick and overflowing with vegetables, meat, and whatever else you want them to stuff in there—are worth it. "There are certain things Miami needs less of—like tow trucks, flooding, and boaters who don’t respect no-wake manatee zones. And then there are things we are happy to see throughout the city, like La Sandwicherie. Our favorite South Beach sandwich shop thankfully has multiple locations, including one in Brickell. This one not only has AC, but is also open till 5am. Still, we’ll happily eat these huge sandwiches any time of day, whether or not we’ve already had seven beers." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
"Most of the food on this guide is good by post-midnight standards, but La Sandwicherie is one of our favorite places to eat in South Beach no matter the time of day. They do sandwiches here, served on croissants or huge baguettes. They’re customizable, but generally come overflowing with veggies, meat, and an excellent vinaigrette that they sell in bottles to-go. Just be aware that when it’s really busy, ordering can be chaos. There is no organized line; it’s more a mass scrum of hungry zombies.
