At La Santa Tacos, cocktails impress, but the food is just-fine - Review - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"La Santa Tacos & Bar in Midtown has had a lot of identities in a short period of time. It used to be The Lawrence and then it was Rwby. Now, it’s a taco spot where the drinks take priority, and the food is just along for the ride. The Mexican street tacos here are serviceable—the barbacoa is tender but lacks the punch of flavor needed to make it worthy of a reorder, and the camarones and pollo asado are fine, but forgettable. The ceviche is a miss with its dull marinade, while the nachos—stacked with tortillas, jalapeños, and cheese—prioritize size over seasoning. The cocktails, however, hold their own, especially the refreshing, citrusy, Mexican Sunset and the La Santa, which is bright and tangy, a classic margarita done right. When you're on Juniper and need a spot for drinks—with a taco on standby to soak up the tequila—La Santa will get the job done. Food Rundown Mexican Sunset Lighter than a margarita, this citrusy tequila cocktail almost makes you want to find the nearest pool float. A solid pick when you want a change from the sweeter and tarter margarita. La Santa A classic margarita, done right—bright, balanced, and tangy. photo credit: Sarah Newman Barbacoa Taco The meat is tender but under seasoned. And the corn tortillas don’t bring much to the table. Not bad, not great. PlayMute video credit: Sarah Newman Pollo Asado Mildly seasoned and forgettable. Camarones One of the better tacos here. The shrimp is plump, though the seasoning doesn’t do much heavy lifting. Nopales Asados Taco The cactus is a little too slimy like it never touched the grill. Skip this. photo credit: Sarah Newman photo credit: Sarah Newman photo credit: Sarah Newman Pause Unmute" - Jacinta Howard

The New Atlanta Restaurant Openings You Should Know About

"Expect for Mexican dishes like tacos, tortas, and enchiladas at Midtown's newest restaurant. And prepare for another neon sign and grass wall setting if that's not already your default expectation." - juli horsford, jacinta howard

To be honest, I found the food and drinks here so far to be quite average. Nothing terrible - nothing to knock your socks off. That is, with one exception: the flan was probably the best I've had in the US. Seriously. Not since Mexico City have I had better flan. As for the other food, I only had a quesadilla and sangria, so I would give it 3.5-4 stars for now and will wait until I try more food. I will, however, give a shout out to the amazing staff. The bartender, servers, and runners were all fantastic and friendly. That alone would get me to return!

La Santa Tacos & Bar is easily one of the best Mexican spots I’ve been to in Atlanta. I ordered the carnitas tacos, and they were packed with flavor—definitely recommend them. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the entire vibe of the place made for a great night out. What really made the experience stand out, though, was the service. Diego was our waiter, and he was absolutely exceptional. He didn’t wait for us to ask for anything—he just brought everything we might need ahead of time: sauces, napkins, extra limes, you name it. It’s rare to get that kind of attentive and thoughtful service, and it honestly made the whole meal feel even more enjoyable. Food, service, and atmosphere all get a 10/10 from me. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this spot to friends.

The food at La Santa is so good. I got shrimp nachos and my friend got the fiesta bowl. The portions are great and the food is delicious. My server Juan was very attentive and gave great customer service!! Definitely ask for him if you go.

This is a nice taco spot on the corner of busy Midtown. Our waiter was really nice. I didn't catch her name, but she's the waiter from Cartagena, Colombia. We started off with the chips and dips. The queso was my favorite! Then we had the chicken soup, which was flavorful and satisfying. We got a pitcher of the passion fruit cocktail which was yummy. We sat outside, so of course a bug flew into his glass. Our waiter kindly gave us a free cocktail of the same flavor as a replacement. Lastly, we had the beef and pollo tacos. I had the mild sauce to squeeze on top. The tacos were decent, but I've had better tacos elsewhere. Would I return? Yes! I'd come back. The ambience and décor indoor and on the patio was beautiful and inviting.

Had an EXCELLENT first impression at La Santa Tacos and Bar ! Went for a birthday dinner and service was excellent and beyond. Food was incredible and the atmosphere was on point. Our waiter Diego went beyond to ensure all of us were satisfied by recommending dishes and drinks and providing professional customer service . I will definitely be going back. I would highly recommend coming here and ask for Diego!

It was very difficult to have a convo, very loud. Carnitas tacos were dry but the cacti taco was very good and the sangria was excellent. The sopa pollo was outstanding. Service was 3 different servers and still slow unresponsive.

Met a few friends for dinner here while we were in town and enjoyed a lovely dinner on the restaurant patio with some great drinks (all the margaritas are wonderful) and some delicious food. The bistec asado tacos were the highlight for me. Service was excellent

Diego was our server and from the moment I entered, he was on it. The food and drinks came pretty quick for our party of 7. He kept checking up on us pretty often. He had great recommendation and will definitely need to return to explore the rest of the menu. Excellent job!

Yelp
Ambiance was super dark and cool, music was fun but not too loud so you couldn't hear people talking. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. The food was DELICIOUS. Really well seasoned chicken and steak tacos. Ordered a margarita as well and it was very strong. Highly recommend! Excited to bring more people here.

Yelp
Came here on opening night and had a blast!! There was a DJ with great music, the place was packed... was greeted by the owner and was waited by Natalie... party of 4, had several rounds of great cocktails; probably the most authentic food in ATL... very tasty Mexican food and excellent service... came back had barbacoa tacos and they were delicious...give them a try, you will not be disappointed...
