In Paris, Pastry Chef Maxence Barbot Is Le Bristol Hotel's Dessert Visionary

"I have a personal attachment to La Scène Thélème, where Chef Rudy Langlais impresses me with generous, technical and deeply indulgent cuisine." - Nicola Leigh Stewart

"At 18 rue Troyon, art meets gastronomy. In fact, the restaurant is named afterL'Abbaye de Thélème, a utopia conjured up by Rabelais. Rudy Langlais, the trusted second-in-command here since 2018, has recently taken over the reins in the kitchen. He and his team deliver refined, delicate dishes with plenty of personality, using first-class produce: chawanmushi, lobster, fennel confit, lemon; grilled saddle of lamb, courgette flower, citron, black garlic, miso powder – this is high-precision work! Good recommendations from the sommelier." - Michelin Inspector

I’d say this is a place you can go to just to tell people you’ve had Michelin for a low price. The food, good, but nothing memorable, I’ve had way better ones even at non-Michelin restaurants or Michelin recommended ones. The tea that came with the dessert was bland like dish water. The service, when one waiter poured my water the water literally spilled out of my glass and they acted like they’re in a rush. Just overall underwhelming…Go try other Michelin one star restaurants

we came here for our last meal in paris and was not disappointed! we left with smiles and a full full belly. their 7 course tasting menu was more than enough food. our highlights of the night were the first few small bites, all the fish dishes, and the desserts. then at the end we tried some of their special lemongrass tea which was blue! the service was excellent, one of our friends loved their bread and they gave us a loaf to go. the sommelier was also very knowledgeable and the wine drinkers at the table all enjoyed their pairings. for an more upscale meal in paris, i would recommend it.

My second dinner there in 3 years. We had the full tasting menu with wine pairing. The food was beautifully executed, an artistic marriage of ingredients and flavours. They proposed to replace the duck with Simmentaler beef, but we found the meat a bit tough. Were probably hoping for Wagyu beef instead. The wines were interesting, though maybe the servings could be a bit more generous. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, but probably a bit too efficient as we finished the whole meal in record time.

We had dinner here. Service was impeccable -- warm, caring, attentive, and efficient. The most efficient service among all the Paris Michelin-starred restaurants we have tried in this trip. The five-course dinner included many memorable items. Most impressive were the Japanese style egg custard, the scallops, the pigeon, the pre-dessert of apple jelly with caramelized lemon peels, and the best pavlova I ever tasted. The glass of Burgundy wine selected by our attendant to accompany this delicious yet delicate meal was also perfect. Kudos to the chef and the entire team.

I had the €49 two-course lunch menu. We started with some delicious small bites. The fish course was very good, and I loved the veg and sauce. The dessert course was layered, complex and tasty. We finished with some sweeter small bites, including hibiscus liquid served in a test tube which was very aromatic and refreshing. It was a fun Michelin experience that was not bank-breaking, with flawless warm service.

We were a group of 4 and went for dinner. We were sat at the back of the restaurant - not much of an atmosphere there unfortunately. Our waiter was fine and friendly enough. We each had the 5 course menu. There were some hits and some misses - we especially liked the fish and meat but wouldn't say the preparation or flavor profiles were unique.

Google
A good Michelin one-star restaurant that lives up to its rating, but we didn’t experience the ‘wow’ factor. The menu features fairly basic ingredients and straightforward execution, which, while well-prepared, lacked the creativity

Google
We ordered the 7 courses. Good mix of Japanese and French cuisine. The flavor is well controlled from an Asian angle: it’s not too sour as others. I can see the Japanese style from the dishes: tempura of zucchini; sushi rice, etc. worth the money spent

Yelp
Just a fantastic lunch experience. I think it was a 69 EUR set menu with 12 EUR Ossetra Caviar supplement which I could have done without. Beautiful and wonderful tasting food all around.

Yelp
If you want a wild ride for your taste buds, come here. Each plate was a unique experience, as the flavors would settle in and change right on your tongue. The plates themselves were hit or miss for me, but definitely things I have never imagined the combinations of. All I can suggest is to try it for yourself. I had the 115 euro meal. For two the total came to 244 euro.

Yelp
We picked this restaurant because It's a one Michelin restaurant, we actually went for 2 Michelin the day before so we are happy with menu they offered and very satisfied with the price. Food was great, every dish was delicious with great presentations we all enjoyed from the first course to desserts more than the 2 Michelin restaurant, my husband and I we both think it's great worth for the price you paid. The reason I gave 4 starts instead of 5 because I think there's improvement need on the service team, service was the only thing we didn't like, I think the staffs need more training to meet a Michelin standers. We first entered the restaurant the hostess didn't greet us and seemed was bothered by us that was strange to start, second was our waitress has very long nails every time when she brings dishes to our table we could see her long nails stood out more than the dishes, they are distracting and looked unprofessional if she were in a café or a bistro I wouldn't say a thing since it's a Michelin restaurant I think they should have higher standards, third was during the courses of our meal we could heard the servers wearing high heels walking back and forth in the restaurant on the hardwood floor it's another distracting thing, I felt they are like robots bring the dishes to you table and give the name of the dish then leave without much smiles or passions. Michelin restaurants hold higher stander in any levels, decor, services and food and my husband and I have been to many michelin restaurants we'd experienced excellent services and food that's why kept us going whenever we can, I don't know because of the pandemic or overwhelmed by the tourists this year it's not like used to be.

Yelp
I had dinner there my last day in Paris recently. I almost cancelled my reservation-because I had a NASTY lunch and the heartburn was just setting in. There was no way I was going to survive a heavy tasting menu. But I'm an American godammit! I was born to eat myself into an early grave! It turned out to be a very good decision. The food was amazing and surprisingly lIght. Refreshing and satisfying at the same time. And my heartburn went away almost immediately. I felt restored. That on top of exquisite and friendly service made this an extremely memorable experience.
