11/03/17: 4.5 out of 5 - We often visit La Sen for a good meal. Brought the in-laws in with the wife. Father-in-law's first time eating here. He enjoyed the food and ambiance as much as we did. The service and food was on point. Now he wants to return back with his friends to share the goodness of the food. 09/01/17: 4.0 out of 5 - Place was busy and a bit understaffed for a Friday. However, our food server was communicative with is going on. I tried the Seafood Bird's Nest dish. It was okay. I've had others to compare it to. It needed more sauce to make it better and tastier. Regardless, this place is still great to come to enjoy simply good food with friends and family. 08/02/17: 4.5 out of 5 - Came here today to get out of the heat of cooking at home. So I went with the Dac Biet - Sai Gon Combination with noodles (rice is an option). It was the first time I've had this dish considering the many times I've been here. It was very tasty and refreshingly hit the spot in on a hot day. Great service as usual and the place was nice and cool. 07/10/17: 4.5 out of 5 - This La Sen in West Linn provides it all; great service, cleanliness, and good food all at a very reasonable price. Although it's been awhile, I really do like and prefer this place for my Vietnamese fix. 01/15/17: 4.5 out of 5 - This was my third visit here, and my first review for this location. One thing about this place is that it's actually closer for me and my wife for good Vietnamese. The portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable. The food is tasty and somewhat catered to American taste buds, but still tasty. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and tasteful decor. Kept quite clean with friendly, attentive staff. I would definitely suggest trying out this place once and decide for yourself. I obviously plan to go back. Enjoy!

04/02/19: 4.5 out 5 - This place is actually the first location before its expansion. Much like the other locations, this place has very good food, great table service and you can order at the counter to go. The place isn't a very big space, but it is clean and decoratively tasteful. La Sen has a variety of Vietnamese items to choose from. Was very surprised to see that they do have Banh Mi, which is a Vietnamese sandwich on a French baguette of sorts. All which is quite tasty and not very pricey. Definitely recommend trying it once and decide for yourself. I'll definitely go back when in the area. Enjoy!

Had an excellent lunch today at La Sen I had the beef noodle stew which I thoroughly enjoyed and my wife had the Saigon combo with vermicelli. Good value also. Definitely coming back

What a great find, wife and I had been driving around for over an hour trying to find a place that was open so we could grab lunch. Weather was awful, and it was after Christmas, kind of a dead week. Had actually given up and we’re headed home when we spotted this place open. Dove into a parking place and grabbed a table. Ordered based on the recommendations of our server. He was great, cheerful and helpful. The food was legit, better than I had expected. Hope to return to try some more menu options.

My friend and I recently decided to order from this restaurant for delivery because the food sounded good... fortunately we were not at all disappointed! I ordered the lemongrass chili chicken and every bite was so flavorful. Just the right amount of spice, and very savory. My friend ordered the drunken fried chicken and she loved it so much that she went back for it the next day. We also tried the calamari... which despite being a bit too hard for us to eat, was extremely flavorful. Definitely a delicious place to get some Asian cuisine.

Just had some food brought to me. I ordered the Da Nang Turmeric Noodles. The food was very tasty. Unfortunately, when I got to the bottom of the broth, I chewed on something hard. I thought it was a seed from the jalapeño, but it ended up being a piece of sharp plastic 😬 For some reason it is not allowing an option for photo.

So disappointed. As the prices of their dishes go up, the quality goes down. And they more often than not, get the order wrong. The sliced mango salad is now only sliced mangoes with a sliver of red onion and jicama with a shrimp. Not worth $13.50. Avoid this place. There are many more Vietnamese places that are so much better.

Lá Sen is hands down my favorite pho spot--nothing else compares. I usually order the beef pho with shrimp and a Thai tea, and the flavor blows every other pho place out of the water. The broth is rich, the ingredients are always fresh, and everything is consistently delicious. The service is just as impressive. The staff is friendly, quick, and attentive--every time I walk in, the guy remembers my order and checks to see if I want "the usual." That personal touch makes all the difference. The vibe inside is great too. The music is always on point, and the food comes out fast, which makes it an easy go-to whether I'm dining in or grabbing something quick. If you're looking for amazing pho and an all-around great experience, Lá Sen is it.

Tonight we were both craving something light and flavorful and I found LaSen's menu seemed to fit the bill. I got the Lemongrass salmon and my husband chose the teriyaki chicken. The chicken, from what my husband said, was "okay."he also said he wouldn't cross the street to eat it again, but it looked decent. On the other hand, my salmon was cooked by someone who much have a vengeance against seafood. It was super dry, like leather, with hard edges that permeated what could have possibly been the soft center. It might as well have had bones in it, I wouldn't have noticed. The sauce it came with was fine, as was the rice, but the dish was overloaded with very sour dressed jicama and raw onion. The only saving grace was that there was a lot of basil. Overall, I am not sure I would ever order from LaSen again. Ordered from GrubHub - but the driver cannot be faulted as she came direct from LaSen in West Linn to my house in Gladstone, not very far.

Love the decor. Haven't had a bad experience in the many times I've came. I always enjoy my food here. Vietnamese coffee is good not too sweet but strong. I also like the Pho Ga, Lemongrass chicken, Banh mi, and luc lac beef. Service is fine, I'm always greeted and food comes in a timely manner.

This is a small chain, and they do traditional Vietnamese food. All the vegetables are so fresh and cooked to retain their flavor. The hardest part is not over ordering, as everything looks so good on the menu! We generally get our meals to go, but they have a quaint area to dine in, as well.

Really enjoyed our meal here! The salad rolls were my favorite and had a surprise crunch to them(pretty sure it was chopped and fried spring roll wrapper). Pho was excellent, as was the spring roll!

Classic Asian food and very nice attendant. If you have an Asian stomach, this is definitely a good place to go.

Updated my review and it's the same as the Tualatin location. I think they got new cooks. I have eaten there a few times since my review and the food tastes a little different. Much more flavor.

Yuck. Chain Vietnamese food that is mediocre to poor. Only would go back again if all there was was a fast food burger joint for health reasons.

I'm finicky about Cha Gio, so was disappointed last week as these very special rice paper rolls are an important aspect of Vietnamese cuisine and need to be made fresh; wheat wrappers ruin the essential texture and flavor. La Sen has a reasonably good menu and we ordered the vermicelli Bun Dac Biet with extra Nuc Mam sauce, which was served in style. It was apparent the Cha Gio were wheat wrapped and one bite confirmed this. Furthermore the filling was totally mush! As much as I like this place I won't be back until my Cha Gio demands are met.

Good consistent and authentic Vietnamese food and Pho with a good kids' menu and vegetarian options. The service is friendly and the food is usually pretty quick (unless they get slammed, which isn't their fault). The only thing I wish was that the Pho had more of the traditional meat toppings available; I can see why tripe and tendon might not be for the squeamish, but it's part of the fun!

This has been one of my go-to spots for years. The vermicelli noodles with pot stickers is a must! Fresh rolls are amazing and the pho is awesome. Service is always friendly and atmosphere is always clean and inviting!

Great food, kind customer service. This restaurant has a lovely dining area, dark colors with good lighting make it a cozy date spot, solo dinner or an evening with friends. I always enjoy the food here. The salad rolls with peanut sauce are SO tasty! The parking lot is a little tight, and stressful, but that's not La Sen's fault. Just something to note if you have parking anxiety.

Another great lunch! I had to share this remarkable meal my husband ordered. Seafood birds nest. I can't wait to go back and order it for myself. I got the drunken chicken and it was delicious too. Everything was cooked perfectly and our server was a sweetheart. We love this place.

Overpriced mediocre food. I got the only pho that had spicy in the name and it was not whatsoever. House made peanut sauce was water down and runny and salad wraps had overpowering basil throughout. Broth was cold and wanted to love the brisket but seemed old and chewy... One and done!

I came here on my lunch break craving pho, I ended up with the seafood noodle soup and it was amazing! Lots of options on the menu looked good. I'll be back to try more

The pho is packed with flavor and is always fresh. This is my go to spot to order Pho. Their service is great!

Great food. The salad rolls never disappoint. Ordered Beef Pho and Ginger Chicken Rice. Service was quick and friendly.

We have been on a vermicelli bowl kick, as of late. I like the Pho place in Sandy and have tried a couple over the past month. We stopped in around 1pm and they looked like lunch rush was just finishing as we got the last table but people were leaving. Service was fast, but as usual when they don't write your order down it does turn out the way you expect. We ordered salad rolls and she never put them in. That was the one star reduction. They give you water in disposable cups and don't come back once they leave your food. Food was very fresh and vegetarian dressing for bowl was really good. Nothing seemed overly oily- like another place we had eaten. We each got the garlic honey pork and egg roll bowl. This is for sure the new favorite and prices aren't bad.

Food is delicious. I got the catfish claypot. It came out fast and still bubbling as its boiling. Well served in a pot. Friendly staffs and nice chill music.

A great Vietnamese spot with a modern touch. While seated and waiting to order we noticed a looong line of Togo orders waiting to be picked up, and took it as a hopeful sign of things to come. The food was great, awesome quality and presentation. I would say that the prices are a bit higher than what I'd usually expect at a home style viet/pho place. And with quality comes other effects, as the service was impacted by how busy the Togo orders were going. We couldn't sit at a larger more comfortable table, even though the restaurant was not even a third full. Also getting the bill took a while, because the service was getting slammed with phone orders and pick ups. Nonetheless, a small price to pay for some good eats. Ordered the fresh coconut spring rolls (not pictured), beef noodle soup, and catfish clay pot (not pictured). Both were packed with flavor, especially the clay pot. A hearty warm bowl on a cold Oregon City night hit the spot. Can't wait to explore more of the menu. Eyeing the roasted duck pho.

OH MY GOSH! I'm a super picky eater but friends invited us for dinner so I wanted to be polite. I figured I'd just eat rice. I ended up ordering lemon grass crusted salmon with ginger sauce and mango salad. Everyone else ordered authentic cuisine. Every plate was beautifully put together ( I wish I took a picture!) it all tasted so perfectly good! We will DEFINITELY be returning!

My daughter and I eat here every week, usually at the West Linn location. We have never been disappointed with the food or service. We almost always get the pho and either lemongrass tofu with vegetarian egg roll, or the eggplant clay pot. We have also enjoyed the vegetarian egg rolls as an appetizer. All of these dishes are delicious. The restaurant can get crowded but I have never had to wait for a table. The food is always served hot. In short, La Sen is always delightful!

While we have been here many times this was by far our worst experience. There were 4 adults and two kids in our group (two checks) and since there were 6 of us they added an 18% gratuity to our bill which blew my mind because typically that isn't done unless parties are 8 or more at most restaurants. On top of that neither of us realized they had added the tip and then tipped additionally. I'm sure our server was happy receiving almost $60 in tips but I felt like they should have told us they were going to add the gratuity automatically and not just say well it's in the bottom of the menu when we called to inquire about it. The amount of fruit flies that we're flying around our table was ridiculous and annoying. This was not exactly how I thought my birthday dinner would go.

La Sen's customer service has been poor for years, but I was really disappointed in my overall experience today. First, I found a small fly in my salad rolls and decided to just ignore it and try to enjoy the rest of my meal. Which was overpriced and overall underwhelming. Not only was the waiter dismissive and short with me, but when I wished him a good day he just stared at me blankly. I did not feel the necessary caliber of service to justify their prices, or the BUG in my food. Save your money and do not dine here.

6/20/22 Please don't go at close to closing time. Our food was not hot or warm, my husband's was mostly fat, tough & flavorless pork. My food was ok, a bit of fat, picked it off. & needed a knife to cut the meat, but the waitress never came to check on us, so, I tore it up with my fingers. I had to ask for a to go box. Maybe it's all much better during regular hours

Good food, I got the combo vermicelli and was looking forward to the shrimp.... ONE!!! That is apparently ALL the shrimp they can muster with the combo meal!! Really?? Come on man!! One shrimp??? I mean that ONE shrimp was good but one expects at least a few shrimp in a meal! Probably won't be back but you never know!!

Eaten here several times since moving to the area. Food has been very good, the customer service is fantastic. Mostly have had take out, but dined in once and the experience was also good. Good atmosphere, clean, and attentive service.

Ordered chicken pho from Uber eats. I received a very small container of Luke warm broth with two tiny pieces of chicken. The noodles were separate. They didn't include the Veges, toppings, bean sprouts, lime or sauce. Nor did they include my soda with the meal. I am pregnant and very hungry so this was dIsappointing. Is this a Specimen or my dinner ? lol Hoping they get it right for the next pregnant lady !! hahah!

We normally go to one in Tualatin, but we tried this one since we were close by. We went in at like 8:20pm to dine in. Servers looked at each other and immediately made faces like they were annoyed. Service wasn't all that good, 8:50ish, they came to our table and said they want us to pay. Which I understand they have to start closing the tab. At 9:01, one of the server came and said "we closed at 9. I can bring you boxes." .... Yes. They basically said "leave asap". Needless to say that got us upset. We were already upset over their poor service but that made us mad. Not going back ever again.

Got the Hue spicy noodles and Saigon bowl with vermicelli noodles. I love the amount of proteins and fresh veggies in each dish but the sweetness of both dish really overpowers other flavors and texture of both dishes. I wanted to sip on the spicy broth but it tasted more like a spicy syrupy broth. This is my first time having Hue style noodle which is something I've always wanted to try. The grilled pork was also sweet sweet. The shrimps were tough and over cooked. They definitely feel like they've been cooked for a while like in the morning like before that. Both noodles have great texture, they're soft but still firm. I love Vietnamese food and this is the first time I'm complaining about it being overly sweet. I generally love the savory and umami taste from fish sauce in Vietnamese cuisine but sadly I didn't get it from this place.

Great find in West Lynn. Really nice ppl and excellent service here. Called ahead as I wanted to confirm outdoor seating for our dogs. Here near portland EVERYTHING closes early like 9pm (which is early for us Bay Area Night Owls). Anyway, I let them know we were to arrive at 8:40 which is when they normally take theur last order for food. The outdoor seating is basically a few tables on their front sidewalks but its great for those that have dogs. The food was really good for vietnamese fusian. Lu lac Beef - really good flavors and nice combo with cherry tomatoes n greens Drunken Chicken - Remind me of general tsou chicjen .. chicken was tender moist with batter and sweet sauce Sai gon - Combo grilled meats (shrimp, chicken, pork) Lemon grass Chicken - spicy but pretty good Appetizer Wings - was ok not sweet not spicy not salty probably my least fave The Thai Ice Tea here Was Excellent!!! Best thai ice tea then even thai restaurabrs. Clean indoor modern decor (turned up air condition a plus!) Again the high review was for the great service we got!!!

There are better places to go that have a better staff. I had to ask for utensils and was told that tipping was required by the staff, or I could not dine in the restaurant. I will go somewhere else. Go to Pho Tai in OC instead, much better food and atmosphere.

I have had a lot of Pho in my life and this was surprisingly bad. Of course the broth was rich and had a good flavor-BUT it was insanely sweet. Tasted like they used 3x the amount of sugar the broth calls for. The amount was also much smaller for pho than I am used to, the amount of noodles was so small and the dish was mostly broth. The meat was not as good as it usually is in pho dishes, the meatballs were extra tough and had a strange flavor with them. This food wasn't horrible, but it was definitely not up to standards for what we got and we will not be going back seeing as there are many other good Vietnamese places in Portland. Overpriced for what it is.

We've been ordering from this location for years and the food has been great. However, last night's trip will keep us from going back. We asked the waiter if oyster sauce being listed in the vegetarian items was a mistake as we just noticed it. Turns out it was not a mistake and their vegetarian dishes contain oyster sauce. And no, not the type made with mushrooms. True oyster sauce. The waiter admitted it was misleading but that it makes the food taste better. From their menu vegetarian: Dau Hủ Xào Xã Ớt - Lemongrass Chili Tofu $17.50 Crispy tofu with lemongrass, chili and onions stir fried with rice wine and garlic oyster sauce, served with jasmine rice. Shame on us for not noticing before. Shame on them for being shady.

Decided to give this place a try and from the reviews , it looked decent. I ordered the Saigon combo and took a bite into an already questionable looking shrimp. What do you know, RAW. First and last time dining here.

Located in a great spot. I ordered to go and it was easy. It was considerate of them to ask if I would like plastic utensils ahead of time. I ordered exactly $28.50: Honey Glazed Chicken, Beef Pho and Salad Rolls with Chicken. I had not eaten all day and ordered around 6:30 PM... so it was all for me! I loved the variety and attention to detail when opening up my plastic bag of yumminess. They made sure to separate the noodles and salad from the soup so I could put it in when I was ready to eat. Everything was tasty... but I wasn't able to finish the soup and now I'm wondering what the pho to do with it. Luckily it's in a plastic container so I'll be glad to eat it tomorrow! :-)

We try new pho places all the time but instead of raving about the pho here we fell in love with their lobster wontons! Loved them! When we asked the waitress about them she said they weren't her favorite but that a lot of people order them. They order them because they're yummy!! My only complaint would be that they're served as a plate of 5. When sharing an appetizer it's nice to have an even number. We also ordered a beef pho, with a combination of brisket, flank and meatballs, and a chicken pho. We were served nice, big, bowls filled with lots of broth, noodles and big slices of meat. We generally rate our pho by the broth and meat since everything else about it is usually the same everywhere. Some of the beef was very fatty but that wasn't a big surprise. The chicken was nice big slices and was well cooked. The broth was just average and didn't have much flavor to it. I loaded mine up with soy sauce, jalapeños, and a combination of the sauces that was brought to the table by our server. It still didn't give it a lot of flavor like I expected. It's a nice, clean, restaurant with a friendly staff. We were seated by a nice man who immediately served us with water. Our server came over shortly and took our food order and quickly came back with drinks. It was less Han 10 minutes before we were served appetizers and less than 5 minutes after that that our pho was served. We were checked on twice while we dined and our waters were refilled. We were very happy with the service. Over all, I would definitely come back just to order the lobster wontons and possible try some other dishes besides the pho.

The food is very good; coconut shrimp and lobster wontons were great. I had the eggplant clay pot and the flavors were fantastic. Service is spotty; main course and appetizers arrived at the same time, and we had to wait a long time after we had finished eating to get the check. There was only one other table of two dining at the time, so they weren't busy. They just never checked on us after they dropped off our food. The biggest issue, however, were the FLIES. Big flies buzzing around, and an infestation of little fruit flies flying around and hanging out on the sauce bottles on the tables. Not sure how eager I am to return. The food is good but the fly infestation makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is.

To be a consistent consumer of La Sen Grill in west linn oregon, for years and treated the way i've been treated is absolutely mind boggling to me. Worker have no respect and seem highly egotistical. Glares and annoyed behavior are made CLEAR by employees. I have been serious concerns for what they do to our food specifically. They're attitude is of one that has just spit in there consumers food. I am a respectful individual but treated with blunt disrespect. and for what?

I have eaten a lot of Vietnamese food especially in Chicago on Argyle Street which is a Vietnamese, Laotian, and Cambodian community. This place has great flavor and some of the best presentation I have seen eating this type of food. Very friendly I want to bring my wife here on date night.

This place deserves zero stars!! The workers are extremely rude and don't care about customers. I would definitely never go here again. The food is also extremely overpriced!!!! Horrible!!!!

This place is the nearest Vietnamese restaurant where I can get descent pho. La Sen does not the serve the best Pho I've had, but it's not terrible either. I would say the Pho is above average. Finally, portions seem a bit on the small side. I ordered Pho via takeout from both La Sen and another Vietnamese restaurant. The contents from La Sen was about 80% the volume of the other restaurant (I used the same Bowl as a reference). That being said, I still would recommend La Sen if you are around the area.

I have been in four or five times for lunch since they opened and I have been very happy with my meal every visit. I usually order a bowl (with noodles) or a platter (with rice), and am still trying something new when I come in. The garlic glazed pork and the vegetarian spring rolls bowl might be my favorites so far, but I suspect that by the time I finish the drunken crispy chicken I am currently enjoying, it will be up there too. I have never had a complaint about service, although occasionally I might have to flag someone down to have my water glass refilled. Still, the wonderful food is worth it, and I plan on continuing to eat here. In fact, I am looking at the menu right now, planning my next visit's meal selection. P.S. The drunken crispy chicken is fantastic.
